Itunes 10 and windows xp not working

i have windows xp. itunes 10 is not opening. When i connect the iphone it recognizes it but i cannot synch it

I then get a message that says iTunes has encountered a problem and needs to close.
Generate another of those errors, and click the "Click here" link in the error message box.
What ModName and ModVer are you getting for the error? (Precise text, please.)
If it's a BEX, and so doesn't give a ModName or a ModVer, let us know what P1 through P9 items you're getting.

  • Same issue Network Discovery not working and Windows Update not working

    I've read the threads.
This is a Vista Ultimate upgrade. My OOOOH My I have clocked 8 hours
Everything was working before. I tried all of the recommended  services turning on restarting.
Also, ran into the problem of my memory being eaten. Suspected cause hibernate mode, which I had to disable. Scott Hasselman blog recommended the fix which is a cheap work around that limits machines functionality!!
I'm and IT Engineer specializing in MS product lines since Windows 1.0. MFC foundation classes etc.. What is the real problem ?
I don't have the NetBIOS over tcp/ip in my services?
I figure that the cost of my time and other individuals pays for the OS four times over. Give me a Microsoft developer subscription or something to make me happy. This is my development machine and I'm loosing time and money.
FYI, Just upgraded my second machine to Windows 8.1 OMG !!2 Hours to upgrade after the download. I loose my configuration settings. I required to have a Windows Live whatever account!!! This is not the way to compete and keep customers.
Windows XP has been by far the best deployment experience. I need a Knowledge base that gives solutions , not a troubleshooting scenario that does or does not work!!
Please , don't tell me to go and by a OEM Surface I cannot recommend this to my clients.
    Thank You

    Hi,
If it worked previously, a quick solution is to run System Restore and get back to the previous status when the issue didn’t occur.
    What is System Restore?
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/What-is-System-Restore
When you turn on network discovery, do you get any error prompt?
Please check if you have any error message about network discovery in event viewer.
    Open Event Viewer
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Open-Event-Viewer
What information appears in event logs (Event Viewer)?
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/What-information-appears-in-event-logs-Event-Viewer
Please use Windows Live SkyDrive (http://www.skydrive.live.com/) to upload the Error logs to a public folder and share the URLs with us.
Also, please temporarily turn off your firewall and all the security programs for a test.
As far as I know, Network discovery requires that the DNS Client, DNS Client, Network Connections, Network Location Awareness,  Remote Procedure Call (RPC), Function Discovery
Resource Publication, TCP/IP Netbios helper, SSDP Discovery, and UPnP Device Host services are started and set to automatic.
You should check again if you have started all these services.
Regarding the update issue, I suggest you try the following suggestions.
    1. Temporarily disable firewall and antivirus program to test the issue.
    2. Open the Windows Update troubleshooter
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Open-the-Windows-Update-troubleshooter
    3. Reset Windows Update components

  • Imacs BuggyCrappy: Windows 7 and windows 8 not working

Imac not working as it is supposed to wrt bootcamp windows. Had made rounds to applestore like 10 times and working with online executives. Got to know that fusion drives are not easy to work. Either windows 8 or windows 7 works.
Apple is saying after working with me for more than a month that imca is working as expected. This is so bad from their side. I brought this expensive crappy iMac. Please do not get these products and I';m in no where land.
This device wouldn't let the drvie format it. I'm passed the days that I can return this expensive crappy system. Any suggestions how to get rid of this systems. I've to move away from Apple slowly. Not going to buy single cable from today.

Ok. Good to know that there are some people out there on w7/8. Because Engineering or folks at store still do not have any clue and still they say iMac is good. What the heck.
Again transferred to store now these guys just playing with customers. I always make sure to share the feedback with people out there either good or bad. This helps most of us. That the reason why I've put this post so that people be aware what and how things going on.

  • Itunes ringtones and text tones not working??

I downloaded a ring tone and a text tone, from the itunes store, and it was working great for about three weeks.  I lost charge on my phone yesterday and soon as I powered back up the default ringtones have seemed to take over even though my tones are set to the two tones I downloaded.  any answers to why? or is there a fix available? I also have the latest software update iOS 8.1.2 on my iphone6.

Try doing a hard reboot of the iPhone
    1. hold the power and home buttons down
    2. you will see the "swipe to turn off" screen come up... KEEP HOLDING THE BUTTONS
    3. The screen will go black (turn off)... KEEP HOLDING THE BUTTONS
    4. A white Apple logo will appear on the screen, now you can release the buttons. Left the iPhone boot... should only take a couple minutes.

I don't understand if those features are supposed to work. Cortana is acrivated, I can ask questions but no reply at all. The windows store doesn't work either. Am I missing something?

You can try restoring the apps by attempting the following-
                • In the Search the Web and Windows, type PowerShell
                • Right click on PowerShell and select Run as administrator.
                • Type the following command: Get-AppXPackage | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml"}

iTunes is a free program - it doesn't make good business sense for Apple to hire people to troubleshoot problems on Windows hardware - they'd have to hire hundreds, if not thousands to remote in to PCs and spend time fixing this kind of thing!
If you are getting that message about data execution prevention, you need to get DEP turned off, come **** or high water.
How about turning off UAC, can you even do that?
And with UAC turned off, can you disable DEP?
    How to Disable UAC
Remember you can always turn these back on to keep your system "safe" - this is just a test to get iTunes working.

  • Itunes Match and Photo Share not working

Since upgrading to new ios software I am no longer able to connect at all to photo stream. Also, when I try to turn on itunes match, its spinning as if its downloading my music, but its telling me that I have no music in my library. But, my itunes match works on every other device...etc computer iphone. I tried to do a system restore, but I keep getting a message saying updated was not successful. Is anyone else having this problem?

    Hey guys,
This is an enormously frustrating issue and I am disappointed that it does not seem like Apple is taking it seriously, much less solving it.  I have seen a lot of people desperate to help and I have tried many of the solutions that made sense to me (repair iTunes; create Windows Firewall Exceptions) and ignored the ones that make no sense whatsoever (reboot your Internet gateway; deauthorize your computers).  I am on a Windows 7 x64 machine fully patched, single 8 core CPU with 24GB RAM and 6TB of storage - it ain't the machine...
This seems to be a unique problem to iTunes 10.5.  Here is why I believe this to be true:
    1.  I disabled WFW No result.
    2.  I created WFW exceptions NO result at all.
    3.  I did a repair install of iTunes  - Actually worked for one night.
    4.  Uninstalled iTunes 10.5.  Installed iTunes 10.4 and everything works like a champ.
Apple needs to solve this issue, I'm afraid until they do anything that gets you up and running is temporary.  In any case getting a consumer oriented click-to-install application should not require a project plan and customizations to work properly.  This is true even if WFW needs tweaking that simply tells me they didn't test their installer enough to ensure it properly configured WFW, including removing erroneous entries...not an issue on my machine...
I am standing by for Apple to sort this out...until then 10.4 is my friend.
    Cheers

  • ITunes 10 and windows 7 only works whem manually killing bonjour services,

    Hallo world,
The only way i can get iTunes 10 to work on my windows 7 (AMD) machine is to first kill the bonjour services manually using services.msc.
no fun, after the upgrade it took me 2 days to figure this out.
Anyone know a structural solution or is this an error that will be repaired in the next release.

Does your ASUS also have an ethernet NIC card?
By looking at the Bonjour service, the dependency tab shows Bonjour is dependent on TPCIP. And therefore, the brand of NIC card installed with its drivers or firmware.
I was thinking along those lines...several folks are having this problem and I wondered if it was a certain brand or release of NIC card. I'm sure Apple did not test every NIC card on the market. They'd never get anything released.

  • Photoshop CS and Window 8 not working properly

I have an old cd Photoshop CS from 2003 and I have been using it since. The last time I used my photoshop CS was on my window vista and it ran beautifully. Now I got a new Window 8 and tried to download it, but it didnt run properly and then stopped working because I was unable to click on Agreement and Activate anywhere. I uninstalled it and reinstalled it and it just does not download and stuff.
I am upset that I may not be able to use my photoshop CS anymore unless there are anything I need to do?
    Thank you,

Try running it in Windows XP Compatibility Mode.
If that does not help, post in the appropriate forum; this is the Adobe Reader forum.

  • Keyboard Shortcuts and Window Grouping not working Gnome 3

I recently installed arch with Gnome 3.6.2. Opening a terminal (ctrl+alt+T) was not defined so I made a custom launcher for it.
However, between restarts, this custom launcher stops working. Also, Window Grouping (alt+~) while context-switching works intermittently between reboots. I can't figure out what might be causing the problem as dmesg does not show anything.
Any help would be appreciated! Thanks a lot!

Mohanaraj CS, I'm still using Flash Pro CS6 on my MacBook Pro and the shortcuts don't all work correctly because Flash (German version with German language keyboard setting in OSX) seems to use an US keyboard setting only for the shortcuts internally (if I type into fields, I've got my German layout, but if I want to set up a shortcut like cmd + + for zoom in oder cmd + - for zoom out, it shows cmd + ] and cmd + / instead).
And the "fix" to an obvious bug (as you said by yourself) now is TO BUY CC??
Come on, Adobe Staff, is that how you treat your customers?
A little -known- bug but you have to get (and buy) the cloud thing, if you want it fixed... did you get the bug into the code THEREFORE in the last update?
I really love the Adobe software but this is the baddest joke since a looong time, Mohanaraj CS.

I have installed BootCamp 5.1 and Windows updates not working because it extract files on Mac partition before installation. Is there any workaround for same ?

To replicate this issue - Try to download .net framework 4.5 from microsoft website and than run that setup on windows partition.
Before installation. it will first extract all the binaries to a other drivers, since in my case other primary drive is E which is a Mac partition so it always give me an error while extractiing and therefore setup is not able to execute propely.
Let me try to get the screen shot of error and send it here.

  • Windows error: iTunes crashes (uninstall and reinstall does not work)

    Hello all.
I (and another user) have had a problem with iTunes crashing when trying to open it. Windows just generates the typical vague error message that explains nothing as to what the problem is. Uninstalling and reinstalling did not work, and using the "Repair" option did not work either.
This was the solution. Hope it works for you. Cheers.
    C ;o)
Here are the steps, some might be redundant, but still follow them to try and get iTunes to work.
    1. *Extremely important* Close the QuickTime launcher in the tray on the right side of your Windows TaskBar (right-click on the blue QuickTime "Q" logo next to where you have the time and date and select "exit".) The QuickTime logo should disappear from the tray.
    2. Go to where your iTunes library folder is, copy it and put it elsewhere on yoour hard-drive. This is where you asked your iTunes to point to and keeps the full repository of the files sync'ed to your iPod. If you don't do this, you will have to re-create the full library of all the music and files you have put into iTunes.
    3. Unistall iTunes and reboot your PC.
    4. Go to c:\Program Files\Quicktime and delete this whole folder.
    5. Go to c:\Windows\System 32 and: delete the Quicktime FOLDER there; then (ii) scroll down and delete all other QuickTime related files (there should be 5-10 of them, I didn't count, some will have a name like QuickTMvr whatever).
    6. Empty Recycle Bin.
    7. Reboot your PC.
    8. Go back to Apple Website and download: iTunes, and (ii) QuickTime installation only (without iTunes).
    9. Install QuickTime FIRST (use newly downloaded version)! Check it works OK by opening it.
    10. Close QuickTime lanucher from tray, as explained above in step 1.
    11. Install iTunes (use the newly downloaded version).
    12. Open iTunes. If it opens fine (clap your hands and say "hurray", and actually I said out loud to my PC, "Please work" and it did - I don't know if this step helped at all. ;o) ), then close iTunes FIRST BEFORE DOING THE NEXT STEP. Go to where the new iTunes (and library) folder is, rename the new iTunes folder (as you might notice when/if you open iTunes, that it is all blank), and copy the old iTunes folder (from step 2) to the same location. Re-open iTunes. It should be the way it opened the last time.

    Btw.
Don't forget that, from my experience, most iTunes errors comes from malfunctioning instances of QuickTime.
