  • Itunes 10.5 update installation problem

I was trying to update my itunes 10.5,after downloading it from apple store successfully,an error occured during the installation stage. It shows 'There is a problem with this Windows Installer Package. A program required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package vendor.
What should i do? I must remove itunes before installing 10.5?

Having lots of issues,.. and rather disconcerted by apple today.
1.) Downloading 10.5 itunes succeeded but then would not install on a brand new dell... apparently something is missing on my computer (but that is all the information your software gave me so i am having to uninstall itunes and backup my library... we all know what happens when you dont!)
2.) Brand new 4.5 Iphone with cute minisim did not transfer my contacts, and wont find signal... I guess the sim transfer isnt fool proof.. to be honest, if I can tell the phone to call jimbob in New York, why isnt there a voice command on start up or something automated to make sure the sims transfer from old to new.
Hastle time and money all for the Apple religion. Great when it works, but why am I left doing this chore.. I kind of miss the good old days of 3G when it did what it said it would.

  • ITunes 11.1.4 installation problem

Along with a lot of other users I had problems yesterday with the installation of update 11.1.4 on my windows7 64bit computer. After a lot of frustration getting nowhere I resorted to 'phoning Apple Support. Despite all the postings on discussion groups the guy there told me I was the first to report the problem and he had no knowledge of it. and they would 'phone me back this morning at 09.45 gmt today.
Following yesterday's call I decided to do a system restore to iTunes 11.1.3. iTunes didn't work immediately but only after an iTunes repair in the uninstall software screen.
The call came from Apple this morning and even now the Apple girl told me that she had no knowledge and she did not have aproblem with 11.1.4. I find this totally amazing and I think they need to get their act together. Why did they not pull the update when there were so many problems? Perhaps they don't read information posted in discussion groups.
The Apple assistant seemed surprised when I told her I would be sticking with11.1.3!!

It is a big company. I'm not entirely surprised if it takes time for information about a new and evolving situation to be understood and updated advice to be delievered to front-line support.
For anyone who has had trouble installing iTunes 11.1.4.62 and wants to get iTunes functional again, read on...
Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall press on)
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.

  • ITunes 10 later version installation problem

I am using Windows 7 home edition 64 bit.
I cannot use my iTune 10 with my iPhone 3GS and I cannot install iTune 10 newer later versions.
iTune version 10 cannot be used/synchronised - no file transfer/updates.
Says "Cannot uninstall Bonjour" when I tried to update iTunes later version.
Any known issues and how to go about it.
    Help appreciated.

But when it comes to start update/installation - it continues to prompt to locate the quicktime.msi and itune.msi files and when I did - the installation refuses to continue - and continue to prompt to locate the installation files - .msi files.
    (1) Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility installer file (msicuu2.exe) from the following Major Geeks page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):

(If you're on a Windows Vista or Windows 7 system and you get a Code 800A0046 error message when doubleclicking the msicuu2.exe file, try instead right-clicking on the msicuu2.exe file and selecting "Run as administrator".)
    (3) In your Start menu click All Programs and then click Windows Install Clean Up. The Windows Installer CleanUp utility window appears, listing software that is currently installed on your computer.
    (4) In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
Next, select any QuickTime entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
    (5) Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

  • Variant on Vista (32) iTunes 8.1 installation problem--admin rights

As usual, it appears Apple's first release of a new iTunes version is creating many problems. In my case, with both Apple Software Update and direct download, the installer reports that it has insufficient access to the iTunes program folder and that I should log on as an admin or contact my system admin. Of course, I am the admin and actually ran the installer, using the right-click Run as Administrator option.
Upon cancellation of the installation, the installer doesn't exit properly and iTunes won't open, but restarts the installer until I shut down and reboot.

    Hello, Welcome to Apple Discussions.
I am sorry to read that you are unable to successfully use iTunes today. Below is some information that may offer further assistance. Please post back if you require further assistance from the community.
iTunes for Vista comes in two versions depending on which version of Windows Vista you have.
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/ 32 bit edition
    http://support.apple.com/downloads/iTunes8_1_for_Windows__64_bit 64 bit edition
You mentioned you are the Admin & even ran as an administrator and Vista still denied permission to access and install. Have you tried to temporarily disable User Access Control?
You can access this via Control Panel - User Accounts - Turn user account control on/off - Uncheck the box, apply, reboot, and install iTunes.

  • I get this error when I try to install iTunes 10.7: "The installer has encountered an unexpected error installing this package. This may indocate a problem with this package. The error code is 2203."

I am running Windows 7 64bit. I downloaded the latest version of iTunes and ran the installer. This message pops up, I click OK and the installation continues. Then, when I try to launch iTunes I get this: "iTunes was not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes. Error 7 (Windows error 5)". I have also received this error message even when the installation hasn't had any problems. I have uninstalled, reinstalled, restarted, repaired my .net framework,  uninstalled all components following the steps in Article: HT1923 http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923 all to no avail. It still won't run. It was working perfectly before I updated it to 10.7. After that it all went to crap. I even tried installing the previous version and still get this error message. Any suggestions?

Okay ... so it's not one of the cases of bodged up ACLs on the Apple folder in Common Files. (That's been underlying a few of the recalcitrant E7W5s.
Just in case, let's try the fixit from the following document:

Go to START > ALL PROGRAMS > Apple Software Update. If it offers you a newer version of Apple Software Update, do it but Deselect any other software offered at the same time. Once done, try another iTunes install

  • ITunes 12.1.1 installation errors and resolution (Win 7, 64 bit)

I am providing all of the installation errors I had experienced
and all of the methods I had tried until I finally came up with a solution.
Hopefully the details will help you see if your situation has similarities
which hopefully will make this post helpful in terms of a solution.
    PART ONE: INSTALLATION ERRORS
I received the following installation errors
when attempting to update to 12.1.1
and later once I uninstalled and attempted to reinstall 12.1.1.
I used this link for the download:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/?cid=wwa-us-kwg-music-itu
    > itunes 6464setup.exe
    I then tried this link:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1614
    > itunes 12.1.1 64 bit
    Again 6464 in the name.
    After uninstalling the iunes,
    I discovered under add/remove programs:
    apple application support 32 bit
    and apple support update
I deleted these and restarted the PC.
I then tried reinstalling a NEW version
    from the second link above.
    Opened download iTunes 6464setup.exe >
Windows installer> iTunes > welcome to itunes
    > next > installation options > install > user account control
    > yes > next > (error message via pop-up window):
    ERROR MESSAGE ONE
"An error occurred during installation of assembly Microsoft VC80 CRT Type ="win32",

    (error message via pop-up window):
    ERROR MESSAGE 2
"Service 'Apple Mobile Device Service' (Apple Mobile Device Service)
failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient permission to start system services"
    SIDE NOTE
There was a USB cable connected to the PC to charge the iPhone,
but the iPhone was not connected. I detached the USB cable from the PC in case it's relevant.
(I did not reattach the USB cable until I finally got a copy of itunes to install. You will see later in this post below.).
    I then clicked Retry.
    ERROR MESSAGE 2 AGAIN
I received the identical 'Apple Mobile Device Service' error as above.
    I then clicked Ignore.
    iTunes > Status
    > User Account Control pop-up window)
    > Do you want to allow to install Apple iTunes>
    Yes >
    > Congratulations > Finish
    > (iTunes pop-up error window):
    > iTunes Helper
    ERROR MESSAGE 3
    a)
"Apple Application Support was not found.
Apple Application Support is required to run iTunes.
Please uninstall iTunes and install iTunes again.
    Error 2 "
    > (iTunes pop-up error window)
    > iTunes
    b)
"Apple Application Support was not found.
Apple Application Support is required to run iTunes.
Please uninstall iTunes and install iTunes again.
    Error 2 (Windows Error 2)"
    > OK > OK
    ERROR MESSAGE 4
I received all of these errors above
when I had tried a fresh install before returning to the forum to search for answers.
When I had first tried a fresh install, I didn't get as far as the Congrats.
I only got as far as the first and second error listed above
("An error occurred during installation of assembly Microsoft VC80 CRT Type ="win32"...
AND Service 'Apple Mobile Device Service' (Apple Mobile Device Service").
Clicked on iTunes icon on desktop
    ERROR MESSAGE 5
I receive the (iTunes pop-up error message window)
error 2 windows error 2 (identical to what's listed listed under 3b).
    PART 2 - INSTALLATION RESOLUTION
    The issue finally is resolved.
    HERE IT IS!!!
    1) Uninstall iTunes
    2) check remaining Apple programs
(click control panel > programs > uninstall)
    > check the listed Apple programs
    Apple Application Support 32 bit,
    Apple Mobile Device Support,
    Apple Software Update,
    Bonjour
    3) Locate and save the correct file version of iTunes for your OS and System.
In my case, it's Win 7.
You must check for the System Type.
Computer > right click to properties > system type.
In my case its 64 bit.
The 32 bit installer is named iTunesSetup.exe,
while the 64 bit installer is named iTunes64Setup.exe.
I learned that some folks had experienced issues with
the 64 bit installer on the Apple site whether it's
because they had downloaded the 32 bit
when they needed the 64 and therefore
couldn't complete the install or in my case,
what appears to perhaps be a corrupted file that stated 6464 in the .exe file name.
This lead me to believe that finding the file with the correct file name and
correct file size to prove it authentic for that version would likely be part of
the solution if not the solution. File Hippo is one suggested means to locate the file.
I locate the iTunes download "iTunes64Setup.exe" that matched the size of the file
to a valid copy of that version of ITunes and I set it aside.
    4) I then made sure that all old copies
and remnants of iTunes and Apple software
has been uninstalled by checking add/remove.
    Then C: program files
and then C: program files (x86),
    then running CC Cleaner,
then cleaning the registry using CC Cleaner
and then checking Tools under CC Cleaner.
***I discovered under Tools that there were remaining Apple files listed
after the uninstall of iTunes and other files had taken place under iTunes***
I visit tools under CC Cleaner and deleted the remaining Apple files
including Apple Application Support, Mobile Device Support, and Bonjour,
***but I leave the Apple Software Update folder as is, in tact***
under C: Program files (x86) and Tools of CC Cleaner and under Add/Remove.
    5) I restart the computer, install the new copy of iTunes 12.1.1 (64 bit),
iTunes64Setup.exe, and it installed with zero errors.
Hope someone will find this useful. Good luck.

Try the "for older video cards" version.
For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
The further information area has direct links to the current and recent builds in case you have problems downloading, need to revert to an older version or want to try the iTunes for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) release as a workaround for installation or performance issues, or compatibility with QuickTime or third party software.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there are also links to backup and recovery advice should it be needed.

  • Quicktime installation problem

after doing a system restore my itunes will not open says itunes has encountered a problem and needs to close. i am sure its to do with quicktime as i have uninstalled itunes then reinstalled but when quicktime downloads a error message comes up saying quicktime has not been installed proberly. i have tryed to remove quicktime from my computer but it will not delete keeps saying fatal error during installation ?? can anyboby help, i've tryed troubleshooting pages but this problem is not there ??

With this one, it is usually best to do a complete removal of iTunes and Quicktime with installer cleanup, then a phased reinstall.
    Here is the method:
Download a fresh copy of iTunes and the stand alone version of Quicktime
    http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/win.html
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Download and install Microsoft Installer cleanup utility, there are instructions on the page as well as the download. Note that what you download is the installer not the program – you have to run it to install the program
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301/
Now use the following method to remove iTunes and its components:
    XP
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93698
    Vista
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=305409
If you hit a problem with one of the uninstalls don't worry, carry on with the deleting of files and folders as directed in the method.
    Restart your PC.
Run the Microsoft Installer Cleanup Utility. (Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up)
Remove any references you find to the programs you removed - strictly speaking you only need to worry about those programs where the uninstall failed.
    restart your PC
Install the stand alone Quicktime and check that it works.
    If it does, install iTunes.

  • ITunes v7.0.2 - installs but won't set up

    Hey guys,
I seem to have the same problem some other people on here have, I've just had a newer ipod that requires latest ITunes, it downloads, it installs, and then it just sits there and none of the files will respond to anything further, and it won't enter the Setup stage (not even the ITunes Helper file will respond).
I've downloaded it to my dad's laptop and it functions fine on there (but not so great as not my computer with my library!), so I can't figure out what's wrong.
I've tried everything I can think of:
    -the computer meets the min requirements;
    -the software (and MS Installer software) are allowed on my firewall;
    -I've tried msconfig to weed out any conflicting programs (and setting up a new, clean user account to see if system wide) - nothing;
    -I've checked for viruses that might affect it;
    -checked the file path
    -etc, etc, etc
I'm stuck - anyone able to help? Suggestions on a postcard (or here) please.
Any help would be much appreciated!

hmmmm. well, at least we've ruled out one of the most common causes of that. (NIS 2005 interference.)
let's check on another few things.
    (1) try launching your QuickTime. does it:
    (a) launch perfectly fine?
    (b) fail to launch with an error message? (if so, what does it say?)
    (c) exhibit other peculiar behavior? (if so, could you describe it for us?)
    (2) reboot the PC. bring up your Task Manager, and click on the "Processes" tab. now try to launch itunes again.
does an "itunes.exe" process appear in the Processes tab? if so, does it persist in there or does it disappear after a few seconds?
