Itune 64-bit touble

Hey so I tried to get music from my Itunes (on my computer) to my music on my Ipod touch. When I plug in my Ipod to sync it says "This Ipod cannot be used because the required software is not installed. Run the Itunes installer to remove Itunes, then install the 64-bit version of Itunes". Now I have tried
-removing Itunes then restarting my computer
-restarting computer, uninstall Itunes, restart computer
-Run Itunes in troubleshoot
-and run it as administrator
Even after trying all this it still will not work. Also I will note that I do download the 64-bit Itunes because I have Window 7 64-bit. It still won't work for me so it would be great if someone who knows more about computers and Itunes could help me. Thanks
Matt

I have identified this problem to be related to the installation of Apple Mobile Device Service, which is a part of the installation of iTunes. At one step of the installation, the installer says "New files are copied" followed by "Action reversed", and the green progress bar is actually moving from right to left to reflect this.
When checking what has actually been installed after the installation has finished, it can be seen that the Apple Mobile Device Service is missing.
I have tried to work with the Apple support to get this resolved, but with no success yet.
I think the cause to the problem could be that the installer tries to copy a file or a registry item that is already present on the computer from an installation of another program, so that a conflict arise due to the same file name or the same registry item name.
I have asked Apple to send me a list of all files and items that are copied to the computer at the step where the Apple Mobile Device Service is installed.
I will post any progress in this irritating matter.
Has anyone reached a solution since your original posts?

  • I just upgraded to itunes 64 bit 12.1.1.4 on Windows 8.1 and it does not recognize my devices

ITunes was working fine but it kept prompting me to upgrade which I did. After the upgrade it took a very long time to identify my iPod classic, but it finally did and I was able to download one song I had purchased. I have 3 iPods. I then put in my second iPod and iTunes could not find it. I researched the options from Jason via his very good link but the suggestions do not work. Windows sees the iPod (all of them just fine) the cables are good, (I used them on another computer running iTunes under windows XP and they recognize the ipods with no problem. The Apple Mobile  Device shows up fine under USB controller and the ipods show up under Portable devices. After much back and forth, restarting, powering off both iPod and PC, iTunes still will not recognize the old ipod, but once - it said -" It did recognize that an ipod was connected but it could not verify the identity". It asked me to dis-connect, power off and try again and if the problem persist to call tech support. I discontented and powered off and tried again and it will not see any ipod. In all of this Windows 8.1 sees the ipod just fine. I decided to uninstall the new update and go back to the old one. I uninstalled iTunes and attempted to install my original ITunes which is itunes64bit.exe dated 1/25/2015, but now the installer will not work - it goes to a screen that says "ITunes Installer Completed - Errors occurred during installation before iTunes could be configured. Your system has not been modified. To complete the installation run the installer again". I have tried 4 times each time with the same message and no indication o f the error. I would like to call tech support but find it hard to pay $29 to call them about an upgrade Apple basically forced me to take that has created this problem. I am not sure what my next step should be - I have 3 ipod and 2 ipad, and right now no working iTunes. It used to work, even up to a few a hours ago but once I took that upgrade from ****, it has not worked since.

The fix was to completely remove all Apple Software following guides in previous posts.
Then download and re-install latest iTunes 64-bit, making sure to Run As Administrator.
This fixed it. Now the next thing seems to be that as I move from one device to another to close and restart iTunes between each one. Treat it gently. It seems to break easily and a lot.

I just found that I can't Sync my Iphone either and it gave the same error code.... it must be a ITunes problem.

Not with your current user id.
Far too much uneccesary information in your post, which only confuses things, a vast amount!
    Let's start with iTunes.
Have you updated iTunes to 11.1.5, because the previous version did appear to have an issue about seeing iPods?
With iTunes 11.1.5 installed, look in Edit/Preferences/Devices, (or use the ALT key, followed by the E key and then the F key) and make sure that the box named Prevent iPods, iPhones and iPads from syncing automatically does not have a tick in the box.
Once you have doen those two things, check to see if the iPod is seen by iTunes.

By the way, what does IOS mean? (I thought IO stood for operating system, but am flummoxed by the S on the end.
    Really?
OS stands for Operating System. (In computer speak, IO means Input/Output.)
iOS originally stood for iPhone Operating System, but it now refers to the iPod Touch and iPhone. The iPod Classic, which you have listed in your profile as your iPod, does not use iOS.
I assume that you have been listening to the Podcast in your iTunes on the computer as you cannot transfer it to your iPod. It's what I'd do.

  • Is it just me that finds the latest version of iTunes a bit rubbish? Is there any way to have a playlist open in a new window?

Is it just me that finds the latest version of iTunes a bit rubbish? I'm used being able to open a playlist in a separate window in order to browse through my music and easily drag and drop tracks into the playlist (in a separate window). It also meant that I could search and play the contents of my main library and just drag and drop into a large space AND easily hit the stop button and instantly hit the pay button to just start a new tune from a new playlist. Now you can only press pause / play / pause and so on. If I want to view the contents of a playlist while listening to another I need to navigate to it which takes me away from what I'm doing in the other. It just makes for a lot of clicking and navigating around the houses when I used to be able to have multiple windows.
I'm an avid music fan and just love organising my music to make finding / listening to my favourites eaiser.
Maybe I'm just a bit thick and not using the software correctly, but it seems that a lot of handy features have been either removed or replaced with inferior ones (at least for me anyway). I appreciate that probably for most generic general music goers this isn't an issue, but for me it is.
A rather long winded way of asking if anybody knows if it's possible to have multi-windows open, but also a chance to have a public moan about a great piece of software that has been updated and gone backwards - a bit like the iPhone google / apple maps situation!

  • ITunes 32-bit upgrade to iTunes 64-bit on Windows 7 64 bit

    Hi there!
I have a question about upgrading iTunes from 32-bit to 64-bit on Windows.
As I always do when I reformat my computer I save my "iTunes Library.itl" files and all those other files, backup my iTunes Music folder etc. Then I re-install iTunes on the new computer and put the iTunes Music folder and the library files back into their places and iTunes works just fine.
My question is this. I'm curently upgrading from Vista 32-bit to Win7 64-bit.
I can probaly keep using iTunes 32-bit in Win7 64-bit but what's the point. I have to make the transition some time anyway. So my question is. Can I do as I always do, install iTunes 32-bit in Win7 64-bit, as my files and then install iTunes 64-bit over the 32-bit installation? Or can a clean iTunes 64-bit installation use my old "iTunes Library.itl" files etc from my 32-bit installation of iTunes?
I hope this makes any sens.

I have the answer and this might be useful for any one else wondering about this in the future. If it helped you or explained what you wanted to know. Replay to the post pls
It's quite easy actually. First have your "iTunes Library Extras", "iTunes Library Genius", "iTunes Library", and "iTunes Music Library" backed up. Download ans install iTunes 64-bit. I don't know what's so 64-bit about iTunes 64 since Win7 reports it as a 32-bit application in the task manager. But anyway. Install iTunes 64 and launch it. If you migrated your library to another drive like me go to settings in iTunes and change the directory to your location. Close iTunes. Replace the newly created files with your backed up files. Launch iTunes. iTunes will load and then update your library and from there you are set to go! so basically it is just like a normal upgrade. But if you hesitated to go from 32 to 64 like me, here is your answer.
By the way. I'm using Windows 7 64-bit with iTunes 64-bit and it works without problems and syncing with my iPod Touch also works flawlessly.

  • I have a new computer with Windows 7 and get an error message 7 when trying to install iTunes 64 bit

I have a new PC with Windows 7 and when I try to download iTunes, 64 bit I get Error 7 (Windows error 127).  Any help would be appreciated

Do you get an error message when you try to download iTunes, melissa? If so, what does it say? (Precise text, please.)

  • On Windows 7, Itunes 64-bit is playing all videos with a green overlay

On Windows 7, Itunes 64-bit is playing all videos with a green overlay. You can see the video, but it's all green-scale (like grey-scale, only green). I've tried setting the Quicktime Direct3D options per Apple knowledge base articles, but to no avail... Windows 7 is all up to date, and I have the latest video drivers installed.
The videos play perfectly in Quicktime (32-bit; I guess there isn't a 64-bit Quicktime?).
    Here's a screenshot:
I'd love to get this fixed; it's really baffling and annoying.

I had the same problem and surfed around the internet like a maniac. Finally, after several re-openings and re-installs of iTunes, I tried to log on to my account through the "Genius" - which I could. After that I have not had any problems to go to the Store!
Hope it works for you too!

Trying to download iTunes 64-bit version on my new Windows 7 PC. Getting the error 'could not locate "%APPDATA%". How do I get past this error? The software doesn't install. Appreciate if someone in the forum can help.

The backup and restore from the iCloud was a little unnerving since the restore erased all information from the iPod.  The iCloud backup and restore took a long time, but worked.  I was very grateful.
Trying again to backup to iTunes locally proved to be the same challenging problem.  The same backup to corrupt file was the message.  The status bar showing backup seemed to move faster to start, but then slowed to a creep toward the end before the error.
When trying to restore a backup in iTunes, the "Restore" button is grayed out since it is looking for a local copy.  Any restore would need to be from the iCloud which already worked but isn't the final solution.
Your suggestions were good, I am just in the same boat.  Any thoughts about doing the following?
    1) creating a cloud backup
    2) resetting the iPod to factory defaults
    3) removing all traces of iTunes from my computer and
    4) installing iTunes and setting up iPod from scratch.
This is the next thing on my list.

  • Sync problem with itunes 64 bit

Hi, it's impossible to sync an iPhone 4 with iTunes 10.4 64 bit (sync in one step and in only few seconds but actually it do nothing) and cannot install iTunes 32 bit on windows 7 64 bit. Never had that problem on 32 bit.
    What can I do?

I worked though this issue today on my PC and I have it working.
The piece that worked for me was that you have to uninstall apple components in a specific order. I also rebooted my pc after the uninstalls were complete. I found this on the apple support site (see below).
    Uninstall in the following order:
    iTunes
    QuickTime
    Apple Software Update
    Apple Mobile Device Support
    Bonjour
Apple Application Support (iTunes 9 or later)
I then reinstalled 64bit Itunes by saving the package, right clicking and run as administrator.
This reinstalled itunes then I recieved another error, iphone could not be synced 13019. I researched this and I found out that the itunes library could not find one or more of my music files in the library these are denoted by an exclamation mark. I either had to delete the files or double click on the files and click locate and then point them to the location of the missing files. After I had found all of the files it was able to sucessfully sync and all is good.
    I hope this helps...

  • VoiceOver with iTunes 64 bit on Windows 7 64 bit problem

Is anyone using VoiceOver with iTunes 64 bit on Windows 7 64 bit?
We cannot get it to work. I have followed Apple's guideance and uninstalled/reinstalled iTunes and the .dll has been moved from the root directory of C: to the iTunes program directory.
I took the problem to the Genius Bar at a major Apple Store but they dont support Windows 7 or 64 bit.

I have again removed, rebooted then reinstalled iTunes and Voiceover is still not working with Windows 7 64 bit. I also am unable to find on any forum anyone who has it working.

I am having problem with my Itunes 64-bit. The help button is not working. I also have an error message, that I am not connected to the website. I have good connection. My Home sharing error (-2146893032) and my network connection error (0X80090318). I have Windows 7 OS Home Premium. Model Dell Inspiron560S. Pentium(R) Dual Core CPU E5400 @2.70GHz. (Ram) 4.00GB. I removed the Itunes 32-bit and replaced 64-bit according to apple support page.

Click here and follow the instructions. You may need to completely remove and reinstall iTunes and all related components, or run the process multiple times; this won't normally affect its library, but that should be backed up anyway.
