ITune account consolidation

I have an itunes account which is registered to my parents computer, and an ipod that is registered to this account.
I have recently bought an iphone and have a new computer of my own. I would like to move my existing itunes account onto my new computer and them use this with my iphone.
I have also signed up to iCloud with a different Apple ID and am not sure if I can put my existing itunes account in the cloud easily in order to tie both devices to the same account?
Can anyone tell me the easiest way to do this?
Thanks

There is nothing preventing you from having iTunes content on your computer and your iPhone that was purchased/downloaded with more than one Apple ID/iTunes account. You will need to authorize your computer with your iTunes account with iTunes.
There is no way to merge iTunes accounts or merge content purchased/downloaded with one iTunes account to another.

Can I merge purchases from two separate iTunes accounts on one account?

If you mean iTunes libraries, locate the files and drag them into iTunes when the other library is loaded. If you mean iTunes Store accounts, click here and request assistance.

  • Consolidating 2 iTunes accounts

Me and my wife both have a separate iTunes on our laptops and we have separate Apple ID's, we are looking at getting a single new computer, possibly an iMac. We want all our music in 1 place possibly with just 1 new iTunes account. Will this be a pain in the bum?? If we want to keep all our old music and apps?
If it helps I gave iPhone 5 and she has an iPad

You cannot combine the accounts into one, but you can certainly put all of the content on one computer.
Put everything on one computer, authorize the computer for both accounts.  That's it.

  • How can my wife and I share our iTunes account?

My wife has an iTunes account as do I, but we are ideally trying to combine them so that we have a central iTunes library that we can both pull from. Is this possible?  We are on Windows Vista platform outside of our apple products.
We have 2 iPhones and several iPods.

  • My iTunes account says that it cannot locate the original file for all of my songs.  My iPhone still has all the music and is able to play the songs, if I sync and backup my iphone will the songs be replaced with the empty copies from my itunes library?

So basically I tried to back up my itunes library to my external hard drive and when I followed the instructions and then went to play a song it said Orginal file cannot be found. It said that for all of the songs. I'm not sure how to fix what I did, I already tried consolidating and all of that stuff and it didn't locate the files.  I'm guessing that I somehow deleted the original songs along the way.  I synced my iPhone without knowing what I did and surprisingly all of the music is still on my phone.  So now that I've completely screwed up my iTunes account, I need to know how to get all my music back onto my iTunes account and have that library only on my external hard drive, not my computer. Everything looks fine on my iTunes besides the fact that it cannot locate the files but what I'm afraid of is me syncing and backing up my iPhone and then being left with no music because it syncs to the empty songs.  How can I fix this? and if I can't fix my iTunes library is there anyway for me to still be able to backup my iphone and all the music on it, without erasing my music?

Well I'm not sure if I correctly backed up my itunes library because when trying to open itunes from that back up it keeps saying original file not found. Okay this is going to sound confusing but bear with me.  I "backed up" my itunes, meaning I just dragged and dropped the iTunes folder into my external hardrive, and then I changed the destination on iTunes to open from my external hardrive.  It was working fine when I did that, however I did that just on my own, I didn't know about consolidating the files or any of that so I hadn't done that before copying the folder to my external hard drive. I can't remember but I'm pretty sure I deleted the iTunes folder after I had copied it to my external hardrive. So I did that and it was working fine, I was able to open my itunes with my external hardrive.  BUT yesterday I thought that I hadn't done it correctly because I didn't consolidate the files and all that, so I wanted to be more thorough and do that, I followed the steps to do that but when I did that I think it got all the files from my computer and not from my external hard drive so it basically didn't find anything on my computer because I had deleted them. And like an idiot, I replaced the iTunes folder on my external hard drive (the one I did correctly the first time), with the one I did wrong. So I believe I pretty much deleted all the music files from both my external hard drive and my computer. Please correct me if I'm wrong?
I believe getting all my music back on my itunes is a lost cause. BUT I still have all my songs and stuff on my iPhone. My question is, if I plug my phone into my computer and sync it, will it erase all my songs from my phone? A little more info, my iTunes still has the names and stuff of all my songs, they just can't be played because the files are missing, my iPhone doesn't need to erase and sync when I plug in my phone because it's already synced to my computer. What I'm afraid of is when I plug in my phone to backup and sync, will it erase my music because it can't find the files on my computer or external hard drive anymore? Or will it just leave the songs because they're already there (on my phone) and only sync the new songs that I've downloaded? I just need to know is my iTunes still going to be functional as far as me being able to backup my phone?
I have a lot of songs purchased from iTunes but a lot (like 60%) are from CDs that I no longer have. So re-downloading my music would only account for 40% of my library.

  • Moving itunes account from one windows user account to another....

Hello! I really hope some one here can help!
I use one of two user accounts on my comp, my boyfriend is the "owner" and I have my own. For separate itunes accounts .... Something is messed up with my profile on this user account and an IT friend told me he thinks that I should just delete my whole profile from the OWNER one and start over, saving anything i need beforehand.
I was about to do that until I realised that my Itunes account would also be gone.
Is there any way that I can transfer my itunes account to another user account on my computer without losing everything and having to start over???
    Pllllease & thank you!!!

Well, if all of the music is in My Music\iTunes, then just copy that folder.
    If it isn't:
If it's in a shared location, such as the root of the drive, and both account are accessing it, then ignore the music, and transfer just the 'iTunes' folder within My Music.
If it's in an account specific location (like on your desktop), first consolidate it to your My Music, then transfer that folder.

authorize iTunes on both machines for both iTunes accounts. exchange songs using e.g. home sharing.

  • Can you sync an ipad to more than one itunes account?

I'm sure this question has been asked, I didn't see the answer. My girlfriend bought an ipad for both of us to use, I have an iphone, she does not, we both have separate itunes accounts, any way to sync both to the ipad?
    thx

Yes, you can have more than one account on the same computer, that makes sense, imagine you have kids and you like them to use their own accounts…
In iTunes check the menu "Store", sign out for your account an sign in with an other account.
If the two computers are in the same network, it is easy to transfer Music, Apps and so on from one to the other. After consolidating the libraries you can use "Authorize this Computer". I believe you can authorize up to fife computers with the same account…
    enjoy your magic machine

  • 1 iPhone, 2 iTunes accounts, and iCloud = Trouble!

My sister has an iPhone 4 with applications that have been purchased under two different iTunes accounts, hers and her husband's.
This was never a problem in the past as the computer she synced to is authorized under both accounts.
However, now that she's upgraded to iOS 5 and its iCloud, everything is broken.  After a wired sync, all is fine.  But then a short time later the phone talks to  iCloud, and suddenly most of her apps (the ones bought under her husband's account) no longer work.
There doesn't seem to be any way to get iCloud to allow apps from multiple accounts.  I've seen postings from people longing to be able to merge their multiple accounts, but my sister doesn't want to merge the two accounts.  They need to keep them separate. Is there anything she can do?
It sure sounds like this whole iCloud thing was not well thought-out despite months and months of beta testing.
Personally, my iPhone is still on iOS 4 as I have apps from both the U.S. and Japan stores and it doesn't seem that I would be able to continue using all my apps under iOS 5 / iCloud.

You can only use one account on your device. Contact the iTunes Store and see if they can do something about it, but the official version is:

  • 1 PC, 2 iTunes accounts (and phones).

We have 1 PC, 1 copy of iTunes (running on XP Pro), 2 iTunes accounts.  Each phone has their separate user ID's and backup's.  When I purchase music on my iTunes account I can load it onto my iPhone/iPod but not her iPhone.  When she purchases music on her iTunes account, I can load it onto her iPhone as well as my iPhone/iPod.  How is this possible?
    Thanks!

  • 2 Itunes accounts and one iphone

Somehow i managed to have 2 itunes accounts, one with my user name (example: XXXXX) and then another one that is my username but with my email address (Example: [email protected]) attached to it. I purchased songs on one account from computer but now i can not transfer the purchases to my i phone 4. If it helps my i phone 4 is linked to just the username account not the one with the email address. How can i transfer these purchases and is there anyway to link these accounts?

  • Want to transfer my iTunes account from our PC to our Macbook, but my wife already has her own iTunes account on it...is this possible?

I am wanting to transfer my itunes account from our PC to our Macbook pro.  Our PC has been riddled with problems and is slower than heck.  The only problem is that my wife already has her own Itunes account on the Macbook.  I have already consolidated the itunes library from my pc and backed it up to an external HD to move, but I have no idea where to go from here.  I don't want to overwrite any of her stuff.  Please help!

There are many ways to accomplish this, depending on how you want it.  Setting up multiple accounts is easy under System Preferences:Accounts.  After that open iTunes on your newly created account.
Now, is where you could do a couple of different things.  If your PC is sharing the same network and you are able to see the files on the PC from the iMac, then just drag and drop the iTunes Library music folder structure (just the part that contains the actual music) into the iTunes window.  If you can't access the PC files, then you need to copy them all to an external hard drive, and import them w/ the same method.
If you don't want to create a second root-level account for yourself, but want to keep the music library separate, create another iTunes Library.  You do this by holding down the Option key while starting iTunes, then click on the Create Library option.  Then import the music using either method above.

  • ICloud with multiple family members sharing one iTunes account?

How will iCloud work for the case where multiple family members share an iTunes account but each has his/her own iPhone/iPad/PC?
Will iCloud replicate content based on email address, unique Apple ID, iTunes account, or??  If iTunes, we could have trouble as three of us share our iTunes account (started when our daughter was young and continued for simplicity).

Keep one Apple ID for iTunes purchases (apps, music, etc.) for all family members on the iTunes Store and use different Apple IDs for each iCloud user. That worked for me.

  • How do i use 2 ipod touches with 1 itunes account?

how do i use 2 ipod touches with 1 itunes account?  can they share apps and music etc. I'm not very good at any tech so advise would be much appreciated.

Yes. You can sync an unlimited number of iDvies that you control to one iTunes library/account. If using the same iTunes library on the same comutr just make sure that yu go to the ap. music and other pane for the iPod in iTunes and select sycn selected items. Not the the whole library.  That way each iPod can have it own contents.
