ITune not in sync with outlook...

Hi every one...my firts post here in this forum..
I just got my first ipod (5thG 30gig)and have the latest iTunes installed(v.7.0.2.16)with OS Windows XP SP2.
When i try and sync my contacts and calender from outlook iTunes keeps crashing saying it's encountered a problem and must quit.... I can still use iTunes to load music etc. but as soon as i tic the box for sync with outlook it crashes...
Is there anyone else with the same problem...and more importenly....is there a solution??
I've downloaded "ipodsync" trial version so i do have all the info on my ipod, trial runs out shortly and will need to use iTunes to sync my calender etc. I could buy the product but it would seem uneccesary since iTune is "allegedly" capable of doing the job.
Please help...!!!!!

I think I may have solved this problem by making sure I don't have conflicts in my Outlook Calendar.
To find conflicts, open Outlook and view your Calendar and set the view to "Active Appointments" (list of current calendar entries) and check that the list doesn't include entries with warnings (a red icon is shown beside the appointment I think). Fix the conflicts and then the Calendar sync might start to work.
I had the same problem as you and then I started experimenting with Outlook macros for exporting in bulk the Calendar. When running my macro against Calendar entries, I came across an error message while debugging that made me clue-in on this problem.

  • TS4118 Ever since I got the iphone 5  my phone/icloud calender and contacts will not remain synced with Outlook.  I am constantly having to sign in and sign out and  unlink and re link to Outlook.

Ever since I got the iphone 5  my phone/icloud calender and contacts will not remain synced with Outlook.  I am constantly having to sign in and sign out and  unlink and re link to Outlook.  this creates multiple categories of contacts and calenders and I have no idea which is syncing with my phone, ipad, outlook.  Help.  thanks.

Sounds like the Outlook plugin isn't working properly.  You could try a couple of things:
Go to Start>Control Panel>Add/Remove Programs, uninstall iCloud, the download and install the iCloud contol panel for Windows again from here: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1455.  Then sign back into your iCloud account and check your syncing settings again.
Uninstall iTunes and all of its components as by following this guide exactly: Windows XP or Windows Vista/7, then reinstall iTunes.  You must follow this guide exactly or it will not be successful.  (Uninstalling iTunes will only remove the application; it will not touch your iTunes library or data.)  This will replace the Outlook plugin.
Then try your calendar again and see if it will sync properly now.

  • Fix for iTunes 9.1 sync with Outlook 2007

Like many others, iTunes 9.1 broke syncing my iPhone 3G calendar and contacts with my Outlook 2007 (Windows 7). Here’s what worked for me:
    1. Uninstall all Apple software, using the instructions in this tech note:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923
    2. Download iTunes 9.0.3.15 and install it. (Search the Web for it, no thanks to Apple.)
    3. Restore from backup week-old copies of the iTunes library files “iTunes Library.itl” and “iTunes Music Library.xml”, since the latest versions were written by version 9.1 and not readable 9.0.3.15.
    4. Restore things I had changed in my iTunes in the last week.
    Things that didn’t work:
    a. The steps in this Apple tech note:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1692
including resetting sync history and disabling third-party Outlook add-ins.
    b. Restoring the iPhone to factory settings and then syncing.
    c. Help > Run Diagnostics > iPhone / iTouch Sync Test.

You are exactly right. iTtunes 9.1 breaks the sync with Outlook 2007. Tried all the fixes and even got a new phone from the Apple Store after being "helped" by customer support. It's not your phone, it's the update. iTtunes 9.0 works fine. The customer support people will tell you this is the first they have heard of it. Delete 9.1, search web for 9.0, and install. I could not do system restore since I installed and uninstalled about 10 different things troubleshooting. I just deleted iTunes library from program files (hope my iPod will put music back) to get around the library file problem. Now works. Hey, maybe we should work for Apple since we know more than their tech support people. Can't believe they are not aware of issue between the iPhone and Outlook.

  • ITunes no longer syncs with Outlook

Hi, I'm doing research on behalf of a client....
He's running Win7 Pro x64, Outlook 2010, iTunes 10.7, iOS 6 on both his new iPhone 5 and iPad 2 wifi only model.
He has a strange hybrid exchange going on in his office; his former IT provider never fully set it up, so he's using exchange for calendar & contacts, but email is POP.
For several years, he's happily been using iTunes to sync his calendar & contacts with Outlook.
That recently stopped working, and it seems like it must have been caused by either iTunes 10.7 and/or iOS 6.
What happens now when we plug either device into his desktop is it starts the sync process, says it's syncing calendars or contacts (step 2 of 6) and goes no further; it will sit there for as long as you let it with the little bar spinning, making you think it's working, but nothing ends up happening. iTunes does not freeze and otherwise works normally.
Here are a few of the steps I've tried to make iTunes sync his data with Outlook:
    - Repaired .PST file, found & fixed errors.
    - Repaired .OST (exchange cache on computer) file, found and fixed errors.
    - Repaired Office software itself.
    - Completely removed all Apple software and reinstalled iTunes.
    - Forced sync
    - Tried removing calendars & contacts from iPhone & iPad and forcing a sync.
    - Deleted iDevice backup from within iTunes & tried a sync.
When I uncheck the Outlook sync options in iTunes, the sync completes successfully. So clearly there's a big issue with the Outlook sync component here.
Does anyone have any insight at all as to how we can solve this?
At this point I'm working on moving him entirely to Exchange so that everything will sync wirelessly over Activesync, but that's going to be more expensive and involved than getting iTunes to work like it used to .
    Thank you

  • Fix for iTunes 9.2 sync with Outlook 2007 ?

Itunes 9.1 and now Itunes 9.2 won't sync contacts, calendar or notes with Outlook 2007 for Iphone 3gs.
I waited for the latest release in the hope Apple would have fixed this issue.
When the iphone syncs in itunes, an error message of 'Outlook Sync Client has stopped working'.
    Any ideas on a fix?
    Thanks.

    Check to make sure the Outlook plugins are installed and active;
    Start Outlook >
    Tools > Trust Center > Add-ins
    You'll need to see 2 add-ins; :
"iTunes Outlook Addin" and "Microsoft Outlook Mobile Service", both under the Active Applications Addin heading.
If either is missing, then do a repair install of Microsoft Outlook/Office and/or a repair install of iTunes. To do the former, go to Programs (and Features) in the control panel, find Office/Outlook, highlight it and then click on change at the top. You may need the original install CD and you will need to restart your PC. You will NOT lose any data or settings with a repair install. iTunes is the same procedure, except you click on Repair, rather than change.
    Good Luck!

  • Itunes not in sync with Ibooks

    Hi All,
Since Mavericks, the books synchronization system has changed.
As far as I understood, Ibooks is supposed to take care of all the collection and synchronize purchased books to all devices (iPad, iPhone, etc.).
Note that iBooks does not contain only Apple-purchased books, but imported items (free, purchased from a 3rd party, private PDF, etc.).
Concerning these other books , iTunes is supposed to take care of the synchronisation through the same old iTunes tab.
Here is my issue: I would expect that iTunes lists all my books, iBooks-purchased AS WELL AS imported items, allowing to sync them all or only selected ones.
But it seems that iTunes totally lost synchronization with my library. It does not show newly imported files. It still show old deleted imported files, but without cover.
Is it only me or is it a total mess ?
Maybe my iTunes library or cache is totally broken. Any suggestion on how I could restore it ?
    Thank you for your help.
    Best regards.

  • Itunes not completing sync with Iphone 4! Help!!!

Have an HP laptop running Windows 7. Using Itunes to sync Iphone 4.
Last week I connected the Iphone 4 to computer and Itunes updated my phone to IOS 4.3.5.
After the update to the Iphone 4, Itunes started syncing with my phone. Now, it gets to step 5 and says 'optimizing 44 of 46' then I get the message 'Itunes has stopped working'. I have uninstalled Itunes and Quicktime and am still getting the same problem.
    Can anyone help?
    Thank you!

OK, Doughboy, i didn't get much help on here, but I may have found a solution!
IF you are having the same situation I've been having, then this should work, it did for me.
I had my Iphone 4 updated current and Itunes was the latest version. BUT when I plugged in my Iphone to sync it with Itunes, it got all the way to step 5 of 5 and, during 'Optimizing', Itunes stopped working.
Here's what I did: The first thing is to copy your current pictures to a new folder on your computer. If they are in Libraries>Pictures>MyPictures, create a new folder (I named it Pictures 2, so it was now located in Libraries>Pictures>Pictures 2). Then copy the pics to the new folder.
I then plugged in Iphone 4 to my computer. Itunes starts up automatically. When my Iphone shows up on the left side of Itunes, i clicked on it and then clicked on the photos tab in the upper right area. Uncheck the 'Sync photos from' box, then check the 'Sync photos from' box again and then clicked on the drop down box to the right of 'Sync Photos from' and clicked on 'choose folder'. I then selected the new pictures folder (in my case 'pictures 2'). Then you click 'apply' in the bottom right corner, then 'sync'. It worked perfectly for me!!! Good luck!!!

  • Windows 8 iTunes not allowing "sync" with iPod

New laptop with Windows 8. Downloaded iTunes software. Manage to upload songs from iPod. But after purchasing new music, could not sync back to iPod. The iPod icon is there but the option to "sync" under Devices is grayed out. Any ideas?  Thanks, Yvonne

If you want to use the command in the menu bar
    File -> Devices -> Sync...
you must have your iPod selected in iTunes.  If the iTunes sidebar (along left side of window) is hidden, from the menu bar, under View, select Show Sidebar.  The iPod appears in the sidebar, under DEVICES, when connected.  Click on it there to select it.  Then, that command in the menu bar will be enabled.  But it does the same thing as clicking the Sync button at the lower right corner, when you have the iPod selected.
NOTE:  If you do not have the iPod set up to automatically sync your new songs, clicking on Sync will not put them on the iPod.  If you need help in setting up how iTunes syncs your iTunes library to your iPod, please post back.

  • Lync photos not get sync with outlook.

User have uploaded their photo's in Lync and can be viewed. However users are unable to see it. Also the attribute
    called thumbnailPhoto is showing blank.
    We have also enabled attribute
is replicated to the Global Catalog, by using for example the Schema Snap-In:

    Hi,
How do users upload the photo in Lync? What’s the Lync client version, Lync 2010 or Lync 2013?
If you are using Lync 2010, please note that Lync 2010 does not offer a direct method to import a picture to the
thumbnailPhoto attribute. For more information about it, please click
    here.
If you are using Lync 2013, and want to change the photo in both Outlook 2013 and Lync 2013, we can upload the photo in the following steps:
    1. Open Outlook.
    2. Click File > Office Account.
    3. In User Information, click Change photo to edit it.
Then update Address Book in Outlook and restart Lync to check whether the photo is changed or not. Also we can directly upload the photo by using Exchange cmdlet Set-UserPhoto:

  • ITunes no longer syncs with outlook 2010

I am using Vista 32 bit os, office 2010. It was syncing beautifully now it says it syncs but it doesn't update calendar either direction

  • Fixing iphone sync with outlook

There are multiple threads about problems snycing iTunes with Outlook (iPad, iPhone etc.).  This affects Outlook calendar and contacts, often creating multiple contact lists and false calendar entires, often pre-fixed "ModGrp" or ModCal".  After multiple tries I think I have figured out what you need to do: here's what worked for me, I hope it works for you.
First the cause.  If your PC/Mac has crashed with Outlook open you probably have bad data in Outlook. Most software is fault-tolerant to this but not iTunes (my seventh software to link to Outlook and the only one not fault tolerant, so I'm certain it's an iTunes problem).  I have written this for solving contact problems with explanation afterwards for calendars (you'll change item 6 and read the footnote).  Read the instructions first so you know what you're about to do.  You will have to rename a folder and delete your iPhones history but otherwise that's about it.
    1)    Download scanpst.exe from Microsoft, instructions are at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/272227.  Print this, you'll need it at step 5
    2)    Close both Outlook and iTunes
    3)    Got to C:\Users\[Your username]\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\
In File Manager use Folder Options from the Tools menu and select Show hiden files and folders from the View Tab, if you can't see this folder
    4)    Rename the folder \SyncServices as \SyncServices.old or something.  Once you have finished you can delete this folder
    5)    Use scanpst.exe (step 1 above) to fix your Outlook file.  Instructions for this are at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/272227 noted above
    6)    When scanpst is complete and has closed, open Outlook and go to your contact list.  Select each ModGrp and hit Delete, then confirm deletion
    7)    Be sure not to delete any contact lists that you want to retain, then close Outlook
    8)    Open iTunes with your iPhone/Pad/iWhatever plugged in to USB and select iPhone/iPad/iWhatever
    9)    Select your iWhatever in the Devices list on the left and select Preferences from the Edit menu at the top
    10)  Click the Devices button in the dialog box and click Reset Snyc History, just in case.  Click OK to close the Dialog Box
    11)  At the top of your iPhone Device window click the Info button (second from the left right at the top)
    12)  Deselect Contacts, Calendars and Mail options so iTunes doesn't sync with Outlook in any way
You'll get a prompt to remove contacts/whatever lists from your iWhatever device.  Choose the Remove Contacts button
    13)  Hit Apply or Sync (bottom right of iTunes).  This should have cleared iTunes of bad ModGrp sync lists and iPhone contacts etc.
Next we'll restore these from Outlook
    14)  Reselect to sync with Outlook Contacts, Calendars and Mail - the options you deselected in step 12.  Hit Apply or Sync
The above should restore all the valid contact and other data from Outlook onto your iPhone etc
    15)  Once sync has completed reopen Outlook and check the bad MdGrp lists have gone.  Unplug iPhone and check you don't have multiple ModGrp lists
I haven't had calender problems but my understanding from posts to this forum is that in step 6 above, you may have to export the appointments calendars from your calendar and then delete the calendar.  It's much more involved than having a contacts list problem.
If you choose to tidy up aftwards, go back to steps 3 and 4 and delete the backup .old folder as iTunes created  a new one when you opened it at step 8.
I have run the above three times now and it works every time.  Since every tenth or so time I open iTunes it causes my PC to lock, usually with Outlook open, so I expect this to be a frequent event.  iTunes is well documented as a digustingly bad piece of software and seems to be the penalty we pay for having an iPhone, which actually works.  Maybe when Apple adopts Flash I'll buy an iPad and double the number of times I have to run it, but not otherwise.  iTunes and Flash are the two main reasons I have not bought a Mac or iPad.
    Have fun.

Hi, to remove dummy '_ModGrp' entries, rather than crashing the 'Suppr' key on your keyboard, you can use this basic VBA macro (launched for instance from Excel).
It will recursively remove all '_ModGrp...' folders
    Sub RemoveFolders_Click()
        Dim oOutlook As Outlook.Application
        Set oOutlook = New Outlook.Application
        Set objNameSpace = oOutlook.GetNamespace("MAPI")
        Call CleanFolders(objNameSpace.Folders)
    End Sub
    Sub CleanFolders(objFolders As Outlook.Folders)
        For i = objFolders.Count To 1 Step -1
            If Left(objFolders(i).Name, 7) = "_ModGrp" Then
                objFolders.Remove( i )
            Else
If Not objFolders(i).Folders Is Nothing Then
                    Call CleanFolders(objFolders(i).Folders)
                End If
            End If
        Next i
    End Sub

  • Calendar and Contact syncing with Outlook

I have I tunes 8.0.1.11 and Touch software 2.1. Up until one of the last updates (not sure which they come so quickly) my Touch with sync perfectly with Outlook. Lately it has not been syncing. I had a trial Mobile Me which I removed by uninstalling the program and the control panel but it still does not work properly. If I uncheck the sync boxes in the info tab and click apply and then recheck the boxes the entire calendar and contacts will sync, but that's pretty clumsy and takes too long. What can I do to get it working back to the old way? There must be a remnant of Mobile Me somewhere in my system.

I too have not been able to get Notes to sync with Outlook. I updated to v3.0 today, and when I tried to sync my iPod Touch to my PC, iTunes basically refused to sync Notes. It was odd: I would select the box for syncing Notes, and when I initiated a sync by clicking on Apply, the selection checkmark on Notes would uncheck during the sync. It did all the other syncs normally, to Outlook Calendar and Contacts, plus my music and apps. Plus, other aspects of functionality in v3.0 work quite well, e.g., copy and paste. In any case, I got no syncing of Notes in this new version. I created new notes in both platforms, plus activated OneNote on the PC, just in case. Nada. I also have not noticed any new "handheld synchronization" folder under Notes, either. I will try the reboot mentioned by Mac users that has been found to be necessary for the sync to work with Macs.

  • Itunes 12.1.0.71 will not sync with outlook

After installing iTunes 12.1.0.71 I can no longer sync with Outlook 2013.

I fought with this problem (iPhone 5s, Windows 8.1, Outlook 2010) for hours this weekend. I'm surprised I have any hair left. Here's how I fixed it.
Back up iTunes (shouldn't be necessary, but always a good idea):
Back up your iTunes library by copying it to an external drive - Apple Support
Uninstall iTunes (follow these carefully--lots of steps):
Remove and reinstall iTunes and related software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8 - Apple Support
Reinstall this 32-bit version of iTunes 12.1.0.71 (ignore the file name & installer window that act like it's 64-bit), "for older video cards":
iTunes 12.1 for Windows (64-bit — for older video cards)
You might follow the Reset Sync History instructions here before trying it out (not the whole page, just the Reset Sync History heading):
Troubleshooting Sync Services on Windows with Microsoft Outlook 2003, Outlook 2007, or Outlook 2010 - Apple Support
Special thanks to the last.fm Scrobbler users who tipped me off:

I was so glad it finally worked for me, I bothered to set up an account here. Good luck!
