Itunes 10.4.1 does not install on Lion

Hi
Has anyone figued out why the itunes 10.4.1 update will not install on Lion?
thanks
Mike

I had a similar problem. My iTunes didn't start automatically when I connected any of my devices after the upgrade to iTunes 10.4.1.
I found I had to add the iTunesHelper.app in System Preferences->Users & Groups under my account on the Login Items tab.
You have to navigate to it in finder, because I couldn't seem to do "Show Package Contents" on iTunes.app in the Applications folder from the file dialog you get when you hit '+'.
Once you have opened the package contents of the iTunes.app then the iTunesHelper.app is in Contents/MacOS. I just dragged and dropped into the Login Items window, then ticked it to start on login.
Note, this will only start it when you log in, to start it immediately just double click iTunesHelper.app in finder.

The current iTunes 10.5 upgrade does not install on Windows 7 and indicates a faulty install package (error 2324). Advice or details on the release date for a proper fix? I'm not able to roll back to the prior version, so I'm stuck in limbo.

There have been a number of problems with installing the latest iTunes on Windows 7 64-bit machines during the last couple of weeks.  You might want to do a search on that topic and see if anyone has a solution.  There have been various versions of the problem but a lot related to errors in the download package or failure to download.

  • ITunes 11.04  software does not install why?

I try to download iTunes software update 11.04, it installs till 0.14 mb then gives me a message like this ''iTunes'' has invalid signature. It will not be installed , why does this happen and how do i sort this out? please help

Okay, I think I answered my own question. I download the iTunes pkg from the web site. When I installed it, I saw that the itunes phone updater was included. I didn't install that via Software Update since I had things open and didn't want to restart my notebook.
    The installation went as advertised.

  • ITunes 7.0.1 does not install--Windows Installer Package Problem

I am trying to upgrade from iTunes 6 to the newest version. I downloaded setup and ran it, and it got a bit through installing iTunes before it said, "There is a problem with the Windows Installer Package. A program required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package vendor."
I have never had problems installing other programs using Windows Installer. I also never had problems upgrading iTunes until now. There is no info on this specific issue anywhere in the Apple website or on the internet, that I have found. Any ideas?

okay, let's try getting an itunes 7 installer log to the Apple engineers for a look.
    1. Open a command prompt window. (Start menu -> Run. Type in "cmd". Hit return.)
    2. Drag and drop iTunesSetup.exe onto the window so that the full pathname of the file is at the command line prompt.
    3. Type in a space, then the following line:
    /l*v C:\log.txt
    4. Hit return.
    5. The installer will create a log file:
    C:\log.txt
Find that file and send it as an attachment to this email address.
in the email to Roy, be sure to include the following information:
    - A link to the thread on Apple Discussions where the issue is being discussed
    - The username you are using in the thread
    - The version of iTunes you are using or trying to use
    - the version of Windows you are using (mention service packs)
    - A concise description of the issue you are seeing
    - The exact text of the error message you are seeing

  • Elements 10 dmg file does not install on lion

I bought Elements 10 as a download for Mac Lion 10.7.2 and it doesn't install properly. I started the install as admininstrator, via Akamai downloader, provided the serial number then it spent four hours 'checking the system'. I rebooted to terminate the 'hung' install application and now double clicking the dmg file simply lists the contents.
I already have LR3, saw no discusssions suggesting issues with Elements 10 so I expected that Elements would work easily, which is why I bought rather than trialed Elements 10. I have since downloaded the trial version just in case it was different but it's the same.
Mac Mini Mac OS X Server 10.7.2 (11C74)

Log in as a user with administrator access privileges - made no difference
Install the latest version of the Adobe software - all was up to date so made no difference
Install current Mac OS X updates - nothing to update
Re-create the preferences files - made no difference (with 'shift' restart between)
Ensure that your OS language setting matches the language version of your Adobe product - was IE, now US - no difference (with 'shift' restart between)
Run the application while no other applications are running - normal way so no difference
Run the Adobe application with the Login Items disabled - install hung (just like it did the first time I ran it and as reported by Reijo T)
Install the Adobe application from the desktop - standard procedure for all recent attempts & made no difference
Install or run the Adobe application from within a new user account - different behaviours noted but ultimately made no difference - if user is admin, then install hangs at 0% after requesting admin PWD - if standard user, install fails with same exit code 24 right after getting an admin UID/PWD - if repeated without log-off, install cannot start because process already running.
Update the video card driver - nothing to update
Verify that you are using the latest driver and PPD file for the printer - n/a
Remove third-party plug-ins - none for LR3, only other Adobe app.
Disable extensions using Extensions Manager - n/a
Reinstall the Adobe application - no effect
Repair disk permissions by running Disk Utility - lots of minor corrections but made no difference
Repair and defragment hard disks - OS X handles this

My deadline for this project has passed and unless there's a quick guaranteed fix, I'm going back to Win7.

Trying to install iTunes on Windows 8.1.  Apple Application Support was not found.  Error 2.  Uniinstall iTunes and try again, does not work.  Is there a fix?

Let's try a standalone Apple Application Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of the issue.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR:
    http://www.rarlab.com/
Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleApplicationSupport.msi to do a standalone AAS install.
Does it install properly for you?
If instead you get an error message during the install, let us know what it says. (Precise text, please.)

  • New version of itunes does not install

The new version of Itunes does not install on my computer. I have run all of the service steps from the knowledge base and there has been no change. I am running win 7 64 bit on an alienware m17x. can I get some help? I have my dxdiag if it will help.
The last version of itunes (what I believe to be the first 64 bit one) , the textures were not always correct but it still functioned. This new one doesn't even install and as a troubleshooting thing I unistalled itunes and quickime as well as clearing the temp files and running the instaler with no 3rd party programs on startup, so now I have no itunes. Any help you could give would be greatly appreciated.

Hmm, no response, I guess this must be too hard a problem to solve
Is this because XP is not officially supported any more??
People who have problems installing on Vista seem to get a response!!
I think that I will just keep the version of itunes that I currently have installed as, judging by the people on this forum who have problems with the new version, I am probably better off not upgrading anyway.

  • My iTunes installation via Windows 7 does not install the Apple Mobile Device Support file

I have followed several suggestions to resolve the problem caused because of my update of iTunes does not install the Apple Mobile Device Support folder, thus making it impossible for me to sync my iPhone 4S to my desktop version of iTunes. I have tried to install the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi file and it almost completes the installation before "rolling back" the entire process and giving me a message that there was a problem with the installation. Has anyone been able to solve this problem. I use Windows 7. I have seem some :"solutions" that seem to work for some people, but not for me, and evidently not for many others? Finally, would it matter if I installed Safari on my desktop and tried to install iTunes using Safari?

Let's try a standalone Apple Mobile Device Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of why it's not installing under normal conditions.
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi (or AppleMobileDeviceSupport64.msi) to do a standalone AMDS install.
(If it offers you the choice to remove or repair, choose "Remove", and if the uninstall goes through successfully, see if you can reinstall by doubleclicking the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi again.)
Does it install (or uninstall and then reinstall) properly for you? If so, can you get a normal iTunes install to go through properly now?
If instead you get an error message during the install (or uninstall), let us know what it says. (Precise text, please.)

  • After installing Mavericks iTunes 11.1.3 does not find my recent iTunes Library. Where did my current library go?

After installing Mavericks iTunes 11.1.3 does not find my recent iTunes Library. Where did my current library go? The new iTunes opens a 2009 library on start up. My most recent library is ignored even when I go to it directly and start iTunes with it. In another thread someone suggested repairing permissions, I did that and it did not help. I ripped my entire CD collection over the summer (1000's of songs) and now they just don't exist...or I can't find them. They were there before I upgraded to Mavericks the other day. Now vanished. I have found no other issues with Mavericks (yet). Played the music last week; upgraded, now can't find my complete current library. If anyone has a clue as to what might be causing this I sure would like know. Thanks to anyone who can help.

Hi, sorry to hear you had this problem. Sometimes after updating iTunes the library appears blank because a new library (.itl) file has been created. Anyone else experiencing this issue may be able to resolve by following the steps outlined in TS1967. There is ofter a 'Previous iTunes Libraries' folder in the iTunes folder, by quitting iTunes entirely and replacing the currently named iTunes Library.itl file with the library file named by date in the Previous Libraries folder (should look something like 'iTunes Library 2011-08-03') and renaming to 'iTunes library.itl' and relaunching you should find the library looks the same as it did before updating (metadata intact).

  • ITunes upgrade (10.3.1) does not install.

iTunes upgrade (10.3.1) does not install.

I tried to uninstall iTunes, but this is not working for the same reason.

It doesn't find the "iTunes.msi" file.
Unfortunately, this sort of trouble has gotten more complicated to deal with ever since Microsoft pulled the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from their Download Center on June 25. First we have to find a copy of the utility.
Let's try Googling. (Best not to use Bing, I think.) Look for a working download site for at least version 3.0 of the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. After downloading the utility installer file (msicuu2.exe), scan the file for malware, just in case. (I use the free version of Malwarebytes AntiMalware to do single-file scans for that.)
If the file is clean, to install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you've downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove".
Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try installing iTunes again. Does the install go through properly now?
(If you do find a clean download site for the correct version of CleanUp, please don't tell me where it is. Without wishing to sound paranoid (although I grant it does sound paranoid), there is a non-zero chance that posting links to download locations for the utility here at Discussions leads to that download location being shut down.)

  • ITunes 12.1.1 does NOT work with Windows - Fix??

    Hi everyone,
I had issue after issue with the latest iTunes update (12.1.1) not working on my windows 7. It simply would not lunch when clicking on the shortcut to open.
After a fair bit of searching I found this alternative version which seemed to do the trick and now it works:
    iTunes 12.1.1.4 for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) - iTunes64Setup.exe(2015-02-18)

The "for older video cards" installer - which, like most prior "64 bit" versions of iTunes, is actually a 32 bit application with a 64 bit installer - may be a useful fallback if the full 64 bit version does not install or run correctly.  Although 12.1.1.4 is a major improvement over 12.1.0.71, there are clearly still some lurking incompatibilities with some 64 bit Windows systems/components.  It is, however, a little misleading to say that "iTunes 12.1.1 does NOT work with Windows" - in many cases it works fine without switching to the alternative version.  I have the full 64-bit version of 12.1.1.4 running on three systems - two Windows 7 and one Windows 8.1 - no issues with either installation or operation on any of them.

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
The further information area has direct links to the current and recent builds in case you have problems downloading, need to revert to an older version or want to try the iTunes for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) release as a workaround for performance issues or compatibility with third party software.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.

  • ITunes 11.1.4 will not install properly - windows 8.1, 64 bit.  My only way to recover is to restore my system.  iTunes 11.1.3.8 functions properly.  When will Apply provide a workable update?

iTunes 11.1.4 will not install properly - windows 8.1, 64 bit.  The only way I have found to recover is to restore my system.  I have unistalled/reintalled iTunes two times.  No success.  iTunes 11.1.3.8 functions properly (following system restore).  When is Apply expected to provide a workable update?

Uninstall your existing copy of iTunes. Delete any copies of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe) installer files from your downloads areas for your web browsers and download a fresh copy of the iTunes installer from the Apple website:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
(The current build of the 11.1.4.62 installer was changed a few days ago, which fixed the bulk of the reports of MSVCR80.dll/R6034/APSDaemon.exe/Error-7/AMDS-could-not-start trouble ... but the build number on the installer was not changed. So we're trying to make sure you do the reinstall using a "new good" 11.1.4.62 installer instead of an "old bad".)
Does the install with the new copy of the installer go through properly? If so, does that clear up the error message?
If you still have the same error messages cropping up, then try the procedures from the following user tip:
Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates
