iTunes 10.6.3 is as high as you can go with OSX 10.5 To use your iPhone 5 you will need iTunes 10.7 at least which in turn requires OSX 10.6.8 or higher.
1) Make sure your computer meets Snow Leopard technical specifications - http://support.apple.com/kb/SP575 This mostly means making sure it is an Intel Mac and has at least 1GB RAM (at least 2 GB is recommended). Go to the Apple in the upper left corner of any window to "About This Mac". Does it mention "PowerPC" (not Intel), or Intel? To check RAM continue to "More Info...". It should say you have at least 1GB of "memory".
2) Buy a Snow Leopard disc from Apple online

Alternatively you can buy from online retailers but anticipate paying much more than the original price which is the price still charged by Apple
3) Backing up your computer before upgrading is always a good idea.

Particularly:
Battery does not charge
Verify that the outlet being used is working.
Try another USB power adapter if available.
If no other USB power adapter is available, try connecting to a high-power USB 2.0 port (not a keyboard). The computer must be turned on and not in sleep or standby mode.
Try another USB cable if available.
iPhone or iPod touch displays the low-battery image and is unresponsive
If you see the image below, charge the iPhone or iPod touch with USB power adapter for at least 15 minutes.
You should see this image when iPhone or iPod touch begins to charge:
If the screen still displays the low-battery icon, try turning the iPhone or iPod touch off and then on again.

What was the exact error message you received? When you removed and re-installed iTunes, did you use the precise instructions in this Apple support document to walk you through the process?

There is no version of iTunes for Mac OS 9 that will work with the iPod mini. The last version of iTunes for Mac OS 9 is version 2.04, and that will only work with first and second generation full-size iPods, plus third-generation full-size iPods which are running version 2.0x of the firmware. All third-generation iPods and iPod shuffles can be used as an external hard disk in the Finder. Mac OS 9's iPod updater will only work with first and second generation full-size iPods.

I have a pc and now itunes doesnt work. I have removed and tried deleting itunes and reinstalling and doesnt work

I have a Pc and been running Itunes off of it for years. Now it doesn't work. It doesn't run stating it is missing something. I have deleted the itunes and reinstalled and have run the repair as well and it doesnt work. I am not pleased. I need help!

The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.

Lenovo System Update doesnt work under Winows 8

Hi,
I formated HD and installed Win8 on my SL500 (2746). I installed the newer version of Lenovo Update (5.02) but it detected Activie Protection System only. I read lenovo solution about it and i installed framework 3.5 not helped, Lenovo also wrote that it happend when proeviously it was ver 4.00 installed but i formated my disk before i installed SU.
I also can't installed hotkey manualy from site:

Have you tried an external keyboard and see if that works?
Try doing a power drain
Remove the Battery and AC adapter,
hold the power button down for at least 15 sec.
Plug in the AC adapter only and try turning it ON, As soon as you press the Power ON start hitting F2 to reach the BIOS set up.
Then press F9 then Enter, then F10 And press Enter
See if That will help

Itunes 10.7 update not working

I clicked on the update button in itunes, the Apple Software Update window appeared and downloaded the update, then started installing the update. It is still installing after over half an hour...it seems like it is stuck. The update is running, but it is not completing the update. I don't want to shut it down because then I won't have itunes at all. Not sure what to do. I have Windows 7 64 bit.

I've been trying to update since yesterday. I have my PC with Windows Vista Ultimate 64 bit. I don't even get as far as downloading. I select Update... and NOTHING HAPPENS.
I've been reading online about how a lot of people are having great difficulty syncing their iPhones after updating to 10.7. I'm considering holding off until I can verify with Apple the safety of doing so.

I have recently had an update from flashplayer on m old WindowXP with IE8 after trying to fix the problems it caused for my viewing of news channels and other sites like hulu.com and yahoo vids nothing works! I tried to restore my ipod touch with itunes and now it doesnt work!!

I restored my ipod touch 2g and now when i turn it on it goes to the apple logo and turns off and thats as far as i get.

It means the device is in recovery mode. You'll need to reconnect it to iTunes and restore it again.
You may need to connect it in recovery mode manually using the instructions in this Apple support document.
