ITunes 10 and the HP MediaSmart Home Server
MY music is backed up to an HP Mediasmart Server 475. Since upgrading to iTunes 10, the home server is listed, all the playlist folders can be see but the music is not visible. Logging into the server and looking in the public music folder shows that all the data is still present.
What has happened with iTunes 10?
Apple broke the Firefly stuff that these 3rd-party itunes servers were using.
You need to downgrade back to itunes 9.

It could be that your button has justy gone out. You may try getting compressed air to blow out any dust in there. If that doesn't work, you may have to get your button and ribbon replaced.

- Powering off and then back on your router.
- iTunes for Windows: iTunes cannot contact the iPhone, iPad, or iPod software update server
- Change the DNS to either Google's or Open DNS servers

so i dropped my iphone 4 in class and the screen is cracked. it wont turn on so i went home and connected it into my itunes and the phone just keeps beeping like every ten seconds and the phone lights up just a little. What does this all mean?
It means you should take it to the Genius Bar. You will no doubt need to buy an out of warranty replacement.

HP Mediasmart Home Server/ MacBook Pro 2011
Hi there,
I've recently upgraded to a 2011 Macbook pro and noticed that the Mediasmart connector software that facilitated backups of my old MacBook Pro via time machine to my HP Mediasmart Home Server (which runs Windows Home Server) no longer works. I believe this is because the 2011 Macbook pros are set to boot into the 64bit Kernel of Snow Leopard (and the HP kext is 32 bit).
I don't want to have to replace the mediasmart - I've owned it for years and its done a good job in backing up both windows PCs and Macs and serving up media to various devices. Also, I don't want to have to run the Macbook Pro in 32 bit mode - does anyone have any suggestions here?
ThanksSame situation with our new 13" 2011. You really have only 2 options:
#1) Switch to 32 bit kernel. This should have very little impact on you.
#2) Switch to a different time machine solution, such as time capsule.
I don't see HP updating their driver anytime soon, as they are now out of the HomeServer business. You should be prepared for the strong possibility that when Lion comes out, that even the 32 bit kext kernel extension from HP may no longer work. in which case Time Machine may be permanently broken on the Mediasmart servers.
So, you may want to do #1 (which you can always go back to 64 bit kernel), while waiting to see if Lion does indeed break the time machine functionality with the Mediasmart server. If it does, then you only have #2 open to you. -
This just started happening.. I open Itunes and the little round rainbow loading indicator just goes on and doesnt stop.. My itunes wont function.. It gets stuck. Then i have to force quit.. I tried to shut down and restart. also reloaded the latest itune 11.1.3 and it still gets stuck.
i use an external HD and thats fine.. all files are in there. But I have no idea why my itunes app is getting stuck.

while updating my ipad to new software through itunes it got stuck and does not work anymore - it just displays the screen with symbols of itunes and the cable to connect to it - help - what should i do?
Disconnect the iPad, do a Reset [Hold the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons down together for 10 seconds or so (until the Apple logo appears) and then release. The screen will go blank and then power ON again in the normal way.] It is 'appsolutely' safe!, reconnect and follow the prompts.

Problems: iPhone, iTunes and the Music App
As the title suggests, iPhone, iTunes and the music app on the iPhone have all been causing me a great deal of frustration. I am experienceing a number of seamingly related problems:
1. After adding new music and syncing my phone with iTunes, iTunes seems to "choose" what songs it wants to sync even though I clearly have "Sync Entire Music Library" checked.
2. When all my music does sync on my phone, certain songs will be missing in the app or will only show up when searching for them using the search bar in the stock music app. Other times they will show up in the "Music" tab and not any of my playlists or under the "Albums" tab.
3. I have experienced a couple instances in which WHOLE ENTIRE ALBUMS are missing from my music app on the iPhone, but will still show up when searching for them.
4. One album will display split up into two inside the music app even though they are organized into one unit on iTunes.
I have erased and re-synced all music from my iPhone multiple times, which will fix the issue for a short period then reappear.
I have an AT&T iPhone 5 with iOS 7.1 and the latest version of iTunes 11.1.5 (5)
If someone can tell me whats going on or at least let me know if this is a common problem. If it is I really hope Apple knows about it and is fixing it.Hello gman4354,
It sounds like your phone is not syncing correctly to your computer, and the Music app is not functioning correctly even after deleting and re syncing your music from the app. I recommend starting by turning off your Music syncing in iTunes by unchecking that box in the Music tab when you have the phone connected, and clicking apply.
Then close the Music app on the phone:

Swipe left or right until you have located the app you wish to close.
Swipe the app up to close it.
When you have done that and restart the phone and sync the Music to your phone again to re test the issue:

I have been trying to put in new apps but it says I need a newer ios version. It currently has 5.1.1. I have tried resetting it back to factory. I have tried updating it through itunes and the ipad and they both say it is up to date.
The original iPad can't be updated past 5.1.1.
