ITunes 10.6.3 MBP to MBP Homeshare Not Working

My sister and I (both on MacBook Pros from last year) have been trying to HomeShare for a fair while now but no matter who we sign in as or whatever, it doesn't work and hasn't done so for a few months. We're on the same Wi-Fi network, using the exact same passwords and everything but as soon as we sign in, the Sharing tab in the iTunes sidebar disappears and we can't access each other's librarys.
Any ideas?

Have you checked that the firewall and/or security software settings aren't blocking iTunes.

You must enable iTunes Match on the new computer. The best way to accomplish what you want to do is to create a new, empty library by launching iTunes while holding down the Option key (Shift on Windows) and choosing "new library." Try removing the Genius database. In the "Finder" go to the /username/Music/iTunes/ folder and delete the "iTunes Library Genius.itdb" file. This may allow the program to launch again. This file will be recreated upon first use of the "Genius" feature.

I think you will need to restore to the itunes computer you normally sync to.
So you'll have to wait until you come back from your trip.

After much groaning I think I have finally figured this out. My Apple TV worked fine for more than a year, then after an update it kept losing home sharing. I finaly noticed that this coincided with my computer display going to sleep. So after some investigation I changed my energy saver settings to NOT put the hard disk to sleep whenever possible. That seems to have taken care of it. I don't know why Apple couldn't figure this out.

I generated a new Itunes Account and now the App sync. does not work with theapps I bought with the old account. Is it possible to merge the old and the new account ?

Mini DisplayPort - VGA and MBP 2011 not working

Hi,
I can't get my 13" mbp 2011 to connect to VGA screens. I've bought a mini DisplayPort to VGA converter (an Apple one, not a no name) and if I connect a display over VGA the screen stays black. My mbp recognizes the display, I can see the display's model, resolution etc but no signal. I've tried multiple screens, none work.
I don't have other converters so I can't test if HDMI screens for example do work.
Anyone else having this problem?

I have a 2011 13" i7 and am having the same issue when connecting it to my LG TV through the HDMI adapter. However when I connect it to my HP external monitor it works but it's VERY blurry... so blurry that it hurts the eyes to look at it for more than a few mins.
My previous MBP (2010 13") works fine however with both the TV and monitor. I even reconnected it just to make sure and they both work flawlessly.
I only have 14 days total to return this new MBP and 5 of those days are used up so if I can't get this fixed by then I have no choice but to return it and go back to my old MBP.

Windows Vista Business with MBP - wireless not working

I have successfully installed Windows Vista on my MBP using Boot Camp Assistant.
Problem is that the wireless ethernet does not work. I have heard of some file called "Install Macintosh Drivers for Windows XP.exe". If this is what I'm suppose to use where do I find this file?

Hi and welcome to Discussions,
first thing to do after the Vista Installation is to insert the OSX DVD that came with your MBP while in Windows.
Apple provides the BootCamp Drivers on that DVD.
The Driver Setup should start automatically once the DVD is inserted.
Let the Driver install and do the neccessary reboot into Vista once it has finished.

Homesharing not working even when activated on all my devices

Hi everyone,
I have not tried Homesharing in a long time, but everything I can remind is that it worked perfectly. So, I have not changed my setting, since yesterday I have uploaded itunes 11 and Remotes 3.0 (but it is the same in Music) Homesharing is not working : on my iPhone and iPad I get a message asking to activate the system on my computer using my Apple ID.
Obviously I tried to re-activate it, but it was already in place.
I tried to de-activate it, to re-activated it, same on all my idevices, but no changes.
Does someone have a clue of what's happening to me ?
I'm using OS X 10.8.2, iTunes 11, iOS 6.0.1 on both my iPhone and iPad.

Exactly the same problem with the Remote App and Itunes 11 (and looking at this forum it is affecting a lot of people), tried a few different things with no joy. Hopefully someone will find the solution soon.

I can't get homesharing to work. I type in my username and PW in iTune, I authorized my computer, but then Apple TV2 keeps telling me I need to turn on Homesharing on my computer? What's the deal?

ITunes Copy to library and Keep organised settings not working properly.

Hi - I use an external disk array for my library and have always had the preferences for "Copy files to itunes Media folder when adding to library" & "Keep itunes Media folder organised" since I started using iTunes. 99% of the time this works fine. However, I've noticed in the last six months, I need to check it after each import or download to ensure it works.. For example, I have a series pass for a tv show, and episodes 1-15 were in the default path, not my media location, but 16-18 were. I put this down to a glitch, but now have the reverse for a second show, where most of the shows are in my media location but 3 odd episodes are saved to the default path location. Similarly, my music purchases this week have all gone to the default path instead of the path set in the preferences.
I have also found that recent CD imports have random tracks saved to default location..and seemingly ALL podcasts are not being saved in the right place - they ALL go to default path..
Clearly not something that is consistent but also not what I want to happen.
Any ideas?

Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
That resets the iPad. If that does not work, I am afraid it has been damaged by the "water dip."

Reinstalling OS X Without Erasing the Drive
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Reinstalling OS X Without Erasing the Drive
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility and press the Continue button. After Disk Utility loads select the Macintosh HD entry from the the left side list. Click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If Disk Utility reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit Disk Utility and return to the main menu.
Reinstall OS X: Select Reinstall OS X and click on the Continue button.
Download and install the OS X Yosemite 10.10.3 Combo Update.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.

TS2756 i downloaded the new itunes and now my hotspot via usb does not work on my macbook. (it was before) i have an iphone 5s.
