ITunes 10.7 burned CD playback issue

After purchasing an album from iTunes and then burning the album to a CD, everything seems fine.  I can play the CD in multiple non computer CD players ( car, stereo, etc.)  However, when I put the burned audio cd in the same MacBook Pro that burned the CD, iTunes reads the disc, sees all tracks, but won't play any audio.  With iTunes set to automatically play the CD, it just goes through each track without playing any audio.  Each track is only played for <1 second.
If I choose a single song and press play, it selects the song but immediately ends before 1 sec.
When I use VLC to play the CD, it works fine.  After using VLC, iTunes will then play the disc properly until it is ejected.
iTunes does seem to play commercial CDs just fine.
Does anyone know why this happens?

It's not just iTunes 10.7 that's having the issue -- I'm getting it on iTunes 10.6.3  I never upgrade software on the very first days -- I let it mess up someone else's system first

  • ITunes 10.5.2 Audio Playback Issues

I'm wondering if anyone else is having this problem: every 15 seconds, music playback in Itunes 10.5.2 is interrupted for a couple of seconds.  While the music is interrupted, the iTunes CPU usage in Activity Monitor climbs from 3.5% to over 100% on my 2011 iMac. Once the CPU usage falls back to its normal level, the music resumes for another 15 seconds and the cycle repeats.
I have turned off most of the automatic download, artwork and sound enhancement settings, thinking that perhaps a background iTunes process kept running. Also, This problem happens with files of different audio formats.  Quitting iTunes and launching it again does not help, but rebooting the computer appears to fix the issue temporarily.  Closing all open applications does not help and no other application appears to be having a similar issue. I thought that the issue might be related to the fact that iTunes is running both for my user account and also for my wife's account, but quitting iTunes on one of the accounts doesn't fix the problem on the other.
Strangely enough, music playback seems to only be affected on my Mac, but not on my wife's iPad, which is setup to wirelessly play music from her iTunes library on our computer using Home Sharing. However, this may be due to the iPad's buffering to smooth out slow network connections.
    Thanks for any help

I have the same exact problem on my 2011 mac. my ipod does not seem to be affected, nor dos my sonos system (which is run though itunes) or iphone. my only thought is to wait for the next update of itunes i guess...

  • ITunes authorization and song selection/playback issues

I use my computer (macbook air) and iTunes for work (I am an itinerant elem. music teacher).  The computer does not have a disc drive, so I import music from CDs and use iTunes match to transfer tracks to my laptop or iPod.
I'm having a few issues with iTunes (11.0.5) that have been occuring recently.
    1) I play a song from a playlist with no issues, then play the same song later (sometimes just minutes later) and receive a prompt saying I am not authorized on this computer to play that song and that song only.  Entering my ID and password gets rid of the prompt, but causes iTunes to freeze (I usually force quit and restart the program, which sometimes fixes the problem and sometimes doesn't).  I use iTunes match on this computer, but it still allows me to play other songs from the cloud while one song has authorization issues.
    2) When searching for a song using the iTunes search bar I used to be able to double click on the matching items without pressing enter (as I type in the search query it brings up options, which I can then double-click to play without completing the search).  Lately, when double-clicking on those songs they either don't play at all, or an entirely different piece of music will play.  If I click again it will cycle to another (also wrong) piece of music.  Despite what I type in the search, the songs that play when I click are songs with trumpet in the title somewhere, with the exception of one song, which is a trumpet sonata but does not say trumpet in the title or description.  When I drag the song from the search menu to a playlist and click on it the correct song will play.
    3) Some songs will refuse to play (iTunes claims that it is unable to find these songs).  I usually re-import from a CD when this occurs, which usually fixes the problem, but sometimes not.
    4) Some songs were imported but do not exist in my library.  Most of these songs are accompaniment versions of other songs (background track only, with no vocals).  They have the same title as their counterpart, with "acc" added at the end.  At first I thought I simply neglected to import these tracks, but when I try to import just the ones I need they still disappear and I am unable to search for them by title (using the search bar) or by looking up their album.
    5) Itunes will sometimes be unable to access tracks stored in the cloud, despite the computer having a strong internet connection.  I can download songs from the cloud using iTunes match, but this becomes problematic as I use more songs than I have room for on this (school-issued) computer.  I really don't want to spend time downloading and subsequently deleting files every week.

my home computer, where my library is stored, is running XP and it is not compatible with iMatch!
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/:
    iTunes 10.5 system requirements, Windows
Windows XP Service Pack 2 or later, 32-bit editions of Windows Vista, or 32-bit editions of Windows 7
I'm not sure how you're testing this with iMatch since Apple's site says it is not available yet, and there's no mention of any different system requirements (or any system requirements for that matter).
I don't know about the mp3 problem.  It might help if you provided a link to specific examples others could test.  I would think if this was a common issue with old mp3s there would have been 100,000 posts in this thread since it was started a month ago.

  • ITunes 10.6/Quicktime 7 1080p playback issue/frame skipping

I have a playback issue with the 1080p videos on the recent version of iTunes - 10.6. I also tried playing the same videos on Quicktime where I was able to find that the videos were playing at around 20fps as opposed to their normal rate - 24fps~25fps.
I seem to barely meet the 1080p playback requirements on iTunes, but I know that I'm able to watch 1080p videos on Window Media Player(WMP) 12 without any issues. Aside from WMP, I'm able to watch 1080p videos on Youtube whenever hardware acceleration is enabled. I assume that WMP utilizes hardware acceleration as well.
The playback issue/frame skipping is probably caused by iTunes 10.6 not using hardware acceleration.

  • WINDOWS VISTA ITUNES VIDEO PLAYBACK ISSUE!!!!!! AAHHHHHHH!!! HELP!!!!!!!!!!

am using a Dell XPS GEN 5 PC with Windows Vista Premium Edition as the current OS installed. I have latested up date for Itunes and QuickTime (7.1.6) Installed. I have recently bought and downloaded 3 of the Original Star Trek Tv Shows from Itunes. When I try and play one of them, they don't work. The Screen comes up, the show starts, then stops. Sometimes the sound keeps on playing, and then stops. Sometimes it just dosent even come on. I'm guessing (as a highly advanced Windows PC User) That this ia a "video/playback issue, related to a Apple/Vista Compatibility problem. I would like help solving this problem.

    hi slideaway!
my computer has a right proper meltdown, switching itself off and restarting to a "Windows has recovered from a serious error" sort of message.
good lord. are you getting any sort of blue screen? if so, what numerical and text codes are you getting with it? (ie 0x[zeros/letters/numbers] CAPSANDUNDERSCORES)
here's a reference on the sorts of things i'm asking about:
    Troubleshooting Windows Stop Messages
if you're not seeing a blue screen (or just a flash of one), we can use this technique to make hidden blue screens appear for us:
    1) Open your system control panel (Start->Control Panels->System).
    2) Select the "Advanced" tab.
    3) Click the "Startup and Recover" section's "Settings" button
    4) Verify that under "System Failure" the "Automatically restart" checkbox is not checked.

  • ITunes 7.0.2.16 - It hasn't fixed my playback issue(s). Your experiences?

A little recap of my iTunes 7 story:
-I went from iTunes 6.0.5 to iTunes 7.0.0.70 ("updated my library," analyzed gapless playback and indexed my album art) and got video slowdown (100% CPU) and horrible playback stuttering as the main issues, amongst others.
-Upgrading to iTunes 7.0.1.8 lowered the system resources a bit, but audio still skipped (though no longer distorted) and the playback bar never finished in playlists with repeat/shuffle turned off--the last song in a playlist would play, but iTunes won't end it once it reaches -0:00 remaining. iTunes also sometimes stopped playing back music entirely, staying put at 0:00 and requiring a reboot.
Here's my deal with iTunes 7.0.2.16 so far:
While installing iTunes 7.0.2.16, it wiped out and re-installed QuickTime 7.1.3 (just like the iTunes 7.0.1.8 installer did) as well as break all my QT + iTunes shortcuts.
Upon opening iTunes and clicking "Agree," it updated my library again in the same way it updated with the first-time launch of iTunes 7.0.0.70. Took quite a while to finish, and I thought the application hung for a couple of moments.
After a few minutes of usage alongside Firefox and other applications, I can say that in my case, the new version of iTunes has NOT fixed my playback-skipping issues and video playback slowdown that I first encountered with iTunes 7.0.0.70, but a few UI bugs are done with:
-Party Shuffle works as intended now.
-The 0:00 issue with tracks not finishing has disappeared. FINALLY!
-Cover Flow no longer refreshes artwork in its pane when playing a new song in that view.
-Checkboxes seem to work again in the Podcast library.
Minor bugs left besides playback performance: The visualizer only plays back in large size, no matter what size is chosen in Preferences. There's still a graphical glitch with the menu bar when stopping an enhanced podcast, and double-clicking an album cover not in focus in Cover Flow causes the animation to start from the beginning.
How's iTunes 7.0.2.16 for the rest of you? I might have to try that 48kHz/16-bit QuickTime tweaking again and see if it brings any luck.

A small update from my first post here since this topic's getting bumped - here's my temporary workaround with playback in iTunes 7.0.2.16, and it's worked:
Upon opening iTunes, play a track and don't let it stop. Just, whatever you do, keep some form of audio playing at all times (music/podcast/audiobook) without pausing or stopping it. Then, go about your regular multi-tasking routine and it shouldn't skip. Again, iTunes should always be playing something; don't let a playlist finish without "repeat all" turned on, for example.
If you need to turn off the music for a moment, just mute the volume in iTunes (drag the volume slider all the way to the left).
I find this to be the only workable solution for me until the next iTunes revision comes out - playback has been perfect about 100% of the time. Hope it works for you! Lemme know if it does.

  • Video Playback issues with Ipod and Itunes

OK I just bought some episodes of a TV show last night, and I put them on my ipod(5th gen. 30GB). About halfway-sometimes 2/3-of the way through, the video stops playing, no audio, no movement, just stops like it is paused. I deleted them off my ipod, made sure my ipod was up to date, and put them back on. Problems still there. Then i went to watch them in Itunes, and in the same places they freeze again. Itunes is up to date too.So now i have these videos that i paid for, that don't work completely on either my Ipod nor on Itunes. Help Please?

the good news is that you have pretty much isolated the issue. if the videos don't play completely on either the ipod or itunes, then the videos or tv shows are possibly corrupted. what you can do is contact the itunes store via a web form ( click here to go to form and scroll to the bottom)
tell the itunes store your tv shows have playback issues and say the same thing you posted. the itunes store should allow you to re-download the tv shows.

  • ITunes Store Purchase Playback Issues since 9.0.1.79 Updgrade

Since I upgraded to version 9.0.1.79 last week, all my iTunes Store purchases are warbled when I try to play them in ITunes. CD burns work fine - just my 1000+ purchases won't play properly. I reapplied update but no better. I'm afraid to sync my iPod and I'm getting angry. Anyone with similar issues?

    Sorry, it was 9.1.0.79 upgrade

  • ITunes TV download playback issues

Help - I downloaded a TV episode I missed from Lost and it plays back in a diffused screen of about 12 blocks. I tried all the fixes on Help to no avail. Any suggestions?? I can't go on w/o seeing this episode!!

Got it solved!! Thanks!! I just needed to view it in
    another program.
Just curious, what program did you use? I thought you had to use itunes or quicktime. I have also been trying to watch Lost on a Dell in Windows XP, and have been having playback issues as well.

  • Really Bad Playback Issue w/iTunes

I really hope there's someone who can help with this issue! Sorry for the long post but
I wanted to cover as many possible questions right away.
While working on photoshop files or switching between apps or windows, opening
finder windows, basically doing anything outside of itunes seems to cause itunes
to cut out briefly or completely stop OR the audio stops but the song keeps
playing. Other times a song will stop and then only a loud HISS comes from the
    speakers.
I have unplugged the 3rd party speakers and played just through the small
speaker in the G5 and the issues remain.
I've done a fairly thorough search for this issue and have found a few postings
(http://tinyurl.com/yajdg6z) (<--windows version) about it but no answers offered except for one that
    suggested:
"right click on the song and go to 'Convert ID3 Tags...'then from the drop down
menu pick one, mine works with v1.1
after that the song should start working again."
I converted my entire library to 1.0 and the problem remained. _I do not_ recommend anyone
do this as itunes will duplicate your entire library!
*This is a brand new (month or so) install of 10.5.8 on a 300GB drive w/tons of*
    *space in a Dual 2.0 G5 w/8GB's or RAM. itunes 9.0.3 (15)*
This issue was there w/10.4.11 using the OEM boot drive and I'm still having
this issue even having done a new installation on a NEW, bigger freakin drive.
The itunes library resides on an external 500GB firewire drive with 39 GB of
space available, so no airtunes or network to contend with.
I've also deleted my entire song list twice. Once re-importing the original
files and finding the issue remained, then deleted again and imported the backup
of the songs from my backup drive in case the 1st drive the originals reside on
was having issues. I guess it isn't!
When working w/Photoshop, the maximum amount of RAM being used by all processes
is a little over 4GB. Since I have 8GB (that's the max amount of RAM this
machine can hold) AND a completely empty 160GB internal drive for Photoshop
scratch disk space, I should be well within tolerances, but I could be wrong for
unknown reasons. I have allotted CS3 it's maximum amount of RAM which is
    3072MB.
I have MenuMeters in the toolbar which gives me a constant readout of processor
and RAM usage, so I'll see it if there is a spike or maxing out of the
processor at any given time. I usually never see that unless I am applying an
effect that requires that much, but the iTunes issue comes when just using a
very small healing brush and I'm cleaning up a scan.
BUT, and this is a big "but", the problem is not isolated to just when I'm using
CS3. CS3 might be running and doing nothing, and I'll be switching windows or
to a different app or just advancing to the next song in iTunes itself and bad
    things will happen.
With iTunes being the only app running the problemwas minimized. I tried
opening a lot of finder windows with coverflow andscrolling and the problem
wasn't too bad, occurring ONLY when I did a title change of
a song in iTunes. As soon as Safari was opened and I had multiple windows open,
the problem was back with no CS3 running. Basically if I run any app with itunes,
    itunes has problems.
I had left itunes running with some Safari windows open to some CNN pages and wasn't
even at the keyboard and heard itunes cutting in and out.
I do all the necessary utilities (DiskUtility, Disk Warrior, iDefrag, Applejack, and CleanMyMac)
to keep everything up and running so why is this going on? I have also uninstalled Perian just
    +in case+ that might help. It didn't.
    This is driving me nuts!
    Help!
    Eric

    Yep, unfortunately.
I have 2 500GB FW drives that are clones of each other.
One drive I work from and the other is the backup.
I have deleted the library from itunes and loaded the +clone drives+ copies of the music instead, in case working on images while playing music from the same drive was causing the issue.
Also I switched FW ports the drives are plugged into; switching from the PCI FW card they were plugged into, to the built-in FW port on the G5.
Worst case I will just play music through the wired network on my G4 and plug in the good speakers into the headphone/speaker jack on the G4. I've tested this out using +itunes 6+ which is what is on my G4. I'll update itunes on the G4 eventually if no other suggestions come in. I may try downgrading to itunes 8.2 on the G5 unless I hear otherwise.
You're right this shouldn't happen but seems to be specific to this particular machine as a previous G5 that died on me had no problems. I bought this one used so I can't speak to it's previous history, but it demoed just fine w/final cut and HD movies that were being edited by the previous owner.
I've had this issue since getting this G5. It occurred using the boot drive from my original G5, the boot drive that came with this G5, and the present brand new 300GB boot drive that I'm gonna stay with.
Things that have come to mind as possible culprits have been bad memory and the application switcher if that's still used in Leopard.

  • Weird Playback Issue...

I have this weird playback issue with iTunes for Windows. I am using Vista and I think the cause of the problem is that I am using MacDrive to access my OS X partition. But anyways, on with the problem. So the problem is that when I play a song, the song will play for like 5 seconds and then it will just go the next song. This song will do the same thing, and so-on and so-forth. Then, during this time, my Mac formatted hard drive is unavailable while iTunes is running. In "My Computer" the drive is there, but when I try to open it, Explorer freezes. Then, when I exit iTunes, it doesn't really exit. It still shows up in the task manager and when I try to end the process, it just plain doesn't end. I have to restart my computer to gain full use of it again. After the restart I can access my Mac disks, but once I start iTunes and try to play a song, I get the same thing again. And in case thats not weird enough, I can play the MP3's in WMP fine, and they will also play in iTunes fine if I actually open them, rather than just select them from my library. If I go to file open and select a song on my Mac drive, it will play fine, but then once I try to play a song from my library, I get caught in that vicious cycle. Anyone else had this problem or anything? Thanks. Also, is there an alternative program to Mac Drive that will allow me to read HFS partitions?

Post more about your situation... what format is the video, and where are you storing the video files? i.e., on a disk other than your startup disk? The adobe install is likely not the problem... I run adobe software along side FCS on about 75 workstations, and don't see issues like you describe.
Wavy? not accurate? what are you talking about?

  • Itunes hangs when burning cd's - possible solutions

    Hello everyone,
I've had what appears to be the same problem as many many more people on this site.
I haven't got a complete fix, after 4 months of trying but I've got as far as I have with the help of Toonz and the people at Apple.
Now here is what I have found:
    1. The problem with my Itunes hanging at burning only happens if I have a mixed playlist that I am trying to burn. When I say mixed I mean a mix of purchased tracks and uploaded tracks from my cd collection. Just uploaded tracks work fine.
    2. If I just burn a playlist of purchased tracks it works fine too.
    3. If I don't control alt delete when it hangs, and I wait for up to 2 minutes, the burn evenutally kicks in. Don't do anything. Just leave it and see what happens. I was having to control alt delete to get out of the unresponsive Itunes, but by chance, yesterday, discovered that by leaving it it finally burnt my cd! This was a mixed cd with both purchased tracks and uploaded tracks.
Now, the people at Apple don't yet know why this is doing this. It only happens since version 6 of Itunes. This version (I think) was the first to introduce the "checkingplaylist" stage of burning and they seem to think that it might just be something to do with that.
Anyway, that all helped me. It is still frustrating to have to wait for a couple of minutes, but it's better than nothing. They are still trying to get to the bottom of this for me, too.
I hope this helps at least some of you.
Please give me some feedback if it has, as I'd love to know that all my efforts over the last few months could help others!
    Good luck
    Jane

    I think I'm in love...
I just spent the past 3 hours running through reinstalls of iTunes, looking at every support topic and finally found this wonderful, wonderful thread.
I am having the same exact problem with mixed playlist burns.
I also have great success with waiting for only about 1-2 minutes while iTunes shows "Not Responding". Then it fires right up and burns perfectly.
Thank you for posting this quazi solution, and it has helped me tremendously. Well, at least it has saved me from having to transfer all of my music to a new digital music manager.
I hope this issue gets resolved soon

  • Movie playback issues

My movies are having playback issues again. Default settings are 44.1kHz  16bps  720p HD.
    Operating System: Windows 8
    Itunes Version 12.1.0
The issue is the sound goes in the beginning of each film. I have a computer which is two years old and yet there seems to be a recurring problem with movie playback.

I think it depends on which version of iTunes you are using. I had the same problem with digital copy movies when I loaded the 64bit version of iTunes 8.1, iTunes64setup.exe, on a Vista machine. Once I deleted that version and loaded the 32bit version of iTunes 8.1, iTunessetup.exe, I was able to view the movie in iTunes AND download it to my iTouch.

  • ITunes 7.0 ignoring "Remember playback position"

I've been encountering an issue where iTunes 7.0 is ignoring last marked playback position on files with "Remember playback position" set. The files in question are on my iPod. I can't put my finger on it, but I have for certain encountered this anomaly more than three times, with different files (all are mp3 podcasts from different sources). Instead of resuming playback where I left off, it begins playback starting at the beginning of the file.
Has anyone else been encountering this? If so, is there any workaround for this or should it be placed on top of the growing heap of iTunes 7.0 bugs?
    2 x 3 GHz Dual-Core Intel Xeon Mac Pro   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

So glad to at least find others that are having this problem. It's driving me crazy! I wish I had a fix, but even the Apple reps at MacWorld didn't have a solution.
This happened when I upgraded to iTunes 7. My "Remember Playback Position" is checked but greyed out.
Possibly related, when I first disconnect the iPod, the audiobooks show up inside the top level "Audiobooks" category. If I listen to one of them, then go listen to a song, then go back to the Audiobooks category, the books are now gone! I can get to them by browsing through Artists but it's definitely not the expected behavior.
