ITunes 10.5 did not install after software update ran.

After running software update on iMac 2.66 GHz Intel Core 2 duo, the iTunes.app in the Applications folder is still 10.4.1.
I downloaded the installation dmg, and ran that twice. Still no change. What is going on?
The system updates were installed 10.7.2.

Praise God - I found the solution after hours of work: (1) Uninstall all Apple programs (itunes, Quicktime, Bonjour, .....); (2) Go to "Common Files" and delete all Apple files - this might be difficult for some are locked from you - you may have to change the "Owner" of the file in order to delete it - if that doesn't work "Rename the Apple Follder to something like Apple Old - that's like deleting it. Then download 10.5 from Apple and away you go - yippee.

The receipt is only of use to B&H. Adobe will have no record of it.
If you quote an Adobe Lightroom serial number then Adobe can confirm if that serial number has ever been registered. That step should not be required at this stage though. Just install the software.

Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

Macbook battery not charging after software update

I was doing some work on my MacBook (4,1) with the charger plugged in and the lid closed (I was using my TV as a montior. There was a software update for itunes and a few others and now it's saying the battery needs to be serviced!
The battery currently has 62% charge, i've not disconnected the charger once in teh few hours I was working. Anyone got any ideas as to what could cause this?
The change to needing the battery serviced was not straight after the update, I don't think so anyway. I've not really noticed it until I went to pick up my MacBook and it all started to go haywire. It because unresponsive, black screen etc.
I've tried to reset the SMC and i've checked the charge cycyles too and it's about 250 so there's no problem there. It's just annoying as this is the 3rd battery i've had for this macbook, the other two being replaced under warranty. Now the warranty is up and it needs chaging for a 4th time!

I see you marked this question as "solved" is that the case?
If not, are you able to startup your computer via "safe boot" by holding the SHIFT key on startup (until the Apple logo appears and the gear appears below it).
The next step, would also be to boot off the system restore disc that came with your computer and attempt to repair the volume (the internal HD) via the the built-in disc utility.

I have and iMac G5 running Leopard. I installed the software update for Quicktime.
The computer stalled at the blue screen on the restart. I followed the instructions on another thread for booting up off the install disk. I did the Repair Disk. That said all OK. Now I am running Repair permissions. Now I don't know what to do when that finishes, if it does. It is taking a very long time. Help!!

Does Disk Utility keep scrolling lines of text by as it is working?
How full is the hard drive? If DU finds a lot of problems it could take some time to do the Repair.

Those are part of the "iLife" suite, which is installed separately. iLife is bundled with every Mac, and it comes on the "Software Restore" disks that came with yours. It is not included on any retail OS X disks.
Regardless of how you installed OS X (Software Restore disks or a retail version), look for it on the Software Restore disk, in the "Bundled Software" package.

ITunes will not start after software update yesterday

Using recent version of iTunes to manage my iPod Touch on a ThinkPad T400 with Win7 Pro 64-bit.
I was offered a software update last night, and took it. It appeared to install OK and required a reboot, which I performed.
Now I cannot run iTunes at all. In the Processes view of Task Manager, the iTunes process appears and then disappears without any kind of UI error message.
I heve rebooted again. I have downloaded the 10.4 installer from http://www.apple.com/uk/itunes/download/ and used the repair option.
No good. Rebooted. No good. The file version from Properties of iTunes64Setup.exe is 10.4.0.80 by the way.
Stopped the Bonjour service. No good.
So now I cannot get my latest podcasts onto my iPod and I am extremely unhappy.
Any ideas please?

If you downgrade, uninstall Apple compatibility support also from Programs as that seems to be the crux of many issues, both with iTunes but also Safari.
The other "crux" is that QT 7.7 and Safari 5.1 are security patches/updates deemed "critical/essential" category. Safari you can probably do w/o. iTunes is "dot zero" (10.4.0).
iTunes: I am always doing this that bring UAC to blank the screen, and refuse to disable that security feature, but that also means iTunes video (music, movies etc) will also go blank.
Other feature I have had with itunes is that it will go into a process thread lock wait state between video/movie and require a kill thread.
In 5 yrs Vista/7 I've had more issues with Apple software than anything else bare none.

Built in iSight not working after software update!

Last night, I updated front row, quicktime, and iTunes via the software updater. Now nothing is recognizing my built in camera (iChat, photo booth). It says there is no camera connected to the computer. Also, software update isn't working. Does anybody have any idea what could have happened and how to get it running again? Thanks!

Here is what I suggest you do next.
System Profiler is a pre-Lion term. If you are really using OS X 10.7.3, you need to use the "System Information" utility.
After you launch "System Information", click the "USB" item in the "Hardware" item of the System Information window's sidebar. (If the reveal triangles are pointing to the right like ►, click on it so it points down like this ▼ to find the USB item.) Then look under each USB bus item in the "USB Device Tree" for your camera.
If there is no iSight or FaceTime camera listed anywhere in your "USB Device Tree", verify that you used the correct PMU/SMC "reset" procedure for your particular Mac model. If your camera is still not recognized in System Information", yours is most likely a hardware problem that will require a professional fix.
Then contact Apple or an Apple-Authorized Service Provider for service.
Unless you have a current backup, make one before giving your Mac to the repair technician.

ITunes is making my MBA halt after Software Update

I have a MacBookAir4,2 with Mac OS X Lion 10.7.3 (11D50d)
After running Software Update on my MacBook Air last wednesday (after the iPad "3" announcement) iTunes has stopped working.
Everything is working just fine unless I try to start iTunes. Then then dock-icon for iTunes jumps just once, and soon thereafter the machine hangs. Only "cold restart" works - that is pressing the power button until the MBA powers off.
I have looked in "Console" - nothing special there.
I have tried to install the Combo Update, as Software Update reports that I am runninig the newest software. This does not fix the problem.
I have, however, found out that if I disable WiFi before I start iTunes, then everything works (it of course says that it cannot contact iTunes Store). I can enable WiFi afterwards and then everything continues to work.
I should add that creating a new user and starting iTunes from that account also freezes the MBA.
Do you have any hints to what could be wrong? Do I need to reinstall or can I do something less drastic?

What computer are you using? This could be important because some makes come with preinstalled software that can conflict with iTunes.
Does Windows crash with either a blue screen stop or automatic restart, or does Windows keep running but freezes/behaves abnormally?
Does the problem occur when iTunes is installed whether or not iTunes is running, or only if you start iTunes.
Does Quicktime work normally?
One thing that occurs to me immediately is some kind of conflict with other software on your PC. You can use MSconfig to investigate this:

If I delete the following:
- Samsung folder in /Libraries/Printers/
- Samsung Scanner.app in /Library/Image Capture/Devices
Will it remove samsung driver for printer and scanner?
If yes, then I can reinstall SamsungPrinterSoftwareUpdate v2.2 (found in on the internet from google search)
note: confirmed the problem is with SamsungPrinterSoftwareUpdate v2.3

i dont know if anyone could help me but i recently done a software update for my blackberry torch 9800 and after it upddated it hasnt been the same the screen isnt the same some of my icons are missing and nothing is right and i done a software downgrade to see if that would help and it didnt make any difference and i have removed the battery several times but it does not seem to be working and i do not know what to do! so if there someone who might be able to help me i would be very greatful.

Please refer to this official download portal as you proceed. It is sorted first by carrier -- so if all you want are the OS levels your carrier supports, your search will be quick. However, some carriers are much slower than others to release updates. To truly seek out the most up-to-date OS package for your BB, you must dig through and find all carriers that support your specific model BB, and then compare the OS levels that they support.

Note that while written for "reload" and the Storm, it can be used to upgrade, downgrade, or reload any BB device model -- it all depends on the OS package you download and install to your PC. You may also want to try the "Bare Bones OS Reload Procedure" to attempt to narrow down the precise causal item:
Load your OS "bare bones"...if anything is optional, do not install it.
If the behavior presents immediately, then try a different OS with step 1
If the behavior does not immediately present, then run for as long as it takes for you to be sure that the behavior will not present.
Add one thing -- no matter how tempting, just one.
If the behavior does not present immediately, then again run for long enough to be sure it will not have the same problem
Repeat steps 4 and 5 until all things are loaded or the behavior presents
When the behavior presents, you know the culprit...the last thing you loaded.
If the behavior does not re-present, then you know that either step 1 or 2 cured it.
If the behavior presents no matter what, then you likely have a hardware level issue for which no amount of OS or software can cure.
