Itune uninstall/reinstall

Hi,
Itunes will not start "itunes has encountered a problem and needs to close etc etc"
Have used some of the tips on this forum including Windows Clean up utility to remove program. Then try to remove using Add remove programs by right clicking on itunes folder in C/program files and selecting delete. However, i recieve a message that reads:
'cannot delete iTunesHelper.exe: Access denied. Make sure disk is not full or write protected and that the file is not currently in use".
I get similar message when i try to delete iPod and Quicktime folders
Where to from here?
Thanks in advance

Here is a link from the Apple Knowledgebase on removing iTunes and quicktime.
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93698
It includes advice about the Ipod service problem.
Not being able to delete the Quicktime folder is usually becuase you have Quicktime in the system tray, there is an option to close this.
Did you follow the advice about restarting your computer after uninstalling the programs? This will ensure that the iTunesHelper task is not running when you try to delete the iTunes folder in c:\Program Files.
Here is a link to "Trouble installing or opening iTunes or QuickTime for Windows" In case you don't have it.

  • ITunes; uninstalling/reinstalling; iPod...a lot of problems...

A few months ago, my computer suffered a hiccup and went to the recovery console. During this time, all major programs on my computer, including iTunes, were deleted from the hard drive. Everything had to be installed. I didn't bother trying to deal with the iTunes problem until a day ago when I finally got it in what looked like running order.
When I connected my iPod (3rd gen. nano) it didn't show up in iTunes. (Also, my iTunes icon was a green music note and I'm pretty sure iTunes has a blue music note, don't know if that's significant, but it can't hurt). It also had some issues ejecting the iPod (i.e. it wouldn't let me from the "safely remove hardware" icon in the system tray) and I had to eject from My Docs. I tried resetting the iPod using the menu & center button but did not put it into disk mode. When today I tried to uninstall iTunes & Quicktime and reinstall a new version, it looked like it had uninstalled and was installing fine, but it got to a certain point and it said "stopping processes" and it froze. At this point, an error message popped up:
"Error 1921. Service iPod Service (iPodService) could not be stopped. Verify that you have sufficent privileges to stop system services"
At that point, I came to the forum for help.
I read a few things that said I should stop iPodService.exe from the task manager as well as "AppleMobileDevice" but I didn't want to do that unless absolutly necessary.
I'm hoping that since I created an account (I had been using my sister's before the computer went into recovery mode) that will solve the problem.
Also, the green-music-note-version of iTunes doesn't seem to have an uninstall feature so I'm not sure how I'm supposed to go about a full uninstall.
I hope I've given enough information and someone can give me a helping hand.
If there is any other information that someone needs to help diagnose the problem, I'm more than happy to provide it.

  • Itunes uninstall/reinstall PROBLEM.

So, when I tried to download itunes 10.5, it didn't work, so I uninstalled itunes. I deleted all the residual programs I could find manually and with Revo. But every time I download itunes, it will go until the end and then gets stuck on "publishing product information" and never finishes.

Let's try the following user tip with that one:

  • I've just updated my iPhone to the new iPhone OS and now it won't work and iTunes won't recognise that it's there.  I've uninstalled iTunes and reinstalled twice and it's not working.  Please help.

I've just updated my iPhone to the new iPhone OS and now it won't work and iTunes won't recognise that it's there.  I've uninstalled iTunes and reinstalled twice and it's not working.  Please help.

I have not had wifi since November when I upgraded to the newest IOS version.  I called the Apple help line and they told me some things to do and I tried them all and they worked for a few hours and then wifi shut off again.  I kept doing what they told me and it worked for a couple more days and then I could never turn it on again.  My blue tooth doesn't work either.  I had to actually increase my data usage with AT&T becuase of this.  When I did that in December I went to the Apple store and was told that it is a hardware issue and since my phone is out of warranty I would have to pay for a new phone because they could not fix the issue.  My upgrade isn't up until June 2014 so not only do I have to wait for the upgrade and I am not paying for a new phone but I have to pay $10 plus extra a month on my cell phone bill because I was going over on my Data!!!  I have been beyond upset about this and Apple is not doing anything about this nor did they offer up some way to resolve the issue because obviously it is not just some rare incident if several people are having this issue.  Who knows how many people out there have had this issue and have not said anything about it.  Now there is a newer update that I can't do because it requires wifi in order to download.
June can not get here fast enough and I may not go back to Iphone after dealing with this for so long with no help from Apple.

  • I am havign huge problems getting itunes 11.1.4 working on my windows 7 laptop. I have run itunes for some years, and regularly updated it when prompted. I have followed many of the suggestions e.g. uninstalling reinstalling, etc

I have spent hours trying to get itunes working on my laptop.
The only functinoality I crave is to be able to get pictures off my iphone 5 (which has the latest ios installed.), as almost all other functinoality of itunes I find painful beyond belief. It has the worst ergonomics I think of any software I have ever used, which is bizarely at odds with the mobile decvices, which by and large work quite nicely (indeed, why I bought them!)
My laptop runs windows 7. It has all the latest microsoft updates installed (I am religious about this: it always has had.)
I have run itunes on this machine for some years, regularly updating when I am prompted to.
A few days back i was prompted to update to 11.1.4
It failed to install badly. whatever I try at some point during the install process the installer just hangs, or never terminates.
All communication between computer and iphone functionality has been lost.
Nothing eles on my machine is behaving oddly. slowly etc. it is only apple stuff that isn't working.
I googled and found a lot of recurring themes on apple forums:
    So far I have tried:
uninstalling / reinstalling. (hangs during installation).
Restarting the machine between uninstall and reinstall.
Searching and removing any directories/ contents related to apple, after the uninstall, prior to machine reboot.
I have even used iobit uninstaller, as removing apple software as you know is almost impossible (ever tried disabbling the quicktime updater that runs at startup? it's like a virus !!)
I have removed all apple software incl quicktime.
I have tried the microsoft software installer fixit link often posted to.
i have tried unpacking the apple installation file, using the latest version of winrar, to try installing one at a time.
I have found the installation is very very very slow (it looks as though it hangs, but i leave it running in the background, after 15-20 minutes, the status starts advancing for example). so far I have managed to install the first few components up to applesoftware  update, msi, and they seem to need to be run multiple times.
(this last one took about 40 minutes).
I have been very careful to install / uninstall the software components int eh "prescribed" order.
I have tried each step multiple times, rebooting the machine numerous times, cleaning temp folders (with ccleaner) etc.
I ave tried installing when my virus checker AVG is disabled.
(i have virus checked the machine with AVG and malware bytes, I have the latest microsft security essential updates installed.)
I ahve tried stopping apple services (as suggested in one of the apple forum posts).
As you can gather I'm seriously tearing my hair out.
I presume there is some kind of generic bug in this installer: as a friend had exactly the same problem on sunday night, with a different machine, running windows 7, and a couple of her colleagues at work has had the self same problem over the weekend, though none of them seem to have gone to the lengths I have yet !
I tried doing a system restore, but my machine seems to have lunched all previous system restore points, so I can't . Arrrrrgggg !
Is an older version of itunes available so i can install that instead ?
What should I do next ?

  • I have a problem with my computer recognizing my new iphone when i uninstall itunes and reinstall it does not download properly and bonjour will not load any ideas of what to do

I have a dell lap top with windows 7 that won't recognize my iphone 5c. The driver's will not install with out a problem, I talked to apple support to try to fix this problem, I unistalled itunes and reinstalled it, now itunes did not download properly, bonjour does not load and i can not burn cds, I have uninstalled and reinstalled twice with the same problem. If anyone can point me in the right direction that would be great

You are right, but how could i send it to Apple? when the phone company first replaced my iphone they had in stock alots of iphones and they just sent mine back to Apple and gave me a new one, so all i did is to give them my phone, but now how could i sent it to Apple? and i cant send it by myself, and the store wont do that, its a lost for them.. so sending it to Apple wasnt an option from the begining.
and for the record, i dont think the store where i bought it is an authorized shop.. its just a store who boughts phone's from Apple in a low price and sells it in much more money..

  • TS3694 When I try to uninstall or install iTunes it ask me for a disk.  I do not have a disk.  I am trying to uninstall the iTunes to reinstall it.  Thanks.

When I hook my iPad to my Sony Vaio running Windows 7, the unistall program gives me a msg to uninstall the Apple Mobile Application and iTunes to upgrade a driver.  When I try to uninstall iTunes, the unistall program shows a msg "the program you are trying to unistall is on disk, please install the disk to continue.'  I did not install the program from a disk but downloaded from the Apple Website.  Does anyone know what causes this and how can I unistall iTunes to reinstall it.  Thanks.

    (1) Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility installer file (msicuu2.exe) from the following Major Geeks page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):
    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
    (2) Doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file and follow the prompts to install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (If you're on a Windows Vista or Windows 7 system and you get a Code 800A0046 error message when doubleclicking the msicuu2.exe file, try instead right-clicking on the msicuu2.exe file and selecting "Run as administrator".)
    (3) In your Start menu click All Programs and then click Windows Install Clean Up. The Windows Installer CleanUp utility window appears, listing software that is currently installed on your computer.
    (4) In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
    (5) Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

  • ITunes won't open, even after complete uninstall/reinstall of iTunes/Qktime

    Hello
This morning iTunes started refusing to open. When opened it bounces twice and then closes.
Strange, because I didn;t just update. It worked fine after my last update and up until the present. I'm not sure but it could have started happening after I plugged in my iPod Touch 16gb 2.0. I did that sometime this morning.
I did a complete uninstall/reinstall of both Itunes and Quicktime, and I also uninstalled Flip to Mac as I read here it could be related. Restarted my computer many times. Now, same problem, iTunes won't start.
I live in noisy Barcelona and i'm going crazy without tunes...

Update... so i backed up files from three folders shown below:
    'User'/AppData/Roaming/Apple Computer/
    'User'/AppData/Local/Apple Computer/
'User'/Music/iTunes/(all files except music and app folders)
Then I uninstalled iTunes & Quicktime
    Restarted Machine
Reinstalled iTunes (which reinstalls Quicktime as well)
Opend iTunes to make sure it worked (it did), then closed it.
Copied all of the original files back over to their original locations.
    Restarted iTunes
Everything appears to be back to normal (iPhone sync works properly as well)
Hope this helps for anyone else seeking an answer!

My ios update keeps getting stuck on the Restoring iPhone software stage. I uninstalled iTunes and reinstalled it again, but still nothing. Now I can't even use my phone as it shows the plug into iTunes screen. Please help!!!! Thanks,

A Restore first downloads a new copy of iOS to your computer. On a slow Internet connection this can take a long time. How fast is your connection? How long would you expect it to take to download 900 MB?
That's assuming nothing is interfering with the download. Some firewalls and antivirus programs will block the download or slow it down. So you should temporarily disable your security software. Security software can also block the update after the iOS download is complete.

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (Later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
    Apple Mobile Device Support
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or by right-clicking the downloaded installer and selectingRun as Administrator.

my ipod is not recognized by my itunes and tells me to uninstall itunes and reinstall it.  will this erase all of my music?

    Hi braddyloopy,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
If you need to uninstall and reinstall iTunes,  your music files should not be erased or affected in any way. It is always a good idea to back up your data before making any changes to your computer, though.
If you'd like to locate your music, this article explains how to find the files:
Where are my iTunes files located?

When you reinstall iTunes, I'd recommend using the method in this article to make sure it's reinstalled completely:

At my PC startup, I get an error message "AppleSyncNotifier.exe--Entry Point Not Found"  My iPhone now doesn't show up as a Device in either iTunes or My Computer on my PC. I've uninstalled/ reinstalled iTunes & run diagnostics-no luck. Ideas?

I think my problem is fixed now.
For the fun of it, I reinstalled iTunes 9.2.1 today (using the exact same installer as I did yesterday), but this time I didn't uninstall iTunes first. As expected, iTunes recognized my iPhone (as I expected it to, until my next reboot).
A few minutes later, Software Update showed up and among the updates is "iPhone SDK Compatibility Update". The description indicates that installing this should fix an issue where iPhones and iPod touches aren't recognized by iTunes. Isn't that interesting?
I installed that update and most of the others waiting for me (including Java, Safari 5.0.1, and a few others - not 10.6.4 though, due to the issues with nVidia graphics cards). After the reboot, I started iTunes, and it saw my iPhone!
So, if you're having this same problem, I'd recommend tracking down this update and see if that does the trick for you. Hopefully it will.
