ITunes 10.4 error updating
i just updated to Lion today and when i try to open iTunes i get this message:
The file “iTunes Library.itl” cannot be read because it was created by a newer version of iTunes. Would you like to download iTunes now?
when i say ok, and try to download, it downloads then i get an error saying there was an fault installing.
has anyone else recieved this message or is there a way to fix this? thanks for your help!
well i was able to solve the problem lastnight while reading into some of these threads.
i created an additional admin user, used that account to download and install itunes to 10.4 - works perfectly! i have no idea why i was having issues w/ my current admin user, but whatever works for now until they patch it.

That suggests that the installer is getting damaged during the download.
I'd first try downloading an installer from the Apple website using a different web browser:

If you use Firefox instead of IE for the download (or vice versa), do you get a working installer? -
hi, for the last 3 hours i ve been trying to install and update itunes to the lates update....before my itunes would open just like i want it to and ever since i tried updateing to the new software my itunes wont open i get a code 2324....i realy dont want to have to put itunes on a diferent computer....please help on what to do to fix this and get my library back cause it wont open....please desperately need help

Updated iPad 1 to IOS 5. When trying to restore my iPad from my backup it gets half way through and the iPad reboots and iTunes says "An error occurred while restoring this iPad (-1)"
I have tried to restore my contacts and company data at least 20 times and every time half way through THE iPAD REBOOTS! When it boots back up it is at the brand new iPad screen.
This makes me angry as I do not use the iPad for fun and games. I use it for business. My company data and records for the last year are gone. ALL of my out standing customer invoices are gone. ALL payments received are gone! ALL Business contacts and emails ARE GONE! All my company, personal email accounts and settings ARE GONE!
What am I supposed to do now? In 6 hours I have to get on the road and conduct business with a empty blank factory out of the box iPad. How am I supposed to know who owes me money or who has paid their bills Apple? All of my meetings and calendar dates are GONE!
Everything was supposed to be backed up and restored after the update!
Question???WHY DID YOU MAKE THIS UPDATE WIPE OUT ALL SETTINGS AND APPS ON THE iPAD??? All the other updates left everything on the iPad intact and ONLY upgraded the IOS,and when it was done everything was still there.
Yes! I have done everything. Rebooted computer, checked for updates, Hard booted iPad, Factory restored iPad to ios 5 twice, tried every usb port I have, unplugged all other usb components.
Everytime half way through "Restoring iPad from backup..." The iPad turns off shows a spinning circle then shows the Apple logo and takes me to the brand new iPad setup screen.
Apple, you have no idea the level of stress you have created today.....Check the console app to see if there are any error messages. I had one app showing an issue (Pet Hotel) the error was (truncated):

I manually snyc'ed that particular app and then re-ran the restore and am now the proud owner of a working iphone. Not sure it is the same problem or app but looking in the console was the key! -
When I try and start iTunes after trying to intall the 11.4 update on my Windows 7 laptop, it says to reinstall iTunes and "Windows Error Code 193" I tried ave the same failed response. Can someone help?

I tried to open my Itunes toady on my home computer. It said to update the library so I did. Now it wont open or anything. Tried reinstalling everything and get the error messages posted in the title above. Please Help. I have a lot tied into Itunes. How can I resolve error code -54 in iTunes? I am using the latest iTunes. No new updates are available. I'm using iTunes 11.3 on a MacBook Pro, OS X 10.6.8. I can't save my library in iTunes, the message just keeps popping up.
From an OS9 reference, error -54 is a software lock on a file or a permissions error. (Although there is no formal list of OSX error code some of the old codes still apply to OSX .)
First, try simply restarting your computer.
Try quitting iTunes, then deleting the .xml (not .itl !) version of the library file in the iTunes folder (iTunes will generate a new one).

Im still having problems een with the latest update 10.5.2 64 bit for windows 7 this is the message below. This is the same error messagege I get when trying to update from 10.5.1 I have uninstalled several times and nothing seems to cure it. Im really getting fed up with it as I have to use an older laptop with XP on it to transfer Itunes info
Try the following steps:
1. Go to Microsoft website to fix install and Unistall problems. Click "Run now" from Fix it to remove all iTunes & related installer files:

UPDATE: I attempted to bypass activation using the emergency call 112 to get into the homescreen, but the call failed, in fact, even 911 will not go through and give me a call failed. (before you yell at me for dialing 911, I'm a firemedic )

Heres the isse:
When updating iTunes, after the restart I booted up iTunes and it crashed. I was prompted with iTunes had been updated incorrectly and to uninstall and reinstall iTunes. After downloading the installer from itunes.ca. I opened up the application, and clicked Next. Under the directory it says M Drive, I dont have an M drive at all, I click change and a prompt pops that says, "The volume M:/ is currently unavailable. Please select another." with "ok" being the only selection.
After hitting ok, it says "itunes installer completed" "Errors occured during installation before iTunes could be configured. Your system has not been modified. To complete the installation, run the installer again. Click Finish to exit the installer." Finish is the only selectable, and upon restarting the installer the same thing happens. It sounds a lot like your phone was hacked or jailbroken to unlock it prior to your trying to update it.
If that is the case, it is nowpermanently bricked. -

The iPhone 3G is Not Compatible with iOS 6...
It also appears that your phone may have been Hacked and / or Jailbroken...
If this is the case... you are out of luck... Because...
