I just hate to lose my iTunes library further down the line because of something like this. I can't take rating and making all of those playlists again.

Macbook pro (lion) will not reboot after updating itunes

I have a MacBook Air, which I just upgraded to OSX Lion. I also have the latest version of iTunes. When I try to stream to the AirPort, the Airport resets, and the wireless connection on the macbook locks up. Any suggestions where to start?
To free up hard drive space the best bet is to move data files that you don't need access to all the time. Likely candidates are music, video, and photos. Things like word processing and spreadsheet files can also be moved but they tend not to be very large and so don't free up much space. The problem with moving the above mentioned files is that iTunes and iPhoto need to know where the files are stored.
Here's an article explaining how to move the iTunes folder. You can move the iPhoto library using the Finder but there is a slight complication. Start iPhoto, open the Preferences and click on the Advanced tab. The first option is "Copy items to the iPhoto Library". If this option is checked, copy the iPhoto library to your external folder (drag it from the Pictures folder to your external drive) and then delete it from your Picture folder. If this option is not checked, it is a bit more complicated and we'll need to talk a bit. -

You need OSX 10.6.8 at least. Read the link below on getting 10.6 at least, then update online to 10.6.8. Depending upon your model computer you might be able to go beyond 10.6.

In the future do not buy new devices until you are sure you can run them on your computer. Read the 8 point medium gray print on a light gray background Apple uses to tell you on each box what system requirements are for each device. -
I just tried to sync calendar on my iPhone 3 (ver. 4.2.1) with my MacBook Pro (Lion ver. 10.7.4). It doesn't sync. Is there any way to do it?
Have you updated your itunes to the latest version? You have to have itunes to sync the phone to any computer.

It continues with notifying a download error.

FcybHave you updated your 10.6.8 with the combo updater then followed that with software update? If not, do so then try again. Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 Ideally you should have 2GB of Ram installed.
There's no reason to upgrade further, Lion, Mountain Lion etc at this stage, indeed if there is a reason to upgrade at all. These latest OS's are substantially different and often ill suited to older machines, especially if some of your support apps are Rosetta based.

I want to watch an iTunes rental video on my MacBook Pro but AirPlay the audio to my AirPort Express linked speakers. However the AirPlay icon isn't available when arching the rental video in iTunes. Is there another way? Do I need to but an AppleTV? I don't own a TV, hence why I want to watch on my MacBook Pro.

With or without an Apple TV you can't send video to one device and audio to another using AirPlay. -
When I send a message on MESSAGES using my iPad2, they do not show up on my iPhone or my MacBook Mountain Lion messages. Did I miss a setting on any of the devices as I thought iCloud took care of syncing all of my devices

How can I reset Safari with all components? On my MacBook with Lion, Safari does not start, does not react immediately after trying to open it. Installing a new Safari does not help. Removing parts of Safari in the Library does not help. Where can I find and remove all components as LastSession and TopSites?
The only way to reinstall Safari on a Mac running v10.7 Lion is to restore OS X using OS X Recovery
Instead of restoring OS X in order to reinstall Safari, try troubleshooting extensions.
From the Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Extensions tab. Turn that OFF, quit and relaunch Safari to test.
If that helped, turn one extension on then quit and relaunch Safari to test until you find the incompatible extension then click uninstall.
If it's not an extensions issue, try troubleshooting third party plug-ins.
Back to Safari > Preferences. This time select the Security tab. Deselect: Allow plug-ins. Quit and relaunch Safari to test.
If that made a difference, instructions for troubleshooting plugins here.
If it's not an extension or plug-in issue, delete the cache.
Open a Finder window. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
Type or copy paste the following
~/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari/Cache.db
Click Go then move the Cache.db file to the Trash.
Quit and relaunch Safari to test. -
I am a long time iTunes user but a new MacBook owner! I keep the majority of my music files on an external hard drive. I'm trying to view all those files on my MacBook through iTunes. With windows you would go to : File/Add To Library, and iTunes would add all your selected files to your music library BUT WOULD NOT COPY THEM TO YOUR HARD DRIVE. In other words, if the external hard drive was connected, you could listen, drag/drop, and edit the files. When I tried the same thing with my new MacBook... it actually started coping the files to my MacBook harddrive. I don't want that, it's millions and millions of mp3's that I don't want to keep on my computer, only my external hard drive. Can anyone help? I'm sure it's something easy, I'm just so new to the Mac world. Being an iPhone owner for many many years I'm picking up things fast, but this is getting the best of me! Help !
In iTunes 11 uncheck the preferences setting in in the iTunes Preferences panel "Advanced > Copy Files to iTunes Media folder when adding to Library"

How do I transfer itunes library to new hard drive running lion os
I have a Mac Pro with 2 hard drives in it.
Hard drive #1 has Leopard OS and my iTunes library on it
Hard drive #2 has Lion 10.7.4 OS and this is where I want to move my iTunes library to from hard drive #1.
How can I due this insuring that all playlists, etc. transfer seamlessly. I will then only be using the new Lion OS
to run iTunes (and this will also communicate with Apple TV, etc.)

That is all.
You can also leave it where it it, hold Option, launch iTunes.
Slect Choose library... and select the iTunes folder on the Leopard drive.
This will be your iTunes for both OS, whichever you boot into. -
Is there any way to darken the gridlines in iCal? I'm using it on a Macbook with Lion and find it difficult to see the gridlines on the iCal display.

Trying to install MS Office 2011 for Mac SP 2 (14.2.0) on my Macbook Air (Lion 10.7.3). I have to close Microsoft Database Daemon and SyncServicesAgent but can not see how to do so. I have closed all applications. Can anyone help? Many thanks
Thanks Kurt! I had tried all that and had tried closing both programmes from the application monitor, but SyncServices Agent refused to close. I tried closing Launchd which is their mother application, but that just caused the screen go go blank. In the end the two programmes let themselves be closed next time I tried the installation process so all was well. Thanks for your help!

The machine is a Macbook with 2GHz and 1GB ram. Shift+A is not working. The shift key will work when capitalizing any of the other letters except A. Anyone know what this problem is?
