Itunes 10.4 store blank screen? problem solved

https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3287035?start=0&tstart=0 this method will work for anyone on any operating system you're welcome haha

I have a work around, but it's not for the faint of heart.  It basically involves copying the *.dll files out of the "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support" folder when version 1.5.2 is installed and then upgrading to version 2.0.1 (Quicktime 7.7 or Safari 5.1).
As such I don't recommend you do this unless you know what you are doing, otherwise you will likely have to completely uninstall and reinstall iTunes (or worse).  If you mess things up, don't come to me for help.  You've been warned.
I tested this on Windows XP, but it should work under Vista and 7.
Whenever you want to access your past purchases do the following:
1. Make iTunes, QuickTime and Safari are not running.  Basically no Apple programs.
2. Backup all the *.dll files In the "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support" folder and put them in a safe place.  I zipped them up.
3. Now delete all the *.dll files.  I simply made a "tmp" folder inside the Apple Application Support folder and moved them there.
4. Take the *.dll files you save from version 1.5.2 and copy them into the folder.
Now you can run iTunes and access the store and download your past purchases.  Leaving things like this is bad for a number of reasons, so when you are done simply quit iTunes and then remove the 1.5.2 version dll and put the 2.0.1 dll versions back.
Technically you don't need to replace all the *.dll, only about 10 of them, but it's just easier to replace all of them.  Also note that there is one .dll file that is exclusive to 1.5.2 and 5 that are exclusive to 2.0.1.

  • Itunes store blank screen

I've got itunes installed on my Win 7 PC and untila few days ao it was working fine. Now when I go to the itunes store I get a blank screen.  I did just get an iphone and can use the other screens in intunes but the store page never works.

I have had this frustration for a long time. The problem comes and goes and it was hard to figure out what was wrong. I have uninstalled and installed at least three times and still had the blank screen when I tried to view movies. The ONLY thing that has worked has been to logout from my Apple account (iTunes automatically logs me in) start a movie before logging back in. Once the movie is going, it seems to keep working even when I log back in. Note that I have the latest iTunes release and updates and that did not cure the problem. I hope one of the engineers that views this stuff will fix what seems like a small but extremely frustrating problem.

  • ITunes store = blank screen in iTunes?

For a couple of days now I'm only getting a blank screen when I try to access the iTunes/App Store in my iTunes. Win7x64, iTunes 10.7
    Anyone else with this issue?
I remember there was a similar issue a year or so ago and the solution involved downgrading some itunes component or something... but now I'm not sure.
    Thanks!

Will any other website in any browser work? iTunes surely uses Windows components for internet access and HTML page display. Consider it like another browser. Perhaps re-installing iTunes can help.

  • Itunes 11 Store - Blank Screen

I upgraded to Itunes 11.  Now when I click on the itunes store link in Itunes 11, all I see is a white blank screen.
I uninstalled Itunes and ALL apple components.  Followed the uninstall procedures correctly.
I did a Netshr Winsock Reset as well.
Downloaded the autoruns.exe from Microsoft and the only item under winsock providers was Apple's Bonjour
Checked the parental controls in iTunes and nothing is disabled.
Actually unistalled Norton 360 and disabled windows firewall to help troubleshoot.
Not sure what else to try.  I guess my only option is to re-install windows?
    Does anyone have any suggestions?
    Thanks Rcduck

Update, so I think it's something graphical in iTunes, when i use the column view in the store I can browse normally, but when I do it normally i just get the blank screen.
Anyone know how to get iTunes working normally again?

  • App Store - blank screen (iphone 5S, ios 8)

I get blank screens for all tabs in the App Store except for the Updates Tab.  I've seen some similar discussions around this in the forum, but nothing specific and recent to what I'm experiencing.  My phone is a "work" phone and is configured with my company's specific settings, so I'm not sure if this a possible cause or not (with respect to security, firewalls, etc.).  I can't imagine it would be since I'm using my Apple account, but stranger things have happened.  Also, I just recently (last week) received this phone and the App Store was working just fine up until a couple days ago.  As far as I can tell, nothing changed between then and now.
    Iphone 5S
    IOS 8.1.3
Anyways, looking to see if there's anyone out there who has seen this and knows of a solution.  Thanks,

My iPhone 5c with iOS 8.1.3 is also demonstrating this problem, as at Feb 7, 2015
However, prior to this, noticed that Updates to installed Apps needed 2 or 3 attempts, so I knew something was up...
    So, surfed the web and found some "solutions", but they did not fix the problem;
    1.  Turn off iAds - no good
    2.  Advance date 1 year, hard-reset & try again - no good
Went to an Apple store, they checked a few things, all OK so we tried a Reset > Network Settings - no good
My phone also is "provisioned" by my company, where they suggested the profile could be the problem (but I couldn't see how).
So, made a Genius Bar appointment for Feb 26, I'll update here with the outcome...
One thing, though, the problem seemed to occur after I connected my phone to my work PC and removed some Apps from my library.  iTunes on the MS-Windows PC hung/behaved strangely as well...  Not sure if it is related.

  • How to downgrade kernel 3.10 - blank screen problem after upgrade

After a recent upgrade, which included kernel 3.10, my ASUS zenbook ux21a boots into a blank screen as reported in these topics:
    https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=167411
    https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=167463
    https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=167518
How do I downgrade to kernel 3.9, please?
On this laptop I only have dual boot Arch and Win8 (but also a vacant partition). My grub timeout is set to 0 seconds because I almost never use windows, hence my problem is to get any control of the PC. I have attempted a fresh install from USB, but it takes me into exactly the same blank screen. I also attempted install of the older arch version, which went ok until post-installation reboot, following which I ended up with the same blank screen - probably because during the installation the new kernel 3.10 was downloaded.
I read in the above topics that people solved the problem by downgrading the kernel - somehow via chrooting from live arch usb. I lack knowledge on how to perform the kernel downgrade - perhaps someone can give instructions or at least tips how to get started.
Interestingly, the same kernel 3.10 upgrade did not cause problems on a very similar predecessor model ASUS us21e - this info may help the advanced guys to diagnose the source of the problem.

Thanks, andrekp, but it didn't work on my UX21A.
Here's what I did (screen stays black all throughout):
    1. Boot the computer. I believe this takes me to login promt at tty1.
    2. I login by blindly entering userid, <enter>, password, <enter>
    3. speaker-test <enter> - I hear noise. Ctl+c to get out (noise stops).
    4. Switch to tty2 by pressing ctl+alt+f2.
    5. In tty2, I login by blindly entering userid, <enter>, password, <enter>; then speaker-test successful on tty2.
    6. Switch back to tty1 by pressing ctl+alt+f1; speaker-test successful again on tty1.
    7. Type startx. I assume that X and openbox are started successfully: I start lxterminal by pressing my custom short-cut keys combo that I specified in openbox's rc.xml; and speaker-test gives me audible noise from within lxterminal.
Again, screen stayed dark as night all the time, so the problem remains.
As my time allows, I try to come up to speed and follow/replicate the attempts to identify/resolve this problem made by more advanced guys in other topics:
    https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=167411

The problem originally arose at # pacman -Syu, which included kernel upgrade from 3.9.9 to 10.3.3. After a later upgrade to 10.3.5, the problem remains. I've enabled 'testing' repositories on my other laptop, UX21E (which doesn't have this problem despite being the closest model!) - and I wait for the new 'testing' kernel to be released in arch, hoping to do a blind upgrade on UX21A and that it solves the problem. I also monitor https://www.kernel.org for when kernel 3.11 becomes available. If I manage to install kernel 3.11 even before it's released in arch-testing, maybe the problem will be gone...
In the mean time, I keep using the UX21A computer having installed Lubuntu on another partition (it has kernel 3.8).
    Thanks again!

  • ITunes preferences opens with blank screen, HELP!

Alright so I was getting bored of the Windows Media Player interface, so I decided to go back to iTunes.
The installation went fine, but when I wanted to change my options/Preferences, it comes up with this weird blank screen.
    http://img40.imageshack.us/img40/3057/waaw.jpg
I've searched on google and only found 1 thread about this with no answers. So I decided to come and ask here.
So I would REALLY appreciate some help because I've always liked iTunes better than WMP.

What version of iTunes do you have installed? Do you have any iTunes plugins?
Troubleshooting issues with 3rd-party iTunes add-ons
If you create a new Windows Vista user, and log in to that user, do you still have the same problem?

  • Itunes app brings up blank screen then closes

Has anyone had the problem that when you open up itunes on your phone that you get a blank screen and then it closes?

Ok.. Try to do an archive and install while retaining your home folder, user settings and files. This will install a fresh new Leopard on your system. Then, delete previous system folder(this was your bad system). It sounds like something to do with the Leopard config files or something.
But, try an archive and install and then report back.

  • Update and blank screen problem

Hi I recently was having the problem were my 8800 would get a blank screen and the red led would blink and the phone would not turn on. I pulled the battery and let it sit and it started to work again. After experiencing this I decided to connect my phone and back it up and try to update the software. I downloaded the bbdm and started to update my phone. I get to the point in the update " loading system software"  Gets about half way though and stops completely. I let the phone sit for 2 hours and hasnt made any progress. I then disconnected it and re connected it and tried the update again. Same problem doesnt make it past loading system software. Im really at a lost. any ideas??? thanks

I recently had the same issue when I upgraded to the 4.5 OS.  Blackberry had me pull the battery and run the loader.exe program.  It solved my problem.  You have to keep the battery out until it asks to initialize.
    I hope this helps

  • Itunes store white screen problem

Do i have to update anything on my itunes account or do i just wait for my lucky day for the itunes store to appear? i have been trying for over a week now.
    please help

MIght be an extension or plugin ...
From your Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Extensions tab. If you have any installed, turn that off, quit then relaunch Safari to test.
If it's not an extension, back to Safari> Preferences, select the Security tab. Deslect:  Enable plug-ins
Quit then relaunch Safari to test. If that helped, you need to troubleshoot Safari add ons > Safari: Unsupported third-party add-ons may cause Safari to unexpectedly quit or have performance issues

  • Blank Screen Problem I've Never Seen Before

My ipod video is doing this funky thing...
I tried updating its software on my ibook and ever since then:
    1. the screen is white (but lit) and always stays lit until the battery runs out
    2. it lights up when charging and wont turn off (but still no image on the screen)
    3. i tried to reset using the "menu + select" buttons, but it just beeps three times and turns into another blank white screen
    4. when i plug it into my laptop, it doesnt appear in itunes or the finder, so i can't even restore it.
is this a defect of some sort that can be fixed on my own, or does it have to be sent in for a repair?

  • Ti4400 Blank screen problems

    Help...
I have an MSI Ti4400 which works superbly well 99.9% of the time, just occurs when I am normally at a very difficult stage in a game, i.e. battling the end-level baddy :P
Sometimes my monitor 'blanks' out for a second and then comes back on, this happens intermittently after windows has booted up but always just after windows starts (I think when it loads the task bar applet)....
This occured under Win 98 SE and now under XP Professional, I have upgraded the drivers to the latest versions. Oh and I have recently changed my mobo (to an MSI one) and case and power supply ( behaviour occured on the old mobo, case and PSU).
I have a ProView flat screen monitor, don;t know if this behaviour occurs with a CRT as I don't have one handy to try.
I believe it may be something to do with the card but have not seen any similar issues in this group, anyone got any suggestions???  ?(

    Bob,
It is definately worth a go trying different drivers. I have tried all detonator drivers from 29 - 41s - unfortunately all with the same result, but I have read in another forum that this solved someone elses issues - I suspect however that they were slightly different from ours.
I think you are right about the PSU - I had to try it as I had nothing else to try, and as you can see from the thread, it didn't make any difference!
Have you noticed whether your monitor blanks when there are dark colours on the screen? I have had to change the colour of my desktop from dark to light blue otherwise it just blanks and doesnt return until I try and get some other window on the box.
A few things that seem to improve the blanking rate marginally on my system are:
    1) changing refresh rate to adapter default
    2) unlicking refresh on resume checkbox under monitor properties
    3) changing from 'software control' to 'general timing formula' under Nvidia display properties tab -  (available if you have the newer drivers installed)
[not sure of the exact details without sitting in front of the pc]
I hope some of this info helps further,
    cheers Howie

  • TS3274 my ipad will not download any apps and if I press some apps I already have (ibooks or itunes) I get a blank screen

my ipad will not download any apps and if I press some apps I already have I just get a blank screen

Try and closing the app (app store in this case) and switch it back on and then download. If it still doesn't work, then give the IPad a rest and try again later.

  • Alu iMac stuck in SLEEP / Blank screen problem! Please Help!

I have a 24" 2.4GHz Alu iMac. I usually sleep my computer quite often at night instead of a full shutdown (although I make sure I shutdown completely a couple of times a week).
Recently I have gone to wake my iMac up in the morning only to get no response from keyboard / mouse. Upon a closer look I have realized that the imac is actually awake as I can hear the fans running, so it has woken by itself at some point during the night even though there is nothing on screen and no response to keyboard/mouse. I have then had to force it to shut down, something I hate having to do.
I've verified and repaired disk permissions, verified and repaired disk, reset the SMC, all without any change. There are external drives plugged in to firewire ports but none of these are on when problem happens. I have tried unplugging the drives when the imac is not responsive but it still fails to "wake". Although I have a wireless keyboard and mouse, they have full battery power and during short periods of sleep wake the imac up with no problems, it seems it's the long overnight periods that causes the problem. Is the time of night a factor perhaps? I herd something about imacs doing automatic maintenance at 4 in the morning or something? As I said before I have always slept my imac for long periods without problems, this is a recent thing the happened suddenly, perhaps coinciding with an update, I'm not sure.
I have created a new post as I am sure the iMac is not technically "sleeping" at the point of no response, so I don't want to it to get confused with potentially another issue of imacs not waking from sleep (although some of the people experiencing sleep problems may have imacs doing what mine is without realizing!).
Has anyone else experienced the above?
    Thanks guys.

    HI Joey,
    Try resetting the PRAM/VRAM. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1379
*"Is the time of night a factor perhaps? I herd something about imacs doing automatic maintenance at 4 in the morning or something? "*
Yes, your iMac if turned on will run "cron" tasks (maintenance), but it can run while the computer is sleeping. Here's the schedule for it. *"These tasks are scheduled for 03:15 to 05:30 in your computer's local time zone. "* More info here. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2319?viewlocale=en_US
Check System Preferences/EnergySaver and click the Sleep tab. Click the Schedule tab and make sure you don't have a startup / wake scheduled.
*"Although I have a wireless keyboard and mouse, they have full battery power and during short periods of sleep wake the imac up with no problems,"*
Check System Preferences/Bluetooth. Click the Advanced tab. Do you have the; Allow Bluetooth devices to wake this computer selected?
Check System Preferences/Security and click the General tab. Do you have the; Require password to wake this computer from sleep or screen saver selected?

  • Black Screen Problem SOLVED

I thought I would relate my sad tale, as maybe some of you may benefit from my painful experience.
Trying to instal XP Pro under boot camp on a 2007 Mini
I recently did this on another identical machine, and that went without a hitch, so I know it can work.
What happened on this ooccasion was that at various stages in the installation process I would get a black screen. Sometimes it would be right at the time the computer booted off the CD, sometimes not until I had completeted the install. But I must have gone through the whole format the disc / install OS X / use boot camp assistant / install XP cycle maybe 20 times, with a black screen every time, and was getting SICK of it!
Then it dawned one...try a different monitor....and it worked.
What was happeing was that Windoze was mis-identifying my monitor and setting the display resolution too high, so the monitor couldn't display the image. Shame there wasn't an "out of range" signal, but nevertheless it's window's fault for setting the resolution stupidly high.
So I used the other monitor to tinker with the display settings in windows, to get it right for the monitor that i really wanted to use.
So - sorted, easy if you know what's going on, total pain if you don't...........
