Itunes 10.6.1 won't detect iphone

I just tried to update my software and not only can I not connect to my phone anymore but Itune won't detect my phone at all now, so I am sitting here like a freak with no phone, Help!

Make sure you check the Apple Mobile Device Service as described in steps 2 & 3 at the bottom of this article: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1538.  This is often the issue on a Windows computer.  It also could be a failing usb to doc cable or a dirty connector on the bottom of your phone.  Also be sure you aren't connecting through a usb hub; connect directly to a usb port on your computer.

  • ITunes 10.3.1 won't detect iPhone. What can I do?

I've attempted to uninstall and reinstall iTunes 10.3.1 several times since the program does not recognize any idevice I've plugged into my computer. I'm on Windows 7 SP1. Despite my best efforts, I cannot get iTunes to recognize the device.
    Fixes I've attempted:
    - Uninstall/reinstall iTunes
    - Unplugged all other USB devices
    - Checked to make sure all USB cords are working and secure.
    - Unintall iTunes, delete app data in user/AppData/Local/Apple
    - Check to make sure USB driver is updated.
    - Went into Windows services to make sure Ipod Service, Bonjour Service, and Apple Mobile Device services are all on automatic start-up.
    - Turned off Anti-Virus & Firewall to test if those were the issues.
My iPhone 4 shows up within Windows explorer as an unspecified device. I've going through explorer to check the driver it's using to recognize it, and it does use the Apple Mobile Device USB driver.
I'm kind of at my wit's end here. One thing I've notice is that even after unintalling and removing any remains in the program files folder, when I re-install, iTunes remembers the location of my music (which is on an external drive). I have no deleted my library file, as I'm not sure if this has anything to do with this issue. Any advice would be apperciated.

After several uninstalls/reinstalls, I consistently get this message:
    iTunes Setup Assistant
    Warning!
The Bonjour service has been disabled. Bonjour is required for sharing music with others, playing music through AirPlay speakers, connecting to Apple TV, and using the iPhone and iPod touch Remote. Re-enable the service in Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Services.
Unfortunately, I've gone into Services already only to discover that Bonjour is already running (and starting automatically. I have a hunch that because Bonjour is not working it is the reason behind my iPhone not being detected. I've downloaded the separate download of Bonjour (http://support.apple.com/kb/DL999) but it had no effect. Likewise Renvo Uninstalled did not work (I have a hunch you're trying to promote a product here anyway whiskycollector).
Let's keep looking for an answer!

  • Computer won't detect iphones

Why won't my computer detect iphones? I know for a fact that it isn't the cables OR the the USB ports, so don't even try with that. I have tried all the ports and I know my cable works, I have it plugged into a wall right now. I have tried with my own iphone, and two of my friends tried as well. My computer just will not detect them.

  • Itunes 11.2.2 will not detect iphone 5

New update on itunes will not allow me to detect my iphone when plugged in.
i have checked the usb, unistalled/reinstalled itunes, and itunes is up to date.
    please help.

I'm having the same issue with my new iphone 5s and itunes 11.2.2. I've started another thread on this issue and it was suggested to me to check out the following page: iOS: Unknown error containing '0xE' when connecting to a Windows PC
I've gone through the suggested steps and still no joy, but maybe you'll have more luck than me. Has anyone else found a solution to this problem?

You're most likely connecting a mobile device with a USB cable that is either faulty or incompatible. Try another cable and disconnect all other USB devices. The device itself, the USB port on the Mac, or another device on the bus could also be at fault.

Hey guys, same problem here...usb driver missing specified file, but don't know what the file may be. I have two drivers for Apple USB driver one being from 07/2010, and the other 09/2010 niether work with iTunes 10.1. I finally got so frustrated that I called ATT support, but to no avail. I also tried uninstalling, and going oldversion.com for a previous version of iTunes, to no avail. I keep seeing the new hardware has been, but the specified file not found. This would start everytime I hooked the iphone to pc. I finally just set my pc back to old condition using a backup on slave drive...issues with iphone getting worse, guess they want you to fork out the money for iphone 4...think i'll switch to ANDROID!

  • ITunes won't detect iphones at all? Running Windows 7 - 64 bit

I have two iPhone's. One is a 4 and the newer one is a 4S.
Neither will detect in itunes for some reson and I can't locate in the settings where to make it search for them.
The USB socket knows they are there as it makes the did did noise as they connect and disconnevt each tiem?
    Please help !!!

I have the exact same problem after last upgrade to 10.5 safari, now iTunes and Safari can't load any sites and I can't load iTunes app store.
With those symptoms, I'd check the following document:
iTunes 10.5 for Windows: May see performance issues and blank iTunes Store
(Itunes uses the same webkit rendering engine for the store as Safari does for rendering web pages, so the same sort of things that can cause a blank Store can also cause a blank Safari.)

  • Itunes 12.1.2 freezes when detecting iPhone in windows 7

    Hello!
I've just reformatted my laptop and installed windows 7 home.
did all the windows update, downloaded the latest iTunes 12.1.2 from Apple site.
installed successfully. and is able to launch and play music. i've added in only one song to the library to just test.
Here's the problem i'm facing now.
    - iTunes freezes if i tried to going to preferences via Edit > Preferences.
    - iTunes freezes when my iPhone 6 (iOS 8.1) is plugged in. the iPhone appears under my computer, but iTunes is unable to detect/freezes.
    tried these methods
    - iTunes: May become unresponsive when connecting iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support
    - re-installing iTunes multiple times, restarted my iPhone multiple times
    - running iTunes on safe mode, but i doubt this will make any difference since there are no plugins installed.
    - phone does not have any podcasts/videos
    - tried running iTunes in compatibility mode
    - cable used is original apple cable
    - created another windows user account, same problem persist.
    - tried all 3 USB ports
    - uninstalling apple device drivers and installing
    - tried to revert back to iTunes 11.4 or older iTunes 12 version, but encounter installation errors with Apple Mobile Device.
    findings
    - iTunes 12.1.2 is able to detect my phone on windows8.1 (office machine)
    - able to access iPhone under my computer to retrieve images/videos
    - able to charge iPhone via USB
    - running iTunes diagnosis states that iTunes is unable to detect any iPod/iPhone/iPad when my iPhone 6 is plugged in
    - using iTunes with iPhone had been no issue before the windows re-installation with iTunes 11.4 (if i never remembered the version wrongly, it's the red icon iTunes)
    - Apple mobile device is working fine when i've checked under services.
    - Under device manager, the apple mobile device is shown up in the USB list
would be grateful for any help! been trying to get this fixed to do a backup and sync my other stuffs.
    thanks in advance!

  • Itunes 11.0.2 won't sync iphone(iOS 6.1.2) or ipod(iOS 5.1.1)

Since I upgraded to iTunes 11.0.2 I am not able to sync my music with my iPhone 4. At first I thought it was a bug in iOS 6.1.2, but today i tried to sync my iPod Touch (3º gen) with iOS 5.1.1 and it has the same problem. iTunes syncs my apps, but when it gets to music it just finishes the sync. I restored my iPhone, and now i have the same iPhone (with the backup copy) but without music, since it does not sync.

I also could not sync music after updating to iTunes 11.0.2. Today I lost a few hours of my life fixing it, but in my case the fix was banal and annoying. In Itunes>Preferences>Devices there is a box "Prevents iPods, iPhones, and iPads fro syncing automatically". I unchecked it and all is well. I am sure that I did not check the box in the first place, so it must be a default or the result of importing settings when updating.
