ITune with iCloud

I recently started using iCloud with my iTunes and I've noticed some of my songs are missing that I've had for years?

One of my friend told me than we can read our iMess and text mess on iCloud?? Is it possible?? Because I think my exgirl friend reads my mess...big problem!!

I run both Mac and a PC and have iTunes on both, which has previously recognised my iPhone. I had updated my Mac with the new iTunes software with iCloud and updated my iPad2 just yesterday. I then wanted to do the same with my iPhone today, but my Mac wouldn't recognise the device so I tried it on my PC, which recognised the phone but told me I needed to update my iTunes and this in turn wanted to update my iPhone software. After completing all this and restarting, my iPhone now shows the iTunes icon with the USB plug pointing towards it, obviously wanting me to plug it in to my computer to re-connect with iTunes, but now neither of my computers recognise my iPhone and my PC states an 'Unknown Device'. My Mac doesn't even see it. Can anyone help as I really need to get my phone working?? Thanks

Hold down the Home and Power button for 20 seconds. And try to update again.

how do I find the file and replace it or install it?

I'll reload it tonight when I get home...basically, I bought a new iPhone and downloaded some new medical apps. also had to download an update for iTunes into my mac laptop so I could access iCloud (which was NOT on my prior iTunes software)
When I synched my new iPhone with the newly downloaded iTunes, I registered my iphone and tried to "back it up" to iCloud and the message indicating that "the required file was not found or has a permissions error...." popped up.
How do I correct the permissions error, or...am I able to do this somewhere? Or...how do I find the file that is missing?

I have windows 7, did a factory restore now new itunes with icloud will not play movies i have download before update

I have windows 7, I just had to do a factory restore. I have a click free for a backup for my computer so when i went to restore my couputer all my music and movies are there but when my power went out ,I want to watch a movie in the new Itunes none of my movies would play. It looks like i had to download them again with icloud and why sose some songs and videos have the icloud on them in the upper right corner if i don't have to download them again?

Some songs are grayed out in Itunes with ICloud/Download symbol, why and how do I fix it?

A random variety of my songs are grayed out so they won't play and it shows the ICloud download symbol next to them. In the top left hand corner, it shows the cloud symbol with horizontal lines moving, as if it's in the process of downloading, but it has been on all day and there is no movement to shift the grayed out songs to functioning songs as if they have been downloaded.
Does anyone have any suggestions??

Delete the incomplete tracks from your library, sending them to recycle bin, then download them again from your purchased history. If the problem persists use the "report a problem" links from your account history to contact the iTunes store support staff.
Are the incomplete tracks ones that you had previewed before purchasing the album? If so there may be a bug that needs reporting. See this recent post which explains why I ask the question...

Can I still manually sync contacts / cal in iTunes with iCloud on?

My wife likes to sync her iPhone contacts and calendar manually with Outlook / iTunes. Despite my suggestion that she convert to Goggle contacts or another wireless sync option, this is how she is comfortable doing it so she wants to leave it as is. Well I just got her an iPad and want both devices to have the same contact and calendar data? So I decided to turn iCloud Contact and Calendar syncing on (I started with just Contacts) through the iPhone settings.
Her contacts now appear on both devices (iPhone and iPad) but I was confused as to what happens to the way she traditionally syncs. For example I added a test contact in Outlook and then manually synced the iPhone w/ iTunes. That new contact appeared on her iPhone but now there are two Contact Groups on her phone - "iCloud" and "From My Computer". From My Computer has just the one test contact I added while iCloud has all the rest (which were originally all fomr my PC). And the new test contact was never synced to the iPad. So it appears that by turning Contacts on in iCloud, it essentially converted her "From my Computer" contacts over to iCloud.
Have to say I'm a little confused. I was hoping that we could keep the legacy relationship where my wife manually syncs her iPhone with Outlook / iTunes and then through iCloud have it backup whatever she pulls over from her Computer to the Cloud and then send it to all her devices (iPad in this case).
Any ideas for how I can acomplish this?

I solved my problem eventually by getting all the devices - 2 iphones, the newish pc and the older Mac on icloud.
All media, calenders and messages were lost from the iphones, except for purchased itunes that I paid another $30 to Apple to save for me and also paid Appple some more to use icloud but the good news is I did save my contacts
I opened all of my contacts and pretty much had to edit and drag them over almost individually as they weren't all in some sort of configuration that Apple liked - i.e. if an email address ended in ch or es or de it might not be accepted as a properly configured vcard.
It would be nice if Apple made it a litle easier when you have older devices and need to get them in sync with newer ones.

How do you synch things that weren't purchased on iTunes with iCloud?

For example stuff gotten from cd or vinyl or music ive made on garageband etc

usually that symbol meants that the computer can no longer find the original files for those songs, try importing those songs to itunes again but first add them to a folder on your computer, thrn from the folder add them itunes

If you are using iTunes Match, your music should already be in your iTunes library. If you aren't, you can transfer music purchased from the iTunes store from your iPod to your iTunes library by first authorizing your computer for all Apple IDs used to purchase the music in Store>Authorize This Computer, then connecting the iPod to your computer and in iTunes going to File>Devices>Transfer Purchases.
If you no longer have the old iPod, you'll have to redownload your previoulsy purchased music from the iTunes store, as explained here: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2519.

With icloud, why would you need an iphone larger than 16Gb

I am finally getting ready to get rid of my old broken down Droid. I am an apple user, but missed the iphone release with Verizon by about 1 month. Now that my contract is almost up, ready to switch over. My question is, if I have access to icloud on the phone, do I need any larger amount of memory that the 16Gb? Someone I work with was telling me that they sync photos and itunes with icloud and keep them off of their iphone to use up less memory? The only drawback I see there is you have to have wifi or data connection to access your stuff. Is there something else I'm missing? What's the benefit of going with the 32 vs 16 if I can store my data on icloud...besides what I mentioned.

Typically after registering with apple, you will get an email asking you to confirm or verify your email address by clicking on a link. If you didn't get this, check your spam folder to see if the message is there. If that doesn't help you can try opening a ticket with apple.

Location services are a part of your iOS device (or Mac). You don't "turn on" location services with iCloud. You can visit http://www.icloud.com and use Find My iPhone to see the location of the device if you want (assuming you have enabled this from the iPhone first).

Somehow my entire itunes library got deleted ... I have the old ipod nano, which does not connect with iCloud so it has all been saved there, BUT .. I cannot load all my music that I put on and I no longer have the cd's PLEASE HELP!!!!

You can't merge accounts. Just continue to use your Yahoo ID for iTunes, and your iCloud ID for everything else.
