  • ITunes won't sync my music to my iPhone

I am trying to get music from my iTunes to my iPhone but it won't transfer any of the songs to it. Even if uncheck sync all music and choose exactly what i want it will sync but it wont add or delete anything ive told it too. Ive told it to sync multiple times and it goes through the steps of doing so but it doesnt do anything to all. Also the songs im trying to get on my iPhone are songs from CDs ive imported they arent in the Cloud so i cant download them. Help anyone?? Thanks

    Hi,
I had the same music sync problem after updating to iTunes 11.1.
I called 1-800-MY-APPLE and they've had several people calling in about this.
I am on Win7, and trying to transfer to iPhone 4S.
    Here's what worked for me:
    1. After connecting phone to computer, go to Summary tab, scroll down to Options and ensure only "Synch only check songs and videos" is checked.
    2. Then go to Music tab and UNCHECK everything you have checked.  (you can do this by checking the top entry, then click on the bottom entry while pressing Control, then click on it again to uncheck all).
    3. Then click on SYNC.
    4.  This wipes out all your music on the iphone BUT leaves it there with a "cloud" symbol so you can download vai wifi cloud if you want.
    5. Now go back to Music Tab and select some song to bring over, and click on SYNC and see if it works.
    It did for me!
But now you have to add all your songs again. Yay.
    Good luck.

  • ITunes won't sync some music videos to iPhone?

    Hey gang-
I have lots of iTunes purchased music videos in iTunes that I also sync and enjoy on my iPhone 3gs. But I also have some music videos that I made myself from video I shot. They display and play fine in iTunes on my Mac.
But the weird thing is the ones I made will NOT sync to my iPhone. Now- I recall learning something about this a few years ago. I seem to recall iPod and iPhone are much more "fussy" than Desktop iTunes about what they consider to be a Music Video. Something to do with Metatags, but it was very specific about which ones?
    Here's what I do know:
    1) Both my types of music videos appear in the Music Videos Smart playlist in iTunes on my Mac.
    2) When I Get Info, both types of Music Videos show Media Kind of "Music Video" on the Options tab.
    3) Both play Audio and Video perfectly in iTunes on my Desktop Mac
    4) But the ones I made will NOT sync to my iPhone, even though the playlist they are in is selected and "Include Music Videos" is selected in the iTunes Sync Music tab.
Can anyone remember what the "magic" is to getting iPhone to get on the same page with iTunes on Music Videos? Running iTunes 10.2.1 and Snow Leopard 10.6.6 and iOS 4.2.1 on iPhone 3gs
    Thanks gang!
    Dave

Select the videos that won't sync and use the iTunes Advanced menu > Create iPod or iPhone Version. iTunes will create a version for your iPhone while leaving the original in place, which you may retain or delete at your option.
    Jim-
Okay, next time I promise to at least challenge you a little bit LOL!
Yes, that fixed it instantly. Many thanks!

  • My iTunes won't sync my music with my iPhone 4

I noticed some songs were missing from my iPhone so I unsynced all the songs. When I tried to put them all back on my phone they don't sync. It says they're synced but no luck.

  • ITunes won't sync my music with my iPhone

I updated iTunes and my iPhone 4 to the latest versions, now my music won't sync. It gets to step 5 of 5 and says "waiting for changes to be apllied." After saying this for a good 3 mins the sync prosses just quits and my music hasn't synced. I ran the sync diagnostics and it came back that everything is good. Clearly it's not though.

    Close and relaunch iTunes.
    Reboot the computer.
Try a different USB port and cable.

  • My itunes won't sync new music to my iphone

I've got the 'selected songs, playlists and albums' option on, and I have selected a number of albums that I want to have on my iphone4s and it used to sync those ones fine. But as of 2 or 3 months ago it won't sync any others, and it won't let me change the ones that are on there currently. I have made sure my software on everything is updated, I've restarted everything, I've tried deleting all music and reinstalling it, nothing's worked. Any suggestions?

It just randomly decided to work, and sync'd another 120 or so songs, so I guess the question is closed. I didn't do anything to change it, I just hit sync for the n'th time and got lucky I guess?

  • Itunes don't sync Outlook calender with IPad/IPhone

When I use Itunes to sync Outlook 2013, installed on Windows 8, with IPad/IPhone it will not sync the calender, but the contacts sync very well.
What do I do to solve the problem?
AND ICloud is NOT a solution.

    Hey there Tommy,
It sounds like your contacts are syncing without issue, but your calendar info is not. I recommend the troubleshooting from the article named:

  • My iTunes will not sync my music to my iPhone 5.

I have made sure I have the correct box checked on the summary page within the options box and on the music page, but my phone does not show any music. What am I missing?

Okay, just figured out a roundabout way of getting your new music to sync, but it's not pretty. I was having trouble adding new songs to a  preexisting playlist that was already synced to my phone, so I found that I unsynced that whole playlist and then re-added it back, my new songs were there. It's annoying, but at least it worked...
UGHHH never mind!!! Doing that only synced ONE new song, not all of them! ***

  • I can't sync new music onto my iPhone?

I have a black 32GB iPhone 5. I've had the phone for about 7 months and I've had no problems with it until recently. My iTunes won't sync new music onto my iPhone. I've tried switching the cable and checking and unchecking music, but it doesn't work. When I tried to uncheck all the music and sync it, the music stayed on my phone. Tracks that I've deleted stay on my phone, and new tracks won't sync to my phone. I recently downloaded an album from iTunes, and the songs on the album appeared on my phone through iCloud. However, new songs that I haven't purchased through iTunes won't sync. How can I fix this problem?

What happens when you try? We're not psychic...

  • ITunes set to Sync no music, yet there's music on my iPhone

I've been battling this for awhile and got desperate, and yet - iTunes sync does not seem to work as I think it should.
In iTunes I select my phone, and set the Music options to:
    "Sync Music" - checked
"Selected playlists, artists, etc." - checked
"Playlists" "Artists" "Albums" and "Genres" all have NO check marks.
    On the iPhone 4S:
Settings / Music / Show All Music - NOT Green (message is "Only music that has been downloaded to this device will be shown.").
    Sync
I still have hundreds of songs on my phone.
If nothing is checked in iTunes to Sync, and I click Sync, why doesn't it Sync - as in, why doesn't it delete all the music off my phone?
Now, the real problem was that there was one Playlist that wouldn't Sync, or download to my phone.
During the Sync process it kept coming back saying I needed 1.4Gb of additional free space.  (That didn't make sense since all the songs in that Playlist were already on the phone, but no matter).
So I deleted a bunch of Apps. and that didn't free up enough space, or so the message said.
So I tried, via the steps above, to delete all my music, and yet it's still there.
And no, my Playlist, if checked, does not Sync.
One other trivia tidbit - if I check just one song in iTunes, the color bars at the bottom show almost zero blue, for "Audio."  Then if I uncheck it, it shows over 7Gb of Audio.  That seems backwards and nonsensical.
So, in order, my "needs" (request for help):
    * How do I get a playlist to show up on my iPhone?
    * Why does Syncing. with the options above, which should delete all music from the phone, leave all music on the phone?
    * Why would checking one song in iTunes show that a little space would be used by Audio, but unchecking it (leaving all boxes unchecked) show over 7Gb of Audio would be there?  (See question above - there's nothing checked, so it should be zero, right?)

Music can end up on your iPhone in different ways, not just by auto-syncing.  For example ...
iTunes purchases made directly from the device.  These can remain on the iPhone even after you sync to your library (which should copy them from your iPhone to your library).  Purchases made from the iPhone can remain in either of two ways I've seen -- a "Purchased" playlist that automatically gets created and the songs remain on the device until you delete the playlist and its contents (either right from the iPhone, or via iTunes).  But sometimes there's no such playlist and these purchases remain in a "Manually added" state.  If you look in iTunes where you set your Music sync settings, scroll to the bottom of that window and look for a "Manually added items" category.  It will only be there if such items exist on your device.  If you see this, select all items in this category and delete them, then initiate a sync.
As a variation of the above, if you ever did have "Show all music" turned ON and tapped a cloud, those items will be downloaded and can act like new purchases as described above, where they may end up in the "Manually added items" category.  If you don't see them in this category, just for kicks turn "Show all music" ON and download one song from the cloud -- you may then see that song, and perhaps several others in your "Manually added items" category.
Another possibility -- even if you auto-sync you can still manually drag and drop music from your library to your iPhone.  Such items end up in the "Manually added items" category described above.  If you see these, select and delete them, then initiate a sync.
As a final suggestion, you may have to do what I did -- temporarily change your iPhone to "Manually manage music and video", then Apply the change.  Then navigate to your iPhone's contents while connected to iTunes.  If you see music on the iPhone, select all songs and then delete.  But, you're not done -- to really make this stick, perform a backup to iTunes while your iPhone is still in Manual mode and empty of all songs.  Then Restore the iPhone, load your backup back in place, which should then put your apps back on -- and no music.  Now change back to auto sync, select your Music sync choices, then start auto-syncing.  Hopefully that nukes the rogue songs for you ... it did for me when I first installed iOS 7, and then again after doing an iOS update.

You don't need to delete anything from your phone or you old computer.
Copy the entire /Music/iTunes/ folder from old computer or backup to /Music/ on new computer.
If you cannot use the old computer or don't have a backup...
-> Recovering your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device
Then immediately make a backup of your new computer.
Get an external drive and plug it in and use -> Time Machine

  • When I try to sync my music on my iPhone 4 I have a tab at the top that says 'on this iPhone' The music in that tab is always on my phone but does not show in my itunes library.  How can I get it into my library?

When I try to sync my music on my iPhone 4 I have a tab at the top that says 'on this iPhone'.  This is at the end of all the other tabs like info, ringtones, music etc. The music in that tab is always on my phone but does not show in my itunes library.  How can I get it into my library?  It doesn't sync either.

The new iTunes has a somewhat different look from the previous version.  You can get the old look back if you prefer it by doing View > Show Sidebar in iTunes.  Or you can adapt to the new look.

I have over 1000 songs on my iphone and want to back it up on my mac itunes
Want to upgrade my iphone and dont want to loose my music and ideally want to import it onto my new iphone
    Need help?

Your i-device was not designed for unique storage of your media. It is not a backup device and media transfer was planned with you maintaining a master copy of your media on a computer which is itself properly backed up against loss.  To use a device with a new computer you transfer the content from the old computer (or its backup) directly to the new computer, not the device to the new computer. Syncing is one way, computer to device, updating the device content to the content on the computer, not updating or restoring content on a computer. The exception is iTunes Store purchases which can be transferred to a computer.
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1848 - only purchases from iTunes Store
For transferring other items from an i-device to a computer you will have to use third party commercial software.  See this document by turingtest2: Recovering your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device - https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3991
