ITunes 10.6.1.7 after install error
I have installed the latest update to 10.6.1.7 it was successful but I now get the following error "a required iTunes component is not installed. Please repair or reinstall iTunes (-42404). I have done both repaired and reinstallation. Still getting the error. This is windows 7 clean installation was done 3 days ago because of HD failure.
Ok, I found that if you follow the steps EXACTLY in support document HT1923, it corrects the issue. I also used a program call Perfect Uninstaller to help me clean all registry entries. The support document says you can do it with regular windows uninstall but I happen to like this program. I can't stress enough you have to follow the steps exactly though and make sure you look at each listed entry in the system files, I did find one that I had to manually remove after all the uninstalls were finished.

Why won't iTunes 10.6.3 work after installing Mountain Lion?
Instead of downloading from Apple updates on my computer, I went to apple.com, loaded it from there and the update worked fine.

ITunes 10.2.2 won't install - Error message about Windows Installer package
I ran a prompted update on iTunes for 10.2.2 for Windows Vista, and it completely wrecked itself. iTunes would no longer open, and it said that the shortcuts no longer existed.
I have tried uninstalling iTunes and all traces of it, and re-installing it, but keep getting an error msg that says "Problem with this Windows Installer package. A program required could not be run." I even tried a previous version of iTunes (10.1) and got the same error.
Can anyone help with this?I had the same problem with updating my itunes. I spent hours trying to figure out how to fix it
After updating my windows 7 and fixing all the "corrupt" files, what seems to finally work for me was this
Go to add or remove programs in the control panel, on Windows 7, just go to start, control panel, and then uninstall a program. Find Apple Software Update on the list, and click on repair. Once that is done, try to download iTunes again and it should work. -
Itunes wont open. After installing it, It wont open. It only comes up with an itunes software licence agreement then it disaperes and nothing happends? any sujestion will be greatly apreciated.
hi Shaun!
after installing the update for iTunes, it doesn't run (comp makes noises but nothing comes up on screen). when i open task manager itunes is running as a process, but i can't end process.
hmmm. okay, Norton is still our prime suspect here. that "running itunes.exe process that will not die" symptom is associated with the nastier versions of the NIS 2005 launch suppression problems. (people who get that also often see things like looooooong sloooooow shutdown times on the PCs and odd end program dialog boxes.)
let's try throwing the trusty Lorraine M technique at the beast. (it usually fixes the nastier versions of the NIS 2005 problems.)

ITunes 7 doesn't open after install
I'm a music major, and I had heard great things about the new iTunes, but I installed it successfully, and I cannot open it whatsoever. It's kind of killing me. I NEED to have my music!!! Can someone please help me? What's up with this?
I upgraded to itunes 7 as well and the icon has appeared on the desktop but I cannot open it. When ever I click it nothing happens...any tips???
replying to ailbhe
some preliminary questions.
a few questions before proceeding.
are you getting an error message? if so, what does it say? include error message numbers if you're getting any.
or are you getting no error messages whatsoever when you try to launch itunes?
if you're getting no error messages whatsoever, do you just see the wee hourglass for a few seconds, and then nothing? if so, do you also have Norton Internet Security 2005 installed on that PC?
or are you seeing a brief "flash" of the itunes license screen (and then nothing)? if so, do you also see similar behavior when you try to launch your QuickTime? -
Itunes store app is empty after instaling IOS 7
after instaling IOS 7 the itunes store app is empty. Allready tried reseting and worked once but after reinitiating the app all blak again...
Just had the same problem hasn't worked since I updated. Tried resetting, and tried changing the saved cookies from always to just third party and STILL didn't work. However checked my pop up blocker which was on and turned it off just to see if it would work and it did... Not sure if this will work for anyone else but it's another thing to try! Go into settings-safari and it should be there. Hope this helps!

Itunes won't launch after installing - error
I've tried intalling and reinstalling different versions iTunes, including 7.6.2 up to the latest version. They all seem to install fine, but when I try and launch iTunes I get the following error message:
'The folder 'iTunes' cannot be found or created, and is required. The default location for this folder is inside the 'My Music' folder.'
I'm running Windows XP, with Service Pack 3 installed. Any advice from anyone?
ThanksHello
By any chance when you go to My Documents - My Music. Does the My Music folder
1. Exist?
2. Does it have a music note on it?
If it does so far everything looks good.
If you followed the previous articles posted earlier. I would like to recommend one last article. Which will assist with a full clean up of Apple Software and folders.
Hopefully you will only need to use this article as a last resort. Incase other options posted are not leading anywhere.

ITunes 10.1.1 for Windows XP, after install errors out with messages
Installed iTunes 10.1.1 (released Dec. 15) for Windows XP 32-bit. Tried to start it but got error message as follows:
1) "This application has failed to start because VideoToolbox.dll was not found. Re-installing the application max fix this problem."
2) Then another errors pops-up:
"iTunes was not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes".
Error 7 (Windows error 126).
I de-installed and re-installed iTunes about 8 times, including restarting the computer and no resolution.
Today I downloaded iTunes again from the web site and it still has problems.
Any ideas on how to resolve this problem?
Thanks!Taken at face value, you've got trouble with an Apple Application Support file. (iTunes needs a properly functioning Apple Application Support program file in order to work correctly.)
I'd try the instructions from the following post. Although it's for 32-bit Vista/7, it's pretty much identical for XP ... just read "Uninstall a program" control panel as "Add or remove programs" control panel, and "Computer" as "My Computer".

Can you launch iTunes from the Applications folder?
If it won't launch from the Applicaitons folder, run Disk Utility to rule out any problems with the startup disk.
Launch Disk Utility /Applications/Utilities
Select the startup disk in the panel on the left then select the First Aid tab.
Click: Verify Disk (not Verify Disk Permissions)
Boot from your install disc to make any necessary repairs.

ITunes + Quicktime won't run after install
I did an automatic upgrade to ITunes verson 8 from 7. After the upgrade, neither iTunes nor Quicktime would work. I then proceeded to do a complete uninstall of both items, to include deleting all directories and cleaning the registery so I could complete a fresh install of both items. After the fresh install, iTunes would work IF (and only if) it was started by the installation script. If I try to start iTunes after the installation, windows pops a window that says "Please wait while Windows configues iTunes," after which it prompts to restart the PC. This happens EVERY time. That is, iTunes will run ONE TIME correctly when it's started by the installation process at the conclusion of a fresh install, but it will not run again. Each time I get the windows message.
Quicktime will not run at all. It gives the error message "Error 41: Could not load or find the QuickTime ActiveX control." However, I can open the Quicktime preferences from the Control Panel.
I get no errors or any indications that the installation process had problems or that the items did not install correctly.
I'm running 32-bit Vista with SP1.
Any ideas would be appreciated.Bump to top.

Itunes won't recognize iPod after installing MediaMonkey..
Hi,
I recently switched from Itunes to MediaMonkey, and I'm very happy. But my girlfriend still uses iTunes. And now her iTunes won't recognize neither her or my iPod when I connect either of them. Windows and MediaMonkey recognizes them perfectly. iTunes just comes up with this error message:
"The software necessary to communicate with iPod isn't correctly installed. Install iTunes again before installing iPod-software."
I've tried uninstalling and re-installing iTunes a number of times. I even tried uninstalled MediaMonkey, but nothing works..
PLEASE HELP ME, I'M GOING INSANE HERE =(Have you tried working through the steps in this article, in the order listed?
