ITunes 10 does not add album art to 'Now playing' song

If an artwork is added to a song being played, via drag&drop into the artwork box or copy-paste or via the 'Get Info' window, it is not displayed in the artwork box; it is, however, visible in the Artwork section of the 'Get Info' window.
The cover art is displayed only after another song is played or iTunes is re-launched.
Any ideas anyone?
iTunes 10.6.3
OS X Lion 10.7.4

I called Apple and was told that I needed to restore the iPod. The problem is that I had purchased and installed the January upgrade on my iMac and not my MacBook.
I restored the iPod on the iMac and then synced to the MacBook.
Problem solved!

  • IPod Touch not displaying album art in "now playing" view

I recently migrated my iTunes library from my iMac to my MacBook. I did not experience any problems with the migration, and did it over my wireless home network.
Since then, some of my album artwork will not show in the "now playing" view on my iPod touch, but they do show in cover flow and in iTunes. I have synced numerous times, but that has not solved my problem.
Help! This is driving me crazy!

  • ITunes does not add album art though being added manually..

    Hello people..
i have this problem, i just bought an iPod and used the iTunes 9 for the library and all. got some of the artwork from the store and some i downloaded manually and tried adding them..
now the thing is, it saved some of the artwork that i added manually and then it stopped doing that.. i tried restarting and closing iTunes and then opening it again, but it didn't work.. i don't know why!
    any help please?

Would the problem album have all tracks by the same artist? If there are guest artists, your phone is not set up to Use Album Artists, and you're selecting the album via the Artist menu that might explain the issue.
For general tips see Grouping tracks into albums.
It may help to look at a concrete example with details of which tracks do and don't make it to the iPhone.

  • Itunes 10.5 not showing album art or syncing it to my ipod touch

I updated iTunes and suddenly it's now showing any of my album art? The artwork is still showing up on my iPod touch 4g, just not on iTunes. Also when I add artwork to an album it isn't syncing to my iPod at all. Just curious if I'm the only one having this problem or if anyone has a solution?

  • ITuned 9 "automatically add to itunes" folder does not add files

Help! I am new to iTunes 9, just built a Win 7 HTPC works well but now wanting to add all of my music to iTunes. Have approx 7k songs in iTunes but when I drop any other folders into the Automatically Add to iTunes folder created by iTunes it does nothing with the files. They are not added to the library, they are not moved or deleted.
It makes no difference if I re-start iTunes or if I give the application Administrator privilages. Help / ideas please...

I too, have an external drive and it works for me.
The "Automatically Add to iTunes" folder should be in the "iTunes Media" folder on your Music drive. I created a shortcut to this folder and put it on my desktop. I can drag mp3's to this shortcut and they get added to iTunes.
Check your iTunes Advanced Preferences. The "iTunes Media folder location" should be "/Volumes/Music/iTunes Media". You *may* have to check "Keep iTunes Media folder organized".

  • While playing, Front Row does not display album art but a white image only

When I go through my music library via Front Row, the album art is still visible, however, as soon as I play a track, the cover disappears and there's a white square instead that, as usual, changes its position from the left to the right side. Could that be due to size limitations? My album art is 2400 x 2400, approximately 4 MB each. Thanks.

Same for me on my Mac Mini: I can see the shared pictures but can't see the ones in the local library. Funny thing is that I can see that library from my other Mac.
Also I noticed that one picture appeared in the middle of the (empty) slideshow, only 1 of 67. In the list view, those pictures appear normally, as you can see in this screenshot http://d.pr/eiXB
    I'm a first-time iLife user, so I don't know if the issue is '11-specific.

  • Itunes upgrade does not show albums

I just upgraded to itunes 11.0.1.12 - none of previous albums or songs are showing up.
The only thing showing is my son's voice memos.  Furthermore, the ipod is not showing
    up as a device.

I am using the built in XML DB HTTLP listener, so I uploaded the images to the database using the 'apxldimg' script. These uploaded successfully, I did not receive any errors. Is this something that is contained in an image?
    Thanks,
    Manish

    Vanguard,
You are welcome.  As I gather you have now figured out, any of the other formats (AAC, MP3, AIFF, or Apple Lossless) can handle artwork just fine.
    Enjoy the music!

  • How do I add album art not using iTunes

How do I add album art without first importing the songs into iTunes? Is there a program that will do this?

Well, my preferred method is to use a web search engine, restrict it to display artwork, then choose the best.  Slow but sure.
Browse the wwww.pure-mac.com web site for free utilities out there.  I am sure there are many commercial packages to "clean up" iTunes but frankly I think they are hype.
See if there is something on the Dougscripts web site.
I know I have utilities such as XLD that do it as part of the CD ripping process.

  • How do you add album art in iTunes 12? everything I've tried doesn't work

how do you add album art in iTunes 12?

    Two methods:
Right-click on the album, select Get Album Artwork.  iTunes will determine whether this album is available from the iTunes Store and, if so, download the artwork image from the Store and associate it with the media files.
Right-click on the album, select Get Info and then the Artwork tab,  Then:
click the Add Artwork button, navigate to and select an image file on your computer, or
drag and drop an image file from your computer to the Artwork tab, or
copy an image to the clipboard (for example, from a web page) go to the Artwork tab and press Ctrl-V (there's a bug in iTunes 12.0.1.26 such that right-click > paste does not work here
For the second method, you can also access the "old style" editor window from iTunes 11 by holding down Shift as you right-click > Get Info.
Lastly, there are three cases in which you can follow these procedures but artwork is not correctly associated with or embedded in your media files:
your media are in a format that doesn't accommodate embedded artwork - typically WAV files.  To embed artwork you'll need to convert to another format - Apple Lossless or AIFF if you want to preserve lossless quality, AAC or MP3 otherwise.
your media files are read only - to fix this, use Windows Explorer to find the folder that contains your files, right-click and select Properties.  On the General tab there's a check box labeled "Read-only" - if this is checked, or is grey (sometimes blue), click the box so that the flag is unchecked and the box is white.  Click OK, and then OK again when the "Apply changes to this folder, subfolders and files" option selected.  Now try adding the artwork again.
Windows permissions issues are preventing iTunes from updating your media files (there's some anecdotal evidence of a change in this behavior in iTunes 12).  See turingtest2's notes on Repair security permissions for iTunes for Windows for advice on fixing this, then try adding the artwork again.

  • I can no longer add album art work in iTunes version 10.6.0.40

WHY can I no longer add album art work in iTunes version 10.6.0.40? It is maddening. I have checked many boards and discussion groups but no one has a sure fix. Why is Apple not tending to this problem? They of all groups should know the importance of how something looks.

I had the the same problem albeit with an m4v (same hardware and OS rev too!, iTunes 10.6.3). I was able to add the movie to a new library per Limnos' suggestion here, indicating that iTunes wasn't totally busted. However, I was also able to see the movie in the Recently Added smart playlist (another hat tip to Limnos), although it still did not appear in the Movies section of my iTunes library. (It was also in the iTunes Library.xml file.)
So I called AppleCare, and they directed me to move the file from the external drive where it was living, into the /Users/<Your Name Here>/Movies directory, and to "Add to Library" (Command-O) from that location. Sure enough (and much to my surprise), it showed up immediately (duplicated, actually) in the Movies section of my iTunes library. Subsequent additions to my Library have not misbehaved similiarly.

  • ITunes Store does not show author and "album artwork" of my podcast

Although all information is available - the itunes store does not mention the author and "album artwork" of my podcast - if podcast is downloaded, album artwork is shown...
How can I add the informatin (especially that author is not "unknown" anymore)
    http://itunes.apple.com/de/podcast/nie-mehr-schuchtern-der-podcast/id404201576?i =88951302

For reference, you feed is at http://kontaktvoll.de/tinc?key=r5FOIixD
This is not a valid podcast feed for iTunes. It's missing the 'itunes declaration' in the second line. The top two lines of your feed should read as follows:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <rss xmlns:itunes="http://www.itunes.com/dtds/podcast-1.0.dtd" version="2.0">
Without that, iTunes cannot read the 'itunes' tags which are necessary to carry some of the information, and which in any case are missing from your feed. The author name is carried in the 'itunes:author' tag and the image in the 'itunes:image' tag.
This page contains a basic sample feed so you can see what it should look like and how these tags are formed:
    http://www.wilmut.org.uk/pc
If you are hand-writing this feed it's a good idea to put returns in after each closing tag, as in the sample. At the moment most of your feed is on one line and this makes it very difficult to read when looking for problems, particularly as you add more episodes.

  • Why cant I add album art in itunes 5?  ANNOYING!!!

Well... I really cant understand why the heck I cant add album art anymore?

Ok, ran into the same problem but it is related to 4.9 as well.
Reading those other posts and trying to figure out why all of sudden I can no longer add artwork, I was getting the message saying that "Album Artwork Not Modifiable" for an song I just added, then I notice other songs and albums were showing the same thing.
Then I notices an item that I had not notice before when I did a right click or control click, there was an option in the drop down menu that said convert to mp3, which I thought was odd since they were already mp3, for grins I did it and it converted. In the info window it said it was an mp3 encoded with itune 4.9 and guess what it now allowed me to add the artwork.
The other thing I notice was for all the songs which I added to my library they did not have any of the typical information about the file like sample rate and bit rate, not until I did the convert did that information show up.
So you will have to go through each song and do a convert to mp3 in your current version of itunes to get the artwork to show up which totally s#@ks....

  • Very Strange and nasty iTunes (not iPod) Album Art Problem

    Hi,
I have the latest version of iTunes for Windows and I have never noticed this before on a previous version, but when I try to add album art to most (over 90%) of songs, the addition won't stay if I select another song.
Even worse, if I try to add art while the song is playing, not only will the addition dissappear, the song corrupts in the process. It's as if the jpeg file is inserted into the audio data itself, as the song will grow by a number of seconds (the growth consists of skips and repeats.)
I'm using iTunes with Windows Media Center. I have iTunes maintain my music folder, while Media Player / MCE monitors nothing. I also have a Media Center Extender setup (an Xbox360) that accesses my music as well (through the media player / MCE database.)
None of my music files are tagged as read-only. I have a suspicion that the cause of the problem may be along similar lines (file permissions, access, etc.) but nothing I've
tried works (including resetting all file permissions.)
In addition, none of the iTunes Art Importers work. In using the most popular one (iTunes Art Importer,) the program crashes to a .NET/CLR debugger when I try to import art. Looking at the stack trace, it appears as if the error concerns DLL access.
Any help on this issue would be greatly appreciated, as this is a pretty horrible bug (as it has ruined several songs.)
    Thanks,

Use the SHIFT-Launch iTunes method to get iTunes waiting for a library. Stick the iPod in disk mode and connect to the computer. Browse *My Computer* and right-click on the drive for the iPod, click Properties, then click Tools. Under Error-checking, click *Check Now*. Under Check disk options, select *Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors* (Optional - takes ages but a good idea if you've reason to suspect physical damage). Click Start. Mac users should run *Disk Utility / Repair Disk* for the equivalent process. This should find and correct any errors in the logical & physical structures of your iPod's hard drive which may be causing the problem. When the process is complete disconnect the iPod and then reset it (hold Menu+Select ). Cancel the waiting iTunes dialog and then try to connect in the normal way.
If that still doesn't work you could try Erase your iPod - The Super Fix for most iPod Problems. Basically a low level format of the iPod’s hard drive to get around whatever problems are stopping iTunes from working with it.
Have you tried connecting the iPod to another computer to see if the issues is focused on the iPod or iTunes?

  • HT1849 when I download album works from itunes it does not associate with the correct artist

when I download album works from itunes it does not associate with the correct artist

Where are you looking to download them from ? You might be able to redownload them via the Purchased link under Quicklinks on the right-hand side of the iTunes store homepage on your Mac's iTunes. If that album shows there but doesn't have the cloud symbol against it for redownloading then that implies that it's still in your iTunes library
