Itunes 10.6.1.1 Crashes on Startus

Recently whenever I attempt to open iTunes it instantly crashes. I am running Windows 7 64bit. I get a brief error message saying windows had detected a problem with the program then it force closes iTunes. This problem has been going on for approx. 2 weeks now. I have tried several re-installs of iTunes and I have this same problem. I tried the fix mentioned in another thread of removing quicktime files from syswow64 but that did not have any affect. I looked of the .wer from (app crash data for windows) the detailed crash data is as follows:

If anyone can give me any insight of what to do to fix this problem it would be greatly appriciated. I am about to buy The New iPad but don't want to untill I get this sorted out. Thanks in advance.

Many thanks.
Fingers crossed, your Windows 7 will have been recording some additional information about those.
First, open your Action Center and expand "Maintenance". Click "View reliability history":
Once the reliability report has been generated, look for Critical events for iTunesgenerated at the time of the "iTunes has stopped working" messages. Doubleclick the name iTunes in the critical events. (Don't click View solution.)
For example, here's a screenshot of my system showing what to click. (I don't have any iTunes critical events at the moment, so I'm using an Oblivion event to illustrate what we need to do.)
You should see something that looks like the following screenshot (only for iTunes, not Oblivion):
Copy and paste the contents of the problem report into a reply here. For example:

I noticed this problem, iTunes displayed my iphone, but crashed soon after, with the color spinning wheel.
I did the following things and it worked for me.
I downloaded the last version of itunes, remove iTunes.app with CleanApp, and all these files.
    /Library/Frameworks/iTunesLibrary.framework
    /System/Library/CoreServices/CoreTypes.bundle/Contents/Library/MobileDevices.bun dle

  • ITunes 10.2.1.1 Crashing in Windows 7 SP1 - My solution

I will first start off and say my solution isn't the prettiest girl at the dance but it will get you what you want.
Like most of you I spent the last couple weeks combing the Internet for answers but nothing works. iTunes would just stop working/crash whenever I connected my iPhone (3GS). So finally what I did was uninstalled iTunes, ran CCleaner to clean up my registry, rebooted and installed iTunes without all the bloatware (guide here: http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/28727/how-to-install-itunes-without-extra-bloat/).
The next thing I did before I started up iTunes was i backed up all my music, mobile apps, ringtones, etc on to an external hard drive so that i could have an untouched copy. After that I deleted the original directories and an library, preference or whatever files that had to do with the previous installations of iTunes. Then I copied all my music, mobile apps, ringtones, etc to a third location (my desktop) so that I can keep the external hard drive pristine.
After all that I opened iTunes and let it search my desktop for music to put in the library. After this was done I consolidated the files back to the original location on my NAS. Then I closed iTunes moved my mobile apps, ringtones, etc directories back to my iTunes folder on my NAS. I then went back into iTunes and connected my iPhone. I got a message that there was a new (iOS 4.3.1) update for the iPhone but I canceled that for now.
I sat there for about 10 minutes waiting for the Task Manager to show iTunes - Not Responding, but that never happened. I then went ahead and set iTunes to sync with the phone . I got a message saying that the phone wasn't synced to this library and that it will have to be erased and what not. My phone wasn't, but I am not sure your phone wont be. I clicked yes and then went thru the normal sync process of having the apps and everything backed up. After this was done I updated with the new 4.3.1. iOS and everything seems to be working fine now. It did take me about 3 days to do all this but i have a huge music library.
I might have missed a step or two but you get the idea. Someone screwed up somewhere and the new iTunes doesn't play nice with old library or preference files for some reason. Not sure if it was someone at Apple or MS, but it really doesn't matter because both companies should be able to prevent this.
I do not offer any support in this manner and the last thing I will say is be careful and make sure you backup everything often.

Hey, I have had my intunes soley shut down my computer numerous times, for the past month or so. I realize now it is only within my itunes, but it may not only be itunes. My desktop and a lot of cashed info have been cleared now, as a result of a ton of restarts by completely shutting the power most likely.
I have been too lazy to back up my music because it messes stuff up, and goes so slow it crashes. it will probably work better if I dont even touch itunes and just transfer small parts of my library at a time, not all 120+ gb!
I think a my computer is
               a fried
b my files are terribly corrupted
c or my itunes is compromised
either way, i will back up my music, but what do you think the chances are my music is the culprate, and by backing it up I will have the same problem in the future?
i've been thinking re-installing itunes would be best
    let me know....thanks

  • Itunes 11.1.5.5 crashes when playing a Music Video

Itunes 11.1.5.5 crashes when trying to play back one specific video that was purchased through ITunes. It played once just fine. Now it crashes Itunes with every attempt at playback. Other previously purchased music videos play just fine. Any suggestions? Even a backup copy has the same effect.
As a side note: With the same video on a 4th Generation Ipod Touch, The slider can be seen counting through the video, but there is no audio and only a dark screen. Yet, other purchased videos play just fine. Also, the crash occured on the previous version of Itunes.
Itunes 11.1.5.5 Running on Windows 8.1 with the current version of Apple's video player software (that I can't remember the name of although I have just updated it and Itunes).

Apple support seems to know nothing about why iTunes 11.1.5 has this problem.
Anybody know how to roll back to 11.1.4? The problem didn't exist there.

  • Itunes on windows 7 keeps crashing (64 bit)

I am having a huge problem with itunes 10.5.3.3.
When i am using itunes... it suddenly crashes and I get a message box saying "Itunes has stopped working". another box then appears saying "A problem casued the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available"
This can happen when i am adding new music to my library, either by adding as a folder or file.
It also happens when playing music through itunes.
Has anyone else experienced this and if so, have you solved it and what is the solution.
I have an iphone and ipod touch and i need to use itunes to get my music onto these devices.
I could use other software on the market to do this, but i want to use a stable apple itunes.
    Many thanks in advance.

Your iPad needs access to the internet via Wi Fi or 3G in order to access the App Store.
Tap the App Store icon in your iPad.
In the search field top right in the App Store window type in:
ipad user guide for ios 4.3. Tap Free / Get Book
As for Safari on your Mac crashing, you can start a new topic and post a crash report so we can try and help.
Click New / Discussion. Select Safari.
    Refine This LIst. Select Mac.
If Safari has just crashed, press the Report button on the CrashReporter dialog box to view the crash  information.
Now copy/paste the entire contents of the Crash Reporter window into your reply.
If the crash report dialog does not appear or the crash is hard to reproduce, crash logs can be retrieved from the ~/Library/Logs/CrashReporter> folder.
Safari could be crashing due to third party unsupported  add ons. Follow the troubleshooting instructions here.

  • Time Machine or iTunes causes Photoshop CS4 to crash?

My husband and I both have identical 20" iMacs (see my signature). He uses Photoshop CS4 daily and Photoshop will crash for no apparent reason we can find and he's lost a lot of work over the past couple of months. He saves his work a lot but this shouldn't be happening in the first place.
I've searched the forums and haven't found this particular problem discussed. The crashes seem to happen most often when either Time Machine is running a backup or when iTunes is open. There's no particular Photoshop command that he's using that seems to cause the problem. The crashes can also happen when neither iTunes nor Time Machine is running but seem to happen more often when one or the other or both are running.
Can someone point me in the direction I need to look to solve this? It's a really annoying problem. I'm going to post this to the Adobe forums too.
    Thanks
    Kim

It sounds like a coincidence, since it's not consistent with either TM or iTunes.
He should have "Crash Logs" for Photoshop that may contain a clue.
Use the Console app on his Mac (in the Applications/Utilities folder).
When it starts, click +*Show Log List+* in the toolbar, then navigate in the sidebar that opens up to the "Crash Reporter" folders (there may be 2 or more of them). Find the most recent for Photoshop. Copy and post the couple of pages of it in a new thread in the +Using Leopard+ forum, as you'll be likely to find more Photoshop users and folks who can read crash logs there, and perhaps on the Adobe forums as well.

  • HELP"apple application support not found when installing itunes after a hard drive crash and replace

HELP"   error "apple application support not found" when downloading itunes after a hard drive crash and replacement????

Let's try a standalone Apple Application Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of the issue.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR:
    http://www.rarlab.com/
Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleApplicationSupport.msi to do a standalone AAS install.
Does it install properly for you? If so, does iTunes launch properly now?
If instead you get an error message during the install, let us know what it says. (Precise text, please.)

  • HT1420 How do I deauthorize the use of itunes on computers which have crashed and are no longer accessible??

How do I deauthorize the use of itunes on computers which have crashed and are not accessible??

Individual computers can only be deauthorised directly on them, but if you have 2 or more computers authorised then you can log into your account on your computer's iTunes (Store > View My Account) and 'deauthorise all' (which you can do once every 12 months) and you can then authorise/reauthorise the computers that you still have and need : authorising and deauthorising.
Deauthorising a computer doesn't remove any content from it, it just means that you can't use iTunes content on it until you reauthorise it.
