ITunes 10.5 (Windows 7) - Update Problem

I am having trouble with the most recent update to itunes (10.5).  When I first downloaded it -- I couldn't get the Apple Store to load (the status bar only reached about 1/2 way) and then stopped trying to load.  That lasted about 2 days.  Now, I can't even get itunes to open.  Receiving following messages:
iTunes has stopped working.  Windows is looking for a solutions (searching).
Comes back with no solutions... Windows will alert you when a solution has been found.
I uninstalled 10.5 and reinstalled.  Same error's received.  Any help out there??
Thanks so much!
Carrie

Hi!! I finally found a solution
I´m Sure this one will work for everyone
-First you have to uninstall all Apple Software using Control Panel
-Download Unlocker Software from softsonic heres the link http://tinyurl.com/3e8gj2h
or google it
-Install Unlocker
-Go to Start and type this in search: %programdata%
-ProgramData window will open, so find apple folders
-Right click in each apple folder and find Unlocker in the options
-Choose Delete each apple folders (with unlocker program)
-Go to My PC, C Local Disk and find Program Files
-Look for Apple folders and Delete them (with Unlocker)
-Find a Folder (in Program Files) called Common Files
-Delete all Apple Folders (in common files) with Unlocker
- Empty your trash can (thats what i did)
-Reboot
-Install Itunes
Note: You can Reboot or use Safe Mode to use Unlocker if it doesnt work.
....and that's All
AFTER Days of frustration LOL
Good vibe, Love and Blessings for all!!

  • Itunes 1.11 windows 8 install problems, itunes 11.1 windows 8 install problems

I am running Windows 8 on a Dell XPS16 laptop and was using iTunes v 10 something.  When upgrading my iPhone 4S to IOS7 while connected to iTunes running on my PC, the upgrade indicated that I needed to upgrade my iTunes to v11.1 something (the latest version).  I proceeded to do this and the upgrade appeared to work OK.  However, when attempting to restart iTunes (after a reboot) all that happened was that the iTunes Software License Agreement window opened on my PC.  There are no buttons on the window, even after scrolling all the way to the bottom, and no option but to close the window.  So my current state is that I now no longer have a working iTunes on my PC.
I have tried many of the suggestions made to others who were also having problems with this upgrade.  Each time I downloaded, saved, ran or re-ran an upgrade, the install appeared to work fine and finished normally.  Each time the installation populates the \Program Files (X86)\iTunes folders and the properties of the iTunes.exe are as follows:
I thought this was to be a Windows 64 bit upgrade so I'm not sure why it gets put in "...\Program Files (X86)" as opposed to "...\Program Files".
I have tried all of the following and each time I just get the same license agreement window shown previously:
    1.  Followed an iTunes support link that indicated how to remove and cleanup all Apple software and then re-install iTunes by downloading it and using Run As Administrator to run the downloaded file iTunes64Setup.exe.
    2.  Tried to troubleshoot the .exe using the properties | compatibility | Run Compatibility Troubleshooter option - no luck.
    3. Numerous cycles of download and save the update, uninstall the old, install the new, install/repair the existing, etc.
Note that about a month ago, I allowed iTunes to upgrade itself to version 11.1... and the same thing happened as described above.  I spent many hours trying to resolve the issue and finally had to go back to ITunes 10 something.  I have, since that time, ignored any iTunes requests to upgrade but in a weak moment when upgrading my phone, I lost my head and let the upgrade proceed!  Hopefully someone has a solution to getting the Windows 8 64 bit upgrade working.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks, Henry.

  • ITunes 11 on Windows 8 transfer problem

Have followed Apple instructions on transferring to new PC. (Windows 8 Dell XPS; transferred via external drive.) Itunes files verified on new PC, but they will do not appear in the iTunes library. Only recently purchased selections from the Cloud appear in the library. How can I correct this problem?

    Have you read this section?
If your media folder has been split out from the main iTunes folder you may need to do some preparatory work to make it easier to move. See make a split library portable.
Often people don't have the library files on the external drive, just the media.
The important content to copy across is the iTunes Library.itl file from the main iTunes folder, not just the media. The playlists and everything else is in there. If you copy the entire iTunes folder from one machine to the other placing inside the <User's Music> folder on the target machine, and install iTunes, it should work. Alternatively you can copy the iTunes folder to a different location, say D:\iTunes if you have a modern computer with a small SSD system drive and a larger HDD intended for your data.
If your library was split on the old system then the library files should work anywhere, but the media folder should be on the same path it had previously which might require that you change drive letters around.

  • I have lost my itunes library after windows 7 update

My itunes library has disappeared, except for what I have purchased from the itunes store! All of the purchased music has a cloud next to each song requiring me to download again. I suspect this has happened as a result of a Critical Update from Windows 7, that occurred as I shut my computer down the night before last. I have already successfully completed a system restore point, prior to the update, but the library is still gone.
Anything else I can try, or do I have to just import all of my folders from windows folders again and start form sratch?

    See this post.

  • Windows 10 Update Problems

I have an HP Spectre x360 - 13-4003dx running Windows Home 10. I am experiencing many of the problems with Windows 10 that have been posted recently: Search does not work; Start does not work, so I can't get to the tiles/apps screen; clicking on Start generates a "Critical Error" message; Edge has disappeared from the toolbar; OneDrive folders have disappared; right-clicking on anything in the toolbar does nothing; touch seems to work, but swiping does not. I have done all the Windows updates, including the Cumulative Update released on August 5 (KB 3081424). I also did a BIOS update recommended by HP. Unfortunately, the updates have not fixed anything. Is any part of this HP-specific? Anyone else having a similar experience and found a solution?

Update: I spent 7 hours doing updates (Windows and HP) and searching for solutions, with no luck. I contacted HP Technical Support. That person spent almost an hour and a half working on it. In the end tech support suggested I roll back to 8.1, which I did without difficulty. The tech was vague about why I was having problems, but seemed to be saying that not all of of HPs drivers work well with Windows 10. This is frustrating and puzzling as I thought that the Spectre series wassupposed to be Windows 10 ready. My question now is, how do I know when it is safe to move back to Windows 10?  I am also not sure how long my free upgrade is valid.

  • Windows Update does not work, Windows Standalone Update Installer stops with error 0xc8000247 (Windows 7 Home Premium on Acer Aspire 1810TZ notebook)

I purchased a new notebook with Windows 7 in October. During the first weeks I uninstalled McAfee and replaced the harddrive. Since November Windows Update fails with error messages and defender does not start anymore. I made several virus scans (complete) with multiple antivirus programs but nothing showed up.
Since it took my days to install various software, I do not want to re-install W7. I also have no good backup that I could restore.
I am really surprised that there is not even a single entry regarding the error code in the Microsoft Knowledge base or elsewhere.
    I really would appreciate help.

I hit this same problem... I spent days trying to figure out what went wrong. MS advise of doing; Windows7 re-installs, BIOS/firmware updates, drivers changed, etc etc etc.
I installed a new(large) SEAGATE Momentus XT hybrid 750GB SATA drive upon newly purchased notebook, but the twist here is between the storage configuration mode in the BIOS, ATA vs. AHCI. See, the DELL BIOS required to configure my laptop storage for AHCI
mode, because I had the 4GB Intel Flash Cache Module (Turbo Memory) installed on the DELL Precision notebook. The Flash Cache is installed internally in the mini-pcie slot, loaded the Intel storage drivers, and when it works, is an outstanding feature which
    supports:
    Windows ReadyDrive*
    Windows ReadyBoost*
Looking at the details of the Intel storage drivers that support the INTEL TURBO MEMORY, they're from 2009. Of course it was recommended by users to install these drivers first before anything else, so it would function best, but this was part of the
cause to all the problems with Windows 7.  I've provided links to Intel Flash Cache info for those interested. Unfortunately, loading the HP/Intel Storage drivers fixes the Windows permissions/update problems, but "Breaks" the Intel Turbo Flash Cache
functionality now, even though Microsoft still supports ReadyDrive in Windows 7.
"Intel® Turbo Memory is a primary PC component, along with the CPU, chipset, and system memory. It caches large amounts of frequently used data or user selected applications for faster access by the processor. This decreases the need for hard-disk accesses,
saving both time and power, which equates to increased performance and energy efficiency. That's good news for users who run data-intensive software like media applications. It's also a good match to the substantial system requirements to load and run Windows
    Vista*.
Intel Turbo Memory is a single solution that accelerates data transfer both to and from the processor."
Intel discontinued support for the modules or drivers with the marketing move to producing their own SSD storage drives.

For me, I hit all the symptoms everyone else hit and thanks to humphrey for his find. I just wish Microsoft/Intel would get together and fix this Windows 7 issue between SW/HW; Large Drive Sizes, Licensing/Permissions, Flash Memory, ATA vs. ACHI, BIOS, etc.
There's been an incredible amount of loss productivity, resources, and costs incurred on this one ISSUE by everyone involved.

  • HT1926 Have the same problem as many other users: tried to update iTunes on Windows 7 today; first message "unable to locate component- MSVCR80.dll was not found" then "iTunes was not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes - Error 7 (Windows error 1

I have the same problem as many other users: updated iTunes on Windows 7 on Jan 26, 2014 and iTunes does not open.  First message "unable to locate component- MSVCR80.dll was not found" then "iTunes was not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes - Error 7 (Windows error 126)". When will Apple fix this? Don’t feel like uninstalling all Apple software and then re-installing it as suggested, as I am on a terribly slow internet connection while travelling in the DR Congo.

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall press on)
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.
    Please note:
Some users may need to follow all the steps in whichever of the following support documents applies to their system. These include some additional manual file and folder deletions not mentioned above.

  • TS1538 Problem with instal of the latest update of iTunes on my Windows 8 computer

I have installed the latest update of iTunes on my Windows 8 computer but now have a problem in that iTunes does not recogise my iPhone.  I get a message that I need a new version of "Apple Mobile Device Support".  However, I can't delete the old file?  I get a message saying "The older version of Apple Mobile Device Support cannot be removed.  Contact your technical support group."
    Any suggestions?

I've not had this problem since getting windows 8 but did previously use a free program from Microsoft called "windows install clean up" which I found online (at that time I needed to remove a stubborn QuickTime programe from windows 7).
May be worth a search for if you've got time. It worked amazingly before and remomved programs that otherwise refused to be unintalled!

Hi! I can't upgrade my iTunes 10.3.1.55 on my Windows XP 2002 SP3 to the latest version of iTunes. Got the message: "A problem has occured with the Windows Installer-package. A program needed for this installation could not be run." What to do?

Perhaps let's first try updating your Apple Software Update.
Launch Apple Software Update ("Start > All Programs > Apple Software Update"). Does it launch and offer you a newer version of Apple Software Update? If so, choose to install just that update to Apple Software Update. (Deselect any other software offered at the same time.)
If the ASU update goes through okay, try another iTunes install. Does it go through without the errors this time?

  • I have an iPhone 4 and tried to update to iOS6 but received an error message when trying to restore.  The phone is no longer recognised on iTunes (using my Windows PC).  I have reinstalled iTunes but this has not worked.  What can I do??

I have followed the instructions on the apple support pages and still cannot get my phone to work.  It continues to show the iTunes USB picture and is not recognised on my iTunes on the windows PC.  When I connect the phone to my iMac it shows no data and says I can restore to factory setting.  However if I do this will all my data be erased?  How do I get my phone and data back?  I have saved most of the photos that were on the phone but all my contact details and messages are stored and I really need to get them back!  Would have limited memory on the phone when trying to update caused this problem?

    C Mawle wrote:
Thanks.  I have followed all the instructions as recommended and nothing has worked so it looks like the restore/update may have been interrupted - would loss of internet connection do this?
Yes it would, possibly even brick it.
Have successfully connected my ipod nano with iTunes so looks like the device driver is working.
Can I use my ipod nano USB connector to check?
It is not much help to you, since the device that you need still not recognized.
Anyway looks like I may have to swallow the loss of data.  Have set-up a call for tomorrow with Apple support so will wait until after this before doing the factory restore!
Good luck, but if you expect miracle from that call good luck again.

  • I have been using itunes on my windows based pc for years but since installing the latest itunes update I have been getting the error message A required itunes component is not installed. Please reinstall itunes. (-42404)

I have been using itunes on my windows 64 bit laptop for years but since downloading the latest itunes 10.7 update whenever I opened itunes the error message 'A required itunes component is not installed. Please reinstall itunes (-42404)'
Itunes would still load and play music in my library and I could still sync my ipod but when loading a CD itunes would not recognise the album/tracks and I would need to type them manualing after uploading.
I have just bought the new iphone5 and went to sync the phone with itunes. itunes recognises the iphone when plugged in via the usb port or when wi fi is turned on but itunes will not allow the phone to sync.
I spent over an hour the other morning speaking to apple customer support and have ensured I have administer right and that UAC is turned off.
I was taken through msconfigure and adjusted the startup tab but still no joy.
In the end I was e-mailed instructions on how to uninstall and then reinstall itunes and component parts.
Now that I've uninstalled itunes when I try reinstalling I get the following messages during the download.
    The 1st message is;
'The installer has insufficient privileges to modify this file C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application  Support\Web kit.resources\inspector\Images\Spinner Inactive Selected.gif.'
    When I click ok the next message that appears sometime later during the install is;
Service 'Apple Mobile Device' (Apple Mobile Device) Failed to start Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services.
The options I have are to abort, retry or ignore. If I retry the same message comes back and if I  abort or ignore the download continues and I then get the following message:
'Apple Application Support was not found. Apple Application Support is required to run itunes Helper. Please uninstall itunes, then reinstall itunes again. Error 2'
After attempting to reinstall itunes only some components were installed however itunes would not open.
It would appear many people have experienced problems with this latest download!

'The installer has insufficient privileges to modify this file C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support\Web kit.resources\inspector\Images\Spinner Inactive Selected.gif.'
That one's consistent with disk/file damage. The first thing I'd try with that is running a disk check (chkdsk) over your C drive.
XP instructions in the following document: How to perform disk error checking in Windows XP
Vista instructions in the following document: Check your hard disk for errors
Windows 7 instructions in the following document: How to use CHKDSK (Check Disk)
Select both Automatically fix file system errors and Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors, or use chkdsk /r (depending on which way you decide to go about doing this). You'll almost certainly have to schedule the chkdsk to run on startup. The scan should take quite a while ... if it quits after a few minutes or seconds, something's interfering with the scan.
Does the chkdsk find/repair any damage? If so, can you get an install to go through properly afterwards?
