Itunes 10.6 hangs when launching?

I am having Various problems with Itunes 10.6. Initially I had problems when trying to enter the podcast section after upgrading to 10.6. Itunes closed out. Not sure how but thats resolved itself and today I can't open Itunes fully as it hangs with a lovely spinning beachball. I have tried to reinstall Itunes with no luck.

I have tried reinstalling...deleting the Mozilla plug-in information...deleting the Cache/iTunes preferences. All suggestions found in this forum.

iTunes on Windows hangs when in ringtone editor. I get this quite often when editing a ringtone and it hangs for 1+ minutes (had it come back after 1 minute once but other times over 5 min and killed iTunes to get control again). This plus the iTunes + songs not letting you make a ringtone (they should have cought that in QA unless they skipped QA on this).

Try this
Go into the control panel, add/remove programs. Uninstall iTUnes, Apple mobile device service, apple application support. Then go out and redownload and reinstall iTunes and try again.

Developer Server 6.0 hanging when launched from Netscape 4.6

Hi, simple question to ask about OAS and Developer Server.
My Developer Server 6.0 hanging when launched from Netscape 4.61,
I am currently running...
Pentium PII 200Mz running NT sp5
Forms Server version 6.0.5.31.0 (Patch 3 applied)
OAS version 4.0.7.1.0 (Patch applied)
Jinitiator 1.1.7.18
Netscape 4.61 browser
I have all the latest versions of everything that is available,
I have followed the instructions.
I successfully connect to the OAS admin utility and have setup
all the virtual to physical directory mappings under the default
listener www. I successfully start all website OAS services.
I have Forms server successfully started up as a process
listening on port 9000.
I have two statics html files created:
a) with Jinititator 1.1.7.18
The very first time I connected to this static html file it
installed Jinitiator as expected. The Forms server splashscreen
then appears.
Jinitiator then starts up successfully, no errors appear in the
Java console. This has proved I am talking to the listener and
my virtual directory mappings are working.
At this point there is a lot of disk activity and then all
stops, the splashscreen remains and appears in the discussion
area:
FRM-9999 cannot access "koala.ilaco.gov.bo:9000" and
a series of java exceptions
I am pointing to the correct java directories (I think)
b) with out Jinitiator
When I try to call using URL with Netscape 4.61 I get a
message on the status bar saying...
Applet oracle.forms.engine.Main class oracle/forms/engine/Main
got a security violation: Method verification error
Can you help ?
If you know the answer, please let me know as soon as
posible.

Compaq PC, with Pentium II, the software is:
- Windows NT, with Service Pack 5
- Oracle Application Server, v.4.0.7.1.0 Enterprice Edition,

- My browser in this machine is Netscape 4.61
- Jinitiator 1.1.7.18 is also used.
My developer server is installed and running on the same machine

With IE5, I get the splash screen and after the forms is hanged.
If I use Jinitiator:

Why does Safari hang when launching?

Using Safari 1.3 on 10.3.9 for a couple weeks now; everything has been running well, until today.
Safari will launch from a Help command within an application (eg: any CS application), open it's own window, blue connection status gets halfway across the window bar, then it will hang with the spinning beach ball... until I force quit.
Same thing happens when launched from the dock or directly from the applications folder. Explorer, Firefox all work fine. All other apps working fine.
Tried trashing Safari prefs, no change. Deleted all Safari files and tried to install v1.2 instead (as a download from Apple), but now the Safari installer hangs as well. No problem with installing or re-installing other apps.
Additionally, Sherlock will now no longer launch.
Why is this happening? How can I fix it?

Indesign CS3 hangs when launching - I have found a temp solution

I upgraded to snow leopard and ran into a problem straight away with Indesign CS3 hanging when I tried to launch it.
I have done some searching round the web and noticed a large number of posts stating the same.
I noticed, upon starting up for the first time in 10.6, that snow leopard asked me to install rosetta to run suitcase fusion v12.0. Out of curiosity I shut suitcase fusion down and tried to launch Indesign and I got a result. It launches fine and doesn't seem to suffer any crashes. It leaves me without a decent font manager but will allow me to get through the next few weeks until an update gets released (if apple puts some pressure on adobe)!

Please check "Applications" folder, you would see a file named "Adobe".
Kindly delete the file, as it is corrupt.
Create a folder "Adobe" in Applications folder, issue should be fixed.

ITunes 10.3 hangs when backing up Keynote from ipad2

I have iTunes 10.3.1.55 running on XP. I'm trying to sync new ipad2 but iTunes hangs when it is backing up Keynote, recently purchased from the Apps store from the iPad. Does anyone have suggested remedy?

In windows 7, click on your start menu, go to accessories, right click on the command prompt icon and choose "run as administrator". Once it opens, type in the following command...
netsh winsock reset
hit enter and it should say something like winsock reset successful now reboot your computer.

ITunes 11.1 hangs when connecting to iCloud. How can I download 11.0.5?

Arrrrgh! iTunes 11.1 hangs on my system Windows 7 x64 when trying to connect to iCloud. It runs fine if I start it in safe mode (I have no third party plug-ins installed).
How do I download iTunes 11.0.5???? I've been searching on the Internt for the last 1/2 hour and it looks like Apple prevents users from downloading 11.0 once 11.1 (piece of crap) is out. WHY?????????

I've been able to resolve the problem of iTunes crashing by emptying the SycServices folder - by following the steps described at the foot of this comment. I've also been able to sync my iPhone contacts with my Address Book ...but I cannot sync my Address Book with Outlook 2011 ... and thus my iPhone linking to Outlook 2011.
I'm aware that 'Sync Services' were depreciated in 10.8 and was hoping that this would be restored in full in v: 10.9.3. I understand that MicroSoft needs Sync Services to be reintroduced into the OS to enable the sync to work again for linking up with Outlook 2011 - which appear to be blank in my Sync Services preferences window as follows ....
I would be mighty grateful for any ideas/solutions on how to resolve this problem. Synching Outlook 2011 with my iPhone was so easy in the past!

ITunes doesn't open when launched or takes several minutes to open

Just like the title says, iTunes doesn't open when I click the shortcut in the Start menu. It appears in the windows task manager under proccesses as 'iTunes.exe *32'. Sometimes it will open 10-15 minutes later. It worked just fine until a few weeks ago. I have tried running as Administrator, I've tried uninstalling/reinstalling multiple times. Not sure what else I can do. I need to use iTunes to synce my mom's iPhone 4S and my iPod touch 3 Generation. Any help is greatly appreciated!

You have the wrong version
Uninstall iTunes as instructed:

Reboot
Download iTunes from here:

and reinstall.

ITunes 10.6 freezes when launched

Good Morning,
I just recently updated iTunes to 10.6 from the Apple Software Updater. When iTunes is launched it prompts me for apple ID then immediately freezes up. If I reboot the computer, it will allow me enough time to enter my apple ID and password but freezes on asking me if I want to make iTunes default media player. I have not had any issues with the previous builds in the past until this one. I am going to remove iTunes completely and all registry entries and reinstall to see if this fixes the issue.
Has anyone else ran into this problem with the latest?

Uninstall/Reinstall did not work. Same issue with freezing as soon as it's launched.
Just to confirm, this is 10.6.3 64-bit Windows build.

Macintosh Adobe Media Encoder CS5 Hangs When Launching

I have a Mac Pro with OS 10.6.6, 20 Gb of RAM and plenty of hard drive space.
I have been using Media Encoder with no problems, but now when I launch the application, it hangs and crashes. Anyone have any idea on what I can do to fix it? I haven't installed anything new on my system, I have repaired permissions, but the app just started crashing out of the blue.
Suggestions are most welcome!

Itunes shows Error code when launching

"iTunes has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."
Every time I try to launch Itunes I get the window displaying the message above. When I try launching quicktime, nothing happens (No error message and nothing launches). I have tried unistalling and reinstalling both Itunes and quicktime together and separately and still have made no progress. Any ideas?

doublechecking a couple of additional things.
try launching your QuickTime Control Panel. does it launch, or do you get an error message? if you get an error message, what does it say?
can you uninstall QuickTime from your Add/Remove programs at the moment? or does the install give you a "fatal error" message?

Adobe Captivate 5 hangs when launched...

I downloaded the trial of Captivate 5, and when I double click the icon to launch it, it just hangs and says "Loading..." but never loads, eventually I click on the Captivate logo, and an error box comes up stating the program must close. I am using Windows 7 64 bit with about 750GB of free space. Here is what I have tried thus far:
I uninstalled, restarted and installed again, many times.
I re-downloaded the trail and tried installing again, many times.
I downloaded the updated UpdaterNotification32bit file and replaced it and rebooted.
I do not have any other CS5 products on my computer
Whenever I try to install, I do get the dialog box that states "A machine restart is required, quit and restart or continue", so I have restarted umpteen times, and there is no reason for it to have to be restarted, but that comes up every time I reinstall. I have gone to the registry to delete HKEY_Local_Machine...\Inprogress file, but no such file exist in my registry.
When Captive is hanging, it is using about 13% of the CPU and my memory sits at about 24%
There are no open dialog boxes that are causing the hang. Sometimes one comes up and I check it, sometimes nothing comes up. Either way it hangs.
I run the app as Administrator.
And still Captivate 5 will not launch. I did get it to open once, the first time I replaced the UpdaterNotification32bit file and restarted, but once I closed it, it went right back to the same problem. Any suggestions?

ITunes 8.1 hangs when copying new .m4a files to iPod

Recently Apple has changed their format from .m4p to .m4a.
I can transfer previously purchased albums(.m4p's) with out issue. New purchased albums (.m4a's) will not transfer to my nano or 80GB iPod. iTunes hangs and progress reads "Updating Files on "iPod Name" Copying 1 of 15". Once this happens I can not quit the process or even force quit iTunes. In fact the only way out is to force restart. It appears I can select a song at a time and that seems to work but when I select more than on iTunes hangs. I have replicated this on a 2GB iPod nano 1st Gen and 80GB iPod 5th Gen. I have several iPods in the house - iTouch 2nd Gen, iPod 80GB 5th Gen, nano 8GB 3rd Gen, 2GB nano and even an 05 Shuffle. Have not tried on the other iPod models.

After spending several hours with Apple Techs' John and Josiah we deduced that the issue was more than likely a communication issue but it wasn't 100% broken which was frustrating. Sometimes I could copy files with out hanging and the next time I couldn't and it would lock up iTunes. Well today I took it a step further and unplugged everything from my computer except the keyboard and the iPod usb cable. It worked! over and over again... syncing and manual music organization worked flawlessly. I then added each peripheral one at a time. The only 2 thing I have connected are a 2T WD MyBook (firewire) and a card reader which I honestly forgot was connected to usb when talking to the techs'. Well guess what the culprit was... The Digital Concepts 6 slot hi-speed 51-in-1 card reader. I actually started copying music to the iPod an then plugged in the card reader and iTunes hung.... when I removed the device it iTunes picked up where it left off and finished copying the files. I repeated this with 2 other iPods and had the same result. This is a pretty popular card reader and I bet this issue will come up for a few other people eventually - so I figured I would post my finding in hope to save others the headache. My solution is to simply unplug the card reader until I need it and never while trying to sync or copy music to my iPod.

Pages hangs when launched

When I launch Pages, I get the spinning ball and the application hangs forcing me to force Quit.
I tried re-installing, but no luck.
How should I troubleshoot this?

Interestingly, I've been having the same problem. I found some fonts that were corrupted and that initially fixed my immediate problem, but this morning I opened a template I'd never used before and the same thing happened once the template opened.
Holding down the shift key did not open up Pages with all docs closed, so my problem didn't go away. Then I tried starting up with the option (alt) key held down, and my problem went away. Haven't tried to repeat it because I need to get stuff done, but I thought I'd share it with this thread.

ITunes 9 freezes Windows when launched

Hi, I'm using Windows 7 and ITunes 9 and everything was fine until a couple of weeks ago when ITunes started freezing my PC (meaning everything looked fine but my mouse and keyboard weren't responding and my hard drive was just spinning). I've uninstalled completely using Renovo. I've tried using ITunes 8 as well, but it froze with that as well. At the time this started there were no new programs downloaded or drivers updated.
Anyone have any clue to what this problem might be? Thank you for reading.
