ITunes 10.1 upgrade no longer recognizes iPhone 4

I've just upgraded my iTunes to 10.1, however it no longer recognizes my iPhone 4.
I've restarted both computer and iPhone with no luck. I've also tried multiple USB ports, still no change. iPhone is running OS 4.1
Anyone else experiencing this issue?

try to change usb-port. probably you have a problem with one.

  • Itunes 11.1.4 doesn't recognize iphone

i am running Windows 8 (ugh) and can't get itunes 11.1.4 to see my iphone 4, IOS 7.0.4.  This has just recently started (my last backup thru itunes was 1/9/14.)  Also, the pc sees the phone as it appears in the devices & drivers section of my directory.  I can move pictures from my iphone, too.
When I plug the usb cord into my computer, i now get a message on my iphone about whether or not to trust this computer.  I say yes & then I can see it in the directorys.  This is new - it didn't use to do this.
I have repaired itunes from the control panel & have double checked the settings for Apple Mobile Device as per the discussion http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1538
    Any suggestions would be appreciated

Well, I figured it out myself. I read the comments/notices that the USB 2.0 has to be in working condition to use it, and I switched cables around, but ended up with them in the same place. I know they work; I've used them before. I have a charging case that uses a micro USB cable to charge, which USED TO be able to connect my iPhone 5 to the Mac. Since the iOS 7 upgrade, the Mac doesn't see it. I de-cased the phone, used the lightning cable and the Mac saw the device.

  • ITunes 11.1.4 will not recognize iPhone, iPad after Dell BIOS update

I suspect the problems everyone is having are related to the BIOS.  I am running a Dell XPS i7-3770 CPU @ 3.40 GHz 3.4 GHz with 24 GB RAM, 64 bit OS x64 based processor.  OS is Windows 8.1
I just updated my BIOS as suggested by Dell.  Now iTunes 11.1.4 will not recognize my iPhone or iPad.
My computer accesses the iPhone or iPad, but iTunes does not recognize them.
This was not a problem prior to updating BIOS.
Is there a fix or patch?
I have to sync my devices for work.
Please no baby-steps replies.  Have tried everything including removing devices from device manager and reconnecting to force driver update and try to force iTunes recognition.  None of that works.
    Thanks!

Here is the fix from Waldo-E3 elsewhere in this forum.
Like I said, no baby steps answers please!
    Kudos to Waldo-E3!
      RESOLVED...
Found these steps posted elsewhere by another and the solution worked for me...
    1. Go to Windows 8.1 Control Panel.
    2. Go to Hardware and Sound; Devices and Printers; Unspecified (look for Apple Mobile Device USB Driver)
    3. Right-click, then select properties on the menu list.
    4. Select the "Hardware" tab at the top  When the properties dialog box opens, once more select properties on the lower right hand button.
    5. Under the "Driver" tab menu, the update driver button will be grey and unselectable here. So you need to select and click "Change Settings" button located near the lower left corner.
    6. Now you can click the "Driver" tab menu near the top, so you can see the "Update Driver" button.
    7. Select "Update Driver".
    8. Select and click "Browse my computer for driver software".
    9. For Windows 8.1 64 bit, it should be located in the folder: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers.
    10. Click Next, and let the driver re-install.
    11. iTunes  11.1.4.62 should open automatically if your iphone is connected already

  • Itunes no longer recognizes iphone

    Hi everyone,
I'm having a big problem synching my iphone 5 with iTunes 11.1.4.62 on my Windows 8.1 laptop. It started two days ago when I tried to add a couple albums to my phone (via cable) and noticed that it was synching about 5 times slower than usual. I figured that it must be synching over wifi instead of the cable and noticed that under the "summary" tab, "sync this iphone over wifi" box was checked. I unchecked that box to switch back to the cable, figuring that I must have checked it by accident. A second after unchecking that box, the entire iphone interface disappeared including the "iPhone" button in the top right corner. From that point, iTtunes on my laptop won't recognize my phone any more, period. I rebooted both devices multiple times, re-installed itunes, deleted and installed itunes all over, etc.  At the Genius bar they told me that my phone works perfectly and it's a software issue. Other than this, iTunes works and plays music fine. It's super inconvenient though, and at this point I'm thinking of doing a full system restore to wipe out all traces and re-install itunes again. Thought I'll ask if I should try anything else first. Any ideas?

Welp, I fixed it without any drastic measures!
    here's what to do:
    1. Open the device manager (found on the control panel)
    2. Clisk on "portable devices" (about 2/3 down the list)
    3. Right-click "Apple iPhone" and click "update driver software"
    4. When prompted, browse for the driver folder, which should be found under C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers
    5. Restart itunes

  • PC (XP) no longer recognizes iphone since upgrade to 2.0 failed

I updated my computer to 7.7 itunes and was updated my old iphone to 2.0. Got an error message that restore failed. Now my computer doesn't recognize the iphone, the iphone screen is stuck on the picture that indicates it's connected to itunes. HELP!

Mine did the exact same thing. I ended up going to the local Apple store and had them install 2.0. As far as your computer, it may have messed up your usb drivers, as it did on my computer. I ended up having to format my HD, and reinstall from OEM. Sounds like this may be your only option also.
I verified my computer problem by plugging my ipod into the computer while itunes is open. When I did this, my screen would freeze, and would have to alt, ctrl, del to close itunes. If you have an ipod, I suggest you try the same, and see if your's freezes also.

  • Help.  New iPhone 4. Can't find it on my Itunes. The sidebar no longer recognizes my devices?  What am I doing wrong? I am still a new MAC user....

WHere is my device located on my Itunes?  I have a new device, it is recognized but I can't take music or movies and move them to the device because I can't "see" it??

Top right hand corner. Should be a button that says "Blarebees's iPhone" or whatever your phone is called.
Click that button. Then you can browse your phone an sync all your stuff.
If it doesn't show anything about an iPhone, then thats a bit weird. Phone a friend.

  • My itunes software (current) will no longer recognize my iPhone 5 or 5c.

When I connect my iPhone to the computer with iTunes open I receive the following message"iTunes could not connect to the iPhone "John Phone" because an invalid response was received from the device'  I receive the same message from both the iPhone 5 and 5c. Where might my problem be?  In the phones or iTunes software?

  • ITunes 11.1.5.5 with Windows 8: no longer recognizes iphone 5, itouch 5, ipod nano gen 6 and ipod nano gen 7

Tried the troubleshooting guide, though it was for windows 7 and earlier operating systems; is there a trouble shooting guide for windows 8 I am missing?
finally uninstalled and reinstalled itunes on my computer but still, no devices are recognized.
Given all the posts I see, is this a known bug at this point in this version of iTunes and will there be another version coming out to address this?

    someone wrote:
Issues with the drivers installed by Apple Mobile Device Support can also ramify through to the nanos. (Even though they're not iOS de

So, just in case (if you haven't done so already), try the procedure in Cerbu's post:

... or try section 5 from the following document:

  • ITunes crashed and will no longer recognize my iPod Touch!

My new computer crashed last night while my iPod Touch was in the process of Syncing with my iTunes account.  When it came back up it had to try and recover my iTunes Library. After it did I had to go into my stuff and find all my music and re-add it to my iTunes Library.  That wasn't too much of a problem, I've got back all of my songs, but my apps are all gone and when I try to Sync my iPod Touch with my iTunes Library it gives me a message saying that my iPod Touch is Synced with another iTunes Library and can only be Synced with one at a time so I need to erase my iPod's memory and reload everything from my computer.  The problem is that since it doesn't have any of my apps on there it would completely erase all of my apps and any data I have on them.  So what I want to find out is how I can get it to recognize my iPod Touch again, or if there is a way I can save all of my app data from my iPod Touch and then reset my iPod Touch so that it will recognize it again and then just Sync it again to get all my app data back that would be great too.  I just don't want to lose anything.  I have seen several similar issues but nothing that really seemed to be the right fix for my particular issue so any help will be greatly apprediated!
    Thanks,
    L.M.

    - Transfer itunes purchases to the computer by:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to a computer
    - You can also redownload them by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
    - When they are in your iTunes library, connect the iPod to the computer and make a backup by right clicking on the iPod under Devices in iTunes and select Back Up
    - Restore the iPod from that backup.

  • Windows 7: computer no longer recognizes iPhone USB for Hotspot

Yesterday (and every day before) I plugged in my iPhone 5 (latest updates in terms of iOS) to my Windows 7 PC and used the USB hotspot capability. Today I plug it into my computer, turn on the hotspot, and my computer does not recognize the USB hotspot. No updates to iTunes, or Windows - yesterday it worked, this morning it does not.
Other data: the phone is charging via the USB connection. iTunes sees the phone via the USB connection. And I can connect to the computer via the wireless hotspot, so the hotspot itself is functional. I just can't get my computer to recognize the USB hotspot.
Tried repairing a file someone recommended in the Program Data/Apple folder (can't remember the name) and that didn't work. Obviously lots of reboots for both devices. Resest the network settings.
    Help!
    Thanks/
