ITunes no longer starting automatically with iPhone
I have an iPhone 4S. Running iTunes 11.0.4.4 on Windows 7.
iTunes used to start automatically when I plugged in my phone as it was set to do.
have not changed the settings, and that box is still checked but now iTunes no longer starts automatically.
When I manually start iTunes, it detects my phone as normal.
When I first plug in the phone, the PC detects it and gives me the Windows dialog box asking what I want to do with the device.
I've unchecked the box, saved that, and rechecked with no changes.Hello mysticsinger,

ITunes does not start automatically when iPod is connected
iTunes used to start automatically when I connected iTunes. It no longer does. Can I fix that?
DaveConnect your iPod and open iTunes. Towards the bottom of the iPod screen, there are four check boxes. The top one says "Open iTunes when iPod is connected." Check that box and click apply. If it is checked, uncheck it and click apply, eject and reconnect your iPod, then recheck it and click apply.

Itunes does not start automatically when I plug in my iPhone. When I start it manually, it never recognizes the phone although it does ask if I want to download pictures etc. Many albums have no art work that use to. iTunes completely unresponsive to the mouse.

ITunes no longer starts automatically whwn I connect my devices
Hi there,
This is a small problem, but an annoying one. Before updating to iTunes 10.5 (and my devices to iOS5), iTunes used to start up when I connected any one of my apple devices (iPod Classic/iPod nano/iPad/2 x iPhones) and start syncing automatically. Now I have to start iTunes manually, and although my iPhone/iPod/iWhatever is listed under 'Devices' in the sidebar on the left, I have to click the sync button myself.
I know, I know – small potatoes compared with the problems of others, but a little bit annoying. I used to love it when I connected my device and iTunes did exactly what I wanted without me doing anything.
Thanks in advance!Hi Michael
Thanks for the link to the tip!
In that link Nick Holmes said that the iTunesHelper app was to be fount in the contents of the iTunes app, in the folder Contents>Resouces. As it turns out it was in 'Contents>MacOS'
I wonder if there was a change in the location of the iTunesHelper when it switched from iTunes 10.4.x to 10.5, because although iTunesHelper was in my Login items, it wasn't working.
To cut a long story short, I removed iTunesHelper from my loginitems, re-added it using the instruction in your link and rebooted - hey presto, it worked!!!
So thanks to you, and well done for crediting Nick Holmes. I'll send some positive vibes his way... -
ITunes doesn't start automatically when ipod is connected.
Even though I have clicked on the place that says itunes will start automatically when iPod is connected to pc, it doesn't. I have to click on iTunes everytime, and then it takes a while to run.
Anyone have any ideas what might be the problem?hi joyful!
just checking. reboot the PC, and prior to launching itunes or plugging in the ipod, bring up your Task Manager to the "processes" tab.
is there an iTunesHelper.exe running in your processes?

Upgrading to iTunes 10.1 on my MBP (MacOS 10.6.5) i got two problems:
first, itunes dont starts automaticly anymmore, when connecting iPhone 3GS(iOS 4.2.1). Starting Itunes manually, iPhone-sync starts and works well??? The "dont sync automaticly"-button in iTunes setup is not set!
sec.: iTunes 10.1 dont play videopodcasts anymore. Only sound is o.k. The podast itself is o.k.and vissibale with other tools and after syncing, iPhone shows them, too.
Any Tips?
greetings to all
A. GehrmannMine did something very similar - when I tried to search, I got a message saying that it couldn't contact the iTunes Store. I uninstalled it and reinstalled it, and afterwards it worked, but the fix might have had nothing to do with that uninstall/reinstall. I wasn't able to contact the iTunes Store through my iPod either, and that didn't work for a while even after the reinstall. Then eventually it ran correctly as well.
I'm inclined to believe that there was something wrong at iTunes, not on my end. Have you tried again recently? Hopefully it'll be working again, like mine is. -
TS1717 itunes will not start automatically when the phone is plugged in
My iTunes will not start on my pc when I plug the phone in and the box to check is greyed out
iTunes=10.6.1.7
Windows 7 OS
iphone 4S=5.1.1
When I plug the device in it is recognized by the PC, and if I start iTunes is finds it and I can do all functions.
It seems to me that I used to be able to auto-start iTunes when I first installed it, but now I am not sure if this problem is because I changed phones from a 3g to the 4s....
I don't know enough about it to try anything...................... -

My iTunes does not start automatically
Hi,
When I connect my iTouch to my Dell laptop with Window Vista Home, the iTunes 8.0 program does not start up automatically. I tried removed, reinstalled, changed USP ports...but it still not works. I'm using USB 2.0, iPouch Touch 1G, firmware 2.1
I would appreciate if you could help. ThanksHi
If you want your iTunes to start once you have plugged in your ipod, all you have to do is the following:
~ Plug in your iPod
~ Open iTunes
~ Go into your iPod setting via iTunes
~ On the main iPod screen will be a tick box saying something like "start itunes once ipod is plugged in"
~ Tick that box, then close itunes and take out the ipod
~ test itunes when you plug in the device
Hopefully this will work
Thanks

Today I encountered the following problem om my MBP:
When I connect my iPhone 3GS or iPad on the MBP, iTunes (v10.2.2) doens't launch automatically.
After self-starting iTunes I can synchronise and so on.
Can somebody tell how I can change this behaviour?
The iTunes-option "Voorkom automatische synch.... van iPods, ..." --> "do not automatically sync ... iPods, ..." isn't enabled.
Many thx
GerdHmmm..uninstalled, reinstalled, ran Software Update...something patched in iTunes, now works like a charm
