Just had a similar problem that I believed I solved
after a little fishing around with different options.
I located my music files (made sure they were backed
up, along with a copy of my library file just in
case).
Then selected all songs in the library in Itunes and
deleted them.
Then I used the 'add to library' command in the file
menu. With this option I selected the folder that
contained all my music (Itunes Music is where I keep
them).
All the songs were added to the library just fine and
now work. This also preserved my play lists which
was a big concern. This went pretty quickly, but I
do recall carrying out this process on my old
computer and taking a little while.
MacBookPro Mac OS X (10.4.6)
I did the same things backward for a slightly different result.
I did not delete all the items in iTunes first.
I found the iTunes file with all the song files and dropped
that on the Library in the Source list.
The result was that I had all the songs listed twice.
I keep my listing sorted by Date Added. I found the first item added on the current date (somewhere in the middle of all the listings), went to the last item added on the current date, which would be the last item in the iTunes list, held down the shift key and clicked enter (selecting all the songs in between) and hit delete.
When the dialog boxed asked I hit Keep Files.
This got rid of all the duplicate listings which were added by dropping the iTunes file on the Library but corrected all the original items in the original order.
There were still a few songs I had to find one by one, but this ended up being the least painful method for me.

HT201272 iTunes Songs Won't Play - Bad Download?
I just downloaded an iTunes album and the first (2) songs won't play on my computer -- they skip to the 3rd song every time.
All (8) other songs play without issue.
Possibly a bad download?Yes. Delete and redownload them if doing so is free in your country.

Bought an album on iTunes. One of the 27 tracks on the album won't play. Get a pop up window saying - "This computer is not authorized to play "All Time High". Would you like to authorize it?"
I sign in with my Apple ID and password and then I get the message saying "This computer is already authorized."
How can I play the track?Click here and request assistance.

ITunes songs won't play -- "original file can't be found."
Hi,
When I click on any song, regardless of how I got it (CD, download from internet, etc.), it tells me that the song cannot be played because the original file cannot be found. It asks me whether I want to look up the file, and when I click yes, the Temp folder of iTunes opens. Any ideas? These songs used to play just fine.Well, I tried that, and I was able to play the song (so thanks!), but if that's the only way I can play my songs it's going to be very cumbersome to listen to music -- I'll have to search through several folders and choose the song within that folder every single time I want a new song. That's not a feasible way for me to have my music, though. Do you know how I can just get iTunes to find the song automatically the way it used to?

ITunes songs won't play on iPhone 5
I've had my iPhone 5 for about a year now. Never had this trouble before switching to this unit. Never took the time to try and figure out the problem, as I knew it would be a long drawn out process over the phone, but this has been an issue since day 1. I'm missing my music...and I'm ready to listen to my purchases again!!
My music is in my iTunes account on my computer...in the library. However, on my iPhone, only a small percentage of the songs are available to be played. All others are greyed out.
I searched the discussions here and saw a post that said that maybe I need to authorize my computer. Did that, didn't change anything. I restored the iPhone back to original settings and then back to my backup file. Still not able to play songs.
I also downloaded the songs from the purchased downloads in iTunes, all this did was duplicate my songs, and allow me to play the 500 songs that I can play now.
HELP!!!! I'm VERY frustrated that I have almost 2000 songs, and only about 500 that I can play. I paid for this music ($0.99 for some, $1.29 for most, that's well over $2000 spent)...I should be able to listen to my music...ON MY PHONE!!!Ok SIMPLEST and EASIEST thing to do- this WILL solve your issue:
Go to Settings->General->Usage
Wait for it to populate all the things taking up space on your iPhone. Tap "Music" and then swipe your finger from left to right over the "music" bar. the red "Delete" button will appear. Tap it.
Wait about a minute then power off your phone. Then power it back on.
Go to iTunes app on your device: then "More->Purchased->Music" you should be able to re-download ANY song bought. If you don't re-download on Wi-Fi it will eat at your cellular data plan...be advised. -
have iTunes Match, but some of the music I loaded from CDs and I can see in the iTunes store won't play. It recognizes the album but is playing literally the only 3 songs I don't want to listen to.
How do I get to play all of my music that should be stored either on the computer or in the cloud?Hi,
Initially your music should be in your iTunes library on your computer. Once match completes its scan, your music will have been matched or uploaded. I suggest that you add iCloud status column to song view. This will tell you what has been matched, uploaded, purchased, inelligible, duplicate or waiting. What is the status of your tracks that are not playing.
If space is not an issue, I suggest that you keep the music on the internal hard drive otherwise you can delete the tracks and play from cloud. In both instances, you should maintain a back up of all your music on a separate hard drive.

My songs won't play on Windows 7 version of iTunes. Everything on my PC is up to date. Windows Media Player works fine. I followed the directions and nothing has changed. I have already tried to re-install iTunes but that hasn't worked either. If anyone knows how to solve this problem please E-Mail me at [email protected] or reply to this message.
Itunes worked after reseting my computer to factory setting however had trouble again after syncing my iPod and iPod shuffle. Is this a coincidence or could it be the cause of the problem?

Hello CTGame,
Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
It sounds like there’s a grayed out song in your iTunes library that can’t be played or downloaded again like other past purchases. Try taking a look at the article linked below and verify the computer is authorized to play that content.
How to troubleshoot iTunes Match - Apple Support
Songs appear to be missing
Songs containing DRM (Digital Rights Management) might not appear in iCloud, or might appear grayed out. This can occur if your computer is not authorized to play that content. Try authorizing your computer, then manually update iTunes Match. To determine what Apple ID your computer needs to be authorized for to play a specific song:
Locate and select the song in your iTunes library.
Choose File > Get Info.
In the Summary tab, locate the Account Name field in the right column. Write it down.
Click OK.
Choose Store > Authorize this Computer.
Type in the account name from the Summary field and enter its password. Click Authorize.
Choose Store > Update iTunes Match.
So long,

My Itunes opens on my PC but the songs won't play, I have no idea about what to do?
My Itunes opens on my PC but the songs won't play. I have no idea about what to do to resolve the issue. I appreciate any help. It is an HP computer about a year old running Windows 7.
Try forgetting the network, reboot your iPad and then try joining the network again.
Settings>WiFi>Your network name>Forget this network. Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.
Go back to Settings>WiFi>Your network name>Enter your password>Tap Join.
If that doesn't work, reset network settings. Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings. Reboot the iPad again. Go back to Settings>WiFi>Your network name>Enter your password>Tap join. -

Burned and purchased songs won't play in iTunes
My wife got a new computer. Really nice rig. Runs Windows 7. And with that a new iTunes installation (she never installed the new one. she doesn't like change). All the songs she burned from CDs, and I was just informed all the songs she's bought, show up in iTunes, but won't play (I imported ALOT of stuff from an external HD onto the new computer). The music files still exist in the iTunes music folder. She can even play the song if she manually clicks on the file in that folder. But try to play the same song through iTunes and no luck. It's rather frustrating for her. And this kind of stuff doesn't exactly endear me to iTunes stuff either (and don't get me started on GameCenter on my iPhone).
Anyone know what's causing this issue and how to fix it?
Thanks. The folder you see as My Music is really called Music. Windows will present such special folders with different names depending on the context, so the same folder on my computer when viewed from another user's account would show up as Steve's Music.
What we haven't established yet is the layout of the (original) media folder which is why I suggested the other route first followed by a clean up, however I was going to recommend that you rearranged things into the standard layout and from what I can see there is no reason why it shouldn't work if you just put things where they are expected to be right now.
Here are the typical layouts for the iTunes folders:
Note that in the newer layout all artist folders go into a Music subfolder within the media folder.
If you move everything that is currently inside iTunes Music into iTunes Media, including the hidden file iTunes Preferences.plist, iTunes should pick it all up without further problems.
Once iTunes is in touch with the media if the artist folders are at the level of iTunes Media rather than iTunes Media\Music use the option File > Library > Organize Library... > Rearrange files in the folder "iTunes Media".

Only one song won't play after authorizing my computer. I authorized it over and over. I even deauthorized all computers, and still same results. How can I fix this ? I'm using a MacBook Pro with iTunes 11
Hi Deb,
Deauthorizing all is definitely the way to go. You will just need to authorize your computer again after, as well as your husband's.
Here's some additional information on deauthorizing all:

I hope this helps!
