ITunes 10.5 beta: Error -50 when starting iTunes

Hi all,
When i try to start iTunes from the dock i always get the error -50.
I'm also using OSX Lion 10.7 beta.
I have the same problem with iTunes 10.3, only 10.2 works fine, but i already updated my iPhone to iOS 5 beta, so i'm not able to use 10.2 anymore.
I've searched a lot of this problem on google and stuff but i only found solutions for this error while downloading a video or something else, but not when starting iTunes.
Please can someone help me?

  • I keep getting an error message when starting iTunes

When I start iTunes I get an error message that says "iTunes cannot run because some of its required filles are missing. Please reinstall iTunes" I have uninstalled and reinstalled but still getting the same error message. If I reboot my computer iTunes opens with no problem but if I close iTunes and try reopening it without rebooting I get the error message. I have the most recent version. My OS is Windows XP Pro SP3. Does anyone have an answer that can resolve this issue?

    Hey SDGardella,
Thanks for the question. I understand that you are receiving error 499 when attempting to download purchases from the iTunes Store. The following resource outlines this error message:

  • Error messages when starting iTunes - 11556 and other. Who may help?

    Hi there,
When starting iTunes i get to the iTunes U store. Trying to connect to the normal iTunes store, I get the following error message:
"We could not complete your iTunes store request. The iTunes store is temporarly unavailable"
This message I get since about one week. Further I tried to sign in and then I get the following message:
"iTunes could not connect to the iTunes store. An unknown error occured (11556). Make sure your network connection is active and try again."
Network connection is working. iTunes connectivity diagnostics showed: all tests passed. I am using the latest version of iTunes (9.0.3.15). I tried to reinstall iTunes - did not help.
I hope, anybody can help me.

    Hey Richard
After I posted here I realized it was in the Windows/iTunes board. I reposted in the OS X/iTunes board along with the solution.
I did more searching on Google and found that the store was disabled in parental controls in the iTunes Prefs. Go to iTunes prefs, click on Parental. See if iTunes store is disabled. I unchecked it and am all set. Someone mentioned that when iTunes is updated, this setting is the default.
    Hope this helps.

  • I get an error message when starting itunes

Hi, i'v ehad this problem for a while .. i'm not a computer expert but i do my best. I get an error message when clicking to start iTunes ... can someone help me ! i don't want to lose my songs !

    top fixes are
    - turning off security software before the install as Apple suggests
    - installing QuickTime standalone, not regular
    http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/standalone.html
    - setting up Norton to allow iTunes
    - scanning for malware with ewido (Free at www.ewido.net/en/)
In your case, if iTunes was working OK for a while and then mysteriously stopped, youve got a virus, I bet. Do the ewido malware scan.

  • Strange error message when starting ITunes, ITunes doesn't recognise devices for wifi sync

I have other wifi problems with my IMac running Mountain Lion but this is the most annoying. When I start ITunes it doesn't recognise that I have my IPhone 5 and my IPad 2 sitting connected to the same wifi network and waiting to sync.

Google search has explained to me that this is related to Bonjour but nothing further. I have done the 'usual' - booted in safe mode, repaired permissions, updated software, reinstalled Mountain Lion via Disc Recovery, restarted my modem etc.
Before I just wipe the hard drive and start again from scratch, maybe there's something obvious I'm not doing? Every other device in the house (2 x Iphones, 2 x Ipads, 1 Apple TV, 2 wifi radios and 1 other IMac desktop) have no problems with the wifi network.

I am having similar issue.  Getting these same 24 error messages everytime I start iTunes. Sharing is already off.

  • Application Error (0xc0000005) when starting iTunes - Please help

I get the following Application Error message when I try to start iTunes:
"The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000005). Click on OK to terminate the application."
I cannot think of anything that has changed on my PC, but something must have. It may be that this is the first time that I tried to open iTunes after rebooting following the upgrade to 7.2, but I certainly was able to open iTunes 7.2 before rebooting.
Any help or advice on how to resolve this problem would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

  • Error -50 when starting iTunes Store

I'm running the newest version of iTunes on a Windows XP machine and iTunes itself seems to work, but evertime I hit the iTunes Store button on the left side I get an error message stating 'We could not complete your iTunes Store request. An unknown error occurred (-50).

it says:" itunes has encoutered a problem and needs to close we are sorry for the inconvience" everytime i click on itunes and start it it always said that plz help been trying and searching for 5 days plz plz!!!

ok i got it but how do i move my files from the old admin to the other account?
let's try getting the old account launching again. the fact that it is opening in the new account gives us leads on potential causes of the crashing problem.
the first thing we'll check for is skunky iTunes preference files in the account you're getting the crash in. (there's a different set of pref files in each XP user account, which is how we can get this "launch in one account, crash in another" behavior with a pref files problem.)
if that's what is going on, we can often get past it by rebuilding your itunes preference files in the crashing account. here's how we'll do it.
quit itunes and log in to the account that you're crashing in.
make sure you have "show hidden files and folders" switched on. to do that, open up My Computer, and in the Tools menu, choose "Folder Options..." Then go to the View tab, and then in the "Advanced settings", make sure that there is a check mark next to "Show hidden files and folders".
now navigate to the following folder and open it up:
    C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes\
("<username>" is the name of the account you're crashing in.)
inside, you should see an "iTunesPref.xml" file and possibly an "iTunes.pref" file. rename them "iTunes.pref1" and iTunesPref.xml1". move them to your desktop.
now navigate to the following folder:
    C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Local Settings\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes\
inside, you should see another "iTunesPref.xml" file and possibly an "iTunes.pref" file. rename them "iTunes.pref2" and iTunesPref.xml2". move them to your desktop.
now try launching iTunes again. the iTunes Setup Assistant will run again for you (you'll see the license agreement and whatnot.) this will generate new pref files.
after the iTunes Setup assistant finishes, does your iTunes launch properly?

Taken at face value, you're having trouble with an Apple Application Support program file there. (Apple Application Support is where single copies of program files used by multiple different Apple programs are kept.)
Let's try something relatively simple first. Restart the PC. Now head into your Uninstall a program control panel, select "Apple Application Support" and then click "Repair".
    Does iTunes launch properly now?
If no joy after that, try the more rigorous uninstall/reinstall procedure from the following post:
