ITunes 10.5 64bit on Win7 64bit, MS VC80.crt error!?

I am getting the following error when updating iTunes to 10.5:
http://riversnaps.com/misc/itunes.jpg
Anybody getting anything similar!?
Thanks!

I solved it, but you're not going to like it...
The problem is with Windows Update. A service pack got installed for a Visual C++ Redistributable which was NOT on the system. It kept failing without actually notifying me. When I looked at the installed programs, there was a Security Update for the Visual C++ 2008 redistributable which I did NOT have, but I had a Visual C++ 2005 redistributable, which I could now no longer remove or update.
Even after removing ALL C++ redists using various uninstallers and after numerous registry cleaners, the only solution was to backup my files and install from scratch.
This is NOT Apple's problem. It's a Windows Update which screws up your system and cannot be repaired by any means that numerous people have tried

  • When installing iTunes 10.5 64bit on my win7 64bit computer I get a weird error message.

This all started when one day I plugged in my iPhone 4 to my iTunes 10.4 on my PC (win7 64bit) and I got nothing. I got the connection noise and my phone started charging but it would not show up in iTunes. In My Computer, it sees that I have an iPhone plugged in but shows it as a Camera, not a phone, and I am not able to see anything inside said "camera". At this point I decided to clear everything "Apple" off of my computer and manually install iTunes 10.5. Mid download i came across this error message that I have no clue what it is telling me. After clicking "OK" it then tells me "rolling back session" and then tells me that "Apple Mobile Device failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services." Since getting this messag I suspected that it was an AMD (apple mobile device) issue. AMD seems to be IMPOSSIBLE to uninstall/delete from my computer... At this point I'm giving up and looking for advice/help on this issue.
Im lead to believe that it is an AMD issue because iTunes 10.4 reads my iPod Shuffle perfectly but wont read my iPhone 4 or a friends iPhone 3g.
Thanks in advance for taking the time to read this!! Any help would be greatly appreciated because I dont want to reformat

  • ITunes 10.5 64bit Windows 7 doesn't install - anyone else have the same problem

I have downloaded the update.  It says that it does not update and to do it manually.  I am installing each installer at a time.  It does not seem to like AppleMobileDeviceSupport64 and just gives me that an error has occurred.  It does this after a long wait at the end.  Anyone with the same problem?

Looks like there may be a solution on Itunes 10.5 64bit will not install on Win7. I am going to try that.

  • I got a problem on installing iTune-64bit on WIndows 7, error message says the folder "itunes" is on a locked disk or you do not have write permissions for this folder.

I got a problem on running the iTune 64bit on Windows 7, error message says " the folder "itunes" is on a locked disk or your do not have write permission for this folder.    Any one ran into this problem ?
    It worked before.

Open Disk Utility via Spotlight or in the Applications folder stored within the Utilities folder. Close all applications and 3rd party software and choose "Repair Disk Permissions." Reboot the computer when finished, and test to see if the issue is resolved.

  • Can't re-install iTunes on Windows7 64bit PC.

Can't re-install iTunes on Windows7 64bit PC. Tried uninstalling Apple programs in correct order and starting again with new download but I can't install Apple App support which means iTunes won't work. May be something to do with microsoft visual c++ redistributable package x86 which I cannot repair.
    Help please!
    Thanks

A hint from another thread suggests that temporarily disabling the Windows Firewall may help with the installation of the C++ Redistributable components.
For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
The further information area has direct links to the current and recent builds in case you have problems downloading, need to revert to an older version or want to try the iTunes for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) release as a workaround for performance issues or compatibility with third party software.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.

I also have the same problem, but the Software Updates tool doesn't recognise that Quicktime is out of date. Have you tried downloading Quicktime 7.7 Leopard from http://support.apple.com/downloads/#quicktime as this worked for me...?

  • AMDS not installing when installing iTunes 10.5 64bit from scratch

Sorry for creating yet another thread on the 10.5 update, but I'm running out of options (and patience ) here.
I was happily running iTunes 10.4 64bit on Windows 7 ultimate when I saw that I had to update to 10.5 in order to install iOS5 on my iPhone 4.
I tried automatic and manual update, didn't work. So I went through the hoops, uninstalled everything Apple related in the correct order, and finally managed to install iTunes 10.5 64bit. Installation went seemingly smoothly, except that at some point the installer window said "rolling back", then went on with its business.
I started iTunes, and connected my iPhone. A message appeared saying something among the lines of "this device cannot be used because the required software is not installed" (I'm translating here, sorry). I then realized that Apple Mobile Device Support hadn't been installed. I tried installing it manually (extracting the installer from the itunes64setup), no dice. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes a dozen times, using iobit uninstaller or not, still no dice.
Is there something I didn't think of? Any bit of help would be much appreciated. Thanks for your time.

I've done it a couple times, Windows 7 Pro and even Windows 7 Preview, and it does install just fine.
Of course it could be your security suite - mine is MS Security Essentials on two PCs but also Kaspersky PURE on 3rd
AMS is or can get screwed or damaged which was why I went with a clean install in one case.
Once it showed yellow alert in Device Manger for iPod USB  deivce, and in Devices & Printers (control panel). Might be when I told Windows "always do xyz when it detects iPod" (which I now don't select any default action for.
To be sure the iPod will be detected, some people do it slightly different but basically:
before launch iTunes or connecting iPod -
Services: Restart AMS, Bonjour and iPod
    Launch iTunes
    Connect iPod
But once Device Manger complains, I could never get it 'fixed.'
Try a clean install on another partition of Windows for test.
Then if that works you can decide what to do. Backup, move, resize.
It took me 20 minutes to install Windows but a day to add, update and install everything else, and make some backup images ($20 Paragon Clone OS utility, which ARE bootable and take 10 minutes to copy 50GB )
