Itunes 10.5 popping up
I have installed itunes 10.5, and it keeps popping up after i close it. I do not have any widgets or anything. it just keeps popping up. and its driving me crazy. Also how would I know if there are widgets. maybe I have but I'm not aware.
Having the same problem too. Spent an hour on the phone with Apple support to fix problem. It didn't help. ITunes keeps on popping up. I also uninstalled and reinstalled ITunes per express lane advice. Still did not work. My son found a response from original posting that said to disable auto wifi sync. This seems to have worked, but like others I liked that option with the new IOS5. Please fix this.

Start with the third box in Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
If that doesn't work, use the steps in the second box to repair your iTunes installation. Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup advice elsewhere in the user tip.

My iPod won't let me on to the App Store, and whenever I go on to ITunes, an alert pops up that the certificate for the server is invalid, and that I may be connecting to a server that is only pretending to be iTunes.apple.com and my personal info may be at risk. I downloaded an emulator yesterday from coolroms.com but deleted the app this afternoon. I cleared my safari search data, my cookies and data, and web inspector, which still didn't work. I then proceeded to reset my iPod and then download the newest version of IOS 6.1.5 but yet still am having problems. Also to the App Store and iTunes, several other apps aren't working. Any help here?
Also, when I go on to safari, another alert pops up that safari cannot verify the identity of the website, anything that I type in to as common as google.com. It gives me 3 options to either cancel, look at details, and continue. I've looked at the details of the website of Google and it is legitimate the site. Any help?

I upgraded itunes since a pop up stated that I would have to upgrade it so it can recognize my iphone5's new software. I upgraded the itunes and now when I plug in the iphone its asking "set up as new iphone" will this delete everything on my phone? Also why is it forcing me to set up as a new iphone, why doesn't it recognize it like it did before I upgraded iTunes. I'm afaid I will lose all my apps, music, pictures etc. please help. thank you.
You are correct. Corrupted files are in the backup. If you've already restored the iPhone it has been erased and starting over is the way to go in order to eliminate the corrupted files.

when trynig to get new music from itunes a message pops up on my computer saying the disk cannot be found. I dont know what this is, now i cannot not only get the new music i just purchased i seem to have lost all of my other music i already has as well. Thanks for all of your help. Took the old girl in to a techie at London Drugs and my HD had failed, simple mechanical failure after 5 years of useful service. They mentioned that it was a pretty massive failure as they were unable to extract ANY information whatsoever. For those of you wondering what the warning signs were: slowing down of all processes, especially opening applications; freezing up when running an internet applcation and browsing at the same time; occasional starting up with a flashing folder with the dreaded ? (which would restart the first few times once I disconnected all peripherals, including the keyboard); finally full failure with only a white screen showing upon start up.
I am getting a new HD, will reinstall from Time Machine and there will be peace in the valley. -
When I open iTunes, this window pops up. "A required component is not installed. Please reinstall iTunes. (-42076)" I have not been able to sync my iPhone after restoring it. Can anyone help?
Download iTunes 11 from the Apple site and reinstall. The error message was quite plain in telling you what to do to resolve the error.

Do you happen to have multiple network links? Meaning do you have TC bridged to the U-verse router.. with both ethernet and wireless working at the same time. I discovered this one all by my loansome.. having multiple paths does not seem to worry most things on the computer.. but it totally kills TM.
I had the same sort of thing happening in testing a TC I am fixing. So I have multiple ethernet and wireless. The incremental backups became extremely slow.. by turning off wireless and one ethernet so there is only one route to the TC.. it flys again. -

Hello - I had this same problem after a fresh install of windows 7....drove me crazy...I noticed that windows had installed my soundcard automatically, without the factory drivers. I downloaded and updated the original drivers for my soundcard, and it fixed the problem. I don't know if this will work for everyone, but it worked for me....hope it helps someone else. I am using a realtek onboard soundcard on a gigabyte board.

I had to reinstalled windows xp on my PC and everytime I try to download itunes a message pops up saying "there is a problem with this windows installer package. A program required for this install to complete could not be run". But it does not say what program is required. I've had to reinstalled windows xp before and never had a problem.

You need to copy some files and your iTunes folder to the new computer. Do you have a backup of your old computer (or still have the old computer?) Was the old computer a Mac or PC?

OS 10.5.x is the max OS for Macs with a PowerPC processor. If your iMac has an Intel processor you can upgrade to Snow Leopard OS 10.6.x and possibly Lion OS 10.7

My brother accidently uninstalled my last version of iTunes, and now, after I re-installed the latest version, itunes won't pop up when I click on it. I've tried clicking on both the start menu and on the screen, b/c I thought maybe the short cut was flawed. Nope! And besides this, connecting my ipod to the computer isn't working, either, to make it come up.
I should have asked you if Quicktime works OK, as iTunes can't work without it,but I assume that Quicktimes is OK unless you let me know different.
There are several things to work through here.
Run a virus and spyware scan with up to date definitions.
Try this link on deleting the configuration file:

Try briefly disabling your firewall to see if that allows iTunes to launch. Not a common issue now but a sign that the firewall needs reconfiguring it it works.
Then something rather more complicated:
A common cause of your problem these days is a problem with cryptographic dlls.
Try working through *Method 4* in this article:

If you manage to get through the whole process of un-registering and registering the dlls with out an error, try starting iTunes.
If you get errors, make a careful note of all the errors and post back.
