ITunes 10.5 rolls back during installation

Whenever I try to install iTunes 10.5, it finishes with.
Sometimes it will install, but it says I need to download and install the 64 bit version, which I had installed?
My Laptop is a Compaq Presario, Windows 7 64 Bit

The backup to disc feature was removed in iTunes 10.4. Support documents should have been updated to reflect that by now. Do you have a link to the incorrect info?
To backup your iTunes library see this User Tip, use the general backup tools that you have bought or were supplied with your computer, or subscribe to iCloud.

    Hello there Unicornbarf534,
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
It sounds like you are unable to successfully install iTunes. I recommend the troubleshooting instructions in this article named:
Trouble installing iTunes or QuickTime for Windows
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1926
Here is a general outline of where the troubleshooting will take you:
    General installation troubleshooting
    1. Empty your Temp directory and restart
    2. Completely remove iTunes and related components
    3. Install the latest version of iTunes
    Additional troubleshooting
After performing each of the steps below, you will need to completely remove iTunes and related components and then install iTunes again to determine whether the issue is resolved.
    1. Make sure you have administrator account access
    2. Make sure your folder names don't contain strange characters
    3. Get the latest Windows updates
    4. Disable other conflicting software
    Additional Information
If you only need to install QuickTime, or if iTunes installs but QuickTime installation did not complete
Try downloading and installing the standalone version of QuickTime from http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/. Be sure you download the version that does not include iTunes.
If the steps outlined in this article don't help, you may be able to find a solution to your issue by searching the Microsoft support website.
    All the best,
    Sterling

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.

  • Element 9 error "Rolling back the installation of Elements 9" failed.??

I just bought Elements 9 for Windows. And anytime I try to download it, it says "Rolling back the installation of Elements 9" then says "shared technologies failed"?
I have tried multiple things listed on here and nothing helps.
Does anyone know how to fix this??
    Thanks~!

    Hello,
I noticed that there is a log we can refer to:
    C:\Windows\CCM\Microsoft.ConfigurationManager.AssetProvider.InstallLog
Since the client software is not installed successfully, I'm not 100% sure if the folder persists.
In addition please check event log. Pay attention to those logs regarding WMI.

  • TS3212 Itunes 10.7 Rolls back installation after attempting to install on Windows Vista 64bit.

I downloaded the version in this link, presumably for Vista 64:
http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1577 . It goes through the process but rolls back the installaion and reports "error in installation". I turned off kaspersky Suite but got the sam emessage. Any ideas?

To clarify, I already have iTunes 10.6. Also, I just checked back on the iTunes installer (the manual one) and it now says: "iTunes Installer Completed
The installer encountered errors before iTuens could be configured.
Errors occurred during installation. Your system has not been modified.
Please run the installer again, or click Finish to exit."

  • ITunes 11.1 - "Error occurred during installation"

Right. So, I updated my iPod to iOS 7, same as most everybody here and attempted to sync to my iTunes. However, I recieved a message saying that iTunes needed to be updated to 11.1 before I could even do that again. Simple enough, clicked on the "Search updates" under help, and set everything to install. When I got to the iTunes portion, however, everything closed out mid-updated. The window said "Installation Completed", but read that an error had occurred during installation. I tried to sync again, sure enough, no change.
So, I checked around the internet for answers. Saw a common reccomendation to uninstall the current iTunes and install a download directly from the website. So, I followed suit with the same procedure--and, sure enough, I recieved the exact same error.
I've tried to restart the computer and perform the install, scanned for any system errors, shut down and booted back up, used a secondary username, but nothing doing. Mind you, I'm not about to accept that I'm locked out of some of the most basic functions of something i paid two hundred and fifty dollars for. So, what needs to be done to fix this?

    Hello there, LandersmanIV.
Properly uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes can be a tricky venture. I would recommend reviewing the following Knowledge Base article for guidance:
Removing and Reinstalling iTunes and other software components for Windows XP
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1925
If you're on Windows 7/8 there is a referral link at the beginning that you can click to follow.
Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.
    Cheers,
    Pedro D.

I just want to give you an overview of some errors protocolled by my system after installation of iTunes 7.01 (in German). Malfunction of iTunes on my system: iTunes does not recognize my iPod so I went back to iTunes 6.05.

the SideBySides appear to be being produced by your Apple Software Update for Windows when it runs a scheduled check.
there's a new update for ASU available (version 1.0.2.2). go "Start > all programs > Apple Software Update > Apple Software Update", and try installing the version of ASU that comes up.
do you get the SideBySide events again at your next scheduled check for updates with ASU 1.0.2.2 in place?

  • I updated my iphone 5 through Itunes but an error occurred during installation on the phone that read -42110. Now the phone has a usb icon and itunes icon and is not recognized by itunes or my computer (windows 7). I uninstalled and reinstalled. no luck

I attempted to update my iphone 5 through itunes. Itunes backed up the phone. However, when it tried to install the updated software an error message displayed -42110. Now the iphone is unresponsive with a usb icon with an arrow pointing to an itunes icon. The computer makes a connection noise when I hook the phone to the computer but it does not appear to be recognized. It does not appear in the My Computer section. Itunes does not recognize it either. I disabled my security software. I uninstalled itunes, Bonjour, Quick time, apple updates, Aplle mobile updates ect. I reinstalled Itunes and the program still does not recognize the phone.

If you uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes, did you follow the steps in this support document http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923 exactly. Check and make sure.  If you did, then try this support document to get the phone into the Recovery mode. It may take more than one try. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808

  • Itunes 7.7.1 freezes during installation

When i try to install Itunes 7.7.1 the installations freezes (it looks likes it's still working on it. but i've tried waiting for hours and nothing happens) as soon as i gets to the "installation" part.
It's the same both when i use the software updater, and when i try to download the installer directly from apple.com
i'm useing Maac OS X 10.4.11, and i don't have any old versions of itunes installed.
Anyone got any suggestions as to what i can try?

I have exactly the same issues with my new 80G iPOD. I have found that when connecting to my PC, the iPOD does not start iTUNES 7. This can be resolved by stopping the iPOD Service in Computer Management, connecting the iPOD and then starting it again. Then when you start iTUNES it finds the iPOD. - http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93716
Seems like a stupid long-winded way to do things, but at least you can get some stuff on to your iPOD.
As far as using Restore goes - I just get the restoring iPOD message you described, which it blatantly isn't :((

  • EndInstallEx return a -2 error-message back during installation

    Hi all
I have an add-on that we have an installer for.... It is running on multiple installations and works... However within the last month we have been getting reports that our installer fails when calling The EndInstallEx function that is part of an installer....
How to use the EndInstallEx from the SDK-Help
    EndInstallEx():
Call this function to notify SAP Business One that the installation has ended. Otherwise, the installation will be marked as failed. The function returns 0 for success, 1 for error.
Problem is that instead of 0 or even 1 we recieve -2 from the call and result in the add-on fail to install
    Some facts and observations:
    - We have only seen this happen on Windows Vista
    - However some Vista machines does not have any problems
    - UAC on Vista is turned off
    - User is logged in as administrator
Does anyone know what the problem might be and what -2 from the EndInstallEx function means?

    Hi Alexey
A few week back one of our resellers had the problem and reported it to me... I passed the information onto SAP support and they came back that the question had been with development but the would like to do a web-ex to see the installation.
A web-ex date was set but 2 days before the reseller came back to me telling me that the problem was now gone (and he could not explain why, he had restarted the machine a few times that was all)
I returned this to SAP Support who canceled the web-ex and gave the following message back.
    Dear Rasmus,
    Thank you for the update.
As I would like to see the issue in order to further investigate I would
say we cancel the WebEx for now.
In case the error can be reproduced again kindly send this ticket back
with a new date for the WebEx. In case the message was confirmed by then
please create a new message with reference to this one.
For now I would say it could be a temporary issue related to
authorization or other application affecting the processes.
Should you have any additional questions regarding this issue,
please do not hesitate to contact us.
    Kind regards,
    Friederike Mundt
    SAP Business One Product Support
I would advice you to contact SAP Support on the matter with relation to my message (Message number: 1100015), and let them do the web-ex on your machine instead...
    /Rasmus

  • IPad iOS Roll back during download

I attempted an IOS upgrade on my wifes ipad without knowing she had never synced it with he mac.  It is at the stage of the upgrade when it asks to connect to iTunes.
Is there a way to rollback out of the upgrade path to restore previous settings and allow he to sync?

I also would like to know if there is anything I can do to rollback. I am very unsatisfied with the changes. I could make a pretty long list of changes that I don't like. I'm sure it's partly because I'm used to the way it was, but I'm unhappy. I really liked having the hardware screen lock and holding down on the volume was more than enough to mute the device. I have seen much worse battery life now that I have multitasking and when my kids use it there are tons of apps just sitting in the tray.
PLEASE let me rollback to clean, good iPad bliss.

  • How to roll back quicktime installation

i updated quicktime software and final cut doesnt work, how can i uninstall the latest version of qt and re-install the previous?

Since you are still using Panther, the following should be of some interest:
The minimum requirements for QT v7.5.5 is Mac OS 10.3.9
Your system info confirms you are only using OS 10.3.
You will need to update your OS to at least 10.3.9 or...........
    Undo Quicktime 7

  • Is there a way to uninstall iTunes 10 and go back to a working version?

I installed iTunes 10 when it came up a couple of days ago, and unfortunately it doesn't work. Specifically, I can apparently no longer connect to the iTunes Store, either through the computer or through the iPod. I haven't yet tried to sync my iPod - I'm afraid something will go wrong there as well.
As far as I can see, I don't have any earlier, working version of the iTunes software on my hard drive, so there's nothing to install in place of the defective version. Are there archives of the earlier versions somewhere that can be used to roll back the installation to something that works?

I'd make sure you uninstall all the associated parts and pieces. The easiest way to do this is to go to programs from the control panel, then sort the list by publisher. Scroll down and start uninstalling - starting with iTunes, then QT, then the remainder. From reading other support and forum articles, it is important to start from scratch. I'd also run a registry cleaner to help improve the outcome (but not required). You can find a 9.2.x iTunes by googling for it. I agree with a previous post on this thread about exporting your library/lists. However, another way to do this is found here - http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1451. I found this the easiest as if when you first start iTunes 9.2.x, it complains about the iTunes.itl file being created by a newer version of iTunes.

  • Install of PSE9 starts rolling back at shared technologies, and doesn't install at all

I am trying to install PSE9 on a small laptop which doesn't have a CD/DVD ROM Reader/Writer.  So I copied the program to a pendrive and it appears to have the whole program on it.  It goes through the first part of the install just fine and the icon appears on the desktop.  It gets to "installing required shared technologies" and the next action shows "rolling back the installation of PSE9".        At this time the PSE9 icon on the desktop, disappears, and the next heading says "rolling back the installation of PSE9 Organizer"  Then the window comes up which says install shield wizard completed and, "the wizard was interrupted before PSE9 could be completely installed...below mentioned application has failed to install: SHARED TECHNOLOGIES.  then I click on finish and there's nothing left of the install anywhere in the computer.  This is frustrating and I'm sure that somethinbg gets left out when I download the program to the pendrive but I don't have any other way to do it unless it could be installed directly from Adobe.  Can I do that?

first, make sure you have a complete installer:
if you follow all 7 steps, you can download the pse trial:  http://prodesigntools.com/photoshop-elements-9-premiere-elements-9-direct-download-links.h tml
    use your serial to activate.
if you have dl problem, you didn't follow all 7 steps.
