ITunes 10.4.1 misbehaving

iTunes 10.4.1 misbehaving. Won't update playlists with correct dates for last played, etc. Lost all correct dates for when songs were added. Also can't edit smart playlists, causes iTunes to quit when I try.

Sorry for this late answer. I had not to time hanging around on the pc. Thank you for your help.
I solved the problem, lucky!
After deinstalling all Apple Software (except safari) I started the PC again and installed Itunes another time.
It worked, so I am happy, still not knowing what was the problem.
The best thing is, that my mediathek is still running (I hoped so, it was put on another harddrive.)
Updates should not stress that way...
Thanks again for supporting,

  • Ipod causing iTunes and Finder to be unresponsive

When I plug my 15gig 3rd generation ipod into my iMac (OS10.3.9) it shows up on my desktop but I cannot update my iPod. The spinning beachball appears. iTunes does not operate properly, the ipod does not appear in the playlist column or in the Preference window and when I try a Force Quit, sometimes iTunes shows as "not responding" (I thought only Microsoft products did that) and sometimes I have to Force Quit iTunes 4 and 5 times before it quits. iTunes only seems to misbehave when I try to sync it with my iPod. What is going on???

used a USB cord. reset to factory. reinstalled latest OS. Now the iPod works with the firewire.

  • Itunes causes Windows Vista  Explorer shortcut buttons to misbehave

    Hi,
I've been observing some strange phenomena on my Windows Vista which my wife recently correlated to running ITunes. I'm pretty sure she is right about ITunes being the cause.
When ITunes has been running for a while, the shortcut buttons at the bottom of the screen (one for each running application) end up being drawn shifted, such that the rightmost one appears UNDER the circular icon with the Window's logo flag (the "start" button), but the actual button is still in it's correct place. The result is is that when you click on a button, it activates an adjacent application!
Furthermore, when I start ITunes, I get a notification that Quicktime is out of date. The warning reads: "Some of your QuickTime software is out of date. You can fix this problem by updating to the latest version." with "Cancel" and "DoItNow" buttons. When I click the DoItNow button, I then get another message: "Information received from the Quick Time server is invalid. Please try again later."
    I am running ITunes 7.5.0.20.
    Mark Z.

    Mark Z.
Lets break this down step by step.
In your first question you say that when itunes is running for a while it shifts the buttons on the task bar.  when this happens you have to unlock the task-bar and manually fix the task bar.
Right click the task bar and select unlock task bar
    Fix the task bar
And then right click the task bar again and select lock the task bar.
If it helps you might need to close itunes to fix this problem.
(Note itunes 7.5 has a lot of problems in it hopefully the next itunes update will resolve this.)
Your next question states that when you try to up date quick time you get a message saying that the"Information received from the Quick Time server is invalid. Please try again later."
The best way to fix this is to download the installer files off of the apple website and install them.
Here is the link to the quicktime installer.
    http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/
Download and install the installer which is the updated version of quick time
(There is an option to download both itunes and quick time )
(Quick time version 7.3.1) (If you redownload itunes the version is 7.5)
    Hope this helps,

  • ITunes Home Sharing misbehaves on one mac in my house

I moved into my wife's old 24" iMac and handed my 20" iMac down to my daughter who is away at school. I have Home Sharing turned on on this Mac and my wife's new 27" iMac. My Apple TV can see her library, but not mine. The Remote App on my iPod touch can see the Apple TV and my Wife's iMac, but not mine. My Mac can see my Wife's iTunes library and her Mac can see my library. Both of the Macs and my iPod all see the Apple TV as an output (Airplay).
I am using the same account everywhere.
I have thrown out all of my iTune prefs, I have reinstalled iTunes. I have even wasted a day reformatting, reinstalling OS X and restoring from Time Machine.
I don't know what else to try.

Colour me flabbergasted! I just finished posting my question and looked down at my iPod to see my Mac Library staring me in the face. I went downstairs and checked the Apple TV and, sure enough, there it was also.
What I had just done was to turn Home Sharing off everywhere and then turn it back on everywhere. If that's all it takes, I cant believe I went through so much angst trying to make it work.

  • After Drive Replacement, iTunes Points To Wrong Folder Even After Adjusting Settings

I moved my music to a new hard drive. I then adjusted settings within iTunes to "point" to the folder on the new drive. The folder name is identical as are all the files within it. I did this a few months back and had no issues once iTunes "located" my files. All files played, playlists remained intact. This time however only a small portion of my files successfully "located" and the remaining 75% are unplayable. When "shown in finder", the unplayable tracks point to a completely random folder within my mail folder of obviously non-music files. I've been searching for weeks how to fix this to no avail. I definitely do not want to lose my playlists, play counts, etc. so starting from scratch with iTunes is not an option for me. Please advise how to fix this very odd issue!
    iMac 3.4 Ghz i7
    OSX 10.8.5
    iTunes 12.0.1.26 (just updated)

To resolve this we will need details.  I don't know exactly what is where.  Even though it "worked last time" I see people post with that and almost invariably there is something different in the scenario this time.
The iTunes application alone has no idea where media files are.  You could drag all the media folders you like to the Media folder and it won't know.  You could "point" iTunes to that folder in preferences and it still will never look there.  iTunes knows where files are because as you add them to iTunes it puts them in the Media folder and makes a note in that .itl file where the files are located.  When you try to play a track iTunes looks up in the .itl file which media file it should try to play when you request the track and goes to that location to play the file.  If there file isn't there you get !  You have to mend the links one by one, or iTunes might try, based on you repairing links. to repair other links, but it doesn't usually work that way and is only partly successful at times (as we have already discussed).  If you have ever walked into a store and see an empty shelf but their web site says they have 3 in stock and the sales person says all their stock is out on the shelf, iTunes is like that.
Here's a bunch of links on how iTunes works.  As you can see, an entire library is a whole bunch of files and support folders working in concert and when they get split up iTunes starts misbehaving.

  • Safari, Mail, iTunes and Skype won't open

    Hi there Apple-Support-Team,
a few days ago I did an update of Safari, suggested automatically by Apple, but wasn't sure if the update was successfull (I had to leave the house).
Now all applications with internet connection (Safari, Mail, iTunes, Skype) won't open anymore. Not from the dock or the application folder. I checked my internet connection which seems to be working.
I've seen quite some reports in this forum but I am not sure if I'm having the same trouble as the other users. I get no error reports or anything else, the apps just don't open.
    Mac OS X version 10.4.11
    Safari 3.0.4
    Many thanks
    Mexximexx

    Welcome to the forums!
Did you restart your Mac after the install?
If your Safari keeps crashing, or if you are updating Safari (or just have) and it is misbehaving:
N.B. Never delete Safari, never run it under Rosetta, don't use proxy settings, and don't change the application's name or move it from the top level of the Applications Folder to a sub-folder.
(If you prefer to download updates via Software Update in the Apple menu (which would ensure that the correct version for your Mac was being downloaded), it is not recommended to allow SU to install major (or even minor) updates automatically. Set Software Update to just download the updater without immediately installing it. There is always the possibility that the combined download and install (which can be a lengthy process) might be interrupted by a power outage or your cat walking across the keyboard, and an interrupted install will almost certainly cause havoc. Once it is downloaded, you can install at a time that suits you. You should make a backup copy of the updater on a CD in case you ever need a reinstall. Alternatively you can download Safari directly:
Safari 4.1.1 for Tiger can be downloaded here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1069
Safari 5.0.1 for Leopard (and Snow Leopard) can be downloaded from here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1070
Make sure you download the correct version for your system.
Also, observe the recommended procedure for installing software: repair permissions and close all applications, install, then repair permissions again.)
Input Managers and other plug-ins from third parties can do as much harm as good. They use a security loophole to reach right into your applications' code and change that code as the application starts up. If Safari is crashing, the very first thing to do is clear out your InputManagers folders (both in your own Library and in the top-level Library), log out and log back in, and try again.
So, disable all third party add-ons before updating Safari, as they may not have been updated yet for the new version. Add them back one by one. If something goes awry, remove it again and check on the software manufacturer's website for news of an update to match your version of Safari. Remember: Tiger up to 10.4.10 used Safari 2.0.4 or, if you downloaded it, Safari 3.0.3 beta. Safari 10.4.11 used Safari 3.0.4 which was not a beta and which was updated to v.3.1.2, and now Tiger uses Safari 4.1.1 and Leopard uses Safari 5.0.1, as does Snow Leopard albeit a different version. If these latest versions of Safari are not the fastest browser you have ever used, then something is wrong!
(Trying to revert to a previous version of Safari can have repercussions, as previous versions of Safari used a completely different webkit on which other applications like iChat, Mail, Dashboard Widgets etc also rely, but if you really want to do this post back for instructions on the safe way to do so.)
Most errors reported here after an update are due to an unrepaired or undetected inherent fault in the system, and/or a third party ad-on. Add-ons that have been frequently mentioned here, among others, for causing such problems are Piclens, Saft, AcidSearch and Pithhelmet, and the dreaded CT Toolbar. If you have them, trash them and go the developer's sites to see if new versions are available for the latest version of Safari on your current operating system.
You must also ensure that you have downloaded and installed all the correct version for your Mac of Security Updates. These require a restart and a permission repair.
To reiterate, Input Managers reach right into an application and alter its code. This puts the behavior of the affected application outside the control and responsibility of its developers: a recipe for problems. That's not to say that issues absolutely will ensue as a result of Input Managers, but you, as a user, must decide. If the functionality of a specific Input Manager or set thereof is really important to you, you may well choose to assume the associated risk.
Again, the advice is to remove all Input Managers from the following directories:
    • Hard Disk/Library/InputManagers
    • Home/Library/InputManagers
especially prior to system updates and updates to Safari (they can always be added back one-by-one later).
Lastly, the Safari updates require a restart of your Mac, and sometimes even a double restart is required.

  • ITunes 7.5 wont start & iTunes 7.4 works just fine

    Hi,
i dont know what to say, im just ******... I bought a new iPod nano, and at first i realized that i basicly cant upload music...***?.. I took some books i got, and realized that i need a program, called iTunes.., ok, whatever, so, i download iTunes 7.5-the last version, install it, without any problem, and leave the button where it says Start iTunes when this installation is complete, or something like that, so the installation completes, and i wait, and wait, and nothing happends... I go to my task manager-processes and realized that iTunes is workn, just fine, some ram but no cpu needs... SO ***?, so i check if there are any error logs created by itunes, but my search just wasted my time... So, what to do next, i decide to grab some older iTunes i guess, so i download iTunes 7.4.0, and wolla it works, although it says: Windows system components that iTunes requires are missing or corrupted, so i say, finally, an error so that i know what to do but i click continue and see there iTunes starts, so i plug my iPod, and it works, unbelievable, but, a huge error, ITS SLOW, SO SLOOOOOW, and i upload a movie and its syncing and syncing and syncing and syncing although the iPod doesnt sync!!!
APPLE GET UR *** UP AND FIX THIS PROBLEM, or ill just have to switch to Zune,... And i thought that BSD programmers are worth more... Dammit

If you went through the Apple troubleshooting steps, you should know if the problem is user specific or system wide.
I am guessing that it will be system wide if iTunes reports system components missing. May be that should be the starting point for investigations.
Do you have the full error message with error numbers? Does everything else work normally on your system with good performance?
In general if you have iTuens failing to launch but with iTunes.exe persisting on the processes tab in the task manager, I think of three initial possibilities, damaged configuration file, firewall blocking and misbehaving plugins. However in your case it may be this system problem iTunes is reporting.

  • Songs are in reverse order on iPad, but correct on iTunes

I have a number of Smart Playlists that look fine when displayed on iTunes, but when iTunes copies them to my iPad Air, the list of albums shows up in the correct order but the songs in each album are sorted in reverse order.
So for example, I have a Smart Playlist defined where "Artist is Jean Michel Jarre".  That playlist is sorted by Year in list view and by Year-then-Title in Grid view.
When I look at that same Playlist on my iPad Air, all of his albums appear in chronological order (which I expect), but the songs on each album are listed last-to-first.  So Oxygene (his first album) shows up before Equinoxe (his second album), but the list of songs on the Oxygene album are shown as: Part VI, Part V, Part IV, Part III, Part II, Part I.  All of the albums on the list are in the right order, but the list of songs on each album appears backwards in each one.
This is just one example of a bug that manifests itself a lot on my iPad.  I have a lot of Smart Playlists that misbehave just like this.  I deal with it by creating not-smart playlists that are exact copies of the Smart Playlists -- but honestly, why offer Smart Playlists if they're not going to display correctly?  If they're this buggy, why am I using them at all?
Does anybody know of a workaround for this bug?  Does anybody know whether Apple is aware of it, and if they have any plans to fix it?  Please? Maybe? Someday?

I am now home from work, and over the past hour I have tried every combination of up-arrows, down-arrows, Copy To Play Order, sorting on the leftmost column, sorting on the Year column, etc. etc. that I could think of.  I believe I have followed your recommendations slavishly and to the letter.
My Jean Michel Jarre Smart Playlist is sorted with the triangle on the leftmost column, and in iTunes, the playlist order is correct.  I have sync'd my iTunes library to the iPad several times, I have unchecked that playlist, performed the sync again to remove it from the iPad entirely, checked it again and performed the sync again -- I have also tried closing the Music app on the iPad and restarting it -- I've also tried deliberately sorting the tracks in iTunes in reverse order to see if the iPad does anything any differently, including a "Copy to Play Order" for good luck -- and every combination of all of these choices results in exactly the same outcome: on the iPad, albums show up in chronological order, and tracks in each album show up in reverse order.  Nothing I do makes any difference at all.
Here's hoping iOS 8 at least doesn't make things any worse.  Maybe if the gods are smiling, it might actually solve this problem.  I was hoping that the upgrade to iTunes 11.4 might have made a difference, but, sadly, no such luck ... which is why my hopes for salvation in iOS 8 are not high ... but that doesn't stop me from being grateful to you for trying to help.  Thank you for your time.  I do appreciate it.

  • ID3 tags that look fine in iTunes are ungood on the iPod touch

I've got 60,000-plus MP3 tracks, collected over a decade, that were encoded by a variety of apps on Macs and PCs. The tracks look OK in iTunes on a Mac, but on an iPod touch, many songs are missing artwork, and others display the lyrics in garbled "mojibake" characters.
If the garbling occurred in all the ID3 tags (Name, Artist, Album, etc.) of a track instead of just the lyrics tag, I'd simply reverse the unicode; but as it's not, the solution has to force the misbehaving ID3 tags/artwork to display correctly. I've tried selecting the problem songs and reassigning the ID3 tag, but iTunes can't or won't overwrite the bad tags.
What does work as a solution is toggling the ID3 tags off and on by selecting the bad tracks in iTunes, right-clicking and choosing "Convert ID3 Tags...", then assigning "None" as the ID3 tag version. Next step is to select "Convert ID3 Tags..." again, this time choosing v2.3 or v2.4 as the ID3 version. That does the trick every time, stripping away corruption in the ID3 tags and forcing the tracks to accept artwork. However, it also truncates tags longer than 30 characters, and deletes existing lyrics and artwork. That makes for a lot of cleanup editing.
Is there a way to make iTunes assign ID3 v2.3 to tracks so as to overwrite the corrupt tags without going through the steps I've outlined? If not, is there an app out there with the mojo to fix these corrupt files?

If the song is in iTunes, and it is in a playlist that you auto-sync your Touch to, then the only things that might cause this problem are:
1- Is this new song un-checked in iTunes? If your Touch is set to sync only checked items that would prevent it from syncing. If that's the case, just enable the checkmark next to the new song and re-sync.
2- Is this playlist a smart playlist that is forced to be limited in size? If so, there is a bug with the 3.1.x OS such that smart playlists that are limited in size will have different contents (and sorted differently) when you compare the playlist on iTunes vs. on the Touch. The solution in this case is to disable Live Updating in the smart playlist definition, then the two versions of the playlist will agree.
3- Is the new song tagged as "Skip when Shuffling"? If so, and if your Touch is in shuffle mode, then the song count in the playlist will not include songs that are designated to be skipped.
See if any of those three things are what is going on. If not, then perhaps you need to reset or restore your Touch, but I doubt that.

  • Itunes doesn't list all my music in my itunes library, will refuse to sync some albums

Both of these problems have been issues for me for years. I've finally gotten irritated enough to post something. As a musician with a variable and eclectic taste, I've always had a huge CD collection. Some years ago I got my first mp3 player and soon broke down and converted every last CD to mp3. Now everything I buy is digital and I have some 300 GB of mp3's!
I've searched around for a solution to this problem many times over the past several years and was never able to find any posts that describe either problem.
The first part of my problem has always been that, after installing iTunes and telling it where my library is, it starts to catalog them in the iTunes library. However it always stops short of cataloging all my music. Also, after the inital cataloging it does right after installing iTunes, it never cataloges again, so my new music never appears in the library. This is very irritating since this means I can't listen to my new music on my iPhone.
The second part of my problem happens when I try to sync individual albums that are already in my iTunes library with my iPhone 3GS 32GB (iOS 5). This also has been a problem for years. I prefer to sync individual albums with my iPhone, so I keep the "sync only checked songs and videos" box checked, and then go into (my iphone)>music and check individual albums. Sometimes I will try to add a few albums to my iPhone, so I'll go and check them and click Sync. iTunes goes through the sync process, but during the last step where it's supposed to copy the songs to the phone, it will not copy any songs. I check on my phone, and sure enough they are not there. I check the list of checked albums in iTunes in (my phone)>Music and they are checked. Unchecking, clicking sync, then checking again, and clicking sync gives me the same exact results. Whenver this happens with an album, the album forever refuses to be synced with my phone. Also, each time this happens, the bar at the bottom of iTunes showing the free space in my iPhone decreases as if it's on there, but it is not on the phone. I can go on to sync other albums with my phone, but the albums that misbehave like this will never sync. I know it's not the mp3's that are in the albums: they play just fine in both WMP and iTunes. Also there does not seem to be a pattern to which albums will not sync. Some albums were ripped from my original CD collection, some were bought digitally.
How can I fix these issues? I think they're distinct and not related. Thanks in advance for all the helpful tips

I should mention that, for the first problem, I do make sure that my new tracks are stored in the folder where I told iTunes that my music is in. Also, when I say the cataloging of my library stops short of cataloging all my songs, I have tried leaving the computer unattended for days (my computer's sleep mode is disabled). It always stops before cataloging all of my music regardless of whether I am doing something else while iTunes is cataloging, or if I just let iTunes be the only program that's open during the cataloging process.

  • ITunes 10.6.3 freezes whenever iPhone 4 or iPad 2 connected - SyncServer errors

All was well toward the end of 6/2012. I migrated to iCloud and everything seemed to be working. I was away on vacation when MobileMe "closed."
Now I'm back and having terrible trouble synchronizing either of my iPhone 4s or my iPad 2. iTunes seems to be working well, purchasing apps & music and playing music, until I plug in one of these devices. At that point, iTunes becomes unresponsive for a prolonged period. The Console window repeated states:
    7/11/12 12:10:53.961 PM com.apple.launchd.peruser.501: (com.apple.syncservices.SyncServer) Throttling respawn: Will start in 9 seconds
    7/11/12 12:11:02.997 PM com.apple.launchd.peruser.501: (com.apple.syncservices.SyncServer[1728]) Exited with code: 1
This goes on for up to an hour or so. Then iTunes gives an error message saying that syncing has been disabled for this device, do I want to enable it? Specifically, it says, "iTunes cannot sync information with the iPad “Scott's iPad” because syncing has been disabled on this computer. Do you want to enable syncing? If you do not enable syncing, iTunes will not be able to sync contacts, calendars, bookmarks or mail accounts to your iPad." If I say "yes", the whole process starts over with unresponsive iTunes and Console errors, and I get nowhere. If I say "no", then iTunes is unresponsive again, and the Console SyncServer errors repeat for another 30 to 60 minutes, but then, magically, the device backs up and syncs. Attempting to sync again, with or without disconnecting the device first, means starting the whole frozen iTunes process over again.
My contacts, calendars, and email are being handled over iCloud on all devices. Now I'm noticing that the Mail, Contacts, and Calendars preference pane seems to be randomly filling in bizarre information for some secondary iCloud accounts, and it freezes when I try to turn on Contacts for one of those accounts (with more SyncServer errors on the console). I deleted the misbehaving account, and now the preference pane freezes when I try to add any account. I feel like there is a corrupted preference file related to SyncServer or Mail, Contacts, and Calendars. There used to be a way to manually reset SyncServer (or whatever it was called then). Does anyone know how to reset SyncServer or clear out the preferences and start over?
UPDATE: The Mail, Contacts, and Calendars pref pane finally crashed with the following Console error message:
7/11/12 1:19:49.972 PM System Preferences: Timed out waiting for the sync server
7/11/12 1:19:50.004 PM System Preferences: *** Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'ISyncServerUnavailableException', reason: 'Timed out waiting for the sync server'
I'm just trying to run a small business. This is way over my head, and I'd really appreciate any advice from someone more knowledgeable. Thanks.

I fixed this by upgrading iphoto 9 to iphoto 11 at a cost of 15$ .It seems syncing photos
from iphoto 09 causes problems with the new itunes update.

  • Installing iTunes on Vista 64-bit

*Looking for 64-bit support from Apple*
I'm running the 64-bit version of Windows and was disappointed to find out that Apple does not support it (see http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=301301 ). I tried to install iTunes anyway and the installation failed. This forum didn't provide any initial solutions that I could find so now that I've figured it out I thought I would post a solution for those that come looking.
*How do I know if I have the 64-bit version of Vista?*
Press the windows key and the Pause/Break key at the same time (the pause/break key is normally in the upper right corner of the keyboard). On the window that appears look for the label "System Type." next to it you will see text indicating whether you have a 32-bit or 64-bit version of Vista.
*What Will happen if I try to install Vista?*
You experience may varry, but when I tried the installation ran for a while and ended with a message saying Quicktime could not be installed. I checked the Programs menu and iTunes was not listed after this failure.
*How do I successfully install iTunes on a 64-bit edition of Vista?*
When you download iTunes select the option to save the installation instead of running it immediatly. After the download completes right-click on the installation and select properties. Under the "Compatibility" tab check the box that says "Run this program in compatibility mode for." Ensure that "Windows XP (Service Pack 2)" is selected. Also check the box that says "Run this program as an administrator." Click on okay and the install iTunes.
*Will this also work for XP 64-bit edition?*
    I don't know.
*I've successfully installed iTunes on my 64-bit machine. Can I use it to activate my iPhone?*
    No.
If you try to activate your iPhone you will receive a message saying "Please connect iPhone to a computer running a 32-bit version of Windows XP (SP2) or Windows Vista."
*What happens if I set iTunes to run in Compatibility mode*
iTunes will detect that it is running in a compatibility mode and suggest that you turn the mode off and restart iTunes. Since it recognizes that it is running on a 64-bit machine it will still refuse to activate an iPhone. Bummer.
*If I activate my iPhone on another machine then can i transfer content to it on Vista 64-bit edition?*
Nope. iTunes will instruct you to connect the phone to a 32-bit machine.

Yes the forum has been misbehaving recently hence my double post. Ther should be an edit button, but it is only present for a few minute.
The error you are getting has certainly been associated with a failure of Windows updates, but I don't know if the one you mention is an issue.
    The microsoft link to the update problem is;
    http://windowshelp.microsoft.com/Windows/en-US/Help/ca7d15d7-8ee3-4993-bd01-753d adc904121033.mspx
That's about as far as I can go with this I am afraid.

  • Ipod touch not recognized by itunes 9 (this isn't the usual problem.)

My sister put playdoh in my usb cord a month or two ago and in the open part of the ipod which you put the usb cord in.I cleaned it out with a toothpick. First usb cord stopped working got another one. My ipod was fine till a few weeks ago. My ipod used to only connect 1/10 times randomly, but now it rarely does. I tried every usb hub or port internal and external. I've tried restoring my ipod, reinstalling itunes, restarting services, etc. Can someone help me. Someone said maybe the connectors are coroded, but the warranty i don't believe covers against abuse though my 3 year old sister did it... really a kick in the balls. Anyway if you can help i'd appreciate it thanks.

Well i have noticed that it will randomly turn off now
Okay. I don't associate that with a corrosion issue. (Our nano would play and charge perfectly happily, it just wouldn't sync any more after I had sweated out the dock connector.)
So, I'm suspecting that the connection trouble might be related more to whatever's causing the random stopping rather than the Play-Doh incident.
Perhaps try another restore to see if you can get her playing-without-switching-off/syncing again ... and if she continues to misbehave, and there's no sign of Play-Doh in the connector any more, I think you've got a decent and legitimate shot at getting her replaced under guarantee (if she's still under guarantee).

  • Can no longer add music files to itunes after 10.4 update

For over 7 years i have used frostwire to download and save music into a m3u file on my computer. Then i would go to itunes and add file to library locate my file i would call my music and add it. Never have i had a problem however after the 10.4 update nothing is showing up in my library when i try to add file. Please help is there going to be an update to fix this or is there something i can do to fix it?

I had the the same problem albeit with an m4v (same hardware and OS rev too!, iTunes 10.6.3). I was able to add the movie to a new library per Limnos' suggestion here, indicating that iTunes wasn't totally busted. However, I was also able to see the movie in the Recently Added smart playlist (another hat tip to Limnos), although it still did not appear in the Movies section of my iTunes library. (It was also in the iTunes Library.xml file.)
So I called AppleCare, and they directed me to move the file from the external drive where it was living, into the /Users/<Your Name Here>/Movies directory, and to "Add to Library" (Command-O) from that location. Sure enough (and much to my surprise), it showed up immediately (duplicated, actually) in the Movies section of my iTunes library. Subsequent additions to my Library have not misbehaved similiarly.

  • ITunes no longer adds new photos to my iPad

I have two iPad Airs running IOS 8.1.1.  I added some photos to Aperture and went to sync them to the iPads with iTunes on my Mac.
I have 38,000 photos on these, so this isn't a new process.  I am running the latest versions of IOS and iTunes on my iMac which runs Yosemite.
The last month's worth of photos uploaded to one iPad, but I can't update them on the other.  There's room left to do so, but it completes the sync process normally, but the photos are not updated.   I don't want to wipe the misbehaving iPad since it takes a long time to replace 38k photos.
    Anybody have any ideas?

Nevermind - rebooting the iMac and the iPad "magically" resolved the problem and the photos are copies correctly.
