Itunes 11.0.1 not importing CDs properly

I have just updated to itunes 11.0.1 and now find that it won't import cds properly.
The import window functions as it should and the CD imports onto the hard disk. (I can find the files using Finder).  However, itunes does not show the files.  If I use the search within itunes I can see the album title. However, when I click on it, I don't get to the album.  I just get all the albums on my mac.  If I scroll down to where the album should be in the library (say B for Black Moses) then the music isn't there.  If I click on the file in Finder, it plays in itunes but still doesn't show up in the library.
This has only happened with the last update and has happened with two separate cds (I haven't tried to import more).  Does anyone have an idea what might be wrong?  I have itunes match running on the computer too.
Thanks in advance,
Peter

p.s. I know that Apple don't both reading or responding to comments on here, but seriously, your products are becoming a laughing stock.  Apple maps is beyond a joke and iOS6 was total @@@@.  Why can't you test products properly before releasing them? You are after all the biggest company in the world.  There is no way I'm getting an iphone 5 and when my mac is eventually replaced, I doubt it will be with another apple product.

This sounds like it might be a network problem.
First, quit then relaunch iTunes and see if  that helps.
Second shut down the computer and pier cycle the Internet router and power up the computer. Let us know how those steps work.

the new iTunes is not importing cds properly
When you put the disk in it starts playing the CDs and there's no way to stop it from playing.  I've tried going into "Controls" and pushed "stop playing" and the option wasn't even available (grey).  The Arrow button on the top left is also indicating that nothing is playing (in other words it still looks like an arrow and not the pause symbol).  So basically according to iTunes...the CD is not playing.  I even tried playing another track in my library and they ended up playing simultaneously.   Also importing is very slow...an hour for 1 cd.

Just putting this out on the web for those that encounter it, not necessarily the original poster as I'm sure solved by now. I have a new Dell running Windows 8.1 and iTunes update 12.1 got error 193 and would not install, I tried numerous methods listed here. The folder some said to delete did not exist. uninstalling and reinstalling did not work. Rebooting to an earlier restore point did not work. I cannot say what will work for others, but here is what DID work for ME: Do not browse to the Apple site and download iTunes in Google Chrome, instead use Microsoft Explorer. When I went that route a different pop up box appeared asking if i want to repair or uninstall. (Repair did not work), selecting uninstall Then downloading the 64bit version (which I need) fully and successfully installed- not just saying it did, but actually working. I opened it up and re-synced to my iPhone 4s. Viola! (Btw, the day prior when purchasing an album over 3G not wifi all my stored music mysteriously disappeared, which ironically is what caused me to update iTunes to 12.1 but maybe this is unrelated, but both problems solved now. once iTunes was running again, everything was still in the cloud not lost just downloading to phone.) Hope this helps.

  • ITunes 10.1.54 will not import CDs

I have been trying to import CDs since this most recent update and I am presented with the message "iTunes is not working properly". Following this the program shuts down, meaning I can't import any new CDs. I'd like to say I was surprised but I am not. Has anyone else experienced this/know of any fixes?

You need to go here and downlaod iTunes and reinstall it. No need to uninstall first.
    -> http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Version 10.1.54 was replaced by 10.1.56.
It is a different build number (56 vs. 54) but the same version so software update will not find it.

  • ITunes 10 Will not Import CDs

I just discovered that iTunes 10 will not import audio CDs. Once you insert the CD and iTunes launches, the CD disappears from the desktop. It is not there in the finder window nor in the iTunes window. This occured on all three Macs I tried it on and occurred with about four different audio CDs.
Apple Technical Support people duplicated the problem on their Macs and have referred this to engineering. If you plan on importing audio CDs in the near future I suggest not installing iTunes 10 now.

Could you please check if your problem disappear when configuring your
iTunes so as to avoid automatic search of track names on the web:<pre> Preferences…
Automatically retrieve CD track names from Internet</pre>

  • ITunes not importing CDs

I recently purchased a refurbished Macbook Pro.  I have managed to add all the music on my external hard drive to my new iTunes library, but whn I try to import CDs, I get the message: "An error occurred while converting the file "Name of first track on CD".  You do not have the privilege to make changes."  Aside form the fact I think this sounds a bit snippy, I am baffled.  It has happened with every CD I have tried.

I am having exactly the same problem and would love some help on the issue.
My Macbook is authorised and i'm not going to buy the CD's I already own off itunes to solve the problem.

  • TS1363 will not import cds

cds will not import to the itunes library have reinstalled product 2x

    Aha!
    You passed the test!
I wonder if the album has been given a title you don't expect, or it has the title "Greatest Hits" and has been placed into another album by the same name (you know how so many of these bands have Greatest Hits albums!) and you didn't notice when the album was imported. (The track details did appear when you imported, didn't they? If not, everything woud have been given names such as "Track 01, 02, 03" and "Unknown Album".)
Have you looked for the album by both artist and by the album title?
So, use the Search facility in iTunes to look for the album name or some of the track names, or even the artist. Do you get any results? If you do, check the details to see if there is anything amis, such as mis-typed titles or artist names.
Typically, an extra space at the beginning of the title, or "uran Duran" instead of "Duran Duran" (no, not my taste either). If you find anything wrong, you can correct it by using File/Get Info and re-typing in the appropriate box. Note that if you need to change things for several tracks, make sure you find all the tracks that need to be re-named.
If you haven't found anything so far, try using the Search facility in Windows Explorer to find one of the tracks. If you find the track, at least you will then know where the files are located. This will depend on whether you followed the advice Limnos gave you in the post you created. If you have, then I guess you have made some sort of progress.
    Any luck?

  • DNG from Pentax K5 IIs not importing/displaying properly

I am runing LR 5.3 and PS6 on Win 7 Ultimate with latest updates as of 2/17/2014.  Some of my DNG from the Pentax K5 IIs are not importing or displaying correctly.  I have attached screenshots from LR/PS and Silkypix (Pentax Util) for comparison.  Please let me know how to correct the problem.  I will send the DNG file if necessary.

If the JPGs are sidecars then they’d be deleted along with any DNGs you choose to delete, so you’ll have to be doubly not lazy to get the JPGs to replace the bad DNGs.
I think if this happened to me the basic procedure I’d follow is, pending some other idea that would be easier:
Make sure the setting to treat RAW+JPG as separate files is OFF.
Mark/flag/rate/keyword all the bad DNGs with some unique designation, andif the JPGs are still sidecars then they’ll also have the designation.
    Filter by that unique designation.
Select and move all these images to some other new folder from within LR using LR commands (drag-and-drop, right-click move).  If the JPGs are still sidecars then they’ll automatically be moved along with the DNGs.
Remove these images from LR but don’t delete from the hard-drive.
Use an OS-level command to delete all the DNGs from that folder, leaving the JPGs.
Use an OS-level command to move these JPGs back to their original folder.
Turn ON the setting to treat raws+jpgs as separate files.
Synchronize the original folder with the Import new files setting enabled.
    Import these JPGs.
Turn OFF the setting to treat raws+jpgs as separate files if you want.
This process would reset any develop settings you’d applied to any of the images because you’re removing them from the catalog.  I think there may be plug-in that will synchronize settings from raws to jpgs but I’m not sure if it works for hidden sidecar jpgs or not.  If you were to use such a plug-in then you’d need to do it before removing the images from your catalog.
This process is would not be easy to do if the corrupted files are scattered throughout your photos rather than in a single folder because you’d likely want to do the steps above for each folder separately.

  • Newest version of Itunes won't let me import CDs

I recently installed the newest version of Itunes (10.6.1). Now every time I open it, I get the message: "Itunes was not properly installed. If you wish to import or burn CDs you will have to reinstall Itunes." I have to click OK, and then Itunes opens. Also, all the music I have previously imported from CDs is listed under "unknown Album," without artist or track number information. However, I do still have the files in My Music.
Possible related issues: I wanted to install the latest version because Itunes was not recognizing my ipod. I did have some trouble with the install; something about Windows not recognizing this download as safe, even though I got it from apple.com. I proceeded anyway. I have also had trouble with Itunes taking up too much space on my computer, and having to split my library between my C and D drives. In addition, my computer is 6 years old.
I am going to try to install Itunes again; is there anything I can do to make sure it works this time, i.e. recognizes all of my imported music?

    This worked for me:
Find your added songs in your playlists (you'll find them there)
    Select them
Right click and 'Make version for MP3'
As a little miracle you'll now find the album in your album and number-tab.
The album now contains two versions of each song. Delete one and the album remains.

  • ITunes 9.0.1 not burning CDs

I recently downloaded iTunes 9.0.1 and every time I open it, it displays n error saying that the registry for importing and burning CDs is missing, it imports fine, but it wont burn. I've been using 4x speed as this is the fastest setting the CD (Sony CD-RW) can take. I've tried other CDS and they didn't work either. I can't use windows media player because the songs were bought from iTunes.

Taken from one of my posts:
I would suggest manually removing and installing the Gear drivers:(Taken from the Gear Drivers support site)
Select Run... in the START menu, and type in regedit
This will start up the Registry Editor.
Delete the following key from the registry:
    HKEYLOCALMACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\GearAspiWDM
If present, delete the following key from the registry:
    HKEYLOCALMACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\GEARSecurity
    In the HKEYLOCALMACHINE\SYSTEM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08 002BE10318} key:
remove the GEARAspiWDM entry in the UpperFilters value. Note that the entries in this value are double byte.
    In the HKEYLOCALMACHINE\SYSTEM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class{6D807884-7D21-11CF-801C-08 002BE10318} key:
remove the GEARAspiWDM entry in the UpperFilters value. Note that the entries in this value are double byte.
    In the HKEYLOCALMACHINE\SYSTEM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class{CE5939AE-EBDE-11D0-B181-00 00F8753EC4} key:
remove the GEARAspiWDM entry in the UpperFilters value. Note that the entries in this value are double byte.
    Reboot
    Delete GearAspi.dll from Windows\System32 folder
If present, delete Gearsec.exe from Windows\System32 folder
    Delete GearAspiWDM.sys from Windows\System32\Drivers folder
Delete the Windows\System32\GEARAspi.dll value from the HKEYLOCALMACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\SharedDLLs registry key
Delete the Windows\System32\Gearsec.exe value from the HKEYLOCALMACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\SharedDLLs registry key
If present, delete the Windows\System32\Drivers\GearAspiWDM.sys value from the HKEYLOCALMACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\SharedDLLs registry key
    Reboot
Then go here to download the drivers: http://www.gearsoftware.com/support/drivers.php

I had a friend that this was happening too, and that seemed to fix the issue.

  • The latest version of itunes (8.0) will not burn cds for me

Ive been able to burn a few but the majority of the time Im just wasting cds. I click burn disc, insert blank disc, the mac then checks playlist. Then it says its writing playlist, but nothing happens. It sounds like the mac is working on it and when I cancel the burn it takes FOREVER for it to spit the cd back out. Can I just download the last version I had somehow? Im not liking this one.

    Hello,
It's important to keep your system software up to date. You indicated you are running 10.4.7. You need to be on 10.4.11. Go to System Preferences/Software Update and follow the instructions.
After your updates are finished, close Software Update from the Menu Bar, File/Quit. Next, run Disk Utility and Repair Disk Permissions. Disk Utility is in your Applications/Utilities folder. Launch DU, select MactinoshHD 10.4.x in the panel on the left, then select the FirstAid tab, then click:
Repair Disk Permissions. When it's finished, Quit Disk Utility. Reboot your Mac, launch iTunes and try to burn a CD.
Also, if the above does not help, try this: Quit iTunees. Locate this file: com.apple.iTunes.plist
it's here: /Users/YourName/Library/Preferences. Drag that file from the Preferences folder to your Desktop. Launch iTunes and see if you can successfully burn to a CD. If you can, drag that .plist file to the Trash, empty the Trash, and reboot. It just means your iTunes preference file was corrupted.

  • ITunes 10.6.3 not importing mp3 files but will play the mp3 files

    Hi
I recently updated my iTunes to v10.6.3 on my mac. However, I cant seem to add new music to my iTunes library. Dropping and dragging doesnt work even though the '+' curser appears and importing music using command + O doesnt work either. There is no indication of the music being analysed or anything.
However, when I click on an mp3 file it opens and plays in iTunes but will not be added to the library. If I click on the mp3 file again from finder, it will play in iTunes from the last point..
Does anyone have any ideas of wrong? Its frustrating me because I need to sync music to my iPhone and I cant
    Thanks

Ye playing the file should automatically add it to iTunes but its not since I updated iTunes.
The music plays and I can see the the time bar in the window on the top of iTunes but the file is not located in the iTunes library or anywhere in iTunes so I cant right click it.
At the moment the mp3 file is on my desktop. Normally dropping and dragging it into iTunes adds it into my 'iTunes' folder in the 'Music' folder.. but this is not happening. I've tried manually adding the file into the 'iTunes' folder using the appropriate folder titles etc.. but iTunes will not detect the new mp3's. Wierd!!
I think I might just have to re-install iTunes

  • Itunes 10.2.2 not importing all files within a directory

Hello all, here is my very frustrating issue.
I am running Itunes 10.2.2.14 on a x64bit Windows 7 machine and i am having an issue importing my full library from an external USB harddrive. Originally all the music on this external drive was at one point in time completely imported and functioning in iTunes. The short version of this long story is that I moved my main personal server from windows 7 to ubuntu, after installing VM player and attaching a external HD with my music iTunes will only import 7% of my music!! I have doubled checked permissions and this is not an issue. This is also not a format issue as the mass majority of my music is .mp3.
I have cleared the music library several times, and even used another PC to import the folder and have found that iTunes appears to be importing the exact same 7% of my music library. The only article i have found that is even close to providing a explaination is page 4 on this discussion here:
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/2566265?start=45&tstart=0
Although this workaround appears to be for a Mac, is there any way to do this in Windows/Linux?
I do not have this issue importing into Ubuntu Rythmbox. If this is really an issue of extended attributes where did they come from and why is iTunes rejecting the import with absolutely no message/errors?
This is a major bug (to me) as i am currently unable to sync the mass majority of my music, much of which was purchased from Apple!?!?!
    Any help is greatly appreciated!!
    Thanks.

UPDATE--> Manually adding folders (drag from explorer and drop on music libray) appears to be functioning as a work around. I have been testing individual folders and so far so good.
While this may be a workaround i have HUNDREDS of folders! =(

  • ITunes 11.0.2 not importing... keeps locking up...!

Since upgrading the software, I've had nothing but problems! It seems I may have narrowed down the issue to that everytime iTunes tries to import something, it locks up and stops working. This is pretty much across the board, whether its trying to rip a CD, import an MP3 file, or even download a podcast!
    Any thoughts?
    Solutions?
    Thanks!

Marydore, this seemed to work for me [assuming you are on a Mac as well]: With iTunes Program closed I changed the name of iTunes folder [where all the music and apps were located] to "itunesbackup". Then I opened iTunes [where it only showed "cloud" stuff in the library, stuff I had purchased and could download again]. I noticed that when I did that, iTunes created a new "iTunes" folder and directory tree [which was different from how the folder was organized before, compared to the how the folders were in "itunesbackup"]. Then I just moved the music from "itunesbackup" into the music folder in the new "iTunes" folder [the one that it autocreated]. Then I went back to iTunes Program and selected "add to library." Then directed it to the new music directory.
Everything seems to be working now! Sorry if I did a poor job explaining it, Im not the "programmer" type. I never deleted anything, just moved files from one folder to another... Let me know if it works for you [if you try it]

  • Itunes 11.0.2 not importing videos

    Hi everyone,
I've recently upgraded to the newest version of itunes (11.0.2) and I find that I am unable to import videos. I've tried mp4's and mpeg's and nothing happens. I've checked the entire library (Including home videos) and nothing ever shows up. I need to import the videos so I can watch them on my ipad mini. I have tried converting the movies to every format but itunes will not even try to import them. I've tried dragging and adding the files but to no avail.
Is there a solution to this problem or do I have to wait for a new itunes?
    Thanks,

  • Converting from WMP to itunes - some albums are not imported as one

I am importing my whole music collection. Some albums are imported into itunes and show up as single albums as they are supposed to. Some show up as multiple albums - particularly if they have different artists for different songs. The track numbers are correct. For example, in one "album," the correct song is labeled track 6. In another "album" (same real album - different artist), the correct song is labeled track 2, etc. These all show as single albums (as they should) under WMP. How can I get itunes to believe that all albums with the same name are the same album even if there are different artists on different tracks?
    Thanks

Here is an article with good examples on that.
