ITune Store times out

I have three computers in the house, and all currently time out on connecting to the iTunes store (for the last 30 mins or so).
I have downloaded some songs earlier this afternoon, but now cannot connect.
I have reset the router and flushed the DNS but still no computer can connect?
Any ideas
All computers running XP MCE or XP Home, with all updates installed and with latest iTunes.

Down again tonight. And, can anyone lead me on what to search for the old thread? I have done so, but unsuccesfully.
Could anyone write a simple program that one of us can use to see what times Tiscali drop the connection? It could be between certain times, and get a few of us running it?
Could it be something to do with the Tiscali FUP? I shall try and search for this A.S.A.P. I shall also be loking around ISPs soon. However, is this only a problem with Tiscali/Pipex/123-reg (owned by Pipex). Can anyone with OrangeBt Broadband/be*/etc. confirm about iTunes sore access?
Is this something I need to take up with Apple, or will I need to talk to someone at Tiscali (joy ;-)). Anyone got any tips on what to say, how to word when I ring up? Obviously Tiscali can just say that this is Apple's problem (which I am sure it isn't, as millions of iTunes users would have complained by now). Any idea for proof?

  • Itunes wont connect to itunes store-times out

I can use my itunes to listen to music just fine, it just wont let me access itunes store. The message I get is: itunes could not connect to the itunes store. The network connection has timed out. Make sure your network settings are correct and your network connects are active then try again... I have no idea why it quit working but it did! please help me!!!

There are three possible reasons that you would get a
    connection timeout trying to connect:
    1. The iTunes Store is really, really busy right
then. Try again later. If this happens all the time
(even times that should be calm, like late at night),
then this probably isn't the case.
    2. There's software on your computer that is
interrupting iTunes' ability to connect to the iTunes
Store. You can check for software conflicts by
    following the steps in this
    article.
    3. There's something up with your ISP that is
preventing you from connecting to the iTunes Store.
The best way to check for this is to try to connect
using a different internet connection. (Like, if you
have a laptop, using a public wireless access point.)
So the first two options didnt resolve it, what do you mean try opening with another? I have a laptop-so what should i do now?

In iTunes, go "Help > Run Diagnostics". Uncheck the boxes other than Network connectivity tests, as per the following screenshot:

Thank you for your prompt reply.  I have bought 1 MacbookPor 17, 1 Macbook air, 1 MacbookPro 15 , 2 ipads, 3 iphones, and this iMac27 and 2 of iMAC24 or 20 not sure   but I do not recall ever doing what you are telling me in your reply.   When you get a extended car warranty, you don't   sign up for it.. it is just there and is included in the sale.   You don't buy this warranty to use it.. You buy it, in case something happens.   Here a perfect iMAC with minimum 100 hour useage has a dead drive.  That is not normal and I should not have to even be requesting anything since most MFG offer a 3-5 year warranty on their disc drives and I believe that is probably passed on to Apple regardless if an extended warranty is purchased or not.   Customer service dictates a more flexible approach to make sure the lifetime value of a customer is not lost due to some misunderstanding.
I was in the MacStore that I purchased the unit..and they found and pulled the invoice and confirmed
the purchase of it in front of me.  I had paid with credit card and fortunately it was there in their system.   I do not also recall recieving any box or paper although most everything I ever get remains sealed.. I am not in the habit of opening anything since I have never encountered any serious issues before.
I have used my Macbookpro warranty 1 time  and that is all throughout the years I have been investing in Apple equipment.
I just recieved a letter from the store asking me to get the paper to them so they can register it... I don't recall getting any paper actually.  But I do have several boxes sealed here..  On this iMAC27, it was a hurry up and get it done thing and I don't remember taking anything extra with it.   Regardless,  my request does not seem unreasonable.
    Thank you

  • The iTunes Store IS OUT TO GET YOU.

I just finished watching the 2nd season of Lost, and I thought to myself, "Gee, it sure would be nice to catch the first few episodes of the current season, so that I could watch along with the rest of the new episodes."
And of course, I use iTunes (although I've never used the store before), so I knew I had access at my fingertips. I set up a new account, eager to get to the episodes, and downloaded episode number one. The file was going to take a couple of minutes, so I checked my email.
Suddenly, the iTunes window disappeared from behind my email program. "What the...?"
Check the dock for confirmation -- yep. It's crashed. Gone. Not even the courtesy of an error message. I've been abandoned. I restart iTunes and sure enough, my Lost episode is gone. Check my downloads -- iTunes SAYS it downloaded just fine. And that I'll be charged accordingly. I scour my hard drive for anything resembling a video file that might be recoverable. Nada. Zip. Nothing.
Now, 1.99... not the end of the world. I'm more upset about the episode -- and since I'm not allowed to download it again unless I pay for it once more -- well. I'm a firm believer in the "Fool me once..." philosophy. So I shoot off a nasty email to iTunes store support, and I begin rooting around for the place where I'm allowed to cancel my account -- no point in leaving my credit card information out there in cyberspace if there's no use in it, right?
Yeah. That was a long time ago. Still haven't found it. Either Apple has so effectively buried the iTunes store account cancellation website/hotline #/post address/CB handle that I cannot locate the tiniest shred of evidence that it even exists -- or it just doesn't exist.
Is this legal? If I have an account with a store and they have my personal information on file, including my credit card number, aren't I allowed to cancel that account and force them to remove my information from their records? I understand of course that they can keep the info until they verify the payment on services and products I've already purchased (although 'purchase' usually implies 'receipt of goods'). But I have no long-term commitment with Apple. All they are doing is putting me at risk of financial loss through identity theft. After all, my credit card number is longer and harder to guess than, say, my iTunes store password.
This is all very scary to me. I just want to go to Blockbuster and forget that the iTunes store even exists.
    powerbook 17   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

    Max,
I'm really sorry to hear that you've had a bad experience with iTunes. I've been using iTunes and Mac OS since 2003 and have had great luck. I mention this for a reason, though there are users that have been around longer than I, I've used os 10.2 - 10.4. That being said, I noticed that you're using 10.3.9 and I'm wondering why you haven't upgraded. You may have experienced an error the way you described because of the operation system you are using. I know that sounds far fetched, but actually, it's not. 10.3.8 was good but it had airport stability issues. Soon after it was patched with 10.3.9 and the whole system because solid all the way through. Now Apple builds software to support x number of years of hardware and creates software to function on x number of system versions; however, new versions of iTunes (for example) are going to take advantage or newer OS releases. I've been brave and kept current versions of iLife suites with current versions of OS X and everything has been solid as a rock, I promise. I would have presumed that it was related to Windows XP, which most extreme problems are, but you're on a PowerBook just as I am.
All of that aside, imagine the sheer volume of users on iTunes at any given point. Take all the Mac users in the US and then Expand that to Windows users too. Then expand that to several countries with both operating systems. (Want proof, look at everyone walking around with white earbuds.) I could imagine how it's hard to get a response so be a squeeky wheel because sooner or later you'll get some grease. I'm not trying to tell you, "tough," or anything of the nature. I feel bad that you are uncomfortable with iTunes. I assure you it's been great and I bet if you upgrade to 10.5 when it's released, you'll find less quarks. By the way, I've experienced less of "This app has unexpectedly quit" while using 10.4 that when using 10.3.
    Best of luck to you.

  • IPad asked iTunes Store Password out of Nowhere

    Hello,
I'm using a 3rd generation iPad. Earlier in the day I was deleting some apps to make some space for the big iOS 8 upgrade. I have apps downloaded by two different Apple ID accounts and I probably deleted some apps which belong to both of them. Anyway my actual question is while I was doing that iTunes Store screen popped out from nowhere. I wasn't downloading or upgrading an app. And I didn't select the "upgrade automatically" option. I read some of the similiar stuff here but most of them was saying that it keeps doing that, mine was just a one time thing.
Do you have any idea what was it?

Given the spate of identity thefts as of late (think of Jennifer Lawrence's nudie pix getting swiped from her phone), usage profiling has probably been tightened down. So, whenever you do something out of your ordinary workflow, the system automatically triggers a validation to make sure you are you. My credit card does that whenever I try to purchase something way different or more expensive.

  • ITunes store temp out of service...HELP!!!

I have been trying to get on to the iTunes store now for over 24 hours...my message says "*We could not complete your iTunes store request* : The iTunes store is temporarily out of service. try again later"
Is anyone else having this problem!? I am getting quite annoyed!!!

Yes! I'm having the same issue, and it has been coming up for about a week now. It started with an error about Itunes not being available in the US and now I'm getting a message that says "We could not complete your Itunes store request. The itunes store is temporarily out of service. try again later."
I've tried downloading a new version but it times out every time I try to install it. I've also deleted McAfee off of my computer. Not sure what else to do.

Katrina, yes those are the instructions I used. I just executed the steps outlined three additional times (meticulously) and the issue I have is, at step 14, after restart, I do not receive the "Windows has blocked startup programs" message... System starts "normally", when I attempt to run iTunes I am informed that iTunes needs to repair software required to communicate with iPods and iPhones... Whether I choose to allow iTunes to restore these services or not, the outcome remains the same, "connection timed out" at iTunes store. Cannot download podcasts, cannot access internet through Quicktime either... Other than that Firefox works just fine.

  • Itunes download times out

Just purchased the new my chemical romance album, and the itunes store didnt want to download the 4th song, but got all the others done, so i re-check for purchases and it starts downloading until it hits 1.0 mb, then the download count-down timer just goes up and the download speed goes down until it finally just tells me it timed out, its done it all day, i thought maybe it was something wrong with the itunes store and they would realize it and fix it but now its night and i did this at like 6 in the morning, so it must be something else wrong, i paid for this album and i cant get it all, someone please help.
    thx

What web browser are you using for the download, Ltoko? Does it make any difference if you use IE (say) rather than Firefox, or vice versa?

  • ITunes shows time out error when trying to play on Airport Express.

Time out error when trying to play on Airport Express. This started with an iTunes update, problems has to be with iTunes, Airport Express appears to be communicating fine, even shows when speakers are not connected.

Same here, though on XP. Have tried cleaning registry, reinstalling, deleting preferences. Created a new user with no library and I have the problem there, too, so it's not the library.
Is there no one to call about this??

  • How do I fix problems with iTunes Store timing out when I search for music?

So, I downloaded iOS 7 not too long ago. However, when I tried to do a search on the iTunes Store app, it keeps timing out (it also stalls when I attempt view a song list on a specific album. My phone has no cosmetic or liquid damage, and. I have already performed a soft reset on the phone. Does anybody have a solution, or is this just a bug in the new software that needs to be fixed?

Also having problems connecting to the App Store without it timing out.
