ITunes 10.6.3 freezing during podcast updates
I am wondering if anyone else is having a problem with iTunes after updating to the latest version of Xcode from Mac app store. Every time I open the app and try to modify a podcast I am subscribed to, I get the beachball and have to force quit the application. Upon reopening the application, all the updates I made are gone.
The only thing I remember doing is updating Xcode to the latest version in the Mac app store, but I am not sure what else has changed. I tried redownloading and installing iTunes again, but it didn't help. I am running the latest version of Lion on an iMac 24".
Any help anyone can provide would be great.

I've that also, this bug is very annoying. All your old podcast subscription are unavailable to be refreshed. I think it's a bug from the latest version of iTunes, because not doing any other update recently.

Itunes does not recognize iphone during os update
During the update of the os the phone swiches to recovery iboot mode. The pc then loses contact and doesn't recognize it anymore. When i attach the phone to another pc it recognizes the recover mode of the phone and it can be switch back to factory settings.
Everytime i start itunes it gives an message:
The software needed for communication with Ipods and mobile phones is not corectly installed. Do you want iTunes to repair the problem.
But the fix is apperently not working because the next time i start the message remains.
The problem of not recognizing the ipone does not exsist during normal iphone sync, only after installing a new OS.
I already tried:
- removing itunes, all drivers, all apple software and reinstalling everything
- http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1495
- i only found this error message in the log iPod Service:
cannot find event-id 0 from source iPod Service. [...] service started
Anybody any suggestions? Please let me know?

Itunes 10.6.3 freezing during manual sync on Macbook pro
Hello all,
I am having more problems with my Ipod classic syncing on my new macbook than on the windows systems, which comes as a shock. I have restored the ipod more than once but the same problem occurs, when I add music over 24-25 Gb it starts to freeze - itunes won't respond I need to shut down .. after this the ipod works like normal.

With iTunes 10, Computer Still Freezing When Podcasts are Downloading
For the last several versions of iTunes, my computer has been slowing down a LOT while podcasts are downloading, especially when a new iT version is first installed. Then things improve over time. Now, with iTunes 10.1.1.4, it's horrendous. ITunes takes forever to open, and then causes my computer to become completely unresponsive. It doesn't respond to mouse or keyboard inputs, so I can't minimize it or shut it down.
Sometimes when that happens, I can't even open Task Manager, but when I can, it indicates that iTunes is using between 95 and 98% of CPU. In that circumstance, I can't even shut down iTunes with TM. After 15 or 20 minutes and all the podcasts have downloaded, I'm able to use my computer again, even with iTunes open.
It happens with all podcasts, but obviously it's more of a problem when a big pcast is downloading.
Today, I got the famous blue screen of death. All my programs had frozen and I was trying to shut down iTunes. The blue screen said "kernel data inpage error," whatever that means.
With past versions, I've tried uninstalling and re-installing iT, but that has not helped.
All my other programs are working fine. Today I ran CCCleaner, AdAware, RegCure and Malware Bytes, but nothing changed. My McAfee anti-virus max scanning time is 10 seconds.
Any idea what could be going on here? Or how to begin troubleshooting this mess?Hi,

You have to be certain that you have backed up your Library's and Playlists and that you are doing the one in the root (if like me you use a HD any old library/playlists instead of deleting them put them some were safe just incase and make sure you are re-creating the library from your root folder i.e user/music/itunes

80 Gb ipod classic causes itunes 8.02 to freeze during sync
Itunes 8.02 w/ 80Gb Ipod classic. Owned and synced to same mac for a year. No hardware changed.
Initial problem occurred over a week ago when connecting ipod to mac. Error popped up and told me I would have to restore ipod to factory settings. Clicked on restore. ipod rebooted and cleared itself.
Since then I have trouble syncing completely. Ipod and itunes seemed to be syncing properly but slowly and then stopped with progress bar still-came back over an hour later, and progress bar still at same place and sync icon on itunes and ipod still spinning. Tried to cancel, change settings, and/or do anything in itunes and it freezes with spinning cursor. Will not force-quit. I have to manually reset or unplug ipod from connector to resume.
I have been able to load music (9.96Gb) onto ipod by disabling auto-sync, syncing of podcasts(over 300), 1 audiobook, and 1 .pls file-radio station (which never tried to synced to ipod before). All of these items I have had long before the problem. I loaded a new cd into itunes and created a new playlist. Itunes accepted this with no problem. Ipod will not sync the new music when I manually click sync.

ThanksI found someone online who has the same problem, and claims that it can be fixed by reformatting the ipod in windows. I currently have not yet tried this, but I have tried reformatting it through disk utility on my mac pro, but to no avail.
I am planning on trying to reformat it through windows, and I will let you know what the outcome is when I get around to it.

IPhone 4 freezes during software update
Here we go. I've searched the forum. This problem is known, but there is no single solution that has worked for everyone. So I'll post here and see if I'm wrong.
iPhone 4 - I do not know the current version of the iOS, but I was upgrading to today's latest.

Latest version of itunes 10.4.1.10
iTunes updated fine, iPhone backed up fine, software update dowloaded, error occurred during the actual update.
Now, iphone screen has the usb plug and itunes logo on it, as if it's telling me to plug the phone in to my MC and fire up itunes. Which I do. And nothing happens. This happened to me before on the same computer, only with an iPod Gen2. The only solution I even found for that was plugging into a different PC, restoring the ipod, coming back to this PC and restoring the backup, but not installing the software.
This time I don't even get the message that my device is stuck in restore mode.
Help anyone? I'm ******.Hello curtis84: I tried unsuccessfully for several weeks to locate a fix online for this issue. I've seen may posts for this issue and a lot of complaining about Apple's lack of response with a fix. After trying various times to uninstall software reinstalling software, deleting backups blah blah blah; I decided to do things the "hard" way. I installed ITunes on another one of our computers and backed up my Iphone to that computer. Doing this gives you a warning that only certain portions of the iphone are backed up since I'm using another computer. Another stupid feature of ITunes....Since I use the IPhone on a Windows computer AND all of my contacts, emails are on an MS Outlook account, the only painful part of this was my ITunes Library. Photos and music were backed up on a separate (USB) hard drive and transferred manually. This did wipe out my playlists for my IPhone but at least I can run the software. The back up works the update works and the syncing runs much quicker than before. I realize this isn't an elegant solution but since Apple has not provided a posting for Windows based computers, this is my attempt to help those who need it.
A little feedback for Apple; not that they seem to be listening but here it goes; I always hear from others how much of a pain Microsoft is due to cross compatibility issues snd their protectinonism; but in all of my years of running numerous computer systems including Apple I have never encountered such a total lack of disregard for customer support as I have with Apple and their OS updates. This includes their computer based and phone based OS. From a business perspective, this specific lack of cross platform support undermines your product and allows competitors to bulld support for their products. Please do the right thing and properly support your loyal customers whether MS or Apple based. The phone rocks. Just support it!

Itunes 7.7.1 freezes during installation
When i try to install Itunes 7.7.1 the installations freezes (it looks likes it's still working on it. but i've tried waiting for hours and nothing happens) as soon as i gets to the "installation" part.
It's the same both when i use the software updater, and when i try to download the installer directly from apple.com
i'm useing Maac OS X 10.4.11, and i don't have any old versions of itunes installed.
Anyone got any suggestions as to what i can try?I have exactly the same issues with my new 80G iPOD. I have found that when connecting to my PC, the iPOD does not start iTUNES 7. This can be resolved by stopping the iPOD Service in Computer Management, connecting the iPOD and then starting it again. Seems like a stupid long-winded way to do things, but at least you can get some stuff on to your iPOD.
As far as using Restore goes - I just get the restoring iPOD message you described, which it blatantly isn't :((

I would suggest giving us more details and clarify both questions.
From your message, I got these two questions, please confirm that they are the right ones:
1) You were given an iPod from a friend and you want to load your music onto it?
2) When you're downloading the iTunes program from the internet, your browser becomes unresponsive and freezes?
If those aren't the correct questions, please take time to write them in a way that we'll understand exactly what you're trying to do.
Once we have an idea of what you're asking, we can try to answer properly.

Screen freeze during software update
I was doing a routine software update and Itunes gave may a warning that an unknown error had occured and the update had stopped. On my iPod I was left with an image of a USB plug and and Itunes logo. I tried resetting the device (ON/OFF switch at the same time as the button on the upper right) and it went thru the normal reset process with the Apple logo but then came back to the same USB/Itunes screen. The iPod doesn't even show up in Itunes at this point. Suggestions?
- Try rebooting the computer
- Next try placing the iPod in recovery mode. For recovery mode:

Itunes 10.1.2 freezes during movie playback
I have several movies that were purchased through the itunes store.
I can't play them using my macbook air 11.6
The first part of the movie will play, then the video and audio will lock up (not comfortable on your ears when this happens)
Opening / closing itunes does not correct this problem.
I've also repaired permissions on my disk.
I am also unable to skip forward on any of my movies. It will play the first chapter then lock up.
Any assistance would be much appreciated.First try running software update, itunes 10.2 was released last week. If that does not solve your problem then go to ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.iTunes.plist and drag that plist file to your desktop. Then restart iTune and try again.

HTC Thunderbold freezes during download/update: Help?
My HTC TB locks up as this download happens. I've seen advice on pulling the battery. I've been doing this for hours now. I need my phone as I am moving. This is horrible timing.
I suspect my antivirus may be stopping it... but I received NO warning and this update was simply foisted without notification.

You might get rid of everything Apple by using the Microsoft Windows Installer CleanUp Utility.
Get rid of ASU, iTunes, QuickTime....then maybe the next install will 'stick' properly.
Or even go through the more thorough steps from this article, listed under "General installation troubleshooting"

A freeze during software update killed brand new Macbook Pro?
I have only had this computer for about 2.5-3 weeks, and it came with Lion. I was installing the recommended software update (attached to power like recommended), and the update froze about 10% from being finished (the bar did not move for 20 minutes). I pushed the power button to restart it, but ever since then, it won't restart; it only will show the Apple screen, and then I hear the hard drive shut down while the circle is still spinning. I tried booting it up holding down cmd-S, to see what the text would say, and it tells me that the bootstrapper has crashed. I am able to get to the recovery pane by booting with cmd-R, which is how I am on the internet, but I can't access my hard drive at all.
I did just do a time machine backup yesterday, but I have installed the entire Adobe Master Collection since then (which took FOREVER), and I was at school all day doing work, so I have quite a bit of important stuff I'd rather not lose if I can help it.
Any suggestions? I think this computer is possessed...I have had so many problems with it since Day 1.You do know that Apple has a 14 day No Questions Asked return policy?
So you should of taken it back when you have the first problems. Now you are past that date but you still may be able to return it for a replacement that actually works as it should. The only way to tell is to take it back to where you bought it and explain all the problems you have had, including that it will not boot after doing this latest update, and ask for an exchange for a new unit that will work correctly.

Open Blackberry Desktop Software & Connect your device with PC using USB cable, without inserting battery.
You will get three option Retry, Update Or Cancel, then click on update.
Once it is to the stage of the update "initializing handheld", then insert battery.
If this does not work, and you remain stuck on the backing up the Social Feeds database, go to the second method below.
Secondly:
Start your BlackBerry in Safe mode. Article ID: KB17877 How to start a BlackBerry smartphone in Safe Modehttp://www.blackberry.com/btsc/KB17877
Connect to the BlackBerry Desktop Software and allow your handheld to connect. If you are prompted to upgrade, cancel the upgrade for later.
IF you cannot connect or your Desktop Software does not recognize your device while in Safe Mode, please follow the directions here to force the detect: Article ID: KB10144 How to force the detection of the BlackBerry smartphone using Application Loader
Go to Device > delete > SELECT DATA > select to delete both the Social Feeds and Smart Card databases, and follow the remaining prompts to complete it.
Now, you can return and click to upgrade the device through the Desktop Manager, or reboot the BlackBerry in normal mode and continue the over the air upgrade.
