ITunes 11.0.1.12 download error on Vista

Hi,
A few months ago I logged into iTunes (on PC running Vista) and got a message to update my iTunes version to 11.0.1.12. Upon doing so, I got an error message saying that errors were encountered during the process so it rolled back and didn't install the update. However, my iTunes was no longer working!
I then uninstalled iTunes and went to the Apple site to get the download from there. I saved it to my desktop and ran it as an administrator. Got the same generic error message....no other explanation!
I'm stuck! Please help. If you require additional details, please advise.
Thanks!

BTW, if it helps, complete message says:
"Tunes installer completed.
Errors occurred during installation before iTunes could be configured.
Your system has not been modified. To complete the installation, run the installer again."
The same thing happens every time.

I purchased tv shows from iTunes and keep getting a download error tap to retry.  Why don't the shows download?  What can I do?

    Hello there Julfos,
I recommend this part of the article named iTunes: How to resume interrupted iTunes Store downloads found here http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1725.
If you cannot complete the download on your device, you can finish the download in iTunes on your computer and then sync it to your device. For instructions, see the following articles:
iTunes Store: Where can I download and sync my purchases?
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to a computer
    Additional Information
If your purchase does not resume downloading after following the steps in this article, you can also try the following steps to troubleshoot the download issue.
    Restart your computer or device.
Check for updates for your Mac or PC and install any software updates. Also, check for and install updates for any security software you may have (anti-virus, anti-malware, firewall, and so on).
If using Wi-Fi for Internet access, try using a different Wi-Fi network when downloading. If you are connecting to a home network, try restarting your Wi-Fi router. Also, check for and install any firmware updates for your Wi-Fi router. (Refer the manufacturer's website for your router to get information on updating its firmware).
If that does not resolve the issue then I recommend quitting all the apps running with this article, and trying again.
iOS: Force an app to close
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht5137
Perhaps even forgetting your home network and rejoining it.
Tap Settings > Wi-Fi and locate the Wi-Fi network to which you are connected. Then tap > and Forget this Network. Try to connect to your desired Wi-Fi network again.
    Or resetting your network settings.
Reset network settings by tapping Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
Note: This will reset all network settings including: previously connected Wi-Fi networks and passwords, recently used Bluetooth accessories, VPN and APN settings.

  • Songs purchased through iTunes on iPhone 4 get download error and will not load.  Account has been charged for the purchase.

I purchased an album through iTunes on my iPhone 4, and my PayPal account has been charged for the entire album.  However, all but 2 songs would download to my phone.  The other 2 have a download error.  Any suggestions on how to fix the error, or to get a refund for the songs that I can't get?

  • Whenever I download a movie from iTunes it always comes up "download error. Tap to retry"

whenever i download a movie from itunes it will start downloading but will crash featuring the error message "Download error. Tap to retry." how do I fix this?

I am not sure if your problem has already been solved, but I came across your question because I was having the same problem with music I had bought from itunes on my iphone 4. The message kept appearing for 3 days when I tried to download in 3G. Once I tried it from work where I am hooked up to wifi, both of my pending songs downloaded faster than I could blink. Perhaps you could try it again once you are hooked up to wifi. I am brand new to the whole apple world, but I'd be interested if this is the answer to your issue. Good luck!!

  • Getting:  iTunes is unable to purchase downloads error

Have been getting this error for at least the past 12 hours when I try to download. Not a network error. Not an access error. And not a credit card validation error. Anyone else having trouble buying songs?

In answer to your thread on setting Category values that has just been archived see

Can't say I can think of anything offhand for your current issue...

  • Purchased itunes music and it not download error 34

purchased music and received error 34.
do I have to purchase it again?
how can I redownload it without having it to repay?

I've had this same error and tried the "fix" suggestion from Ravencroaker 3 times, and the same error appears along with the message, "you've already purchased this song". Also, the error message says iTunes cannot find the server. Yet, I am DL other song files no problem.
This has only happened to one song... so far.
However, this is the more important question below:
Do I get a credit or a refund for the song? Since I paid for a song that I didn't get.
    Cheers

  • Itunes causes Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Error at Vista Startup

I installed Itunes version 8.1.1 and Quicktime on my Toshiba laptop with Vista. The installation went in correctly and Itunes found my music library.
However, when i rebooted the system, i get a Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Error Library error message that states "This application has requested the runtime to terminate in an unusual way. The message persists and Vista will not boot up.
I have to do a system restore in safe mode to get Vista usuable again.
Has anyone seen this problem and can you help me find the culprit.

Some people have reported that Apple Software Update can cause this error, so you might try removing that and see if it helps. Removing that utility should not affect iTunes, though you won't get automatic updates (you can just download any new version of iTunes or QuickTime manually and install it). It would, however, be wise to make a backup of any purchased content or items that would otherwise be difficult to replace, just in case something goes wrong.

  • ITunes Match song download error on iPhone

All songs matched or uploaded sucessfully.
I've tried to download just 1 playlist after enabling match on my iPhone 4, but 3 songs are stuck in download queue in iTunes (phone).
They say 'download error, tap to try again'
When I tap the progress bar shoots up really fast then at processing they fail.
    Anyone any ideas?

The only way that worked for me was deleting the songs in iTunes (both iCloud and Mac while keeping the files). Then updating iTunes Match. Next, drag and drop the album back to iTunes and update Match.
Next, on iPhone, the only way that worked to download them is to actually playback each song in the album NOT "download all" button or even individual download button. If I use the buttons, it downloads part of the song then I get the error message or it stops midway and you can't delete the song from the download queue. Again, the only way that worked for my iPhone was to playback each song without skipping any of them and they easily downloaded on my phone. Hope this helps
PS: The check downloads on iTunes did nothing to me as it never showed the iOS queue items, only my undownloaded purchases from iTunes Store.

  • Download error. Tap to retry and syncing problems!

I can't sync music to my iphone 4s, i tried so many times to sync music to it after managing and adding music to my itunes library then dragging them to my iphone, but when i go to my Iphone Music app, only "No content" appear inside the app, no tabs appear.
In itunes, i synced music to my sisters iphone from the same library and it worked perfectly fine, so i think the problem is in my Iphone!!
because i also backed up my iphone contents to Icloud, erased everything and started my iphone as a new, when i synced to it, it worked, but when i restored from icloud my contents, i had the same problem.
I also can't download music from itunes store, it just says (Download error. Tap to retry)
What's wrong??? I have uploaded three screenshots here.
A week of suffer! Someone help me please!

I am finding that iTunes and iCloud are still recognizing my new iPhone 5 as my iPhone 4s... even though I do not own it anymore. I think there is a glitch in there somewhere. I have traded out my new phone once... erased it several times... backed it up... restored it... still no luck.
I am going to keep trying, but perhaps there is some inherent old soul in the iPhone 5 that is really a 4s... therefore... your 4s won't give up its library? Have no real answer for you... just thought my problem might be in the similar realm.

  • Download error for explicit tracks?

I get the message "Download error. Tap to retry." in the iTunes store on my iPhone when I try to download explicit tracks that have been Matched not uploaded. They will get about 80% downloaded and then just stop every time I retry. I've tried deleting them and redownloaded the tracks but nothing seems to work. One of the songs will play most of the way through and stop and the other two will not play at all.
I have an iPhone 4S running iOS 5.1 using iTunes Match.
    Thank you

If you are using dialup or satellite for internet, latency in the internet connection can cause downloads to fail part way. For those, you'll want smaller segmented archives to be sent to you. Same if the sender has such a connection. Cable, DSL, and FiOS this is much less likely. Data corruption on your hard drive is more likely to fail extracting of a zip file on Cable, DSL, and FiOS connections. What kind of connection do you have? Is your data backed up so we can analyze why this is happening?

My DVD drive is dead so I can't save them to a disk. I do have an external CD drive.
From the sounds of this statement, it sounds like you are assuming having a DVD or CD drive that works would make a difference in being able to save to disk.
CDs and DVDs don't allow direct saves like a hard disk. They require a separate burn command to burn to disc. Except for DVD-RAM, all optical medias for CD and DVD drives allow only limited rewrite capability, and require special steps to write to disc. If a disc is -R or +R, it can be written sessions until it fills up but again requires the use of disc burning software at the operating system level, or third party. If a disc is -RW or +RW you can erase the disc and write whole new blocks of files as a rewrite of the disc. But you can't selectively write over existing blocks with either.

  • Download error -100008

I tried to download 2 Bob Dylan albums yesterday from the iTunes store.
Got a download error -100008 for 3 songs.
Apple support mailed that I had to delete the cache for these songs (~/Music/iTunes/iTunes Music/Downloads) but I cannot find this directory.
Maybe the caches where deleted this night, I use Onyx to automatically delete the caches every night.

    Hello,
sorry for answering so late, but was on vacation for quite a long time.
I use Netbarrier, so I suppose your solution will work.
Meanwhile I have been refunded, so ....
