ITunes 10: Randomly Changes Track Number to Extraordinarily High Numbers

I am running the latest version of OS X and iTunes. Failed attempts to fix this included, updating the ID3 Tag Version to 2.4, re-installing iTunes and verifying the HDD health using Disk Utility.
Any help would be appreciated!

No. Keep hoping it gets addressed with the latest update. I have no solution, but I've noticed a couple of things:
It only happens to Tracks 1's.
It seems to only happen when you play a song out of iTunes.

ITunes doesn't import Track Number

Hi, I am having a problem with iTunes 7 and my new iPod 60GB Video. I currently have my entire library in Windows Media Lossless Format. When I have iTunes convert these files it often assigns all files or almost all files to track number 1 instead of the correct track. Does anyone know how to fix or correct this so it imports the correct track number?

I'm having the same problem. Oddly enough, the track numbers do import correctly for some albums, even though I encoded them all identically using Microsoft's Encoder version 9. I've been playing around with the tags trying to find some explanation. No luck so far.

Pandora Randomly Changes Tracks

Has anyone else had issues with Pandora changing tracks in the middle of the song? Each track I start to play goes for about 20 seconds and then changes to a new song. I have been through the settings and haven't found anything. I thought maybe I was in a sample mode or something but I have no idea what's up. Thoughts from anyone? Thanks in advance for the help.

Hmmm. Thanks for the reply but I'm still not seeing it. I have normal pandora not pandora one. The only options I see in preferences is Cell Network Audio Quality, Auto-Lock, and Low Memory Settings.

Randomly changes tracks?

When listening to a podcast in the midlle (randomly and repeatedly) it will just skip to the next episode? What is wrong? Super frusterating

ITunes / iPod randomly changes the "Volume Adjustment" setting to -100%

This is a strange, unnerving problem I've run into recently. I hope someone can help!
A few (5% or so?) of my song files were nearly inaudible after transferring them to my iPod - even though they sounded fine before the move. I finally (after deleting many good files) discovered that the "Volume Adjustment" setting on these files was somehow moved all the way down to -100%. Does anyone know how or why this might be happening?

The same thing goes for the EQ Preset setting.

ITunes mixes up the track order of songs within an album??

My iTunes mixes up the track order, and there is no way to specifically order it by track. i have even gone and individually marked each song as ie(2 of 12) but it still lists them in a random order. How can I make the songs fit in their original order? And none of that "click at the top to order it by artist, album, or time etc," because it doesn't click above track number.

If the songs are in a playlist open iTunes then click on the playlist. Click on the number column (extreme left). Click on the song you want to move and drag it to where you want it to be. Right click on the playlist name and select "Copy to play order". Connect your iPod, if you are updating automatically it will pick up the change. If you are updating manually then you connect first and when the iPod appears in the source list carry out the process above directly in the playlist on your iPod. Make sure neither Shuffle or Repeat are switched on in the playlist, either of those can prevent you reordering tracks.
If the tracks are out of order in the library try this, I found that it works for me. Right click at the top of any column in your iTunes library and choose **Track Number** from the list. Click at the top of this new column to sort it and after that click on the Album column. If you like you can then click on Artist, it will continue to hold the track order as well. Afterwards anything you import should follow this arrangement Artist>Album>Track Number within Album (you can hide the track number column when you've done if you don't want it cluttering up the view)

Changing track order after importing

I am trying to import opera CDs into my iTunes library. Operas usually take up 2 or 3 CDs, and when I try to upload the multiple CDs to my library, iTunes mixes up the order of the tracks so that I can't listen to the opera in order. How do I change the order of the tracks in the iTunes library so that I can listen to the opera in order?

Try this, I found that it works for me. Right click at the top of any column in your iTunes library and choose **Track Number** from the list. Click at the top of this new column to sort it and after that click on the Album by year column. If you like you can then click on Artist, it will continue to hold the track order as well. Afterwards anything you import should follow this arrangement Track Number>Album>Artist. Make sure the little triangle on the right side of the track number column header is pointing up. In that direction the column is sorted in Ascending order (lowest to highest).

Can you change the track number of a song got from the iTunes store?

I am trying to change the track numbers of stuff I have purchased from iTunes store. I have found that even if you change them in the Info tab section it doesn't actually change. I purchased a load of Muse B-sides and stuff from the iTUNES store and wanted to make them all into an album of b-sides all numbered 1 to whatever, but even if I do change the number like I said, when I put it onto my ipod it still seems to keep the track number it had originally. Say I purchased track 2 of a single. But on the cd I burn I want it to be track 7. So I burn the cd with all the tracks in the order I want them with Itunes ( having changed their track numbers as well in the info section ) but when I rip the cd back into Itunes and put it onto my pod the track that was track 7 on the cd ( but was originally track 2 off a single i purchased ) becomes track 2 again when it on my ipod? Any way round this?

Make a playlist and put them in whatever order you like within that playlist.

ITunes 7 changes the mp3 filenames introducing a track number.this is crazy

Hi everyone:
I have a small network at home where everyone hook up to my computer so we can all enjoy my music.
The problem is that I decided to step forward into iTunes 7.
I've discovered that for a unknown reason, it has changed all the names for my archives!!!!
How can I undo this.......

I seem to have found the problem. Some mp3 files that did not have a track number set had nonsense data for the track ID3 'TRCK'. Setting it solves the problem (you can even erase it later).

Song and Artist Info missing under itunes but not in the original file, and putting track number next to certian songs. Help

i recently updated my itunes...today i opened it up and moticed abuout 100 songs missing...they are now at the bottom of itunes song list with a number next to them with information mission such as this the example below
01 human                                                                 (this song should have the killers name as artist and cd title, etc)
01 hosanna     hillsong united                                 (this song should have the cd title to it)
02 lay me down                                          burning light
02 leave out all the rest
02 let it be                       the beatles
03 papercut
when i go under the original folders and files in the itunes folder everything is normal no missing info, etc. but under itunes orgnising its picking and choosing the same songs and putting the track number next to it and others songs in the same cd not. plus info missing. under the infor when i click right button all info missing there...but not under original file.

A response on this subject from another post:
It could be that you have inadvertently imported these CDs into iTunes as part of a compilation. If so, the artists won't show in the artists menu on the iPod.
To check, highlight the tracks on one of the offending artists CDs in iTunes, right click and select "get info". This brings up a multiple song info window, and from there you can check if you have 'yes' in the box marked "part of a compilation".
If you have, select 'no' instead and click 'ok'. Do this with any CD that has this issue. This will alter the info in iTunes, and you should then connect your iPod and synchronize the changes.
The problem arises because the information contained on the Gracenote CD Data Base (where iTunes gets all it's album/artist/track info from), is sometimes incorrect. It can show CDs as compilations when in fact they are not.

Artist info, track number, album title won't show up in iTunes

When I view the songs in explorer, I am able to see the info, but not in iTunes. When I am in iTunes and click on "get info" the ID3 tags are showing as v2.3 and only the track title is showing. When I "add folder to library" and the little progress window appears, it never shows "converting ID3..."
The same files opened in WMP all have complete info including track title, track number, album title.
The same folder is doing this on 2 different computers. We are talking about a huge amount of songs to have to update manually (total of 2.6G from this artist).
How can I get iTunes to show this info?
Troubleshooting info...I deleted a different album from iTunes, then re-added it to my library with no problems, so I am reluctant to blame the program. I'm thinking it is the files/folder. I kind of eliminated that with the attempt on the other computer.

Bump.

I've recently changed my network provider. iTunes recognized the new number and amended it in iTunes. My original number is now available but iTunes won't accept it or allow me to change the number on the device. How can I resolve this?

I have just changed my telophone provider in the UK from )2. To transfer the number, which I wanted to retain, took 24 hours and I was given a new number by the new provider Virgin Mobile. To unblock my iPhone I had to connect it to iTunes, which recognised my device and changed the telephone number. 24 hours later, my old number returned but iTunes won't recognise the device or allow me to change the number back to the original. How do I reslove this?

If you only changed the name of your ID rather than creating a new ID, just go to Settins>iCloud and tap Delete Account then sign back in with the new name. (Deleting the account from your phone does not delete it from iCloud. Your data will be synced back to your phone when you sign back in.)
If you created a new ID, you'll have to go to Settings>iCloud on your phone and turn all data you are syncing with iCloud (contacts, calendars, etc.) to Off. When prompted choose to keep the data on your iPhone. (If you are syncing iWork documents with iCloud, also open your iWork apps and turn off iCloud syncing and choose to keep the documents on your phone.) After everything is turned off, scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account. Next, set up a new iCloud account using your other ID, then turn syncing for your data (contacts, etc.) back to On. When prompted, choose Merge. This will upload the data to your new account.
You won't lose any photos in your camera roll or photo library. If you have any photos in your photo stream that are over 30 days old that are not in your camera roll or saved on your computer, be sure to save these to the camera roll before deleting the account. To do so, open the photo stream album on your iPhone in the thumbnail view, tap Edit, tap all the photos you need to save to select them, tap Share, then tap Save to Camera Roll.

How to Grey out the field "tracking number" during change mode in the order

HI Expert,
How to grey out the Tracking number (AFVGD-BEDNR) at Order -> Operation tab -> external tab ->tracking number.
during creation IW31 = not grey out and allow entry.
for change mode IW32 = grey out
if i set grey out at config OIOPD, it will grey out even during creation mode.

When I choose the "Narrator" setting to record voice only, and then decide to delete that track and record a different one - it randomly changes the setting from "Narrator" to "Bright Voice" or some other category. Sometimes the Narrator setting disappears altogether and is not even a choice. Also - sometimes there is no sound recorded on the tracks, even after it was just working fine and I did not change any settings. Other times, the mic is cutting in and out on the recording, making it unusable. I am using it on a MacBook Pro (late 2008 - 2.53 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3) with OS X Yosemite 10.10. Are there bugs in the software, or is my MacBook too old?

ITunes 9.0.1 - continuously adding the Track number to filenames?

Hi all,
So I recently added some MP3's I had into my iTunes 9.0.1 library (automatically added by iTunes; "Upgraded" Media Organization enabled), and all was well.
Until I noticed something very odd: When the files were first added, every single one had a "01" or "02" in the front of its file name, and I discovered this was corresponding to the track number - not all that big of a deal.
*But what's really driving me insane is the fact that _every time_ I play a song, the same number that was in front of the file name, "01" or "02," is automatically added in front of the file name. I.e., if I play an MP3 _fifteen times_, fifteen "01" or "02" will show up in front of the file name.*
Can anyone inform me of what's causing this and what a solution would be? (And how to restore the filenames of all the MP3's I added?)
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!

Nota bene: The MP3's I added are Korean songs, with titles and artists typed in Korean. My speculation is that there's some kind of parsing bug with regards to how iTunes 9.0.1 looks at titles when it comes to foreign character sets... But I want to see if anyone else has been having this extremely annoying problem.
