ITunes 10.5.1 (42) won't play certain purchased songs

A number of purchased songs will not play at all. The same is true on my iPod Touch. The posts I find for this problem are from 2008 and 2009-- not helpful.

Ok so, now apparently, when I close out of itunes and re open it, the album artwork is there now.  Weird.

    Title says it all, other day updated to 7.0.3.  Sync wouldn't update the 3 new cd's I had added and furthermore, those artists that the cd's belonged to wouldn't play.  Meaning any previous song by those artists on my phone also wouldn't play.
    7.0.4 fixed nothing infact it just straight up removed all my non-purchased songs off my phone.  iTunes claims there's 1,000 songs on my iPhone but only the 200ish I've purchased show up.  If I go to "on this phone" it shows nearly every song with a grey circle next to it.
    This is ridiculous.

    Forgot to add also, all the purchased songs on my phone have the cloud/download button so technically they aren't even there either.  Would have to go through and download all of those as well.
    iTunes keeps just randomly changing how much space is available.  It goes from what it should be (2.5ish GB) down to 8 GB free, all of a sudden will jump to only 500 MB free.  Dunno if that is screwing with the Sync, phone things it has no room to add the songs.

    I followed all the steps on the apple page, and just a few of the songs I just purchased cannot be authorized for some reason.  It keeps prompting me, and I keep entering my password and it says this computer is already authorized.  ARG! 
    Weirdly, when I look at the info of the songs, some list my name as "Purchased by", but the songs I can't play don't have a "Purchased By" line, but all songs show the correct "Account Name"

    They were purchased by another Apple ID.
    If you are not sure what other Apple IDs you may have, go to appleid.apple.com and click on the link that says "Find your Apple ID".
    You are needing to authorize the Apple ID that those other songs were purchased under.

    Try delete those songs using iTunes by de-selecting and sync. After that mark those songs and sync again.

    I rented a movie through iTunes and it downloaded but won't play. It is present in the videos app but doesn't load the picture for the movie. When I go to play it, it just opens and then closes. There is an iCloud icon that suggests the movie has not Been downloaded and when I click it it says that the movie has already been rented but not downloaded and that I need to go to downloads to manage it. It is not present in my iTunes download page however. And when I go to rent it again all I get is a watch button that directs me back to the videos app with no way to watch it.

    If you are not able to play or download a movie rental on your iPad, first restart your device:
    Restarting your device
    Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red "slide to power off" slider appears, and then slide the slider.
    Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.
    Note: Reset your device only if you are unable to restart it.
    Resetting your device
    Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

    Except for the first shuffle model, the shuffle connects to the computer using the headphones jack, so there is no way to play it when it is connected to the computer.  I guess maybe I don't understand the question...

    I'd report the problem to the iTunes Store. 
    Log in to the Store. Click on "Account" in your Quick Links. When you're in your Account information screen, go down to Purchase History and click "See all".
    Find the item that is not playing properly. If you can't see "Report a Problem" next to the item, click the "Report a problem" button. Now click the "Report a Problem" link next to the item.

    Select one of those files, CMD+I, select QT 7 from the Open With list, and then click the Change All button. Repeat for any in the format class you want to change.

  • Qosmio G50 won't play certain disks

    Recently my dvd drive in my Qosmio G50 won't play certain disks.
    You can hear it attempting to then suddenly stopping and starting again. Others work fine but some just wont play.
    I try them in other computers and it plays fine. So its not the disks.

    This is nothing unusual and happens to all possible CD/DVD drives
    I made the same experience with my CD/DVD drive.
    What you could do is to check if an firmware update for your CD/DVD drive is available.
    For that you should check the Toshiba European driver page the Qosmio G50 driver area.
    Please check more info for details about supported CD/DVD drives
    Otherwise I recommend using and testing different disks from different manufacturers.
    My CD/DVD drive supports TDK and Verbatim but dont read other disks from other no-name manufacturer

    Make sure that yo have the boxed chanced to only sync the checked music. It appears that it is trying to sync ore than those.
    You can try unsycing all music and resyncing.

    1) Copy all music files to a thumb drive / external hard drive.
    2) Open iTunes on your MacBook Pro (congrats!)
    3) Under the File Menu, select "Add to Library."  Navigate to the folder with your music in it and click "Open."  Bam!  Music.

    You may need to update to iTunes 10.7, which would require OS X 10.6.8.
    But you can first try to reboot your computer and router/modem

  • Some of my songs in iTunes show up but they won't play. I get the message that my computer isn't authorized to play them when I only have one computer.

    I recently did the update for iTunes and after I did that I got the error message: MSVCR80.dll file not found.  I followed the suggestions from someone in this community to fix it and now some of my songs aren't playing.  And they are the ones that I purchased from iTunes not CDs that I have and ripped to my iTunes library. I can see the songs listed in my iTunes library as well as on my iPod but yet they won't play.  On my computer I get the message that this computer is unauthorized to play them and to authorize it.  I only have one computer, so I have no idea why I'm getting this message.  And does anyone have any suggestions as to how to get all of the iTunes songs to play again?

    It sounds like you have some songs in your library that are not playing, and when you try to play them you are being told the computer is not authorized to play them. I would start by verifying that your computer is still authorized, and take note of the Apple ID that you sign in with:
    To authorize a computer, follow these steps:
    Open iTunes.
    Choose Store > Authorize This Computer from the menu bar.
    You may need to show the menu bar to see this option in Windows. In earlier versions of iTunes, you can access this option from the Advanced menu.
    Enter your Apple ID and click Authorize.
    If your Apple ID uses an expired MobileMe account, you can still authorize your computer.

    If the issue persists, next I would use the following article to double check that these songs were purchased under the same Apple ID you used to authorize the computer:

    Open iTunes
    Highlight one of the items you have purchased (You can find your purchases in your Purchases playlist).
    Choose File > Get Info.
    Click the Summary tab.
    The Account Name area will list the account used to purchase the item. Unless you have changed accounts, this is your iTunes Store account name.
    If it is the same Apple ID then I would next delete the song, and re download it from your purchased history, with this article named:

  • ITunes shows added music but won't play

    Hi,
    I recently started having problems with newly added mp3's to my iTunes library.  iTunes appears to have added the song to my library, as it shows up in the recently added playlists and music tab, however when I click to play the song, it skips to the last song that was successfully added.  The issue is not limited to just a single mp3, it's won't allow me to properly add any new music at all now.  I checked for software updates, and I'm running the latest version.  I have also restarted iTunes, my Macbook Air and attempted adding new music with iTunes Match turned off without any success.  Anyone else experiencing this problem?

    I bought my wife a iPod Nano. It was sent back to Apple. I visited Aplle Store Genius' multiple times, and even got it exchanged, giving up the oringinal engraved one. Yes, it has the problem of not playing purchased Itunes songs, but it will work for while, then start skipping those purchased songs, then for no reason, starts working again! No one has any idea what to do. It has to be something with the software since this is Nano #2. I've tried everything that has been recommended. The fact that it is intermittant is the bigget mystery of all. I just turned it on and its working. When we try it later, it may not. Any ideas that any one has will be appreciated. Thanks
