ITunes 10.5.2.11 Unstable in Win7-64

The latest version of iTunes (10.5.2.11) is unstable in Windows 7, 64-bit. That is, If I close it, I cannot start it again without rebooting (very bad). Any tips? Or just live with it until another update?

OK, the re-install did not work.
Am I the only one noticing this?
Probably... I've not seen any other threads reporting this issue.

Search the forums and find out.

Not responding to the forums?  Yes... this is a user to user forum.
iTunes issues?  All software has issues.
It's possible that there is an iTunes issue creating the problems you report.  It's possible there is a Windows issue causing the problem.
Does your system have all the current Windows updates installed?

Any other suggestions out there folks?

On Oracle Metalink site, there are many documents which says that Oracle 32 bit software works on 32 bits OS and 64 bits software works on 64 bits OS. Official support is only in those combination....
So there is no good way to help you in your case-XE is 32 bit application with hard codded compiled libraries which most of them would not work on 64 bit OS.

  • How can I prevent iTunes 10.5.2.11 64bit on Win7 64bit hanging while "Accessing iTunes Store"

Recently iTunes has started to hang on open on my win7 64 bit system.  It attempts to access the itunes store before I can do anything else, and simply hangs.  I can't proceed past this point, so can't configue any options such as deauthorising then reauthorising the computer, for example.  I have completed some basic troubleshooting steps e.g. disable firewall software temporarily, confirm network access from this and other systems, remove and reinstall itunes, perform repair installations, etc. But to no avail.  It seeems to be a pretty common problem, with the commonly offered resolution of the deauth / auth I mention above.  Does anyone have a fix?  Or, is there a way to configure itunes preferences outside of itunes?  Perhaps I can deauth / auth there to see if it will resolve the issue?  (I can't deauthorise all my computers as I have recently performed this previously, i.e. inside the (three month) window0. I may have to call apple support for assistace to resolve this, but trying to avoid this as there is often a bit of a lag there.
    Thanks for reading.

If you are still having these type of problems after trying the winsock reset and are running any kind of net monitoring software like Bsecure, Net Nanny, AVG Family Safety, Safe Eyes, Covenant Eyes, Norton Online Security etc... I would suggest that you try uninstalling said software and reinstalling iTunes 10.5 to see if that corrects the issue.
Refer to article TS4123. Follow the step to identify which software in your system is the culprit and uninstall it.

    Symptoms
You may notice the following symptoms after installing iTunes 10.5 for Windows:
    iTunes is slow to respond
    Windows is slow to respond
iTunes stops responding when backing up or syncing with an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.
Some processes installed by iTunes are using up a lot of resources in the Windows Task Manager.
iTunes Store looks empty and white as shown below:
    Products Affected
iTunes Store, iTunes 10 for Windows
    Resolution
Look for modifications to Windows by:
Running MSINFO32 by choosing either Start > Run, or using the search box to search for
Once it is open, expand Components and then expand Network.
Click Protocol. The first value should look like this:
However, if you find a value that is more like this, it indicates that there's an LSP (Layered Service Provider) monitoring your computer:
"<LSP Info>" is variable and may specifically mention a software suite, or appear to be a meaningless acronym
Scroll through the list on the right and look for any LSPs that have been installed by third-party software. By default, the Windows OS will have 10 values:
    MSAFD Tcpip [TCP/IP]
    MSAFD Tcpip [UDP/IP]
    RSVP UDP Service Provider
    RSVP TCP Service Provider
    MSAFD NetBIOS [\Device\NetBT_Tcpip...
The value above repeated 5 times with additional variables at the end
Note:811259.Once you've identified the third-party LSPs, determine which software placed them there. Here is a partial list of LSPs you might run into and the software that may have placed it there:

Once you've identified the third-party software that installed the LSP, you can remove that software. If the software is your security software, see iTunes: Troubleshooting security software issues for additional information.
    Note:locate vendor information
    Reset the WinSock key
If you are unable to identify the software that installed the LSP, you are unable to remove this software because it performs an important function for you, or you've removed this software and the issue persists, you may wish to reset the WinSock key.
To do so, please do the following in an administrator user:
    Windows Vista and Windows 7:
    Windows XP:Enter the following command:
    netsh winsock reset
Restart the computer and test the issue.
Note: If the issue returns, third-party software may be reinserting the LSP.

  • ITunes 10.7 update kills wifi on Win7

I've fixed a problem I was having and hope that maybe this thread helps someone else having a similar issue.
My computer has Win7 with all the updates as I do updates religiously as soon as I'm notified there's something to install.
My wifi connection stopped working after each attempt to update iTunes 10.6 to 10.7. The issue took me several days to finally figure out how to fix the problem. Let me re-state that sentence. My problem is fixed and I know what I did that fixed it, but I don't know if the problem itself came from a software program called Audials One 9 interfering with iTunes but my fix makes it seem like that's the case. So here goes.
I've been using iTunes for many years now and I learned about Audials One 9 several months ago. I purchased and installed Audials One 9 and although I wasn't enamored with it, I left it installed and until now, I completely forgot about it.
Several weeks ago when iTunes 10.7 was released, I attempted updating iTunes it from 10.6 and multiple times, the upgrade was unsuccessful. During the upgrade process, my wifi connection to the internet would stop working so for the first time ever, I had to learn how to use Windows Restore Point. Thankfully, that feature works quite well.  (One installation attempt actually resulted in the BSOD - blue screen of death!)
The issues I was having during the iTunes upgrade, disabled Wifi connectivity to the Internet. I could see my router from my computer, but I couldn't get an internet connection.  I tried my Wifi hotspot just to see if it was a router issue and I saw the same problem so I basically confirmed the router was fine and I didn't have to go through an inconvenient power-down and re-set of the router.
I decided to uninstall iTunes and since I know that the uninstallation process can also get botched up, I went to the Apple site to find the iTunes uninstall instructions to verify what I needed to uninstall. It turns out, there is a sequence for unstalling the entire iTunes suite. I'm not sure what to call it, but you can find the list here:  http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1925 and a better explanation than what I'm writing.
During the installation process, I stumbled upon another link on the Apple site that indicated that iTunes might not be the only culprit to the Wifi connectivity issue on the Apple site. You can find that information here:  http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1717 http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1717 for 'iTunes for Win Vista or Win 7: Troubleshooting unexpected quits, freezes, or launch issues'. Information found on this second Apple support link explains how to get iTunes to go into Safe Mode so you can troubleshoot any interference caused by plug-ins or scripts not manufactured by Apple. I almost skipped reading this section but thankfully I did not. Reading this section triggered me remembering that I had purchased Audials and that I had also used Rinse to help fix missing artwork. I had since uninstalled Rinse many months ago because it completely messed up my artwork and I had to spend almost 2 days fixing the errors that program caused, but, I hadn't uninstalled Audials so I proceeded to uninstall Audials along with uninstalling iTunes 10.6.
Next, I went ahead and installed Windows Updates as I always keep my machine up to date with Windows Updates but since I had used Restore Point earlier in the day, I had a few updates I had to install to get back up to date on Windows updates. The Update session generated a new Restore Point which I was thankful for since Wifi was working like it should.
After the reboot which follows at the end of the Windows Update process, I downloaded iTunes 10.7 and installed it. All the while, crossing my fingers and holding my breath. I have a lot of purchases through iTunes that have accumulated over the years and I was at wits end with this issue already but, GREAT NEWS! The iTunes 7 installation went flawlessly. As soon as I opened iTunes, my library was in tact, all artwork was as it should be and the iTunes Store log-in worked fine too.
I post this information here because of the potential that someone in the user community finds this thread helpful.

"The feature that you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable. Click OK to try again or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package \iTunes.msi in the box below."
    (1) Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility installer file (msicuu2.exe) from the following Major Geeks page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):
    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
    (2) Doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file and follow the prompts to install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (If you're on a Windows Vista or Windows 7 system and you get a Code 800A0046 error message when doubleclicking the msicuu2.exe file, try instead right-clicking on the msicuu2.exe file and selecting "Run as administrator".)
    (3) In your Start menu click All Programs and then click Windows Install Clean Up. The Windows Installer CleanUp utility window appears, listing software that is currently installed on your computer.
    (4) In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
    (5) Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

    Hi,
I am unable to connect to the store on iTunes 10.6.7.1 on Win7 64 bit.  From my iPhone I can connect to the store.  Any thoughts?

Could you walk us through what happens (when you attempt to connect to the store on the PC) in some more detail, please?

  • Itunes does not recognise ipad 2 with win7 64 bit but the computer recognises the ipad 2 as a camera. Works OK with win7 32 bit.

I have tried to sync both ipod and ipad2 (new) with itunes running on win 7 64 bit. I have all latest versions installed on all machines.
The ipod and ipad are just not recognised in itunes.
I have an old win7 32 bit system on the same machine and everything works perfectly.
    Any ideas welcome.

This was the answer to all my problems, once i updated the drivers all good! My iPad kept insisting I didnt have the 64bit itunes (which i did) and when I checked the files I was supposed to have as per the link instructions, I had none of them. Disappointed I had to turn to some random files off a blog rather than having apple actually provide useful help. As long as they are making money though :Z

  • RoboHelp 10 is very unstable under Win7

    Hi all,
using RH 10 under Win7 I noticed that the program is extremely unstable. It often crashes with only a very simple error message, telling that is searching for a solution but it never find one. Also the Windows Explorer crashes 10-20 times a day when working with RH. This is definitely linked to instaling the TCS4 on this system, and I have only been using RH and RSC yet.
Is thete anybody else with this issue, particularly the Explorer crash?
I found an older thread stating that RSC made Windows Explorer crash but this was related to RH7. Also there was no solution beyond deinstalling it.
    Regards,
    Robert

    Hi,
I've been using RH10 since the beta builds on several computers, virtual machines and operating systems. I have not experienced any of the problems you encounter. I did, however, not use RSC. So that would point to RSC being the problem.
Do you use a 32-bit system or a 64-bit system? And do you have the same configuration on an XP machine?
    Greet,
    Willam

  • ITunes 9.1 was very unstable until...

Prior to 9.1 iTunes was rock solid. afterwards it was seriously unstable. Sometimes it opened then crashed, sometime i got to podcasts, hit play and worked fine until i moved to say Movies/ TV shows or Music then BOOM it crashed, always after ~15secs of SBOD.
iTunes 9.1 would restart with no apparent damage, however it was unusable.
I use Gridiron's Flow and after stopping that, iTunes worked perfectly as before. Although not a solution, it is a workaround.

Every version of iTunes ran pretty stable on my computer. It never crashes. In fact the only time it did was on an ancient XP computer that I had.

  • ITunes 10 - no external speakers on AirportExpress (Win7/64bit)

Since my update from iTunes 9 to iTunes 10 my AirPortExpress can't connect to the external speakers (Hifi-System)
    unknown error(-15000)
    http://yfrog.com/e9itunj
With iTunes 9 everything works fine. The only thing I changed was the iTunes update.
    Win7 ultimate 64 Bit
    iTunes 10.0.1.22
    AirPortExpress with Firmware 7.4.2

O.K. - I just got off the phone with Apple. For all you airport express users out there and Itunes 10.
The airport express needs to be reset. Remember the fun we had setting it up - well here we go again.
For those of you who do everything remotely like me, computer (macbookpro) here, airport express there (plugged into kitchen speakers on top of cabinets), internet router/wireless there ....
    1. Unplug the airport express and your computer.
    2. Go to where your wireless router is and sit near it.
    3. Plug your computer - with wired plug into an outlet [not sure if necessary but I did it this way, powered up]
    4. Replug in your airport express near the computer/router as well.
    5. Press (w/pen or paperclip) the little reset button on the bottom of the AirPort and HOLD UNTIL THE LIGHT FLASHES GOLD and then let go.
    6. go into your Utility folder in Finder and open the Airport Express utility
    7. it will see it then and you need to go through the same process as you did when setting it up in the first place. Naming it, blah, blah blah.
I did all of this and confirmed that my speakers worked! I did suggest to the guy, John, that Apple needs to post something so every frustrated user could fix this problem.
    Best of luck all

  • ITunes 10.6.1.7 unstable

After upgrading to iTunes 10.6.1.7, I'm experience 2 new issues:
iTunes periodically crashes, generating a Windows error report and has to be restarted.  This appears random as I'm not actually doing anything in iTunes when the crash occurs - it is just running in the background.  It is possible that it is related to Home Sharing as another computer and Apple TVs access the shared library on this box.  This is running on Windows 7 64-bit.
The second issue is that Apple TVs are sometimes unable to access the shared library.  This seems to be fixed temporarily by restarting iTunes.
I'm not necessarily looking for help as nothing has changed on the computer and these probllems just cropped up, so I think it is probably an issue in iTunes itself.  Just wanted to report the problem.

You can report the issue directly to Apple if you like. (We're a user-to-user community, so there's no guarantee that an Apple person will see your report here.) Here's a link to the iTunes product feedback form:

  • ITunes 7.4.1.2 Unstable on Windows XP x64

I know Apple doesn't support 64-bit versions of Windows. But previous iTunes versions were at least stable so that I could run the application and use it with the iTunes store and my iPod.
This version actually stops cold in the middle of playing a library tune, and has crashed a few times. It also warns me that it isn't fully installed, and so CD import and burning will not be supported. The "not supported" was also true in earlier versions because of the x64 operating system, but this version pops up an annoying warning every time I launch iTunes.
I tried uninstalling and then installing an earlier version. The earlier version of iTunes then said it couldn't open the library, which had been created by a newer version of iTunes. And then the earlier version closed.
I'll try uninstalling 7.4.1.2 and reinstalling an earlier version, and then deleting and rebuilding the library.
So surprised that Apple doesn't support a 64-bit Windows OS.
Also a little surprised Apple wouldn't warn customers about the possible downside of taking the next software version.

Same thing happened to me. Did the 7.4 update last night. Seemed to go ok. The update wanted a restart to finish the update. But then Vista wouldn't come back up. Finally after several restart attempts Vista went into a recover mode and fixed itself, which I would imagine took off the update and put files back the way they were before the update. All fine again. Tonight I get the 7.4 update popup again. No way! Not until I hear something about this. Scared the living out of me last night. Hope somebody knows something about this.

  • ITunes can't see iphone connected to Win7 PC

Computer sees iphone fine. iTunes doesn't. I've tried all the recommendations suggested thru Help, but no joy. Unable to sync any music or tones. Tried to return the phone today, but it's been longer than 15 days since I purchased it.

Yeah, I called Apple. Seems they want me to buy another iphone & service so they can troubleshoot this one. Not very impressive.
However, uninstalled & reinstalled itunes. No joy. Plugged phone back in for about the 6th time and JOY!
Have no idea what solved the problem.
