Itunes 10 is dividing my Podcasts in 2.

Hello you learned folks.
I've just upgraded to Itunes 10 via software update and have this issue regrding my podcasts. When I opened my itunes for the first time after the upgrade, all is fine except that my 300 or so podcasts from Joyce Meyer have got devided in 2 parts of 100 odd+200odd.I've tried many things but they just wouldn't consolidate under one group like before.
Anyone knows what can be the reason?
Thanks

there are no other erros phone works fine only the transfering music part...also usually when i plug in my charger into my phone itunes will automactially open up..now it doesnt.. just iphoto opens...i didnt have any of these problem for the update...i also plugged in my ipod touch thinking it was just my phone not working..but i still couldnt upload music onto my ipod touch so its not the phone i assume...

  • How can I set iTunes to check for new podcasts at a specific time of day?

    Hi guys,
Anybody know a work around for this? I thought it was just a matter of clicking the refresh button at the time I want iTunes to look for new podcasts, but it doesn't seem to be the case...
I want iTunes to look for new podcasts at 2 am every day. So, at 2 am, I clicked the refresh button in the Podcasts section in iTunes. It would then say, in the settings, that iTunes last checked for podcasts at 2 am and will look again at 2 am the next day. Awesome, not. Every single time I try this, iTunes always resets itself and decides to look for podcasts at 2:49 pm. I can't work it out.
So, if anyone has a solution, I would love to hear it! I'm on the latest version. 9.0.2. Thanks for reading.
    Regards,
    Daniel

I'm looking for the solution to this issue too. Once or twice, a full system restart has seemed to solve the problem temporarily but it slips back to an afternoon refresh after a few days.
Seems like it would be simple for Apple to allow us to specify a time of day for refreshes in the preferences section.

  • Upgraded iTunes: now cannot see the Podcasts on my iPod nano

I know it sounds odd but I am genuinely sad that I have not been able to use my iPod for two days:
I bought an iPod nano when they first came out and have been very happy with it. Two days ago I upgraded iTunes for the first time (to 7.6.2.9). Since then I have not been able to "see" the Podcasts on my Nano from iTunes.
This is an issue because it is mostly full of music which I'd rather not delete, and the remainder is Podcasts which I download, load, and delete every day.
If I cannot delete the old Podcasts, I cannot fill it up with new ones.
The first thing I did was to upgrade the iPod firmware (to 1.3.1) but I still can't see the Podcasts. I have tried to read the documentation and go through all settings in iTunes, look on the web but with no success.
My friend has a similar generation iPod and iTunes (~7.5). On this version of iTunes, the Podcasts are also gone. When I plug in my friend's iPod it has a Podcast icon as well as the Music icon. The older version of iTunes let me, I think, see the Podcasts together with the Music.
Could I somehow have "deleted" a Podcast icon which iTunes need? Can it be restored save for wiping my beloved iPod clean? Can I gracefully downgrade to an old version of iTunes without losing my Music/Podcast library?
Is anyone familiar with the problem?
    Regards,
    Allan

Allan is this the same problem I have - downloaded a couple of chapters of a podcast onto nano - and they played fine - although I had to search for them to find them. Then connected to computer and wanted to search to delete them but no search brings them up? If it is the same, have you resolved your issue? I have same problem that no more room to store so I want to get rid of the listened to podcasts.(ps I'm on windows not mac) Thanks, Ele

  • ITunes stops updating podcasts / iTunes has stopped updating this podcast because you have not listened to any episodes recently. Would you like to resume updating this podcast?

    Hi,
My iTunes is set to automatically update podcasts and keep the last five episodes of each podcast.
However, iTunes appears to stop updating podcasts after several (five?) unwatched episodes and gives me an exclamation mark in the podcast overview. Clicking on that, I get the message: "iTunes has stopped updating this podcast because you have not listened to any episodes recently. Would you like to resume updating this podcast?"
This is not what I intend... and not  what I  told iTunes to do... (at least this my reading of the below settings)
This stopping is rather less then ideal: (1) if I am going away for two weeks, which I often do, I would still like to have the last five days of news, not the last five days of news back from the date I left, (2) I need to click update for approx. 20 podcast on regular basis, (3) my iPhone is synced to iTunes as soon as I come home, if iTunes does not have the podcasts downloaded, they are not copied over to the iPhone, and the iPhone will attempt to download the episodes via 3G next time I play the podcast on the go, (4) I am mainly using iTunes functions, such as smart playlists and podcasts, through another app (Plex, a fullscreen media player) and it is a pain to have to go to iTunes to manually do things. That is why this bothering me...
How can I get iTunes to behave as intended? (From reading through old posts I know that there is a Doug script adressing this problem, which I have just set up, but I would prefer to use internal settings if possible... maybe I am just missing a setting)
    Thank you for your ideas!

Thank you for the response, Roger!
OK, that's how it is then.
The iTunes podcasts settings should be reworded in that case because it suggest something different from what it does. And, of course, it would be ideal for Apple to make this more flexible and allow users to set up their podcast downloads in their way and not be so motherly (c'mon, Apple, your users are not as dumb as you think, and they have uncapped Internet connections these days anyway)...
Btw., for anyone interested, this is external script I am using now:
    http://dougscripts.com/itunes/scripts/ss.php?sp=updateexpiredpodcasts
Including the "cron job" setup here:
    http://dougscripts.com/itunes/2011/12/updated-update-expired-podcasts-v2-2-and-l aunchd-project/
Cannot tell how well it works because I have just set it up, other members of the forum say it works for them...
If anyone knows of in-app solutions, please share...

iTunes not displaying Talking Walking podcasts – how can I resolve this?
    http://www.talkingwalking.net
    Created on iWeb version 3.0.4
    Mac OS X 10.6.8 (10K549)
Upgraded to Snow Leopard in August 2010 from Tiger.
Originally published 26 podcast episodes using IWeb to MobileMe and successfully had them in the iTunes store.  Then upgraded to Snow Leopard and had consistent problems publishing through iWeb, with messages appearing saying that the site hadn’t published on MobileMe or that the upload had timed out.
This meant that I had to upload the whole site whenever I made a slight change or published a new episode. Some of the pages failed to completely load on the website, and none of the new episodes appeared in the iTunes store.  However, it was still possible to subscribe to the new episodes through the website Subscribe button.
Earlier this year, the original 26 episodes vanished from the ITunes store.
At the end of June, I moved my server from MobileMe to Rage and subsequently the website publishes without any time out messages or pages not fully functioning.  This means that when I come to make updates or add a new episode, I can speedily upload changes.
I have tried to resubmit the feed for the website to the iTunes store but Talking Walking still does not appear in the store (nor do any of the links to the individual podcasts from the website work), however, you can still subscribe to podcasts, but now only those uploaded since August 2010.
I have sent an e mail to iTunes explaining my dilemma but have had no reply.
Would welcome any suggestions as to how I can rectify this issue.  Next year is the fifth anniversary of Talking Walking podcasts and it would be nice to see them available again through the iTunes store.
    With thanks, Andrew

Your feed is at http://www.talkingwalking.net/public/Talking_Walking/rss.xml . It contains episodes running from 23 February 2008 to 20 September 2012 and when you subscribe to this feed in the iTunes application all the episodes appear. The link on your web page is to this feed, so subscribing from the page works OK,
Searching for 'Talking Walking' in the iTunes Store produces a lot of result, none of them relevant or yours. This rather suggests that your podcast has been removed from the Store - if the feed wasn't functioning for an appreciable time this would be a normal reason for removal.
if your feed was originally on MobileMe and you have moved it to another server you have to tell the iTunes Store about this by adding a special tag to the feed - details here:
    http://www.wilmut.webspace.virginmedia.com/notes/podcast.html#move
If you did not do this - and it's now too late - the Store will have been stuck looking for the non-existent old feed, which will very likely get your podcast removed.
You mention seeing the web page for the Store page - it's not possible to check this unless you post the URL.
If the podcast has been removed from the Store you will have to re-submit it as a new one. Unfortunately there is a bug in the automated part of the submissions process which will tell you the feed has already been submitted, even when it's been removed. In order to get round this you will have to change the title of the feed slghtly. You can always change it back later provided that doing so does not change the feed URL - I think this may well happen if you are using iWeb, so be cautious about this.

  • Podcasts in itunes not showing up in podcasts

I have podcasts in itunes, they are not synch'd to the podcasts folder (for lack of better word) on the ipod. they show up in the main playlists.
Anyone have any idea why? or how to solve?

    Richard Wood (bis) wrote:
When you say you "have podcasts", how did the files get on to your computer?
I have subscribed to Podcasts in iTunes and I can confirm that (like RobHoward7) I also have some of those Podcasts showing up in the *Music library*, but mine also appear in the *Podcasts library* . I was under the impression that all the tags in a Podcast were added by the Podcast's creator, not iTunes. This is because Podcasts are not specific to iTunes and not controlled by iTunes, it simply lists them and +goes off to download them+ if asked for by the user. If so, that seems to suggest that it's not iTunes at fault.
    David Bales wrote:
As a workaround, you may want to just create custom playlists...
As an enthusiast of Podcasts, I can say that for various reasons workarounds are definitely not the answer.
My older iPod, (30Gb video) has just returned from "battery replacement surgery" (well actually, the whole thing has been replaced, not repaired) and now some Podcasts are showing up in the music library whereas they did not do so before the repair. Perhaps this is a software problem, because I noticed that my "replacement" iPod has a different model number to the one I gave them.

  • I have recently used iTunes to subscribe to some Podcasts flawlessly. Then suddenly, I could see the latest Podcasts in iTunes, but they were no longer available on my 160GB Classic. All other functions appear ok. Can anyone out there save me from myself

Help ! I have recently used iTunes to subscribe to some Podcasts flawlessly. Then suddenly, I could only view the latest downloaded Podcasts in my iTunes account. I no longer had any Podcasts on my 160GB Classic. Can anyone save me from me ? I would truely appreciate any suggestions or direction. Thank you.    [email protected]

Connect your iPod to iTunes and check on the Device/Podcasts pane; there are several options for which Podcasts are "kept on/left on" the iPod at each Sync. Are they set the way you want? For instance, if the setting is "to keep on the iPod only new Podcasts", that would cause older Podcasts to be removed.
If you need to chnage the setting, you will need to Sync the iPod afterwards for the change to take effect.

  • On the itunes 11 i refreshed my podcast all the prior podcast I've heard are now set to download and i can't find a way to delete them

On itunes 11 I refreshed my podcasts all the prior podcasts that I've already listened to are on my list to download. You used to be able to delete right off the list but I cant seem to do that now.

James Ward4  Thanks for your suggestion.  I have tried the video app and it appears to have some, but not all of the downloads which are viewable without wifi, so I will now review the download process and see if I can capture the missing episodes.  Thanks again.

  • ITunes has stopped updating this podcast...

I'm curious if anyone has a fix for this ACTUAL iTUNES MESSAGE:
"iTunes has stopped updating this podcast becasue you have not listened to any episode recently. Would you like to resume updating this podcast?"
It seems crazy to me that iTunes would just stop updating my podcasts because I haven't listened in a while. It would be just as ridiculous if Tivo stopped recording TV shows because I haven't watched them in a while. It doesnt mean I dont want to listen/watch in the future.
    APPLE: FIX THIS!

Apple, count me as another user who wants you to do something different here. I would prefer to simply get a message that I haven't listened to a podcast in a while then not have it being downloaded. Especially now with advanced subscription settings that let us change the subscription on a per-podcast basis, this behavior should be changed. Maybe it's already in the queue?
    Suggested change:
Just warn with option to stop warning, but always continue to download as per subscription settings.
I have a number of podcasts that I'm "subscribed to" but I don't listen to as regularly as they are published. However when i'm going to hit the road, I want those episodes there, especially on my ipod. I don't want to have wait for them to all update!

  • ITunes has stopped updating this podcast because you have not listened . .

I found an archived article from two years ago: http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=8453115 and have found subsequent articles talking about outboard solutions that I have tried and do not work. The problem continues to this day. Why doesn't Apple just fix this themselves?
Exact text of the message, as if it is a mystery: iTunes has stopped updating this podcast because you have not listened to any episodes recently. Would you like to resume updating this podcast?
Yes. Yes. Permanently, yes. Stop asking the question.

Yes. Yes. Permanently, yes. Stop asking the question.
Although you may not like the way it's set up, Apple appears to have done this deliberately and therefore does not consider it broken. I suspect that they do it that way to conserve bandwidth.
Submit your feedback to Apple requesting something different here:

  • ITunes not Posting my new Podcasts

I've already posted 2 podcasts to iTunes after being approved and everything went fine. Now, I'm trying to send 2 more podcasts, from my iWeb, but they will not feed to iTunes, not showing up in the store under my name. What could be "blocking" these?
RSS feed error? Mobile me issue?

To ping the iTunes server to update your podcast information, by enter the following URL into a browser:
    https://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZFinance.woa/wa/pingPodcast?id=FEEDID
where FEEDID is your iTunes podcast numeric ID. You can also use:
    https://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZFinance.woa/wa/pingPodcast?feedURL=http://FEEDURL
where FEEDURL is the url for your feed.
You will get an immediate reply from the iTunes server. Check to see that the feed URL that it shows is the correct one.

iTunes is not reading your feed at all because there is a parsing error in Episode 7:
    <item>
    <title>Episode 7 - How to Invade Africa</title>
    <link>http://thehistoryofpodcast.blogspot.co.uk/2012/07/a-history-of-hannibal-episode- 7-how-to.html/link>
There is no '<' in the closing 'link' tag and this is wrecking the feed.

  • "Itunes has stopped updating your podcast" message -- is there away around?

When new podcasts are downloaded into Itunes, I transfer them straight to my ipod. I don't play them in Itunes.
As a result, I have to tell Itunes that I DO want to continue downloading new files - for every podcast to which I subscribe, on a recurring basis.
Seems to me that transferring the file shows signs of interest - same as playing.
Is there a way to set Itunes to treat a transfer to the ipod the same as playing it?

You're right, there is no way to turn off this asinine, infuriating feature. It's this kind of thing that drove me away from Windows and made me so happy when I got a Mac. I felt like I didn't have to fight the Windows Big Brother anticipating my needs and only allowing me to do things in a way that Windows wanted me to.
Anyways, there is a partial solution, although its pretty sad compared to how easy it would be if Apple included a little checkbox in the options menu that said "Do you want iTunes to stop downloading your podcasts if you listen to them in any other way than on iTunes, even if you listen to them on your (Apple) iPod?". Go to http://www.dougscripts.com and check out the NeedleDrop script. It will let you automatically play 1 second or so of each podcast in your directory. You can then tell iTunes to update your podcasts and it will retrieve all of them, as it should anyways. One downside is that you'll have to run the NeedleDrop script every so often to update the playcount of your podcasts. Another downside, if you're a Windows user, is that the AppleScript will only work on Mac.
As a tangent (read "rant"), iTunes is becoming really annoying lately. For starters, the interface has been looking more and more repulsively Windows-esque for the last few versions. Just recently, when I updated to the latest version of iTunes, it took me a week or so to delete the previous version because there was an application called "iTunes Helper" that wouldn't close. It didn't appear in the list of processes on my computer. Finally I found that it was a startup item in my list of startup programs. After disabling it, I was finally able to delete the old version of iTunes. Now iTunes doesn't update my podcasts if I don't listen to them in a way that iTunes deems fit. What is going on? Ugly interface, hidden processes, uncontrollable "features". Is Apple outsourcing their development to Microsoft or something?

While syncing movie iPod/iTunes deletes my music and Podcasts. This is very frustrating becaucse I have ALL my sync settings set to Manual. What can I do to stop this? I'm about to throw my iPod against the wall!

sorry you've just been dealt a blow from Apple trying to "help" its customers. you're correct: you cannot sync only music or movies. even if "manually sync" is selected, once you sync something like moves, the rest of your library gets deleted. it's completely backwards and non-intuitive.
