Itune 8.1 has seriously bugged my computer

Loaded 8.1 and it's been nightmare. (Gateway 6750 Vista) I maintain everything way it should be, (firewalls/spyware/adware/virus scans). Have done all basic fixes. Have had computer for nearly 2 years-stable and problem free the whole time. Never a bug.
Now,Itunes does not open at all. Does not allow uninstall in control panel. Can not reinstall new download. Computer does not shut off fully-hangs on "logging off" indefinitely. Have tried to manually delete Itunes off Control panel-(in programs folders-nothing works.) Have tried to run in Safe mode-THat does not even get to windows desktop-hangs at black "blank" screen.
Have tried to restore computer to previous point (before 8.1 install 3/10) does not work. I can't regain control of my computer. Help!

Thanks for your response, Niel. Is there no way of removing the last update from my ipad????
Appreciate your help
James

  • ORACLE ON LINUX HAS SERIOUS BUG! IS NOT FAILSAFE COMMIT!!!

I made one experiment to make sure in failsafety on Oracle/Linux.
I tried to turn off the computer after commit, when "Commit
    complete" message was appeared.
See a link on my last report:
    http://f2.dejanews.com/oracletechnet/nonmembers/index.cgi?do=show
    msg&conf=Early.Linux&msg=3953&show=unread&depth=all
This experiment finished with bad result:
Oracle for Linux can not be used for any more or less
    responsible applications!
I tried to use filesystem with sync option and I tried to use
    waitfor_sync parameter in "init.ora" file.
All of above without result. Oracle does not remember the data
last commited transactions. Oracle does not write commited data
on disk during about 1-3 sec period after the message "Commit
    complete" appeared.
What do the Oracle Team say about this bug?

Has anyone reported this to Oracle? I haven't heard about this
bug, but it may be in the pipeline for the next patch.

  • U410 has serious bugs!!!

    Hi everyone,
I just wanted to warn everyone who bought a u410. If you still can, best return it now and get your money back now because this laptop has two major flaws:
    1) BIOS is faulty:
disabling UEFI in BIOS completely locks you out of the BIOS, you can no longer access the bios once UEFI is disabled. There is no way to recover the original BIOS settings. The only option is return to factory.
    2) Repartitioning of the HDD virtually impossible:
This Laptop comes with a RAID 0 configuration where the SDD acts as hibernation partition and cache for the HDD. While this configuration speeds up boot significantly it also means that the original HDD  partitioning cannot be changed without destroying the RAID. Lenovo has partitioned the HDD in four primary partitions of which two are hidden.
My advice: Don't buy this junk!
I will also post a review in Amazon where I bought this laptop and warn everyone there not to buy this laptop...

    Guys,
I cold started the PC and it's all back up and running like it should.   Well, a restart would have worked too I'm guessing.  All hidden files now show up in ALL folders, includng system files.  Previously, all system files, applications files, and Library files were all disappeared.
The PC was running straight for only 4 days.  Is that too much for Mac OS Lion to handle??  Is this system resource issue?  I got 4GB of RAM, 500GB HDD, Intel Core i5, etc. This shouldn't be the bottleneck.  I mean heck, with Windows Server 2003 I can let it go on and on and on and on and on for week"s" straight without a single hicup and never ran into files disappearing. Man that OS is fast as ******* and stable and consistent as ****. And that's with only 1GB of RAM on Sony laptop.  So is this Mac OS cache problem??  When I checked the system monitor it didn't seem to show taking up much ram..  I guess Mac OS requirees reboots every few days. This sorta reminds me of Windows 98 requiring reboots once every few days to keep from going BSOD.  Anybody has inputs to share on this. And what can I do to keep from this happening again without having to restart the computer every few days?
    thanks,

  • Can't reopen Itunes once it has been closed without computer restart.  Can't acces Itunes store 3/4 of the time.  Itunes won't recognize Ipod Touch 5  Help?!

Since my Itunes was updated I have had nothing but problems.  When I open Itunes, the majority of the time I can not access the itunes store, though I can occasionally.  I have good internet connection.  I followed Itunes help associated with that and even downloaded the latest version of my graphics card.   Then if I close out of Itunes and go back to reopen it will not reopen at all.  The only way I can reopen it is by restarting my computer.  The other thing is that I have a brand new Ipod touch and Itunes does not recognize it.  Help!!!   I hate Itunes 11.0!!   If I didn't already have 7 Ipods and a song library of 6000, I would walk away from apple right now!!!

Okay for my issue I ended up calling Apple Support and getting a solution!   Yahoo!  It appears to be working properly without having to go back to the old version of Itunes, as was suggested by someone in this forum.   I have Windows 7, and they did suggest to makes sure my Windows 7 was updated, along with my Video Card.   The tech had me uninstall Itunes and Reinstall it, however she stressed to me that if it was not uninstalled in the proper order, Itunes still would not work after the re-install.
The proper order to uninstall Itunes from the add or remove programs, is:
    1st Itunes
    2nd Quicktime
    3rd Apple Software Update
    4th Apple Mobile Device
    5th Bonjour
    6th Apple Aplication Support
Following the uninstall I shut the computer off completely for one minute, then powered it back up, and went to www.itunes.com to reinstall the software.   Seems to be working now, with my Windows 7, without having to revert back to the old version of itunes.

  • PLEASE HELP!  itunes has disappeared from my computer - don't know why

PLEASE HELP!! iTunes has disappeared from my computer. Have no idea what happened. Won't let me download new itunes.

You can probably fix it by running chkdsk, as explained in this other thread. It makes sense, if you didn't remove itunes yourself and it can't be reinstalled/repaired, something went seriously wrong on the PC's hard drive. Perhaps the chkdsk utility can fix it.

My iphone 5 doesn't sync with itunes on my pc. it says this computer has  previously been synced to another io6 device or iphone? please help what to do?

The error message you're seeing is likely the other way around -- i.e. something like "This iPhone has previously been synced with a different computer".   There's no problem syncing multiple iOS devices to the same computer.
However, the reverse is not true for the iPhone --  you cannot connect an iPhone to another computer without it being erased, even if you manually manage music and video.  So, it sounds like you've been syncing your iPhone to a different computer?
Also, 5.1 (not 5.0.1) is the latest iOS.

I've run diagnostics. Can't find device. I've tried resetting. The toggle has been turned on and off.

Cable works fine on my other iPod. Reset by pressing menu and center button together for 6-10 seconds. Left it to charge for many hours. Started acting up while running. Suddenly the music stopped playing but my Nike + was still working for the rest of my run. Took it straight it home and plugged it in to the wall to recharge since the battery was fairly low. Looked like it recharged ok but then screen went blank and now does it not show up on iTunes, does not seem to recharge by the wall charger (apple wall charger plugged into a surge protector in India). I have turned the hold switch off and on many times.
Sounds like a repair issue, which is not easy to do in India :(

  • HT1420 I can't deauthorise my daughter's last computer from iTunes because it has crashed. We have three computers in the house but I can't authorise my new MacbookPro for iTunes or homesharing. So I can't even get my music from my old Macbook into my new

I can't deauthorise my daughter's last computer from iTunes because it has crashed. We have three computers in the house but I can't authorise my new MacbookPro for iTunes or homesharing because it says I have 5 computers authorised (I don't). I can't even get my music from the iTunes library on my old Macbook onto my new one, because it won't let me sync my iPhone 5 with my old Macbook, as I can't update the iTunes software. So I have a new MacbookPro and a new iPhone 5 and I can't get any of my music on either of them. I feel singularly depressed.

As you have more than 1 computer authorised then you should be able to log into your account on your computer's iTunes (Store > View My Account) and 'deauthorise all' (which you can do once every 12 months) and you can then authorise/reauthorise the computers that you still have and need : authorising and deauthorising.

  • TS1967 I have just bought a new computer and downloaded latest version of itunes.  It has all installed fine, but when I sync my ipod, it shows all the songs but won't play any of the songs in that library.  Also, I can't add new files.

I have just bought a new computer and downloaded the latest version of itunes.  It has all installed fine, but when I plug my ipod and sync it, the music library shows all the songs and videos that are on there, but won't let me play them.  Also, I can't add any new songs to the same library.  It saves them elsewhere. I have had the previous version on another computer and it worked just fine.  I have been online trying to find an answer but nothing.  Hope someone can help me. Thanks

Installing iTunes does not cause content to magically appear on the computer.
Your media is only where you put it.
iOS devices are not backup devices.
Copy the media from the old computer to the new computer.

I can't reset using the two button method, and ipod does not appear on itunes when I plug it into the computer - and nothing else happens either.  This happened after I agreed to a software update which failed.  How can I get it going again?

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

I also have changed others as instructed by GEAR  software support to manually delete GEAR drivers (that I had installed but couldn't delete some of the others  they mentioned from Windows system 32.
