ITunes 10.4.1 won't even begin to install

Hi,
I'm trying to install 10.4.1 on Windows XP, fully updated.  Initial attempts gave a 'file corrupted' message.  I have now followed all instructions to uninstall iTunes, Quicktime and associated programs, and removed all the Apple files I can find in Documents and Settings etc.
The download still won't install: a couple of times I've got as far as accepting conditions and got a message that installation failed, but normally (after uninstalling everything, restarting, etc) I just get a progress bar with no text, which disappears after a few seconds with no error message at all.
I have tried using WinRAR to extract the files from iTunesSetup.exe and get a message saying 'the archive is corrupt' .  Back to square one.
Can something be corrupting the downloaded file?  I have switched off anti-virus (AVG) with no difference. The iTunesSetup.exe file is consistently 79,326KB
Very grateful for any help anyone can offer!
Thanks.

Hi - thanks for your help and sorry not to have replied before - I've been away.
I use mainly Chrome but also tried IE8 just in case - no difference.  However I finally remembered that when I had a similar problem downloading/installing OS4 for my iPhone (which crashed it and caused total lockup for about 4 days, resolved only after hours of calls to iPhone helpdesk) it turned out that the problem was caused by my home wi-fi connection.  When I hard-wired the network connection the problem was solved.  I tried it with iTunes - and it installed first time.
Don't know what would cause this problem, which as far as I can see affects only Apple software.  Everything else seems to download and install over the wi-fi without glitches.
Best,
John

  • Spotify won't even begin to install.

I'm using Windows 8. The Spotify downloader crashes immediately on launch. No amount of tweaking of the compatibility settings seems to help. Internet connection sharing is off and the "UPnP Device Host" and "SSDP Discovery" services are off.

Hey! Welcome to the community :)
Do you get an error message? Also make sure you don't have any anti-virus or other software running which might be interferring.
Have a go with the full installer package from this page.

  • HT4623 I used iTunes to update my 4s which is now frozen.  Picture shows the charger cord with an arrow to the iTunes logo.  Computer won't even recognize that my phone is plugged in.  I have tried the hard boot.  Nothing works...

Please help with my iPhone 4s.  I updated to OS 8 using iTunes.  It had an error and no my phone is frozen.  It shows the pic of the charger with an arrow pointing to the iTunes logo.  I have tried a hard boot.  I plug it into iTunes.  My computer won't even acknowledge it is plugged in.  Any tips???

Sounds like it is time to call Apple and make an appointment to take it in for them to examine it and find out what is wrong with it.

  • ITunes 10.5.1 won't even open.. :(

My iTunes was working a few days ago, now it won't even load. I downloaded it a few days after it was posted, nothing majorly wrong there. I haven't really downloaded anything else lately. It was working just a couple of days ago! What's wrong?! D:
I've uninstalled everything iTunes, reinstalled it all- same problem. I really, really won't want to have to delete my whole library. I think that I'd cry if I did. Any ideas? :S :/

    Don't cry ;-)
It's no problem!!! Do you always download iTunes from Apple? http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Have you installed any software some days ago? Espacially Anti-Spam may block it.
Please one more time uninstall iTunes by the Windows settings. All your data should stay! Then install it new from http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/ and restart computer before opening iTunes. Does it now work?
Is there any help over here? http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/troubleshooting/
If you're fine with this, please mark it as helpful or even best answer. Thank you!
If you're not okay with this, remember me and I will try to help you further!

  • I run Windows 7 and the newest version (10.6) of iTunes will not install. The installer won't even begin, and when I run the Apple Software update, it tells me that iCloud and iTunes have invalid signature.

When I run the Apple Software update, it tells me that iCloud and iTunes have invalid signature and will not be downloaded. When I DL iTunes64setup.exe, the program will not start (there's a bar that flashes but nothing actually begins). I've done everything short of reinstalling Windows to fix this (system resore, unistalling all Apple products, taking down firewall, running Windows FixIt - which either won't find the problem or gives me an error saying that the troubleshooter cannot be downloaded at this time, going into the security features to allow programs without valid signatures, trying to install earlier versions of iTunes). It all started when I downloaded the Decemberists new album on my iPhone, and it wasn't downloading it properly so I connected it to my Dell, but some songs still wouldn't DL - also, the newest OS for my iPhone still won't install via WiFi - and so I uninstalled iTunes first, but nothing is helping. And I don't have any security issues (Norton has checked). Any ideas? I'm at my wit's end after 3 days of this. Thank you.

Ok, so after like 4 days of going through all these different issues, I figured out that several programs weren't downloading, and it was an issue with my wireless connectivity messing up the digital signatures, so if you plug in your comp to the modem and delete your temp files, it should start to work!

  • IPhone 3GS (iOS4) has iTunes/USB icon and won't even sync!

I have an iPhone 3GS. I was updating from iOS4 to iOS 4.0.1. in iTunes. At the end of the iTunes update I got a dialog box that says "iTunes has detected an Iphone in recovery mode. You must restore this iPhone before it can be used with iTunes." Then I got the iTunes with white USB icon on the face of my iPhone! When I try to sync with iTunes it says that I need to wipe my phone!
I restarted my computer. Repaired permissions. Rebooted the iPhone several times (and still get the iTunes/USB icon), tried to sync with iTunes. It won't work. I don't want to wipe my phone.
    Help!

Try altering the tag for the ringtone: right-click on a ringtone in iTunes and select Get Info, go to the Info tab and make a slight change to the Artist, tap OK and try syncing again.  If it transfers to your phone do the same for the others.

  • Lion won't even begin downloading from app store?!?!

I purchased it in the app store and it immediately debited my account for the cost (of course).
When I click on install I simply get "0 bytes of 3.74 GB - Less than a  minute remaining" AND IT NEVER CHANGES.
After a while I get red letters next to the INSTALL icon that simply states "An error has occurred"  (Really?  Derrr...) and the icon disappears from my launch bar.
If I click INSTALL again, the red message stays there, the Lion icon in the launcher just sits at "waiting..."
So now support simply states "well, you'll have to keep trying or take it into a service center".  ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?!
It's been OVER 12 hours of absolutely NOTHING for $30.
Has anyone had this issue?  How can it be fixed?  I've waited patiently for Lion since the Keynote and now I can't even get it to download!
Remember that line Steve said in the Keynote... we've all heard it before... "it JUST WORKS"... I cry foul, FOUL!
I'm a NEW Apple owner.  Not such a great first impression I have to say.
    Help?

Hi Thanks for the update. Apple say my speed is fine I have ADSL and have downloaded FCP 10 , motion, compressor all without any issues.
For me to drive to a store is about 80k and then likely I would have to leave it with them, so 4 trips and a BIG disruption for me. There has to be an easier solution to this, after all its just a download file!!
I have plugged in the Ethernet cable as well.
PS I am in New Zealand South Island Central Otago Apple stores are not that common :-(

  • Doesn't even begin to install and can't read Readme file

I inserted the DVD in my Mac, but after some whirring, no installation screen came up.
I clicked on the DVD icon, which showed various versions of the Readme file, but when I clicked on the ReadMe, it just opened FIrefox to my home page.
I'm using an intel iMac 10.6.2.
    Thank you for any help!

Thanks! I thought I had tried that, but I also had expected that it would just install since that's what other products on the Mac seem to do.
Thank you again for your help!

  • Leopard will not even begin to install on G5

I am trying to install Leopard on my Power Mac G5. I am currently running 10.4.9 I have 2 hard drives installed - a Mac and a Hitachi. I have the retail Leopard install disc.
When I insert the Leopard install disc I don't get beyond step ONE! I double click on 'restart' and the Leopard install disc spins away in the DVD drive but after letting it run for 1.5 hours all I have is a gray screen with the pointer in it. The pointer moves with the mouse so this isn't a true freeze - I think you might call it a 'hang'. I.E. I never get to the 'choose location' screen. I have verified the permissions on my hard drive.
Can anyone tell me what's up?
    THANKS to all.

Are you sure you meet the minimum memory requirements?
You must have 512 MB of memory installed or you will not be able to install Leopard.
I went through this with my Sister-In-Laws iMac G5. She only had 256 MB of memory.
She is going to take it to the Apple Store to have more added as she doesn't know how and we live 3,000 miles from each other.

  • I downloaded it, but it won't even load/ open/ install on my phone (Acer Liquid E). It says I am "Out of Space"... but I'm not.

According to the requirements listed, I need 17MB of space. I have more than enough on both the SD card and the phone.
I don't see this problem listed elsewhere, so I thought I'd ask if anyone knows why this might happen.

Sorry, I'm not sure why this happened or how to fix it (aside from doing a "factory reset" of your whole phone).
Did you ever install any previous version of Firefox or Fennec on this phone?

  • My itunes 10.4.1 won't play on my mac air

I own a Macbook Air and it runs on OSX 10.7.1
My itunes 10.4.1 is unable to play any of my mp3s whether old or newly downloaded.
The status bar of the song remains at 0:00 even though there is a speaker icon that appears beside the title of the song chosen.
I have Quicktime installed and have also tried to solve the issue by updating my iTunes. But it won't even update. There is always an error when I try updating.
    Help please!

I haven't kept records of the songs I have paid for, and a number of songs have recently been displaying this message, making me search my computer for them. Most I have been able to find, but this one immediately "disappeared" the moment I attempted to play it after downloading...... how do I either get it back or get my money back???

How did you do this move?  Unless you know what you are doing you have to move the whole, complete iTunes folder.
iTunes: How to move [or copy] your music to a new computer [or another drive] - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4527
Quick answer if you use iTunes' default preferences settings:  Copy the entire iTunes folder (and in doing so all its subfolders and files) intact to the other drive.  Open iTunes and immediately hold down the Option (alt) key (shift on Windows), then guide it to the new location of the library.

I've just updated my Itunes to the newest update (iso7 I think) and now my itunes won't even open. It just jumps 2-3 times on my dock then doesn't open. I have no idea what to do , please help!

Open Finder. Go to the "Go" menu in the menu bar. Press and hold Control and click on Library. Go to "Preferences". Find a file named, "com.apple.iTunes.plist" and delete that file. This won't delete your iTunes content. It will reset iTunes. Try it again.
