ITune updates on my XP always call for AOL?

When I update my iTunes, the software for Aol always comes up. I do not have AOl and my computer settings on my computer say never dial up. Even when my web browser is open already, iTunes calls for AOL. It is maddening. Is there a setting in iTunes that I need to switch off?

When I update my iTunes, the software for Aol always
comes up. I do not have AOl...
If you do not have AOL, then how does the AOL software come up?
Why not remove the AOL software entirely? Just dump it. It's bad for you. It's bad for your computer. It's just bad.

  • Had to have my hard drive "cleaned."  Now everything I try and do is a mess.  All my data on my iPhone was deleted.  I'm trying to figure out how to find it.  I can't update my apps.  Always asks for my PW, but tells me it's wrong....HELP!

I recently had to have my computer hard drive "cleaned."  While this was going on, I broke my SG3, and now own an SG4.
I also changed servers for the internet.  When I tried to plug in my SG4, after not being on iTunes for some time, all my data was erased.
No every time I try and do ANYTHING, it asks for my PW.....which is ALWAYS WRONG.....though I've reset it over and over and over.
I want my data back (contacts, pics, etc.).  But I can't even maneuver around iTunes any more.
How in the **** do I get someone from iTunes to give me assisstance for the myriad of problems for which I am encountering.  This is a CLUSTERF.....
    HELP!

There is no such thing as an "SG3" or "SG4".  Did you possibly mean a 3GS and iPhone4?
It has always been very basic to ensure that a backup exists of your media and other important files.  Computers fail, hard drives crashes... things happen.  Do you not have a backup?  The iPhone, like all iDevices is NOT a backup of your media, but rather a mirror of the content in the iTunes library on your computer.
If your contacts, pics, etc are not on your computer, no backups of the iPhone exist, and they are not on the phone, they are gone.
No one can magically make them re-appear.

  • Backing file init method always called for proxy portlets

    Hello,
We are currently using Weblogic Portal 10 MP1. Deployed within our Portal EAR is a local proxy portlet and attached to this proxy portlet is a backing file, which currently implements the init() and prerender() methods from the backing interface.
When this is placed in a page that is within a desktop, the init() method is always invoked no matter which page you access within the desktop. As I understand it from the documentation, if you have "tree optimization" turned on, then the init() method will only be called when rendering the actual page the proxy portlet is in. But this doesn't seem to be the case. However, if I define a standard Java portlet within the EAR and attach a backing file, then the init() follows the rules when tree optimization is turned on or off.
Does anyone know if this is a defect within the portal framework, or is this expected and proxy portlets do not follow this rule?
And I guess, if it is a defect or known limitation, is there a possible workaround? I assume the simplest workaround will be to move the logic into the prerender() method.
    Regards,
    Jonathan

    Hello Jonathan,
Tree optimization is a tricky thing- some portlets may still be initialized even when the page they are on isn't visible. The rules for which get initialized and which don't are very complicated and depend on a number of things, so it is just best to not rely on the init() method not getting called.
By far the best option for your use-case is to have the proxy portlet listen to the "onRefresh" event, and move the logic from the backing file's init() method into an event-handling method in the backing file, then have this method called when the refresh event is received. Here's a sample portion of the .portlet file for doing this:
    <netuix:handlePortalEvent event="onRefresh" eventLabel="onRefreshEvent">
        <netuix:invokeBackingFileMethod method="handleRefreshEvent"/>
</netuix:handlePortalEvent>The "onRefresh" event is sent to the portlet only when it is visible on the page, so it should work perfectly for your use-case.

  • I have two small charges on my credit card from the itunes store. I tried to call for answers as to what they were for. A recording told me to go to this website and i still can not find the items charged anywhere.

I have two small charges on my credit card from iTunes store and I would like to find out what they are. The number listed is a recording and tells me to come to the website for answers. There is no sign of any purcases in my itunes store. Where can I get a person to talk to from I tunes? Has any one had this happen to them?

    Look at you purchase history.
Open itunes, click on your name in the top right corner and go to your account and look.
BTW, there is no telephone support for itunes at all.

  • New IPod Touch will not sync with Itunes-updated to iOS 7.1.1 for new IPod

Just purchased new IPod Touch (purchased 6-3-14 - had a Classic until it fried). After setting it up, I tried to sync to ITunes and it says it syncs but does nothing. No music transferred to IPod. I have a MacBook Pro running OS X 10.6.8 if that means anything. This is very frustrating as I am not a computer whiz and really want to use my IPod in my really long commutes to work. Thanks for any insight...

    Hi abbeyesque,
    Welcome to Apple Support Communities!
It sounds like your iPod touch is recognized and syncing, but it isn't transferring the content that you expect to be transferred. Take a look at the article linked below, it will show you how to select the iPhone in iTunes and where the tabs are (second picture) that control what is synced to the iPod.
iOS: Syncing your data with iTunes
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1386
    Sync using USB
    Open iTunes.
Connect the iOS device to your computer using the included USB cable.
Click the Device button in the upper-right corner. (If viewing the iTunes Store, click the Library button first.) If you don't see your device, you may need to hide the sidebar. Choose View > Hide Sidebar.
Some tabs may not appear if you don't have the corresponding content in your library. For example, if you don't have any podcasts in your library, the Podcast tab won't appear.
Click Apply, in the lower-right corner of the screen, to sync.

  • After installing Firefox I was prompted to update Adobe, but the instructions call for me to accomplish things by using tabs which aren't present.

Firefox said that the Adobe instructions are outdated, but I still cannot locate the tab which I am told to use.

    Let's assume you start here:
    http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/
Then uncheck the McAfee box and click Agree and Install Now.
Do you get a yellow infobar, just below the location bar, that requires you to approve the installation? If you allow that, you get an add-on from Adobe, which is an installer that then grabs the Flash player.
    Does that make sense?
Edit: This is a direct download link I found some time back. Because you should always be very, very suspicious of direct links to EXE files on the web, make sure to scan any download before running it. In other words, do not choose OPEN, only SAVE, and then check it for safety.

  • When I try to install Itunes updates, an error code always comes up; HRESULT: 0x800736FD. What do I do to resolve this? Thanks.

I have tried un-installing and re-installing, but it hasn't worked.
The error code is coming up as HRESULT: 0x800736FD.

That's a less common one (in this context).
Perhaps try the following Microsoft document:
    Windows Update error 80246005
Does that get your Windows Updates installing again? If so, stock up on the ones you're behind on (restarting the PC if requested to do so). You might have to do this in more than one batch (depending on when the 80246005 started happening and how far you're behind).
Once you're up to date, try the iTunes install again. Does it go through properly this time?

  • Setter is not always called for a h:inputText

Sometimes the entered value is mapped to its corresponding field in the bean (value="#{mybean.someproperty}") and sometime it negelects the user data and keep the value is "" ? even if the user entered data to that text box ?
There is no validation for that component.

  • Constant "Problem with Shortcut" Every Time iTunes updates

Sorry to vent, but this really bugs me.
Ok, this can't be hard to fix and isn't hard for ME to fix when I update iTunes, but this is REALLY, REALLY, REALLY annoying.
Here's the issue. Every time iTunes updates itself, it invalidates every Shortcut for the executable. I get "Problem with Shortcut" Windows Window and which says "This action is only valid for products that are currently installed."
This happens EVERYTIME iTunes updates itself, which seems very often.
It is really, really annoying. And it ONLY happens with iTunes (no other software - for example Firefox doesn't do this), which says to me that Apple can't be bothered to make sure that the path to their new executable is the same as the old when they do the update. Actually, now that I look at it, it looks like it is somehow deleting the path in the existing shortcuts when it updates, which sounds like a bug.
Any decent usability testing would find this and quickly fix this, but this happens on EVERY windows computer I have EVERY time iTunes updates itself, and it has been there for at least the last 5 upgrades, so I know it is not a 1 off thing only I am seeing.
Please, please, please fix this in your next patch.
    Thanks.

Add me to the list of the angry. Safari on Windows does this too.
Apple apps are the only ones I've ever seen on Windows to do this. I don't even understand how/why it happens - does it take the time to find all the shortcuts (which are separate files it would have to search your HD for) and deliberately break their paths?! If Apple are going to make windows applications, it'd be nice if they swallowed their pride and learnt the windows platform and its norms. 99.999% of other software vendors have figured out how to make shortcuts that work...
The worst thing about this is that the error message (admittedly, I think it's a windows message) gives the impression you have to reinstall iTunes! A quick Google search shows that a fair few people think that's the solution.
*If you're getting this problem: there's no need to uninstall or reinstall iTunes!* the problem is with the shortcut only, not the program. To fix it, find a working shortcut to iTunes (as mentioned above, there's normally a fresh one in your start menu somewhere) and drag it wherever you need it, then delete the old one. If you can't find a working one, browse to "program files"->"itunes" on your hard drive, select itunes.exe, go to File->Create Shortcut. A new shortcut will be made in that folder, that you can put wherever you like.

    Morning AppleHlumamkhululi,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
In most cases, the connected iPod needs to be restored.
For more information on this, take a look at this article:

Do as the picture suggests. Connect your iPad to iTunes using the supplied USB cable.

  • I was using a different itune id and now a new one but when i want to update the old app its always asking for my old app id. Is there a way to change my old app to my new id so that i dont have to use my old id.

I was using a different itune id and now a new one but when i want to update the old app its always asking for my old app id.
Is there a way to change my old app to my new id so that i dont have to use my old id?

There is no other way you can do now. Actually, you don't need to create a new Apple ID account, you can change the Apple ID from old email account to other email accout easily by all the steps below.
1, Open iTunes > iTunes Store > log in old Apple ID > Click on your apple ID on the right hand side on top > choose account > Apple ID > Edit
As long as you only change your Apple ID, then all the old apps are still under your new email account as well as you can keep downloading new apps.

  • HT1926 I installed the itunes update on my regular PC. The update failed and produced an error in MSVCR80.DLL I spoke to an apple tech about it. He blames Microsoft for the error. I did the same update on another PC and it produced the same error. Itunes

The iTunes update is causing a problem on PC's resulting in an error pointing to MSVRC80.DLL. I called Apple Support they blame Microsoft.....(What a surprise!).
I did a second update on another pc and it produced the same problem with the same DLL file. Apple still says it's not their problem. Unfortunately until they acknowledge the problem and correct it iTunes is no longer functional. That's too bad but Windows Media Player works fine.
Apple, own up to the problems you create. Don't pull an Obama!
When enough people have the problem it will force Apple to correct it. Everyone on a PC using iTunes who try the update will have this problem.

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.
    Please note:
Some users may need to follow all the steps in whichever of the following support documents applies to their system. These include some additional manual file and folder deletions not mentioned above.

You an use your iPhone without connecting it to a computer.
But the product description for the iPhone clearly states that in order to sync with a Mac you must have OSX 10.6.8 or later. That version of the OSX is usually called Snow Leopard. There are two mo recent versions of OSX. OSX 10.7.x (Lion) and OSX 10.8.x (Mountain Lion).
If you can upgrade your computer to at least Snow Leopard I suggest you do so.
