ITune automatically re-downloading music

Don't know what my son clicked but everytime we log into iTunes, it gives us a welcome to iTunes like we are new and then starts re-downloading songs that we have deleted and making duplicates. Anyone have any ideas what to do with this?

When I updated with 10.3.1; the iCloud indicated that I had 100 songs purchased but not reflected on the PC. 100 ?? Wow !!. I think most were purchases by my kids many years ago on their machines under my account. And there were some duplicates too. Very strange. I just downloaded and weeded out. Could show up again I guess under "purchased." Now remember this is still Beta, but 100 songs ?

ITunes automatically re-downloading music already owned?

I tried a search on various combinations of the words in my question, with no luck. So here goes, hope this is not a duplicate question.
I wanted to download some App updates in iTunes today and when I clicked on the Update All button, I noticed that suddenly iTunes was downloading 5 songs that I already owned - and have owned since 2006! I let it finish, then verified, it did re-import 5 songs, so now I have 2 copies. And some of the songs don't even show as being from the same album as my original copy, but a different album by that artist.
Has anyone else had this issue, and know if there is a resolution for it? I am using iTunes 10.3.1
It never did download the apps either - I will have to try those again.

ITunes automatically re-downloads deleted music and even music not deleted

My iTunes has recently started automatically re-downloading music files that I either already have downloaded, or have deleted. Why is this happening and how do I stop it?

Hi ... same thing for me, for the last week or so iTunes on my MacBookPro has started redownloading apparently 'random' albums again despite songs being present in library ... sometimes it will start redownloading more than 100 tracks, and it moves the old files to the Trash. Does anyone know what is going on, and why this has 'suddenly' started happening?

There's a couple of ways to get through to the authorisation controls in the 11.0.x versions.
The control is still in the Store menu, but first (if you're using iTunes versions 11.0.x) you might need to bring up the menu bar to see the Store menu.
If you're using 11.0.x, click on the wee boxy icon up in the top-left corner of your iTunes to see the "Show Menu Bar" control, as per the following screenshot:
Then you'll find the control in the Store menu:
Alternatively, if you don't want to bring up the menu bar, it's still possible to get into the authorise controls via nested menus accessible from the wee boxy icon. Here's a screenshot of where to find them:

If you want to add the iTunes card to your account, then in the iTunes app on the iPad you should be able to scroll to the bottom of the Music tab and there should be a Redeem button - there is more info here : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1574

I didn't realize I had to delete everything and sync again. WHEW! Thank you so much. That worked.

When I downloaded the newest version of iTunes, my previously downloaded music in iTunes library disappeared on my computer? There was no warning of this happening. What do I do?

Ok, so I downloaded the newest version of iTunes on my home PC, and the previously downloaded music in my iTunes library disappeared on my computer. What happened? I can sync my iPod but I am not sure how long ago I synced it so I may be missing some music downloads. Why did this happen, and more importantly, why didn't iTunes warn me it could happen and advise me to sync with another device before the download? I am not very happy about this and it's a huge issue for iTunes if this is happening. It makes me very wary of iTunes.

Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash
Hopefully it's not been too long since you last upgraded iTunes, in fact if you get an empty/incomplete library immediately after upgrading then with the following steps then you shouldn't lose a thing or need to do any further housekeeping. In the Previous iTunes Libraries folder should be a number of dated iTunes Library files. Take the most recent of these and copy it into the iTunes folder. Rename iTunes Library.itl as iTunes Library (Corrupt).itl and then rename the restored file as iTunes Library.itl. Start iTunes. Should all be good, bar any recent additions to or deletions from your library.
See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to catch up with any changes since the backup file was created.
When you get it all working make a backup!

Can't connect to secure iTunes server to download music

I have had no issues ever with iTunes store. But recently I have been unable to download music or access my account. I can listen to sample tracks in iTunes store however.
I have checked my firewall which is OK.
I ran the diagnostic check within iTunes help and here are a few lines extracted from the report.
Connection attempt to Apple web site was successful.
Connection attempt to iTunes Store was successful.
Secure connection attempt to iTunes Store was unsuccessful.
The network connection timed out.
Secure connection attempt to iPhone activation server was successful.
I followed the help suggestion and confirm that
SSL 3.0 Support: Enabled
TLS 1.0 Support: Enabled
As you can see all works except secure connection.
Any ideas out there as to the cause

Are you running any of Symantec's (Norton) or McAfee's Internet security products or anything similar, or an antivirus/antispyware application? There have been reports that some such utilities treat an upgrade to iTunes as a new application and can block the application from running. So you have to go in and reset the utility to allow iTunes. The same thing can happen if you upgrade the security product (this has particularly been a problem with recent McAfee upgrades).
Check the settings for your utility and if necessary remove and re-enable the exception for iTunes (consult your utility's documentation for the appropriate procedure). You may also need to check the built-in Windows firewall as well.

You can't transfer content to a mobile device using home sharing, you can only share it from the computer while they are both on the same network. You can sync content from a computer over wifi to any devices that are syncing using iTunes. You do this by opening the device in iTunes when the device is connected and selecting the content you want to sync to your device.

You can only add music to iTunes Match from your iTunes library on your computer, not from your iOS device. If you have music on your iPad that is not on your computer, you'll have to import it to your iTunes library on your computer to add it to iTunes Match.
Music purchased from the iTunes store can be imported directly to your iTunes library by authorizing your computer for the Apple ID(s) used to purchase the music (in Store>Authorize This Computer), then connecting the iPad to your computer, opening iTunes and going to File>Devices>Transfer Purchases. Music from other sources will require using 3rd party software to transfer to your computer, such as Touch Copy.

My iTunes won't download music to my iPod Touch 5th Generation

I just recently bought some CD's, and I have found that my iTunes program won't let me download them to my iPod. I believe I have a 5th generation iPod Touch, and I have a Windows Vista... I don't know if it's because I updated to the newest iTunes version(12.0.1) and the latest ios for my iPod, but I've never had the problem of not being able to download songs to my iPod before... When I try to move the songs from my iTunes to my iPod, there is a blue highlight around my playlists, but not around my iPod... On iTunes, I do have the option to "manually manage music and videos" checked off. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated! (And I don't know what this is, I've tried to fix it but it still comes up, there is an error message when I start iTunes that says "iTunes has detected that it is not the default player for audio files. Would you like to go to the Default Programs control panel to fix this?" Could someone please help me with this as well?)

Does any media now sync to the iPod?
Do the songs play in iTunes on the computer?

ITunes on ios7 download music and movie error

I've been getting a download error when buying or renting movies or buying music.
"Download error. Tap to retry"
Then I get
"Unable to download song" select Done or Retry
If you select Retry, you get the same message as above
Problem is, if I can't download a rental movie, I can't watch it

I have this problem still: 3rd Gen 64GB iPad.
Downloading any video from the iTunes store is apt to result in this problem about 30-40% of the time on rented or purchased movies or purchased tv shows. I have noticed that it doesn't happen with SD tv shows as often as HD (probably due to file size) and that is how I get around it sometimes -- just grit my teeth, give up on the HD and suffer through the lower resolution for that tv show (grumbling iOS7 poor QA related unpleasantries under my breath)
Basically if the download has to be paused or is interrupted odds are that I'll never be able to complete that download... it'll try and try and sometimes result in a download error that won't go away and sometimes it will just keep downloading and then starting the download over at some random time before it completes.
I have found that calling iTunes support and asking them to clear that download will then allow me to start over and usually finish.
It is EXTREMELY annoying and hopefully they are working on a fix and it woul benefit them to do so if thre are many in this situation becasue I buy fewer shows and movies right now because it's such a royal pain to get them to my iPad to watch while flying or in hotels while travelling fo work each week.
If anyone has found a viable solution please post because calling iTunes is the best I've come up with so far and while I can't say one way or another it does appear to be related to storage or file system access.
Also my iPad freezes occassionally and I've noticed a possible correlation between a freeze and a dwnload restarting.

Prohibit iTunes from re-downloading music I deleted

I downloaded a free Starbucks song.. and hate the song, but I can't get rid of it. Either the Macbook Pro (Snow), iPad 1, or iPhone 4 will attempt to bring it back to life. Finally out of desperation I let it download, made a Smart Playlist called iTunes Trash, and told the devices NOT to sync that playlist or the Genre attached to the song. Didn't change a thing. It still makes it way back on my devices.
The "free" song is just the tip of a very large iceberg, as I have purchased songs that I dislike and don't want, but they still keep coming back to remind me that I wasted $10 for an album (Don't get me started on APPS!!!). If I purchased it why can't I "unpurchase" it???!!!
And yes, I have turned off "Automatic Downloads."
Any ideas Apple?

My itunes does not download music from icloud

I cannot down load all my music content i purchased in itunes onto my PC, i have itunes on my pc with a clous with the arrow showing available for download but does not donwload when i click the cloud icon

You can attempt to reset the device by holding the home and power button down for 15 to 30 seconds and then when you see the silve apple let go and let the device start normally and attempt to download the movie again. Also could be an issue that there is an error when downloading the content. Have you tried to download the item to your pc via itunes then just sync to your iPad?

ITunes does not download music from iTunes Store

Hi,
I am using iTunes 7.2. on OS 10.3.9.
I can access iTunes and I can add songs to the shopping cart, but when I try to buy them nothing happens. I log into the iTunes Store, but when it says buying shopping cart, nothing happens.
iTunes Store did work before. Has Apple changes anything, so that the Store does not work with iTunes 7.2. anymore?
A tech rep suggested it might have to do with Safari and that I would need to upgrade to Safari 2.0. But 2.0 only runs on Tiger, which I don't have.
Any suggestions anyone?
