Itunes 10.5 - under Vista seems to work fine

Installed it and it seems to display correctly, and I can see app store and finds my iPhone etc.
From messages it looks as if Windows 7 people are having some issues so I thought I'd say Vista seems to work fine.
hope I didn't curse myself

Okay, when I get home I'll see about that (generally a good thing to do). But since I have gone back to iTunes 10.4.x, and (not being regularly connected to the internet), is there an advantage for me to upgrade to iT 10.5.x (until I get an internet connection at home)? The Security Updates I can see more reason for doing. What will I gain (now) from upgrading to iT 10.5.1, other than iCloud features? (My iPod Touch won't run iOS 5, by the way).
And (preferably with some detail) what do you suspect necessitates running the drive repair? I like to understand not only what to do, but some of the why(s).
Thank you for the information.

Windows 8 or Windows RT? iTunes won't run on Windows RT. It should run on Windows 8. Use the appropriate installer from an account with administrator privileges.
    Windows System Requirements
PC with a 1GHz Intel or AMD processor and 512MB of RAM
Windows XP Service Pack 2 or later, 32-bit editions of Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
64-bit editions of Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8 require the iTunes 64-bit installer
    400MB of available disk space
Broadband Internet connection to use the iTunes Store

You can try using this tool to first remove all traces of Reader from your computer:
    http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html
Then, you can download the full offline Reader installer from
    http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/
After downloading, restart your computer and run the installer before doing anything else.

    Hey kbert73
I would do a transfer of purchases from the phone and not sync. If you sync then it will want to start over and sync music that is on the MacBook Pro. If you want to transfer the music, check out the article below that will give you multiple options on how to move. I have also provided on how to sync with multiple computers.

I have .me and .mac email accounts on my iPhone 4. I thought I had successfully transitioned from MobileMe to iCloud, but something must be wrong. iCloud seems to work fine on my computer and, with the exception of two email accounts, seems to be fine on my phone. Can/should I delete the accounts on my phone and start over? It is somewhat of a nuisance to have two email accounts and double the amount of emails. The only thing different about the two iCloud accounts is the email addresses. Thanks.

Well, seems I managed to unscrew this...I deleted my iCloud mail account and reinstalled it on my phone. That got rid of the duplicate .me/.mac email accounts.

    Most likely, water damage.
You can try putting your iPod in a tupperware, half filled (maybe half inch) with rice grains, close the cover for about a week.
If you have done this, as soon as it got wet, higher chances of success, now looks like the water moisture is getting to the LCD screen.
Then you can always bring it to Apple Genius bar, for a an overhaul. (may cost you half the price of a new iPod classic.)

Is the iPhoto library in your home folder, or have you moved it somewhere else?

  • My animate file seems to work fine locally, but the images aren't linked properly when I publish and post them to a web server.

I have an HTML5 animation that I am working on. When I preview it locally, it seems to work fine, but when I publish and post it on our web server, it doesn't seem to be able to find the images. The images are all in the images folder and it all seems to be pointing the right location, but it isn't showing up properly on the web server.
If anyone has any insight, I would greatly appreciate it.

The site runs fine offline. If I am watching it locally, it seems to be OK. The problem only occurs when I copy all of the content to the host. I have also checked to be sure that the images are in the correct folder and uploaded.
Here is one of the images that is definitely live, but is showing as unlinked/missing in the HTML5 version.

No it's not true.  It's one big practical joke being played on you by Apple.

MS exchange account on my iPhone and iPad doesn't capture sent mail when sent from iPhone or iPad! Everyting else seems to work fine. Can someone pleasse help?

iPhone and iPad use a different way of accessing the server.
I don't know the exact details, but we are using Zarafa instead of Exchange and have the same problem:
iPhone and the likes can connect to Zarafas z-push interface, which is some identical interface to the native Exchange interface, while the desktop e-mail application tries to interface with the web front end (via http) of the server.
These are completely different setups and it depends on the actual installation of the server to get this going.
So, you will most likely need different access parameters for the desktop - and the web mail feature has to be enabled on the Exchange server.
In my opinion using the web mail interface is just silly. On the other hand, the native protocol has less features comparedto the web front end, so you are somehow stuck with sins of the past.
    Good luck!

  • Itunes 8 seems to work fine

Related to Itunes 8 (8.0.0.35) it installed fine, although took a long time to install appearing to do everything more than once. It complained about Outlook running although it was not, attempted to shut it down and couldn't, and I shut the process down (I did not have outlook running nor was it listed in the Applications running on Vista, but was listed in the Processes running, so I shut it down). After this, Itunes loaded fine and all my Apps were still there, but it did not recognize the IPhone 3G (this is after a reset, as Itunes requires a reset when done)and I did not have the Iphone 3G plugged in during the Itunes update nor during the reset but plugged it in after. Also, my mouse and keyboard quit working. After the reset, I unplugged all the USB devices and plugged them back in (the IPhone 3G was NOT plugged in at this point)and this fixed the keyboard and mouse. Then when I plugged the IPhone 3G in the second time, Itunes recognized it and I was able to backup and Sync without an issue.
So far it appears to be working fine, although my backup is no faster that I can tell, but then again it never was slow.
I want to see if it fixes the problem with updates to Apps, or if the IPhone 3G OS 2.1 is needed to fix it, or if it gets fixed at all. The problem I refer to is when there is an update for one of my Apps I cannot install it either using Itunes (7.7.1.11) or on the IPhone 3G, getting some error message on Itunes (error code: 0xE800002E), and the IPhone 3G says you can install the next time you connect to Itunes, which of course is not true as you just get the same afore mentioned error message. I will see the next time there is an update to one of my Apps.

When I get the error I disconnent my iPhone, shutdown/restart the phone, reattached it, and then reinstall the app. I haven't had a problem yet doing it this way. I usually get the error when installing multiple apps at a time.
