ITunes 10.6.3.25 Hangs during sync

When syncing after adding or removing videos ITunes intermittently hangs on waiting for items to be copied. Is this a known issue with the IPhone4s 32GB. I created a dump file and reviewed without finding any problems. I've de-installed, re-installed and all the other standard trouble shooting procedures. Any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated...
Thanks,
Andy

Hey thanks for replying.
Here's what I did:
First I tried the Winsock reset in the Command prompt. Nothing changed.
Next, I tried the instructions on http://http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4123. The only other program that came up on the 'Winsock Providers' tab on the program was 2 Windows Live applications, which I can do without. So I deleted all Windows Live Applications.
I did the Winsock reset in the Command Prompt again and rebooted my comp.
Unfortunately, nothing has changed. iTunes keeps freezing at various stages of the sync, then shows the candy cane-striped bar with either the words 'Finishing sync' or 'Cancelling sync', before showing the Apple logo.
Sometimes, iTunes gets to the syncing stage - "Copying # of ####" - where it will trudge through the first, second and third tracks before flashing "Copying 4 of ####" for a split second and I catch "Cancelling sync" briefly before the Apple logo appears.
Again, I've repeated the steps I mentioned in my previous post. Does ANYONE know when the new version of iTunes is set to be released?! This one is driving me INSANE, to say the least!!

  • ITunes 11.3 hangs during syncing

I'm having trouble syncing with iTunes 11.3.  It gets the "syncing calendar" stage and just stays there.  I left it for several hours.  I can cancel out of it, but my calendar is not synced.  I tried turning off automatically syncing, but it does the same thing when I sync manually.  I also tried totally removing all of the apple installs and reinstalling and that didn't make any difference.
This worked fine in the past.  It's only since iTunes updated itself that I started having trouble.

Alright, thank you for the update. You should next look for an 3rd party plugins that may be causing an issue, with this article:

If the issue persists you can download and install the latest version of iTunes directly from our website, then restart the computer and test again:

  • "iTunes has stopped working" error message during syncing

I've downloaded the latest version of iTunes, and just started to download Podcasts. But now I get the error message during syncing....almost everytime. Is there a solution out there or update that I haven't downloaded??

Same problem here! Moreover, for some reason, the pictures in my iPhone 3GS somehow have been divided into 2 folders, Photos and Medialibrary. And when I open iPhone as a folder through the explorer I can see only the Photos folder, but cannot see the Medialibrary folder which stores the photos taken before updating/upgrading the iPhone and getting separated folders!!! What the hack with all of this?!!! When I connect iPhone to PC it automatically opens iTunes and starts syncronizing it, but at the process of OPTIMIZING the photos (and according to the number of photos it shows, I see that it tries to syncronize that invisible Medialibrary folder) the process suddenly stops and error message pops out Tried the sync test, tried the button DEBUG in that pop out message, but NOTHING HELPS!!! Also, when I open the Medialibrary in my iPhone, the screen get sblack all through scrolling it down, only the video clips are shown there... >.<
So, could you, apple developers, please, explain WHAT THIS PROBLEM IS ABOUT?!!!!!! FIX IT! I am getting ****** of to spend hours at the computer and reading those lame advises which do not help at all! I have my own things to do except reading your support websites. And I payed for the product ready to use, but not a halfproduct which problems should further be solved somehow by users..

  • Why dose iTunes 10.4.1.10 crashes during sync in windows 7?

I have an issue with iTunes 10.4.1.10, apparently it crashes just before the sync process finishes. It all started after the last iTunes update. Running windows 7 64bit, what are my options to correct this issue?

Same thing is happening to me when I sync my ipad2 with iTunes 10.4.1.10 using Windows Vista Basic. Previously it worked but now for some reason, it crashes during sync of photos. I can sync a few photo directories at a time, but when I try to sync all photo directories or more than some magical number of photos, it crashes. I would love to find out what I can do about this.

  • Itunes 10.6.3.25 crash during sync with ipad

After installing the latest iTunes 10.6.3.25, I can no longer fully sync my iPad 2.
    - after the sync has started, I see the backup complete but some time after that i will get one of a series of errors such as cannot write file to ipad, an unknown error has occured, etc.  If I try to eject the ipad, iTunes then freezes. If I use the taskmanager to close iTunes I get either a black screen with a flashing mouse cursor (which requires a power off to solve) or occassionally I can end the iTunes program via the task manager.
Syncing works fine on my iPhone 3GS.
I have already uninstalled itunes and reinstalled it - with no change in behaviour.
After trying to sync about 20 times, I have slowly managed to get about 80% of my stuff on the ipad.
Can anyone suggest how to relove this?
    Thanks.

    1. Yes, you need to buy a new OS. Mac OS X 10.6 requires a Mac with an Intel CPU and at least 1GB of RAM.
    2. It won't erase your files unless a problem occurs. Back up everything anyway; this can be done with Time Machine or by creating a bootable clone, and requires an external drive.

  • 3G iPod and iTunes 7.0.2 hanging during sync

First time to sync since updating iTunes. Added some new CDs to my collection, ripped them and then tried to sync. First tried syncing all songs and playlists. It goes along for a while, updating X of Y, with X steadily increasing. Then, X just stops. It can be at song 12 or 912 or 4320. It stops at a different place every time I try. The display continues to alternate between "Updaging iPod. DO not disconnect." and the status numbers, but the numbers never change.
Of course, since iTunes thinks it's still syncing, even though the count isn't increasing, I eventually have to force quit, log off and shut down. Even then, it won't shut down until I unplug the iPod. Of course, it complains when I do that and I end up resetting and restoring and trying again.
The last time I tried just syncing a single play list of 235 songs. That went fine, so I added another playist of 315 songs. It stuck on song 70.
    Thoughts?

    Hi,
I'm just wondering if you had any luck in resolving your problem? I'm having a similar issue and went to the Genius Bar at one of the Apple store and they seem to think my hard drive is dying and basically need to buy a new ipod.
Did you have any luck in fixing?
    Thanks.

  • ITunes hangs during sync "Transferring Purchases"

I can no longer sync my iPhone. It starts out OK and then says "Transferring Purchases from Joe's iPhone. Copying HoldEm".
It then shows abour 10% on the progress bar and sits there forever. I've tried everything I know but can't seem to get around this. Even unchecking "Sync applications" has no effect.
I am really getting fed up with Apple lately... This iPhone is extremely buggy (browser crashing, etc) - and I am an Apple fan!

I had the same problem today and fixed it straight away with the suggested solution above - I just downloaded Texas Holdem on my computer through the apple iStore - it brought up a box saying that i already had bought it so I didn't have to pay again. It took quite a while (it's a large file) but once it was downloaded and I did the sync again there was no problem at all

  • ITunes 9.0.2 crashes/hangs when syncing

I bought a 64GB iPod Touch this October, and at first all was well. Since I updated iTunes I have no longer been able to sync my iPod. I'm running iTunes 9.0.2 now, and it works fine until I connect my iPod, at which point iTunes hangs. I don't even hit the "Sync" button, it just hangs as soon as it tries to recognize the iPod. I have let the beach ball spin for an hour without any progress, and forcing it quit is the only way out of the app. In another thread it was suggested that Genius playlists might be at fault, but I had not turned them on. (I did turn them on, and then off again, to see if that might fix it for some unknown reason. It didn't.)
Thankfully I can still charge my iPod, but I would really like to be able to sync it again.
I'm running a MacBook (purchased in May 2006 when they had that run of discolored palm rests) with OSX 10.4.11 Tiger.
    Can anyone help me out?

I have a similar issue. It looks like my iTunes (v. 9.0.2) crashes every time it attempts to connect to the itunes store/download a podcast. When I disconnect myself from the Internet there are no problems (other then not being able to connect to the Internet... which is not really an option).
Anyone have the solution to this? My next step is to reinstall iTunes. I'll post an update if this works.

  • ITunes 11.1.4.62 Hangs on Sync Step 2

After upgrading to the newest iTunes version, my iPad hangs on step 2 (preparing to sync ... sometimes step 3, syncing email -- which is odd since I don't have email hooked up to my iPad).
Have tried all of the basic troubleshooting steps -- restarting, rebooting. As a last ditch I tried a factory reset. Big mistake since now I can't resync anything -- movies, music, apps. Basically dead in the water (which is normal. It seems like ever second or third update kills a phone or two).
The other thing I noticed is that even though I have iTunes set up to avoid automatically syncing. IT does so anyway. So, there's no way to have the iPad hooked up to iTunes without it bogging down in an endless sync.

    Hello, chd3143.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
Normally this indicates system information changes are being applied on the iOS device.  However, this could be related to security software conflicts.  It also can be related to any other mobile device software like BlackBerry or Motorola.  I would recommend going through the troubleshooting steps in the article below and if any old mobile device software is installed, uninstall them.

  • Itunes shuts down on optimizing photos during sync

    Hello
So when I connect my iPad it begins to sync and it goes through steps 1-5 with no problem.  when it gets to step 6 it says it is optimizing photos 1-17 and every time it gets to number 13 or 14 windows dialog shows up and says itunes has to close because of a problem...
This started happening about a week ago and I have yet to find a solution ??
On a side note, I have had every iPhone and never had a problem downloading the updates for it until I got my iPhone 4, and now when I want an update I have to take it to the apple store...any help here I would love too...THANK YOU to ALL !!

I'm having the exact same problem with my 3GS! I had this problem before and it was caused by videos from another camera. This time it's not the case. I didn't have this problem until the update. I called apple care and wasn't much help at all. They of course blamed it on my PC. So frustrating!! So is the recommendation to delete the photo cache from my PC?

  • Itunes stops working when copying apps during Sync

Hi I am using Itunes 12.01.26 on a Windows 7 PC
My library is saved on a nas server and the network drive is mapped.
I have an ipod 5 and Iphone 5s
Up until october this configuration has works a treat however since about October I have had difficulting in Syncing.
I cannot sync my music  - everything i try fails so as a last resort i have tried to restore my devices.
Itunes stops working when it gets to the stage of copying the apps.
I have read a suggested solution to move the library to the local C drive but this does not seem to be reasonable solution particularly as my library is large.

Same problem here with Win 7 64 bit & iphone 4.  It all started a few weeks ago with itunes upgrade 10.4.8.   After about 20 hours wasted time, uninstalling and re-insstalling all Apple products in the suggested order as suggested on another forum.  Still had the same problem.  Will sync fine until I check the "videos" tic box.  Itunes stops working in the step of "optimizing photos" (????).  If I go back and uncheck "videos" tic box, iphone4 will sync just fine.  BUT now all my videos previously on my iphone are on the PC.  I would like them back on my phone!
I gave up and went to the Apple Store to visit with a Genius.  Took my PC and everything with me.  It was not from lack of trying, she did all the same stuff I did and checked everything over.  Could not fix it.  She said it appeared everything on my PC was set corrrectly and the problem was probably with itunes.  Said she always waits a little while when updates come out to make sure there are not bugs before putting them on her stuff.  Lesson learned.
I hope with Steve Jobs gone, this is not the future of Apple

  • Itunes cannot back up my iphone during sync

It stops syncing after it tells me that it cannot back up. The sync will also not finish so only the recently purchased songs show up, not any ong I bought 6+ months ago. All apps seem to be fine as well as everything else

If the sync proscess stops right at step one, which is backing up the phone, delete you latest backup listed in iTunes/Edit/Preferenes/Devices and try again to sync.
As for your battery problem, try to reset the phone by holding the sleep and home button until the Appe logo comes back again. You will not lose any data doing a reset, but it can clear some glitches.

  • Itunes removes all music from iphone during sync

Every other time I connect my iPhone to my computer the sync with iTunes causes the iPhone to lose all music. I only sync one playlist ("On-the-go") which contains all the albums I want on my phone and for my purposes is sufficient. I do not use iTunes Match (not even subscribed), only use iCloud for "Find My iPhone" and have very few "purchased" items as part of the playlist. All other purchases have been moved off the iPhone. In iTunes "Sync only checked songs and videos" is checked.  When I discover that the music is gone I can see in the Music pane of iTunes that none of the playlists are now checked. This is something that iTunes is doing by itself, I always leave one playlist checked. I'm getting a bit fed up of this - its been going on for several weeks now and takes far too long to copy the music back and then re-set alarms and other apps that use the music.
Any constructive suggestions would be gratefully received.
    iPhone 4S iOS 8.1.3
    iTunes 12.1.0.50
MacBook Pro (mid-2009) OS X 10.8.5 (NOT Mavericks as claimed below!)

I fixed this problem by dumping iTunes altogether and going with Amazon Cloud player app on the iPhone.  Much better experience than iTunes and iTunes Match.

  • Apple TV hangs during sync

I have so long accepted this behavior as 'normal' but in truth it's really annoying so I thought I would check to see if it is what other people are experiencing.
Whenever my Apple TV is syncing, it's basically unresponsive. If someone's watching a movie and I inadvertently start iTunes, the movie will stop and the system will become unresponsive to the remote. Eventually it might eek out a response or two, but basically it's brought to it's knees. As soon as the sync is over, or if I shut down iTunes, in a few seconds the system will resume as normal.
It's hard to believe Apple wouldn't make syncing a little more gentle on the system - i.e., give priority to user interaction.
    Is this 'normal'?

    Something quite strange here.
If the tv is playing a movie (or anything for that matter) and a sync is attempted from itunes, the tv will refuse to sync and the message that a sync cannot be carried out because the tv is busy will pop up.
Are you saying this doesn't happen for you.

  • ITunes 10.5 hangs during iPhone 4 sync

Just installed iTunes 10.5 and attempted to sync iPhone 4/4.3.5 several times. The process hangs while "Backing up" with the status bar right under the t in (Step 1 of 5). I've swiped the phone to cancel, which leaves iTunes continuing on as if the phone were still syncing. I used Task Manager to quit iTunes on Win Vista, restarted iTunes and attempted to sync again. Hangs in the same place. So, I restarted the computer, restarted iTunes and it's still hanging during Backing up...  I am so frustrated! Help!!!

    I've two Windows 7 64 bit desktops.
On the one I've always used which has all my backups, apps, music etc etc I'm having the same problem and I've tried everything including above suggestion, removing and reinstalling, New download, stopping processes using MSCONFIG and Autoruns all to no avail.
On the scond PC it's all working perfectly but I've no backups, apps, data, music or data.
    Not happy.
