ITunes 10.7 error -42408

I use a Mac Pro(2.66ghz Dual-Core Intel Xeon -32bit- 10.6.8/12GB ram)
whenever I plugin my New iPad Mini w/iTunes 10.7.. it gives me "iTunes 10.7 error (-42408)
won't sync!  asks me EVERY-time to RESTORE it to original version( I have the New iOS 6.1.3)
I don't want to do this and have to RE-install all my New apps(NO-I dont use iCloud)
this machine does recognize my iPad Mini, maybe because I dont have WiFi Built-in?? it wont work..
I don't know.. I do use a WiFi - USB..that works though..
What's happening?? LL

No, I dont have any 3rd party add-ons.
I have tried the new itunes 11 and I have returned to the 10.7 version.
I have drag Itunes icon into the trash. After, I have install the 10.7 version.
And, here how my problem appeared.

  • When I try to access iTunes I get 'The file "iTunes Library.itl" cannot be read because it was created by a newer version of iTunes.' But when I try to download iTunes I get error (-42408)...help please.

    When I try to access iTunes I get 'The file "iTunes Library.itl" cannot be read because it was created by a newer version of iTunes. Would you like to download iTunes now?'' But when I try to down load I get "unknown error occurred (-42408)". Don't know what to do next and I can't get into my iTunes library. (I have an iMac, OS10.6.8.)

    Did you uninstall iTunes 11 and replace it with iTunes 10.7? If so, you'll need to go through a few steps to put things right:
    Rename "iTunes Library.itl" to some other name;
    Copy newst ITL file from the "Previous iTunes Libraries" folder into your main iTunes folder and rename it to "iTunes Library.itl";
    Download iTunes 10.7: http://appldnld.apple.com/iTunes10/041-7195.20120912.d3uzQ/iTunes10.7.dmg
    Download/install shareware app called Pacifist;
    Open Pacifist and, separately, mount iTunes DMG file -- drag iTunes PKG file into Pacifist and install iTunes via the Pacifist application -- be sure to answer yes to replacing everything Pacifist asks about;
    Enjoy iTunes 10.7.

    Hello, Julie.
    Thank you for the question.  As the device is registered to the Apple ID, you would simply need to make sure the name is correct on https://appleid.apple.com/.  If the name of the device itself is incorrect and you wish to change it, see the article below.

  • Itunes 10.6 - will not sync purchased apps - error -42408

    I upgraded the IPAD to the new OS and upgraded Itunes on my windows business vista PC to 10.6 - the restore and sync of the IPAD fails telling me that my computer is not authorized to use the apps - I am unable to authorize it (recieve the -42408 error)  - i've seen references to an itunes 9 issue but the fixes listed there dont seem to work - any ideas?

    Try taking a look at this Apple article -> iTunes: Advanced iTunes Store troubleshooting
    "Error 42023" through "Error 42408"
    These alerts might occur when trying to authorize iTunes or during launch when iTunes checks for authorization information.
    Install the latest iTunes from apple.com/itunes/download/
    Remove the SC Info folder.
    If that does not resolve the issue, see iTunes: "Error 42408" or "Error 42404" after upgrading to iTunes 9.0.3.

  • Error 42408 with Itunes 10.4?

    Has anyone else received Error 42408 with Itunes 10.4.8?  If so, is there an easy, straightforward way to fix it?  All the answers I have found online so far sound very confusing.  I cannot connect to the store, or synch my Ipod Touch.  I noticed it was a common error for Itunes 9.0.3, but I just updated my Itunes a couple of days ago, and didn't have any problems before that.

    Hello cjgzrh,
    Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    You may want to deauthorize all and then authorize the devices again.

  • ITunes Error 42408 tide to java?

    With Apple getting hit by hacker through java I shut down my java in Safari preferences. The next time I open iTunes I got the 42408 error. thinking to only thing that change to my system was the shutting off java, I turned it back on. Open iTunes again and no error. Washed, Rinse and Repete, the same thing happened!

    Hi OldFart,
    See this thread which discusses the same issue:
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/20470011#20470011
    If you restored your library from a backup done with iTunes 11, then that may be your issue. Do you have a backup that was done with iTunes 10?

  • How to solve an error 42408 in Itunes (i want to keep an older version 10 because better interface )

    I did not like versions of ITunes after the 10.
    I try to reinstall a version 10 after the 11.
    ITunes 10 is now working well but i cannot anymore use Genius, and have a report of error 42408 that block the setup of Genius.
    Do you have a solution for this (other than upgrading Itunes, obviously !).
    Thanks for your support.

    OK, my starting point is that LR can happily contain 400000+ photos, and it's a mistake to create a 1 star plus catalogue as you suggest. Instead, I'd recommend you create a master catalogue of all your photos, which you can then query however you want - 2 star, or a certain keyword, or with "xyz" in the title etc.
    If you are intent on going that way, you could try a slight change from what you've done so far. Instead of trying to import an entire catalogue and then delete no-star pictures, take the 2014 and 2012 catalogues and select only the 1 star photos. Then do an Export as Catalog for these items, and import the 2014-1star and 2012-1star into your new catalogue. That may get you past the problem images which I suspect are the problem.
    If that doesn't work, or if you follow my initial advice, you're going to need to identify the image where the failure occurs. You may have a corrupt image file, and replacing it from your backup may be sufficient to resolve the problem. Alternatively, it may be a corrupt record in the catalogue, and in this case it may be sufficient to remove the image from the catalogue and import it again. You might try selecting everything in the 2014 catalogue and seeing if you can do an Export as Catalog, creating a clean 2014, and deleting 2014's previews folder might also get rid of a potential problem. Something else is to try the Export as Catalog for images 1-40000, then a second Export as Catalog for images 40002-50k.
    So a few things you'll need to try, rather than a magic bullet, and a recommendation to change the underlying direction.

  • ITunes 11 error -42408

    hi
    I downloaded iTunes 11 version and installed it. After that, each time you start itunes pops error -42408.
    iTunes shows that it is version 10.7 (21)

    I solved the problem. On the computer was 2 copies of itunes. One is in the program (11 version). And the second (10.7 version) reside in the utility.
    All labels were on the old version which clashed with the new. After removing the old version, everything is okey.

  • ITunes Error 42408 After 9.03 Upgrade

    I am receiving the error 42408 after upgrading to 9.03. Google did not yield any results. The error appears attempting to authorize my Powerbook.

    I had the same problem. Check the version of iTunes via the About dialog. Mine said 9.0.2 despite having upgraded via system updates, itunes and even downloading the whole package again.
    Turns out, the dock iTunes link is running the old one. Basically, remove it from the dock, and re-drag the itunes from the applications folder back onto the dock. This then started 9.0.3 for me, and my iTunes account worked, the itunes store worked and iphone sync worked as well. Phew.
    Check the bottom of this page for my reference http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2311

  • Authorization Error ( -42408 ) for iTunes / iPod

    suddenly, itunes invalidated purchased tunes on ipod at the time of sync due to the use of unauthorized computer, which i've been using past years and synced the same ipod almost everyday.
    then, i tried to authorize my computer by typing in UserID and password for itunes store. Then a popup displays the failure of authorization due to the unknown error (-42408).
    the process below was repeated for 4 times to eliminate any possibility of human error... i repreated itunes > store > authorize computer. the password and id were confirmed to be correct by logging onto itunes store account.
    the only special condition would be that the last time, i used ipod until complete exhaustion of its battery charge. nothing changed other than this. ipod was manually rebooted during the attempt to correct the above-mentioned problem. i'm completely lost about why it's happening and how to fix this...

    SOLVED !!
    i found this article: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2339866&tstart=0
    and followed this method: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1389
    The trick was to log out and log in from the account. (i was using the admin account whole time so it's like re-log in. )
    by doing that, iTunes didn't even prompt me to authorize at all.
    thank you all for your hearted support.
