Itunes 10.5 - no visualizers

In Itunes 10.5 i can't choose any other visualizer than the standard and classic one (not even custom ones). I also cannot click the options menu item under the visualizer menu.

You are welcome.
I am even running the Desktop/Screensaver Preferences in 32-bit mode. Otherwise they would crash when I use a Quartz Composer Screensaver.
Cheers

  • Visualizers For The iPod. (Not for iTunes)

We all know the many different visualizers for the iTunes, but are there any visualizers for the iPod itself?
I've got the 5th Gen 30GB Video by the way.
Can you tell me what site I can get them at, if such visualizers exists!
Like how u download mp3 player software for your cell phone, its like that i wanna do with my iPod.
    THANK YOU EVRY1 In advance!!

Well it might not be an issue NOW, but certainly when the battery goes asplode your gonna have to run on over to the apple store(and they tend to be very snobby with unhappy customers) and then when u ask to get it fixed, they'll say fine, we'll have it done by tommroow, and then they'll chuck it in this little basket for the poor guy in the back who is already swamped tp fx it. Then you gona have to run over again and fetch your iPod. And all that just aint neccassary.
And if it's in your car, why in the nine blazing hells would you want visualizers?! You need to be paying attention to the road!
And I would imagine, that using such a featurw ould deplete a battery in a little over 2 hours, because it's like watching a movie accept worse:)

  • ITunes 8 Visualizers Both Produce Less Than Spectacular Effects

I have noticed that the ITunes 8 Visualizers running on my MacBook Pro 17" Core Duo with Mac OS X 10.5.4 both produce less than spectacular effects. Has anyone else noticed this problem?
More than half of the 'Classic' Visualizer's effects look like two cones mounted vertically connected at their vertices (as in the letter 'X'). You can scroll through these 'Classic' effects using the 'A' and 'S' keys to scroll backward and forward, and the name of the selected effect will appear in line 2 of the information that appears in the upper-right corner of the screen. These same named effects in ITunes 7.7.1 did NOT look anything like an 'X'.
The new Visualizer's effects look like white globes floating around the screen with various patterns dancing around them to the music. Not very inspiring. You can scroll through the 20 effects of the new Visualizer using the 'M' key.
Something must be wrong ... with the new ITunes software, I presume.

If it were happening to me, I would revert back to iTunes 7.7.1, make sure that the problem does not occur with that version, and then update again to iTunes 8. It is possible that something went wrong with your original iTunes 8 update.
FYI, in order to revert back to iTunes 7.7.1, you first have to trash iTunes in the Applications folder and iTunesX.pkg in the Library/Receipts folder. And any time you install new software, it is also a good idea to run Disk Utility, select your HD, and then click on Repair Disk Permissions.
To install iTunes 7.7.1, you can download iTunes 7.7 at the following link, then double-click on the iTunes.mpkg file that appears, follow the installation instructions, and when installation is complete, drag the iTunes 7.7.1 disk drive icon that remains on your desktop to the trash.

I don't know if you needed all the above information, but I supplied it just to be sure. Hope it helps.

  • Adding or importing iTunes Visualizers

I've been curious to know if anyone knows of or has found a way that visualizers in iTunes can be moved or imported from different machines. The task I'm trying to figure out, is the Jelly visualizer that's available in iTunes on 10.5/10.6 machines, if it can be made to work on iTunes for Windows Vista/7 64-bit? I absolutely love this visualizer, and would love to see it in Windows, as I'm primarily a Windows user.

Well, iTunes 10 is now out, and I'm sadly disappointed to see that they have not added any new visualizers to the application, so we're still stuck with the old 2 (although they still are quite trippy).
Maybe this would be ample opportunity for you code crawlers out there to see if there is in fact, a way to import/export different visualizers from the mac version of iTunes to the PC version, I'm still on the hunt to get that Jelly visualizer in iTunes for Mac over to the pc version

  • Add additional visualizers to (Mac) iTunes 11.1.3 or 11.1.4

So I found some really cool visualizers other than the 2 already included with iTunes I would like to add. However, I can't find out how to install the new visualizers into iTunes so that I can use them. Does anyone know how to add new visualizers to iTunes 11.1.3+ ?
I'm currently using iTunes 11.1.3 (will update to 11.1.4 soon). In iTunes 10 this was easy... now I'm not sure. Please help/advise

    They go in [user]/Library/iTunes/iTunes Plug-ins.
Note: a lot of the really cool visualizers (like FountainMusic - my favorite) no longer work with iTunes because its a 64 bit app and running it in 32 bit mode causes problems with other stuff, if... you can even get it to run in 32 bit, which it won't on my Mavericks machine.

  • Itunes visualizers on macbook

None of the visualizers I added to my powerbook work on the macbook pro or macbook. Does anyone know what's up with that? I put them in the itunes plug-ins folder in the library as I was supposed to - but they don't show up in the visualizer list in iTunes. Annoying! Does anyone else have this problem? Are all the visualizers going to have to be re-written?

Yep, same thing is happening to me.
Prior to iTunes 7 I had iGoom, Fountain Music, LED Spectrum Analyser & Fielder all working pefectly but now only iTunes Visualizer works.
They are all in the correct iTunes Plug-ins folder but don't show up in the drop down menu in iTunes anymore.
If I click on the .bundle icon, it just opens iTunes.
I've just downloaded eXo but to no avail.
Looks like there's some kind of block on 3rd party visualizers now.
    Shame!

  • Visualizers don't show up in iTunes

I downloaded a number of Visualizers, but they don't show up in the Visualizer menu, like described.
I'm running an intel iMac, and I notice the Visualizers are all PPC native.. could this be causing it?
    sidenote:
I've also deleted the iTunes.plist file, but I always get a gibberish file once I start it again. With the prefs inspector, it does read properly, but I though the plist files were plain xml??

Visualizers, like all plugins, will need to be updated to be Universal or Intel-native. I'd contact the developers of the visualizers to checkout their plans.

  • Any good visualizers for the iPad that work with iTunes?

I have long wanted to hear my iTunes library through my home cinema system and watch the iTunes visualizer at the same time. Current Macs support mirroring on a TV via Apple TV, but mine are too old. I thought I could get around this with an iPad, but iTunes on the iPad does not feature a visualizer, so I'm looking at third party apps.
I'm not too impressed with the App store search facilities though - it doens't seem to find a lot of things I've been told are on there. The Apple store I visited advised me to go this route, but Gravilocity and Light Beams - two I've been told about - don't show up in the searches.
What I need is a good visualizer that I can run as well as iTunes (not as part of it) so that I can mirror this via Apple TV. I am working on the assumption that an iPad can play iTunes content, and allow you to open another software item on top of it? Sorry if that sounds dumb, but I've never used one.
I'm sure there's probably something out there, but thus far I haven't found it.
At present, what do you see on Apple TV when you play anything from iTunes? I understand front row has gone.
If anyone can give me a few pointers to solve this puzzle, I would be most grateful.
    Many thanks in advance.

Wouldn't hold my breath waiting for it. Apple has a distinct preference for everything going through iTunes.
You can look into word processor programs like Documents to Go, which have wifi syncing outside of iTunes, or other online services like Dropbox or others that allow you to upload and download documents, syncing them without going through iTunes.

  • How to uninstall third-party visualizers on iTunes?

To be specific I cannot uninstall the visualizer "Cubism". It required that I put a qtz file (Cubism) into a folder called "Compositions" (already provided for in the little window you open from the dmg) and then drag it into ~/Library/Compositions. I didn't like it, so I deleted the "Compositions" folder in the Compositions folder in the Library. Now, it still appears in the visualizer menu in iTunes and still works for some reason. I searched all my files for "Cubism" or "Compositions" but I can't find them anywhere. Can anyone help me?

    Hi kroppin,
See if it is in one of these folders and remove it from there.

  • How to use .qtz files with iTunes 10 as visualizers

I know that they usually go in System/Library/Compositions and I placed them there but when I reopen iTunes, they don't show up? Back with Tiger they used to be in ~/Library/Compositions so I know that doesn't work.
    Any ideas?
    Thx!

    did you solve this problem?

  • ITunes 10.6 visualizers

I have searched all over for this, and found nothing in the Kbase so far...
how come my plug-in bundles no longer work in iTunes?
    I have iTunes 10.6 (40) on my new iMac (11,2) Core i3
A couple new ones work, but none of the plug-in "bundles" in the plug-ins folder.
I read somewhere to put it back into 32-bit mode, but that option is not availoable in the "Get Info" window.
    Any odeas?
    Thanks!
    John

Uhhh I do not have that option.
    Any other ideas?
    Thanks for the prompt reply!
(PS I DO have Rosetta installed.)

  • Where do I download new iTunes 7 Visualizers (PC)?

I'm strating to get bored by the old ones,
is it possible to add new ones?
And if so, where do I download them
    Many thanks,
    R.

At the end of the article it says:
"Note: iPod touch (1st generation) is not compatible with iOS 4 software."
I'm sort of lost now, lol.

  • Quartz Composer and iTunes Visualizers

I can simplify my question to one word: How?
I've looked around on here and online for help on making a visualizer. I want to make a very very very simple one (one like Fire storm or ocean mist on Windows Media Player, just a bunch of bars) but I don't have a single idea how to do it. I can't even figure out the template one that loads in the Leopard version of QC.
Does anyone know how to use it that would be able to explain it? If not, does anyone know where I can go to learn how to use it?

There is a lot of documentation on Apple's developer site, such as Graphics & Imaging.

  • ITunes does not respond when opening, but works in safe mode

    Hey there
So over the last two days or so, my ITunes (Latest version 11.1.4.) on MacBook Pro opens fine but then as soon as I click whatever, it gets stuck on the spinning wheel. I have now read that you can open it in Safe Mode by shift-option-command and click on iTunes on the desktop, which works fine, but is not the ultimate solution.
Would you please have any suggestions as to what I can do to fix this?
    Thank you very much already!
    Kristin

(It may be reacting badly with the new iTunes version, even though it's been okay with earlier ones.)
b noir, just to confirm - the "Quartz Composer Visualizer.bundle" is working very well on my Mavericks MBP with 11.1.4. Only the Music Visualizers bundles, that need iTunes to run 32bit mode, will no longer run in iTunes 11.1.4.,  e.g. the iVisualize bundle and the visualizers "Be Composed", etc.
Perhaps is something in the iTunes Visualizer folder, that uses quartz filters requiring advanced features of the graphics card, and therefore disabled in Safe Mode.

  • Adding new Visualizer(s) to iTunes for Windows (Vista/7 64-bit)

I was actually kinda curious, not really a technical question, but are there ways to add other visualizers into iTunes? I ask this in particular, as I have worked with Macs before, and I fell in love with the Jelly visualizer from 10.5, and would love to have that same one running on Windows Vista. Any suggestions as to where other visualizers can be obtained, or how to port one over from Mac to PC?

That version is quite old now, though its fine if you don't have a device that requires a newer version for syncing or want to use the latest features. Should you want to bring things up to date howver, and have problems updating, then for general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
The further information area has direct links to the current and recent builds in case you have problems downloading, need to revert to an older version or want to try the iTunes for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) release as a workaround for installation or performance issues, or compatibility with QuickTime or third party software.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there are also links to backup and recovery advice should it be needed.
