ITunes (10.5.3) freezes after restart of iTunes

Hey there,
hope anyone can help me!
I got the following problem..
When I start my PC (Windows 7, 64 bit) it's no problem to start iTunes and to work with it..
When I close it later, and want to start it again, nothing happens, even when I kill the process in the task manager and try to start it again, the GUI appears, but I can't click anywhere.. it freezes..
I already reinstalled everything.. still the same ****.. -.-
Any suggestions!?

I'm having a similar issue, as iTunes crashes/freezes when I close it and have tried all suggestions to resolve the issue, without success. There seems to be so many bugs in this latest version! Hopfully the next version will resolve a lot of these problems.

The results show that you have a proxy server set and this can often cause problems with iTunes.
The proxy setting can be accessed in Internet options>>Connections>>LAN Settings.
Try un-checking the proxy server check box.
It might also be a good idea to run a malware check if you didn't know you had the proxy server set.
You can download a free version of an excellent scanner- Malwarebytes here:

  • Itunes 12.1.1 freezes after I eject my ipod

I recently updated iTunes to 12.1.1 and now every time I hit the eject button for my iPod, iTunes freezes.  The iPod is fine and goes back to its home screen, it's just iTunes itself that is giving me trouble. Any help is greatly appreciated!

    Good Morning xtina592,
I understand iTunes for Windows becomes unresponsive when you eject your iPod.    Which iPod do you have?  The resource below provides some steps to try to resolve this issue.  I've highlighted the key information here for you.  Click on the article for complete details.
iTunes: May become unresponsive when connecting iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support
    https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT203356
In rare instances, iTunes may become unresponsive when connecting an iPhone, iPad or iPod touch to your computer. iTunes may become responsive again after you disconnect the device from the computer.
    1.  Install any available software updates for your computer.
For Windows: Refer to the documentation for your computer for instructions on using Windows Update to update your computer.
    2.  Update iTunes to the latest version.
For Windows: Use Apple Software Update for Windows or download iTunes from the Apple website.
    3.  Test with automatic syncing disabled.
For Windows: Click the Edit menu and choose Preferences. Click the Devices tab and place a check next to option to "Prevent iPods, iPhones and iPads from syncing automatically." Click OK.
Reconnect your device and test to see if the issue still occurs. If your device is recognized successfully, you may be able to isolate which type of data is causing the issue. Do this by deselecting all syncing options under each of the syncing tabs and then sync. After that, re-enable your sync options one at a time until the issue returns.
If the issue only occurs when syncing data from the Info tab is enabled (For example: Contact, Calendar, Mail account or Bookmark syncing), reset Sync History on Windows.
    4.  Check your device for podcasts. If there are any podcasts, manually delete all podcast episodes from the device by sliding your finger across the podcast episode's name and tapping Delete. Once all podcasts are removed from your device, reconnect it to the computer, open iTunes, and test.
    5.  If possible, test to see if connecting your device to a different computer with the latest version of iTunes installed resolves the issue.
    6.  Test with iTunes plug-ins removed.
    Quit iTunes.
Navigate to the following folder, based on your operating system:
    Windows XP:
    C:\Documents and Settings\[username]\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes\iTunes Plug-ins
    Windows Vista or Windows 7:
    C:\Users\[username]\App Data\Roaming\Apple Computer\iTunes\iTunes Plug-ins
If any files are in this folder, move them to the Desktop temporarily.
Open iTunes and test to see if the issue is resolved. If so, you may leave these iTunes plug-ins removed. If you wish to re-use these iTunes plug-ins, consult the vendor for the iTunes plug-ins to see if any updates are available.
I hope this information helps ....
    - Judy

  • I am unable to download itunes to my pc even after removing all itunes components

i am unable to download itunes to my pc even after i have removed all previous components of itunes

when i try to download itunes  i get a message that says thanks for downloading itunes. But it does so instantly and there is no download for me to install
I'd first try downloading an installer from the Apple website using a different web browser:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
If you use Firefox instead of IE for the download (or vice versa), do you get a working installer?

  • ITunes store won't load after upgrading to iTunes 9

Ever since I upgraded my iTunes to the new iTunes 9, I can't get iTunes store to load. I've gone through the troubleshooting, and even ran a repair iTunes and then uninstalled and re-installed the iTunes. Nothing has worked. It only loads part way with just blue boxes with ? marks in them and names of songs/artists. Plain white background and none of the links that do show go anywhere. I get this message when I try to click on a link: We could not complete your iTunes Store request. An unknown error occurred (306). There was an error in the iTunes store. Please try again later.

My daughter has iTunes 8.2.0.23 on her laptop and she could sign in with her own id and my id - so obviously there is a problem with version 9
I've uninstalled iTunes 9 and Apple Mobile Device Support thru Add/Remove programs
    Installed iTunes 8.2.1.6
Removed library file made in version 9
Opened iTunes 8.2.1.6 and successfully signed into iTunes Store
Still cannot get onto iTunes via a Touch or 2 iPhones!!!
Added all my music back onto iTunes and it is working PERFECTLY
WON'T be upgrading to version 9
    Hope this helps

  • Itunes 11.0.1 freezes after start up

hi, just downloaded 11.0.1 onto windows vista operating system laptop, previous version of itunes was fine. new version just freezes on both mine and my wife's computer after about 10 seconds after opening itunes. my music library is visible, but it just freezes if you try to select anything. not sure why the new version would not work when it all worked fine before...no changes made to any settings on either machine, so I'm at a loss as to why this new update doesn't work...I have noticed a few other people having problems, so is this a known thing, or am I just going to have to bin it and use spotify..?!

Not sure what OS you are using on your computer, but I have XP (still, I know... nuts to have that old of an OS).
But I just upgraded to iTunes 11 today and it is taking FOREVER to sync to my 4th gen iPod Touch.  I thought it was strange that all the photos had to sync again.
At any rate, it may look at times like it isn't doing anything.  But I found out that when I went to the system settings in the iPod, and to the WiFi sync screen, I could see some progress.
I'm really not happy at all with this version of iTunes so far!!!

  • Trackpad freezes after restart and update

after every update i have done on my macbook pro (less than 6 moths old) after the restart it lets me enter my password then when i start using it the trackpad completely freezes with the arrow disapearing and randomly appearing again, the only way to get out of this is to power off and on again, any ideas why this keeps happening?

Well, I went through remvoval and moving in single user mode of everything I could think of that may cause the issue, then gave up.
The only solution I found that works perfectly requires another Mac and an extra empty drive.
You will have all your data, and a new clean Maverick install.
Plan on it taking about 10 hours.
Boot the problem mac in target mode (press t).
Connect the problem mac to a good 'booted' mac (firewire if possible).
Connect the extra drive to the good mac.
Download carbon copy clolner, and backup the problem mac to the extra drive.
Once done, try to boot the good Mac to the external drive (restart hold option), just to make sure its good... or actually,  bad and sticks at the same place.
Disconnect the bad mac and restart, holding option.
    Select the recovery drive.
    Open disk utility.
    Select the drive and erase.
    Quit disk utility.
Run Reinstall Maverick selection (you have to be connected to the internet). You'll have to login with your apple id.
Install Maverick. It may do a start and stop as it realizes it needs to be a clean install.
When it installx, and you get to the language screen, click through.
When it asks about transferring, then plug in the external dirve (the clone).
    Select Transfer from another Mac.
Select the external drive, migrate all check boxes and wait.
Once completed with the migration, you'll have a Maverick OS on your old Mac.
What a pain. I can only assume that someone at Apple clocked their nap time as recursive testing hours. I guess Apple needs to install security cameras in its testing labs :-)

  • Powerbook g4 freezing after restart while using install and restore cd

i want to restore my powerbook to the original settings. i insert the install and restore cd that came with my computer and after i click the install mac os x icon, the computer prompts to restart. when the computer starts to restart, it freezes and won't read from the disc. it just continues to give the message you need to restart your computer.
anyone have any suggestions or help in this matter.
    thanks,

if PowerBook crashes like that when booted from original install CD, it is likely hardware problem.
try removing extra RAM, pull out AirPort card, reset PRAM
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=14449
and make sure CD is not scratched/dirty.
if you have original CDs kit, there supposed to be hardware test CD included with it, boot from test CD, see what it says.

  • Freezing after restart

Hello all, I would really appreciate any help I can get on this.
About 80% of the time, when I restart my computer (2011 iMac 10.7.2) it freezes at the login screen.  The cursor flashes but the keyboard is not responsive, nor is the trackpad.  Ironically, the mouse does work but none of the on screen menu items are responsive (restart, shutdown, etc).
The only thing I can do is hold down the power button and hard shut it down.  That almost alwasy fixes the problem, but yesterday I had to hard shut it down twice to get it to work.  After I upgraded to 10.7.2 it seemed to fix the issue for a while, but now its back to doing it again.
    Please help!

Try rebooting into the Recovery HD (part of Lion) to run some checks/repairs. Restart holding down Command+R and when it boots select Disk Utility and when it launches click on the disk at the top left of the window (above Macintsoh HD) and verify. Check that it says S.M.A.R.T. Status is verified. Then select Macintosh HD and verify that, if it throws up any errors click on repair, repeat until you get a clean pass then reboot as normal from the Apple menu.

  • Information in ical, itune, widgets,... lost after restart

All of sudden, when I restarted my computer, (which of course I have done millions of times) the information in my ical, (all in my itune)got lost. Nothing, the scheduled tasks, the playlists, etc are all gone. However, my addressbook, sticky notes seem intact.
Also, all my gadgets, mail setup, are gone. It is like back to the ``factory mode'' when it was fresh.
I am Powerbook G5, Mac OS X Tiger.
The only abnormality that I could recall is that when I turn the computer off, the "FileVault" process took a real long time. So i closed the lid, (which, I guess, put the Mac into sleeping mode). When I reopen the lid, it pops out the window for me to input pwd, etc. Then it gets shut down itself. When I restart it, everything is gone.
IS there anyway I could recover those informations that I have in my Ical??
Also, I tried turn the "FileVault" thing off, it tells me "
you need 4052 G of hard disk space to do this." Just so practically, I cannot turn off the FileVault thing EVER.
    Any idea? Thanks!

Is it possible to sync between my iPod Touch and my iMac if i DONT have MobileMe? Just tried it and it didnt seem to transfer dates from my Touch to my computer...

  • ITunes 11.1 keeps freezing after upgrading to iOS7

I upgraded my iPhone 5 to iOS7 yesterday and also downloaded iTunes 11.1. Now whenever I plug my iPhone into iTunes, it takes ages for it to recognise my iPhone and when it does it starts to back up and then freezes my entire iTunes.

Same exact thing but an iPhone 4. The second i unplug it, it returns to normal like nothing happened. Also, I found that even people with iOS 6 are having this issue so it's likely having to do with iTunes 11.1

  • ITunes 11.1.4 freezes after connecting iDevices

I'm using iTunes 11.1.4 on Windows 7 64-bit. When I connect iPhone 4 7.0.4 and iPad 4 7.0.4, iTunes freezes and I have to end the procces through task manager. Or if I disconnect the iDevices, iTunes just show a message that hte device was detected but it cannot be synced. Even when I click on Preferences in Edit menu when there is no iDevice connected to the computer, it freezes. I re-installed the iTunes and I tried to Repair it but there was no difference.

    Hi geraldfromfpo / xytarwest,,
i tried OtterStCatch suggestion and it worked straight way. thank you. I too was having an issue finding the view library option and here is how you do it.
    choose Home from the Finder’s Go menu (Go > Home);
Still in the Finder, choose View > Show View Options
Near the bottom of the resulting View-Options palette is a setting called Show Library Folder. Enable this option. Your Library folder is immediately visible.
    then follow OtterStCatch comments below.
    thanks

I have a VXIpc-872 Slot 0 Controller.  Unit will boot windows NT from Cold start, but performing a windows restart or following any BIOS modifications the controller freezes.  Only get a solid black screen.  Power OFF has been the only way to clear it.
Any thoughts on what might be wrong?

  • ATV / iTunes "drops" connection 20-30 seconds after restart of iTunes

Hmmm... This is odd. Just read thru 15 pages of this site. And im still puzzeled. I have two win xp machines - both laptops on wireless. The ATV is connected to the switch by cable. The ATV has full internet access (itunes, updates etc), the XP machines both run newest version of iTunes and Windows Firewall turned off. No third party security software or anything.
Its like, I start the iTunes, it see's the ATV. The configurations I have made, starts (which movies etc to sync) - and after 30-60 seconds the ATV just disappears from the component list. If Im quick to start streaming, I can actually watch a full feature film off the ATV but as soon as the stream stops - 30-60 seconds - all connectivity is lost.
    Tried various machines etc.
    IM GOING NUTS!
    Morgan

I bought an ATV a few days ago and I have this same problem. I believe, in my case, the problem is caused by my ATV sitting next to my Wii. When I disabled the wifi on the Wii the ATV connects fine. Something else I have found in the past with wireless is the it doesn't work and play well with coredless phones. 802.11b does not like 900 mhz phone and the 802.11g does not like the 2.4 ghz phones. I have a 2.4 ghz cordless and I have solved issues with it conflicting with wireless in the past by forcing it to channel 11. I will try this and let you know if it helps further. I am also wondering if I would be better off updating to a 802.11n.
This is from Wikipedia and may have some merrit:
Since the spectral mask only defines power output restrictions up to ± 22 MHz from the center frequency to be attenuated by 50 dB, it is often assumed that the energy of the channel extends no further than these limits. It is more correct to say that, given the separation between channels 1, 6, and 11, the signal on any channel should be sufficiently attenuated to minimally interfere with a transmitter on any other channel. Due to the near-far problem a transmitter can impact a receiver on a "non-overlapping" channel, but only if it is close to the victim receiver (within a meter) or operating above allowed power levels.
Although the statement that channels 1, 6, and 11 are "non-overlapping" is limited to a spacing or product density, the 1–6–11 guideline has merit. If transmitters are closer together than channels 1, 6, and 11 (for example, 1, 4, 7, and 10), overlap between the channels may cause unacceptable degradation of signal quality and throughput.[5]

  • Freezes after restart

I updated my 2009 MacBook Pro to Mavericks and on the final restart it freezes.  I've crashed it twice now and restarted again, but it makes no difference.  The same screen (light gray with a dark grey apple in the center) is frozen for hours.  I'm really at a loss for what to do.  I'm a freelance graphic designer and I need this computer to work.  Please someone help!
