ITunes 10.4.1.10 is moving my songs as I play them.

It is set to "keep iTunes media folder organised".
My media folder is D:\, and iTunes has created folders d:\music; d:\podcasts; etc. yet is moving songs to new folders d:\'artist'\'album' as they are played.
Periodically I "Consolidate files" and "Re-organise files in the folder d:\" to fix a sprawling media folder, but should I need to keep doing this? I have not experienced this with itunes 7, 8 or 9
Can I resolve this problem?

The problem with simply "unchecking the Keep iTunes organized" solution is thatI do like iTunes organizing my music. It keeps my music folder clean and so forth. The problem I'm having seems to be a sort of glitch, since it's only naming songs after songs I already have, and it's never correct. It'd be one thing for it to capitalize a few letters or correct spelling, maybe add a track number, but this is something else altogether

I recently got an iphone 5S and my songs not purchased from iTunes are grayed out (phone only) and are skipped past when playing them through my iPhone. i have tried the following:
1) Removing all music from phone and resynced to iTunes PC library.
2) Erased phone and restored from back up
3) Erased phone and started as a new iPhone
4) Reformated the music files in my library that weren't playing
5) Deleted songs from iPhone and computer and re-imported CDs
6) Tried to redownload my COMPLETE MUSIC LIBRARY from iCloud.
7) I have also turned it off and turned it back on several times
8) I tried syncing through my macbook (only moved partial songs to it to see if it would even work).
9) I have tried to get Siri to play them, did not work.
10) All music does play fine on my iPod Touch 3rd (iOS6 i think) gen and iTunes on Mac and PC
11) I added a CD to my roommates iTunes and it plays on their iPhone 5S but not mine.
After all of these things it is now WORSE!!! My iTunes purchased songs are now experiencing the same issue along with some (not all) of the original music files that were skipping and grayed out. My conclusion is i have no clue at this point! I have done everything i have found online in EVERY discussion, i have spent over 60 hours trying to get this to work and i am asking myself, i bought this product why am having to fix this when it worked just fine on my iPod touch (3rd Gen) and iPod Classic!!!! PLEASE APPLE FIX THIS ISSUE FOR US!!!!

I had this problem too after i upgdatd to OS X Mavericks... only the songs on my iphone 5s that i purchased from itunes would play.
i read something about it being a syncing issue. when you plug your phone into your computer with the usb cable, the person said to switch from automatic syncing of itunes to the "manual" option. mine was already set to manual so i wasn't sure anything would work. BUT, when i plugged my phone into my computer, it started to sync all of my music on my phone again (top of itunes bar where song playing/time is listed said "now syncing 123/534 songs to x's iphone"). once that was completed, i checked the music app on my iphone and everything was back to normal!
so, i would suggest setting your music syncing settings to manual if you haven't tried that yet!

Because the file are no longer where they were when they were imported into your computer and added to your iTunes Library.
Did you move, rename or delete the files after adding them to your iTunes Library?
Do you use any other programmes, which may have moved, renamed or deleted the files, for example, Windows Media Player?
Were the files added to your computer's hard drive, or to an external drive which is no longer connected, or has a different drive letter now?

I downloaded an album on my iTunes on my Mac but some of the songs won't play all the way through. It is almost as if it didn't download the entire songs. How can I fix this?

I downloaded the Mumfor & Sons album in my iTunes store. All the songs are there but in a handful of the songs, they cut off at the end of them. It is almost as if the last 30 seconds or so were never downloaded. I tried to check for things that were not downloaded yet and it says that everything is downloaded. I have no idea howt o get the rest of the songs to play.

If just some of the tracks on the album are doing that, that suggests those tracks are damaged.
If your country's iTunes Store allows you to redownload purchased tracks, I'd delete your current copies of the dodgy tracks and try redownloading fresh copies. For instructions, see the following document:

ITunes won't recognize some of my tracks, it won't play them nor will it add them to my library

When I try to drag n drop it 'processes' them but dosnt add them, they are mp3 audio files so there's now reason why it shouldn't... Using latest version of iTunes. I have opened the files with other programmes and the files play without a problem! What's going on?!

OK, the first reply actually wound up working afterall. I don't know what I was doing wrong the first time I tried. I think it was because I was double clicking and all I apparently needed to do was click once. Thanks to all who replied!

Downloaded a song on my Iphone. Song also downloaded to itunes when I opened it. However, the song won't play on either Mac or my Ipod though it shows up in Library. Plays on phone just fine!

I downloaded the single Skyfall on my iphone. When I opened Itunes on my Mac the song downloaded with no problem (so I thought). I loaded the song onto my Shuffle and it froze when I went to play that song. I knew the order of my library and every single time I tried to play Skyfall my Shuffle would stop playing anything until I turned it off and then back on. I plugged it into my laptop, opened Itunes and deleted it off. My Library shows Skyfall under Adele as artist but it will not play the song! I just downloaded 2 other songs this week and have had no problems playing on my laptop and being loaded onto my Ipod. This laptop is authorized to play my downloads. The song plays just fine on my phone, but I really want it on my Shuffle because that is my running buddy.

For years i download off a website audiobooks and magazines in aac format from a website. I name and save the file and then when it downloads i open it and it automatically would open in itunes and then remain in itunes. I could then sync it to my ipod, iphone. Simple, easy. All of a sudden after downloading the last recent itunes software update. 10.3 i think. everything stopped working. i download a new files and i can't open them in itunes. i cant drag it, i cant directly import the file. i cant even open the file using right click open with. itunes. I can open the file in windows media player so i know the file is good. I figured something might have been up with that version of itunes so i wanted for a new update, hoping that it would fix it itself. Didn't work. So i have the most current version of itunes. All the files i want in itunes are saved and neatly organized. i wonder if it's possible to just scrap everything and drag everything into a fresh downloaded version of itunes.

Why can't i play films i've bought on iTunes on my pad connected to my home projector (I can play them without the projector)?

I just upgraded to Vista. Many of my purchased songs work fine. But when I try to play some songs, iTunes asks to authorize it. I do this. It says the authorization was succesful. But when I try to do this again, it goes back to the authorization screen!

Authorize your purchases from an administrator account
Authorize using the correct account name
Turn Off User Account Controls (Windows Vista and Windows 7 Only)
