ITunes 10 install failure (OS X 10.6.4)
Tried iTunes 10 install (upgrade from 9.2.1) using Software Update and from local download of iTunes 10. Both failed with "The installation failed." While writing files, an installation script error briefly appeared.
You could try downloading directly from the iTunes download page. May have been something wrong with your download files:

How much free space to do you have on your Hard Drive? To little free space could cause problems.

Current ITunes user on Windows 7 & app working fine. Dialog box pops up stating update to install. Proceeded but install failed with suggestion to download update. Down loaded off Apple web site. Itunes install failure - HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\.aif\OpenWithProgIds
Hi Guys,
I am admin on this machine. I have tried regedit as suggested for the .cdda error (1402 1406 errors) with the .aif\OpenWithProgIds entry, but have had no luck
1. There is no key within this subdirectory (Get error - 'Cannot Open OpenWithProgIds: Error while opening key')
2. Trying to update the permissions meets with failure as there is nothing to update the permissions on. I have checked on the .cdda entry and I can do this no problem).
The full message I am getting while trying to install is:
Could not open key:
HKEYLOCALMACHINE\Software\Classes\.aif\OpenWithProgIds.
Verify that you have sufficent access to
that key, or contact your support personnel.
I do have adequate permissions.
Please can you help?This isn't really my thing but no one else has replied.
A few thoughts, if this is an upgrade, are you using the same account to do the upgrade as you used for the original install? If now it might be worth trying the other account.
Although you account has admin status, it might be worth logging in as THE adminstrator, if you haven't done that.
Although you don't have HKEYLOCALMACHINE\Software\.aif\OpenWithProgIds, you didn't say if you have HKEYLOCALMACHINE\Software\.aif - if you do it might be worth checking permission there.

Trying to install on my PC after receiving my brand new IPad2 yesterday. Install fails due to Quicktime already installed. I cannot figure a way around it. Please help.;
Hi there - don;t know if this will help, but I have had to restore my computer several times and always have a problems with itunes after. I have just had the problem again and found this article. By following all the advice, I was able to get itunes back running again.

The other thing to do is delete the Quicktime icon from your desktop toolbar. Also in the section which talks about Emptying your Temp Directory, my system would not let me do this as some files were "bring used", so I went into the temp folder and manually deleted any which related to itunes or Quicktime.

Well I posted the same question several months ago and eventually gave up and havnt used my iTouch since.
While instaling iTunes everything goes fine until it goes to instal Bojour then it fails. I cannot get around this problem and have tried everythign on the site to try and get iTunes to work. Please help me I need to use it again!I do not know if this will help...I bought my wife anIPOD for Christmas and kept getting problems with "Bonjour Services". In the end I went to the control panel and from there to add/remove programs. I had to remove EVERY Apple program....old versions of ITunes, Bonjour, Safari, and Quick time. It it said apple I removed it. Then shut the PC off and restarted it. The download worked fine that time. Good Luck!

ITunes install failure on Windows desktop report missing MSVCR80.dll
I need iTunes in order to manage my iPad and iPhone4. After download en installing iTunes 11.1.14 on my Windows 7 Ultimate desktop I got a message iTunes was not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes. Error 7 (Windows error 126) and report of missing MSVCR80.dll. I tried several times but got same fallure report. Could anybody help me to solve this problem?

I have a HP Laptop with a bit of an issue. It runs Windows 7 64bit, and hasn't had any issues till now.
I have a 4th gen iPod Touch. I let it update it's IOS to v6, only to find that was an error.
The version of iTunes I have installed is 10.5.1.42 32bit. This might sound strange, but the original version that was downloaded by Apple to this machine was, in fact, the 32bit version.
The trouble starts because the IOS requires iTunes 10.6.3 to access it. When iTunes tries to update, it doesn't download. So I manually went to iTunes.com and dl'd the lattest version it would let me have: 10.7 64bit.
When I try to install, the installer failes shortly after it starts, and tells me nothing has been changed. Tried this several times, to no avail.
So now I'm backing up 67gigs of iTunes data files, and hoping someone with a bigger brain than me in this situation can suggest a fix. I don't have any copy of iTunes 10.5.x to try a reinstall, and am a bit leery about UNinstalling just to give 10.7 another try. If it fails even then, I'll have no access to the Touch at all.

Doublechecking something. By any chance, did you use the PC Mover utility to move the iTunes application and your iTunes content from a 32-bit system to your current 64-bit system? -
Yet Another iTunes Install Failure
Before you refer me to other topics, please hear me out. I have looked at many of them, and their problems have been solved. Mine? Nope. I just started a topic about my iPod not being recognized by iTunes, but this time I installed AppleMobileDeviceSupport then installed iTunes. This version is different, judging by the install screen. Just like my other computer, the installer finishes and says "The Installer encountered errors before iTunes could be configured." I hate this! It happens to me everytime. I tried reinstalling, deleting the installer and re-downloading, using the Windows Program Cleaner software, etc. but same thing.
I'm hoping for a response by the next Super Bowl... XD
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm just ready for all these errors to stop happening!If it makes you feel any better I am having the same exact issues, and I've tried everything I can too. After reading about people's libraries disappearing though, maybe I don't want to upgrade!!!

ITunes install is creating unexpected errors (this has never happened)
Let me just start off by saying, I have been using iTunes for almost four years; I love the program. Recently, my friend left the country about a month and a half ago (he was the computer expert), I have been unable to access iTunes for about a week now based on the following error with Windows Vista: An error occurred during the installation of assembly 'Microsoft.VC80.CRT, version="8.0.50727.4053:, type="win32,publicKeyToken="1fc8b3b9a1e8e3b",processor Architecture="x86". It told me to refer to Help and Support for more information. HRESULT: 0x80070422.
I am no computer guru, I have no idea what this means or who can fix it. I have uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes over 10 times. Additionally, Apple Mobile Device Support will not uninstall. When I do get iTunes and Quicktime installed it tells me that I am missing CoreAudio.dll, CoreVideo.dll, and CoreAudioToolbox.dll; once again, I am not a computer guru, I have no idea what this means. These ones are usually caused by an underlying problem on the PC that can also stop Windows Updates from installing. So my main strategy with them is to try to get the Windows update trouble fixed, which usually clears up the iTunes install trouble +en passant.+
Open your Windows Update and open your Update History. Have Windows Updates been failing for you recently? If so, doubleclick on the failures showing up in your update history. In the small box that comes up, what error code is shown for the Windows Update failures? Is it an 0x80070422 like your iTunes install error, or is it a different code? If they are different error codes, what error codes are you getting for the Windows Update failures? -
Itunes install fails on windows vista
I had done an update to iTunes some time ago. It failed. I tried all the methods to fix it and in the end removed iTunes, Quicktime, etc. I have removed the programs. deleted the directories and cleaned the registries of the misc entries (using RegCure) rebooting in between each step.
the exact message is "Service 'iPod Service' (iPod Service) failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services.
I only have one user made on the machine - which is of course admin. I have tried changing ownership and permissions on the iPod directory after it is created all to no avail.
Please just don't link the the "remove iTunes from a windows vista machine" thread. I have run the MS cleanup utility also. I have tried all kinds of things people have suggested and so far none have worked. PLEASE help me.I had used msconfig and aggressively turned off startups and services. I had not done it after a fresh uninstall and cleanup and reboot though. Just the reboot as part of applying the changes made and trying to reinstall iTunes. I had just completed that to no avail.
So what I just tried was as follows:
1. Uninstalled all Apple software including QuickTime, Bonjour, Software Updater and Mobile Device Support using the Apple guide.
2. Rebooted.
3. Ran RegCure to remove misc registry entries no longer associated with iTunes, etc.
4. Ran MS Installer Cleanup Wizard.
5. Deleted any remaining Apple directories in c:\Program Files.
6. Rebooted.
7. Ran msconfig and aggressively deselected startups and services. Ensured iTunes and iPod where selected. Ensured selective startup was selected.
8. Rebooted.
9. Downloaded and reinstalled iTunes.
10. Received the same failure notices - the failed to start one and if i tried to start the iPod service manually through the service manager, failed to respond in a timely manner message. The events log for the iTunes install error is "A timeout was reached (30000 milliseconds) while waiting for the iPod Service service to connect." and the event log for the manual start from the service manager attempt is: "The iPod Service service failed to start due to the following error:
The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion."
11. Changed permissions for all entries in the permissions list to full control.
12. Tried reinstall - failure.
13. Took ownership of c:\program files\ipod directories and files.
14. Tried reinstall - failure.
15. To make sure I tried the install two times - once with my iPod connected and once without.
16. Wrote this entry in the forums.
Previously I had tried the new admin user you had suggested. -

My Lenova will not update the iTunes software. The failure alert states iTunes64.msi not found.
(1) Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility installer file (msicuu2.exe) from the following Major Geeks page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page).

After clicking one of the circled links, you should be taken to another page, and after a few seconds you should see a download dialog appear for the msicuu2.exe file. Here's a screenshot of what it looks like for me in Firefox:
Choose to Save the file. If the dialog box does not appear for you, click the link on the page that says "CLICK HERE IF IT DOES NOT". Here's a screenshot of the page with the relevant link circled:
When the dialog appears, choose to save the file.
(2) Go to the Downloads area for your Web browser. Doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file and follow the prompts to install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (If you're on a Windows Vista or Windows 7 system and you get a Code 800A0046 error message when doubleclicking the msicuu2.exe file, try instead right-clicking on the msicuu2.exe file and selecting "Run as administrator".)
(3) In your Start menu click All Programs and then click Windows Install Clean Up. The Windows Installer CleanUp utility window appears, listing software that is currently installed on your computer.
(4) In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
(5) Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time? -
Install Failure 1628 on Virtual PC Windows XP
I tried to install iTunes/Quicktime many times on Mac G5 OS 10.3.9 using Virtual PC 7 and Windows XP.
After several tries iTunes installed, but not Quicktime. Tried Stand Alone Quicktime and it fails.
Ran Windows Installer Cleanup which apparently helped some of you with same problem on PCs. But I get same failure 1628 and sometime error -1 and others.
Any solutions?

Most of the songs on my iPod Classic no longer show up on iTunes on my laptop. I deleted iTunes & installed the latest version but this did not change anything. For example on 1 playlist I have 66 songs but only 1 shows on the iTunes screen. Thanks you for any help.

Remote Install Failure on AIA 3.0:
AIA 3.0 installations on Windows XP-Pro is failing in Step 4 of 11 with the Error
"Node manager is down or the username and password entered is incorrect"
Details on the installation are as follows:
1) Installation is done on a Windows-XP 32 bit SP2, RAM - 4 GB.
2) SOA Suite 11gR1 PS1 and Weblogic 10.3.2 successfully installed.
3) SOA managed server, Admin server and node manager are running successfully on remote server.
4) The status of Node manager is reachable and has been confirmed through the admin console.
5) When installing AIA 3.0 use Remote Install option, the 4th step is failing after providing the node manager credentials of remote server.
Error message is "Node manager is down or the username and password entered is incorrect".
6) We given remote server configuration on 4th step (Host Name, Admin Port, Domain name, user/pass).
7) The Remote WLS Server is reachable.
8) Installer is always looking local node manager is not looking for Remote node manager which one is running on remote machine.

may be you enter the wrong username or password? Or there is a problem with certificate? The look file describe a wrong user name or password or nm is not reachable. Is it possible to start managed server via Admin Console? Please check nm log files.

I already had itunes installed on my pc. I received an update and tried to install it. I got a message
This application failed to start because MSVCR80.dll was not found. Reinstalling may fix the problem.
I uninstalled itunes and tried to reinstall. itunes says it has installed but when I try to open itunes I get the same message.
How do I repair/sort out this error/fault
